Rory knocked on Lorelai's door doing her best to keep herself composed. She was so not in the mood for any family drama. She hoped that she and her mother could be civil to each other as she picked Riley up.

Rory eased up when she saw a smile on her mother's face thankful that Lorelai was in a good mood. "Honey you look great. Did you get hour hair done" Lorelai asked, as she led Rory into the kitchen. Rory smiled at the compliment maybe the afternoon wouldn't be so bad. Rory was also happy that there were Luke's coffee and blueberry muffins on the table. After a long drive she could use some nourishment.

"Just a trim and a few high lights. No bobs" Rory laughed as she remembered her and Logan's conversation from the night before. She and Lorelai proceeded to have a conversation about which celebrities could pull off certain hairstyles and then proceeded to talk and mock about dresses that were worn at a cotillion in Emily's society paper. It felt good to talk to her mom about different topics than what it had mostly been for the past 9 years, which were how Riley was and criticism towards Rory's choices.

Rory should have known that the pleasant discussion would be short lived during a conversation on how wedding gowns had too much lace, Rory's phone rang. She glanced at the name and debated on whether to answer.

"Its okay honey you can take it. The coffee isn't going anywhere."

Rory was surprised at her mom's good mood usually she didn't like it when a phone call interrupted her thoughts.

"Thanks I'll be back in a second. "

"Hey to what do I owe the annoyance?" Rory teased.

Logan smiled. He knew she enjoyed talking to him but she also wasn't afraid to tease him as well. It was something he enjoyed immensely after having so many females fawn all over him. "You wound me Ace. I was just calling give you a distraction, I know how being at your mom's frustrates you."

Rory beamed for it never ceased to amaze her how Logan knew her so well. "Well so far there has been no Gilmore drama, we were just having a nice discussion on fashion dos and don'ts it feels like our old discussions."

"Well I'm happy to hear that Ace. Anyway the second reason for my call is that I wanted to let you know that Honor invited Riley to come with her and Jenna to a Taylor Swift Concert this Friday. Jenna keeps asking me every 5 minutes to call you. You remember how 7 year olds can be. "

Rory laughed remembering how over eager Riley could get about certain things. "Well 9 year olds still have that energy is as well. It's their lucky Friday Grandma says she is hosting this Junior League benefit so Riley should be free to go plus Jess had to cancel on Saturday so spending the night with Jenna will cheer her up."

Rory sighed Jess would normally keep his plans but there were a few times when he would cancel abruptly during periods when he would get excited with a new book or a party for his publishing company. Rory hated the look on her daughters face when Jess would let his creative endeavors come first.

"Awesome. Sorry about Jess will Riley be okay? "

Rory was touched by Logan's concern. "I hope so. He says he'll make it up to her by taking her for ice scream on Wednesday. He says he could not get out of a publishing party on Saturday."

"Still sucks Ace. Anyway what are you going to do on Friday now that you're free of dinner?"

Rory was stunned it was the first Friday she had been single in a while. "Oh you know watch Beaches and read the Bell Jar." Rory joked.

"Ace" Logan said in disbelief.

"Logan don't worry, I'll be fine. Now I have to say goodbye to Mom and pick up my daughter."

Rory was surprised as she closed her cell phone to see her mom standing behind her. "Where you eve dropping?" She asked half in serious and half in jest.

"No honey. I was wondering what was talking so long. Although I did happen to catch the last few sentences, and I am glad for 2 reasons."

Rory started to feel dread she knew one of the reasons was that her mom felt that Rory spent way too much time with Logan.

"One is that I need to tell you that you do have something to do Friday night. I have some good news. "

Rory breathed a sigh of relief. Maybe she and her mother wouldn't need to fight about her friendship with Logan today.

"The Dragonfly has been listed in the top ten Inns in Town and Country."

"Mom that is great." She pulled Lorelai into a hug. It felt good for her and mom to just have a moment of sharing good news.

"So Sookie and I decided to throw a small party with the Inn staff and the town at the Dragonfly. I really want you Riley, and James to come. "

Rory's face fell. "Mom, I will happily be there but Riley has plans to go to a concert with a friend in the city." Rory left out Honor to avoid more complication.

Rory knew she made the right call for Lorelai still looked composed. "Well she does have Gilmore blood in her. Well this will be a good date night for you and James"

Rory groaned, for she knew she had to rip of the Band-Aid. She went to the table picked up the coffee mug and took a long drink of coffee and breathed.

"Rory?" Lorelai asked confused by her daughter's stillness.

"Mom, I hate to tell you this given how much you like him James and I broke up the day before yesterday. "

Rory saw the look of disappointment on her mother's face. "Honey, I am sorry but if it was because of Logan then you should reassure James that he has nothing to worry. The second thing I wanted to tell you after your phone call you spend way too much time with Logan.

Rory felt her blood pressure go high. How dare her mother just assume that it had to do with Logan?

"Mom, James didn't want to be around kids and we have been growing distant for quite awhile it had nothing to do with Logan!" Rory took a deep breath she was naïve to think that this would be a peaceful afternoon.

Lorelai felt a bit ashamed but she still felt that her concern was valid. " Rory I am sorry he felt this way it's just the last time you both were here he confided in me that he felt you were spending to much time with Logan and I agree.

Rory felt her face turn red. "So know you confide with my boyfriends' behind my back about whom I can spend time with. Logan's my best friend and at the moment he's more my family than you are."

"Rory come on you don't mean that. "

I do I can't talk to you anymore. Tell Riley to come meet me in the car and I am not going coming to your party. " Rory grabbed her keys and purse and headed to the door. She was through being a doormat for her mom.

Sorry guys. I really was busy with life and loss of muse. I will finish this story I promise you all that. Sadly this story and a few more chapters of Fantasy vs. Reality will probably be my last in Gilmore fan fiction. If anybody wants to write a sequel to Tears From the Abyss or Enchanted Evening please pm me, I am giving someone else the rights to those story one two condition first is that they are a RL fan and can give both sequels a happy ending or one story. The only things I will still read RL fan fiction, I don't have the passion to write fan fiction anymore and new ideas create ideas. Never say never things could change, luckily we have a long way to go with this story.
