Chapter 4: Travel
Renesmee
It's the next year and I'm officially almost 5 years old yet physically 15-16 and going to High School in the next day so I'm super stoked and ecstatic. I'm counting the minutes, hours, seconds to the day I enter the Forks School building, and the best part was that my parents first met each other there so who knows I might just meet my soul mate there.
Grandpa Carlisle says that I was now old enough to attend school again and said that I wouldn't be aging much sooner.
My parents' took another trip to that 'mysterious' hotel they went to last week. I didn't get what was so special about it and given the fact they went on a Lunar Eclipse was totally weird, anyway, to give myself all the scars I just let it slide and moved on with my life.
It was a Sunday day and I went hunting with my favorite wolf Jacob who I was challenging to a race and I got to admit he was fast for a wolf but thanks to my half vampire side and my dad I was on his flank in a jiff but guess what Jacob Black the extreme cheater won.
"Show off, you always get to win" I pouted like an 8 year old that lost her doll. I always got angry whenever Jacob won.
"Don't hate the player, hate the game" he thought, I gained the ability to read peoples thoughts but only when they invite me in similar to my dad's but more stricter, I have to have physical contact with them to hear what their thinking
"Not fair, well I hate this game" I said while crossing my arms he barked a wolf laugh which caused me to chuckle too
"Let's get you some elk" we ran and I drained 3 elks and I called myself full for the day, I gave Jacobs shorts and he ran around an oak tree and came back human form. I've always thought of Jacob as a beautiful creature but this time there's a different meaning to it I felt a feeling jolt through my body as I saw him without a shirt and it was a dull moment when he came closer to me I took a sharp breath and just smiled to cover my feelings if it helped. I never knew my feelings towards Jacob, I mean it's too complicated.
I knew what imprinting meant, I've learnt that all the time when I went to bonfires and the elders talked about it. Well I've always wondered when Jacob ever imprinted then will he forget about me? I know I wouldn't like it one bit, nobody should take my Jacob away from me. I laughed in my mind when I thought this because I knew I wouldn't ever get Jacob Black.
"Whoa Ness, I've never seen you drain 3 elks in over just 2 hours that's gotta be an all time record" He smiled in an awed way. I just laughed and we walked up the porch of the 'Cullen house. Jacob opened the door and we walked in to see everyone congregated in the living room, looking up at us.
"What's up with the intervention?" Jacob asked as we saw all the faces of my family.
"It's good to have you here Jacob and Nessie, now we can start on with the family meeting" Carlisle said.
"Uh oh, what did I do now?" I said looking down and too my amusement Jacob and Uncle Emmett burst out laughing and a few people started chuckling.
"Nothing indeed, we just wish to tell you most of us won't be here due to attending certain activities" Carlisle said in his English accent.
"Oh ok so what's up" I sighed in relief but wondering why people will all of a sudden leave. My family always went on weird excursions which I wasn't usually invited to.
"We're not leaving yet sweetie we just need to get ready" My dad answered my thoughts
"What's going to happen?" I asked.
"We going to Rio where your mother and I went to before you were born to visit some of our old friends and Huilen and Nahuel to get more information about your breed. "My dad said we still don't have answers about my kind and we searching and asking our old friend Nahuel about our kind. Nahuel was the man who saved my family from the Volturi and stating hybrids do exist. I've missed him so much. He used to always tell me stories about his life as a child. I haven't seen him for four years and I couldn't wait to see him again. I mean I even almost forgot how he looked like!
"Oh so how long are talking?" I questioned. My dad was looking pained while my mom sat up and walked over to me.
"Sweetie we will be gone approximately 3 months" my mother said
"What?" I shouted rising up from my seat. They couldn't leave for three months! That was impossible.
"No you can't 3 months?" I had a lump in my throat rising and trying to hold back the tears at the thought of not seeing my parents for months. They all looked pained.
"I know you angry and hurt but it's the only way we can find out more about your kind" My dad said. I realised I was being selfish; I sighed and took my place back down.
"Yeah I guess" I said my mom and dad smiled. "May I at least come with you?" I asked.
"It'll probably won't be that long, and you've got your first day back at school tomorrow, you wouldn't want to miss that?" My mom asked with a weak attempt smile. I frowned when I saw how pale and tired she looked. I couldn't explain it but it was unusual.
"Don't take too long" I said.
"Weren't planning on it" My mother replied.
"Ok so when is this happening?"I asked
"In 2 weeks, right after you're settled in your new school." My dad said and I nodded in agreement. Everyone did their own thing after that, Rosalie and Emmett worked on her car in the garage, Esme was cleaning the house whilst Carlisle and Jasper were in his office. I was currently sitting with my parents' and Jake in the living room.
"Jacob is such a cheater!" I exclaimed as we talked about our little race Jake and I had today.
"Ness, don't deny the truth" Jacob said proudly as he flashed his perfect teeth as he grinned at me. I rolled my eyes at my best friend and turned to my parents'. My mom looked sicker and was a lot paler if it were even possible.
"Love, are you alright?" My father asked worriedly with full concern spread across his face. My mother shook him off.
"Oh I'm fine, it's just a little headache" She smiled convincingly. My father didn't look convinced at all. It wasn't usual for a vampire to have a headache so this might be serious.
"No there's something wrong" My father said lowly as he felt her pulse and forehead. My mom glared at him.
"I said…I'm fine" She said sternly. She was going to continue when she immediately stopped herself and stared at the ground.
"Bella?" my father asked but was cut off when my mom immediately got off the couch and ran full speed into the bathroom direction. Jacob, my dad and I followed her trail to see her head in the toilet and retching. My father held her hair back.
"Bella, what's wrong?" He asked.
"I'm fine...I'm if..." She tried saying. My father frowned and then my mother throw up another fountain of blood and put her hands either side of the toilet waiting for another gag. She then regained herself and sat on the toilet seat "I'm sorry, it must've been the deer" She said with a light chuckle. I frowned at her. A deer certainly couldn't have caused that.
I remember watching a movie last month about how a woman found out she was pregnant. She had all the side effects like retching and the paleness of the skin. I wondered if this was the same but that would be stupid because vampires couldn't conceive vampires. My father must have read my mind because he then darted his eyes onto my mother's stomach. My mom stared at us curiously.
"Bella…" My father whispered.
"What?" She asked in befuddlement. When no one replied she repeated. "What's going on?" She asked.
"This is impossible" My father said quickly. "Carlisle!" he called out. My grandfather and the rest of the family entered the room and frowned when they saw all our shocked faces.
"What's wrong Edward?" Carlisle asked. Edward looked at him with a face telling him what's going on. Carlisle understood the look and walked up to Bella and checked everything about her.
"Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here?" Rosalie exclaimed. That's when Alice came into the room and gasped.
"Bella I can't see you anymore!" She retorted in frustration. My mom looked confused but the confusion ceased when she stared back to the ground. She then got up and paced around the room. She stopped at her tracks and lifted her shirt up slowly and began rubbing her stomach.
"Impossible" She said. "This is impossible right?" she asked anyone in particular. When nobody answered she walked up to the stand mirror in the bathroom and felt her stomach which looked bigger than usual. "I can feel a heartbeat!" she gasped. My eyes widened.
"Mom?" I asked.
"I'm pregnant!" She confirmed in utter shock. I looked at my father to see him almost having a panic attack.
"Is it true?" Jasper asked Carlisle. He shrugged in response.
"I-I don't know…This is such a strange theory it's impossible!" Carlisle said with a confused expression stretched across his face, then looked astounded.
"I'm pregnant" my mom repeated from suddenly a shocked face to an extremely happy one.
"Bella..." My father said slowly. "We're not too sure" He said also unsure with himself.
"Edward, you have to trust me on this, I know I'm pregnant…" Bella said and I could see my father trying to believe her, he really did.
"I think we should head to the office" Carlisle suggested. They nodded and we all made our way to his office. He sat my mother on the hospital bed that I realised I was born in.
"Bella, I have no idea how to do this with a vampire because your skin isn't compatible as to a human but I can surely try and see if I can actually hear a heartbeat with the stethoscope alright?" He asked my parents who nodded at him. He took this long equipment and placed it on my mother's stomach as he focused on the heartbeat. Everyone waited in anticipation for Carlisle to confirm.
"Well?" My mom asked.
"I believe your pregnant Bella" He confirmed. "I can hear the fetus' heartbeat distinctly and all I know it's fast growing." He addressed her. "We'll leave you to process the information" He said and ushered everyone to leave my mother, Dad and I alone. My dad stood up and walked to the glass window and stood still as he stared at the scenery outside. He always did this when he was in complete thought.
"Dad..." I asked.
"This can't be true" he said trying to deny it but I knew all too well that this was really happening.
"We'll get through this dad together" I assured him as I walked up to him and held his hand. My mom nodded. He sent us a weak smile as a reply and sat down on the edge of the couch. He stared at my mother and vice versa. I knew they were having their connection.
And the night went on with us talking about what we will do about this situation and how we will welcome and love the future child of our kind and probably the first. We knew this would complicate things but we knew we'd get through this together and we'd have a new member of our family. Honestly. I was actually kind of excited to have a new sibling…
