Whoo hoo! I made it to chapter 4. As you can see, The Doctor (I mean, Mr. Smith) has made his appearance. I so wanted to put more in this chapter, but I felt that this chapter ended well. Plus, it's almost 1 in the morning and I'd like to get up earlier tomorrow because I have some things to do. Also, I'd like to thank the person who gave me the first review on this. I really appreciate that nice review and I'm still thinking about what the species is. So, goodnight all and thanks for taking the time to read this.
The next morning, I woke up early to get ready as an undercover private investigator posing as a high school student, which shouldn't have been so hard, except I had absolutely no idea how a high schooler acted now. I hadn't been a high school student for almost 6 years and clearly they'd changed. Luckily for me, I had my sister. Somehow, she was able to teach me how to act like a high schooler the night before. So, here I was the next morning, praying that I wouldn't blow my cover but also praying that'd I'd be able to figure out what happened to those students.
"Ok, I can find 20 students while also posing as a high school student." I said to myself, as I put on the clothes that my sister had brought for me. "It shouldn't be that hard, right? Right." I was clearly trying to psych myself up for this. There was a part of me that was still trying to figure out how 20 students could have just disappeared and why someone would take them. These thoughts were all going on in my head as I put on my makeup and brushed my hair. Luckily, it didn't take me that long to get ready.
"So, how do I look? I asked my sister as I walked out of my bathroom and into my kitchen. She must have gotten up early because she was already at my kitchen table eating cereal. "Could I pass for a high school student?"
She inspected me all the way from my long sleeved shirt down to my peasant skirt and combat boots. "You look awesome." She said. "I'm impressed that my clothing looks so good on you, to be honest."
"Hey!" I slapped her playfully. "Do you still want a ride to school? Because I can just not take you." She stuck her tongue out at me as I grabbed a breakfast bar and my backpack. Luckily for this mission, all I needed was my ipad. She'd already explained that they had some from school that they took notes on. I was actually amazed by that, I had to take my notes with a note book. Although, I wouldn't really be taking notes on school. I was planning on observing everyone and everything to see if there was something amiss,
We headed out to my car and I drove us to school. I was planning on playing the role of my sister's cousin who transferred to the high school. When we got to the parking lot, I parked my car and we went to the office so I could "register for classes." In actuality, we were just meeting with the principal so I could tell her how I was going to approach this.
For the first half of the day, everything was normal. Either my old teachers had already been warned that I was coming or they just didn't remember me. When I introduced myself as Jamie Barnes, they just told me to get notes from someone else and just continued learning. However, everything changed after lunch. The first surprise was my sister's english class.
Even though my sister had told me about Mr Smith, I wasn't expecting him to be this eccentric. Everyone had already been sitting down when he walked in. The first thing I noticed about him was how he looked. He looked to be in his mid 30's with spiky brown hair and brown eyes, that looked very warm and trusting, but they also looked almost ancient like he'd seen so much and lived through so much even though he wasn't that old. He was also dressed kind of oddly. He was wearing a brown pinstriped suit with beige converse sneakers and a pair of glasses.
"So, that's Mr. Smith?!" I whispered to my sister.
"Yep."
"He seems pretty eccentric to me."
"Oh, just wait until he starts talking. Don't get me wrong, he's a really great teacher, but the way he speaks is odd. It's almost like he knew all of these people."
I was about to find out just how odd he was.
