Chapter 4

Hiccup's P.O.V.

I endured whatever pain my father gave me that night. I was just so excited. I now had something to look forward to in life!

That night for dinner, I began making my father's favorite (tomato soup), only because I needed him to eat the food. I snuck some of the weird potion stuff that makes you fall asleep (his mother is a witch, and because she's family, we have a lot of this kind of stuff). He won't even notice it's there (it doesn't taste or smell like anything).

When I was done with the cooking, I gave him the soup and watched him devour it like he was going to starve to death. An hour or two later, we both headed up to our rooms to sleep. Or, in my case, kill time.

I found myself playing cards with Hector. Hector is the name of my dead twin brother. He was older than me by three hours but… none of it matters now. He's dead. So with him dead and my father killing all of the friends I make at school, I have decided to make an imaginary friend. Sometimes he seems too real, but that could just be my mind playing tricks on me.

"I win again! Wow, Hector, you really need to- wait… what is going on?" My world began spinning faster and faster until everything was black.

I woke up on the floor of my bedroom. What happened? Everything looked normal. The playing cards were still where I left them. Suddenly, my bedroom door opened. I looked to see who it was.

It was my father.

"Morning, Sunshine," Alvin said as he took a step into the room. He gripped the door in one hand, but the other stayed behind the door like he was hiding something.

"Breakfast is ready." He turned to leave, but then he stopped and turned around. "Oh, before I forget. I got you a little something." He stepped into the room with a garbage bag in his big hands.

"What is it?" I said as if I was a five-year-old on Christmas Day.

My father smiled and pulled something out of the bag and rolled it toward me. I felt pale, sick, and horrified. He laughed when he saw the horror written in my face. I let out a surprised and horrified shriek as I scooted toward the wall trying to get away from what was in front of me.

"This is what happens when you don't listen, boy." Alvin purred in amusement at my terror. He began walking towards me with a machete in one of his hands.

I felt the wall at my back and-

-and woke up sweating with tears running down my face. My head throbbed. I must have smacked it against the wall. I stayed where I was until I sure I was calm.

I checked the time. It was 9:30. I had only an hour to get ready. I showered, shaved and combed my messy hair that won't stay decent no matter what I do and how hard I try, changed into something comfy and snuck out of my window. I ran full sprint until I made it to my destination. I knew it was the right place because of Toothless and Cami shouting at each other, as usual.

"BRO!"

"BRO!"

I watched as they then began fighting.

"FUCK YOU!"

"FUCK YOU!"

The shouting became louder the closer I got to them before I thought they were going to make me deaf. And it didn't help when Astrid decided to join the two obnoxious toddlers.

"I'LL FUCK THE BOTH OF YOU IF YOU DON"T KNOCK IT OFF!"

"KNOCK WHAT OFF?!" Cami and Toothless yelled in perfect unison.

My head was starting to hurt.

"That random rock on the wall, duh," Astrid said as if it were obvious that the rock was the problem and not the way-too-loud shouting.

"Why are you guys so loud?" I asked.

"Meh, you get used to it." Toothless replied. He smiled at me with a mischevious look on his adorable face. I gave him a death glare before I noticed he had a backpack.

"What's in the bag?" I asked nervously. It's not my fault I get nervous easily.

"Gifts for everyone here. I also brought food, matches, batteries, a lantern, a handgun, and more food because have you seen teenagers?"

"A handgun?" I began trembling.

"It's only for protection. Don't worry, nothing will get you."

"Gifts? That's too kind of you." Astrid said. Did she really not hear anything about the handgun?

"I have to get rid of my junk somehow."

"You could just call me over to chop it off."

Toothless looked at Astrid wide-eyed as he covered his neither region. "Not that kind of junk!"

Astrid giggled at Toothless' actions. I found myself laughing, too.

Toothless must have noticed must have noticed this because he started chasing me, and due to how I was raised, I thought he was going to kill me. As I was running I felt something grab me by the waist.

"NO! Let me go!" I shrieked in total fear.

"Hey calm down, calm down. It's just me!"

I whipped my head around to see who it was. It was Toothless. I felt relief run through my veins.

"Sorry, it's just that before I came here I took a nap and had a nightmare, so I still might be jumpy."

"What was it about?" Toothless asked. Why did he sound so concerned about me?

"Don't wanna talk about it," I answered.

"You sure?"

"Yes. Now, will you please let me go?"

Toothless let go of me, only to scoop me up into his arms.

"Jeez, how much do you weigh?"

"95 pounds," I said matter-of-factly.

Toothless just looked at me wide-eyed but didn't say anything else as we made our way back to where everyone else was. It took us five minutes to get to them. Did we really run that far that fast?

When we reached everyone else, Cami ran up to us. "There you two are. We were worried about you guys. What took you guys so long?"

Toothless was silent for a few seconds before he spoke. "We were just running around in the woods. And then we traveled back here."

"That makes much more sense than Fishlegs' they-got-eaten-by-a-bush theory. Hey, one more question: why are you carrying Hiccup?" Cami asked.

"Just felt like carrying something, and apparently Hiccup is very light. Way too light. So, who wants to eat something?"

Everyone cheered with real excitement while I cheered with fake excitement. I don't know what these people were really planning to do.

"We should have ice cream!" Cami said.

"Do you know how late it is?" Meatlug said to Cami's idea.

"There's an Ice cream shop that's open 24/7. My dad owns it. Come on!" Cami exclaimed excitedly as she extended her hand to Astrid. "Milady," Cami said as Astrid took her hand and held one to it. The two smiled as they began walking away. Fishlegs and Meatlug did the same thing.

Toothless continued to carry me.

"Hey, what's your favorite ice cream flavor?"

I looked up at Toothless with a confused look. "Ice cream? What's that?"

Toothless just looked at me like I just slapped him in the face.

"Do you seriously not know what ice cream is?" I shook my head no. "Well, it's something cold and sweet and can come in a variety of flavors like vanilla, chocolate, blackberry, or even rum."

"Oh. What is your favorite flavor?"

"Blackberry. But I want you to get vanilla. It's a very plain flavor, so you should be okay with how it tastes. Is that okay with you?"

"Y-yeah."

After walking around town (I never knew this place was so big!) for a few minutes, we made it. We got our ice cream and walked back to the woods where we were hanging out. Toothless still carried me. The only time he put me down was when he bought me and him some ice cream. The vanilla ice cream I had was amazing. Toothless' blackberry flavored ice cream was okay, but if I had to choose one over the other, I would go with vanilla.

I hope my father doesn't find out.

We hung around the lantern Toothless brought along and told scary stories. I refused to tell any stories. Toothless just finished his "scary" story when he told me to tell one.

"M-mine aren't that good. They a-always make people laugh at me. Then they lead m-me to a dark area and-" I cut myself off. If I keep telling these people how miserable my life is, they are never going to leave me alone.

"Hiccup, we would never do that to you. Go on, tell us one."

I did. It was about a boy who was always made fun of and beaten up. His father hated him very much and usually ignored the boy, but sometimes he will beat him, too. One day the boy goes missing. No one missed him. But the father noticed the boy was missing, went after him, found him and no one ever heard from the two ever again. However, a few days later, a couple found the boy's naked and mutilated body hanging in a tree. The boy was missing a leg though. The couple looked around the area until they saw the boy's father. He looked like he was eating something. The couple moved closer and when they saw what they screamed. The father was eating the boy's arm. When the father saw the couple, he gave them the same fate his son had.

"... the end," I said as I finished the story. When I looked to see to the other's facial expressions I was surprised to see the terrified looks on their faces. To be honest, the summary was not as gory and well detailed as the actual story I told to my friends. I even told them how the father tortured and murdered his son.

They were all huddled together at least six feet away from me.

"Do you always tell scary stories like that?" Toothless asked as he slowly walked over to me like he thought I was going to bite him.

"Yeah. well- not exactly like that story, but I tend to tell my stories in great detail."

"And people laugh at this kind of stuff?" Fishlegs questioned as he and the others slowly walked over to their original seats next to the lantern. I nodded.

"Well, on that morbid note, I think it is about time I give you guys the gifts I got you guys."

I flinched when Toothless then reached into his backpack. Astrid got a switchblade, Cami got a hatchet, Fishlegs got a survival guidebook, Meatlug got a compass and-

"...and Hiccup, this is for you. It was my old phone, but I got a new one a few days ago. Don't worry, my parents still pay for this."

He gave me his old phone. It was one of those smartphones. While everyone else was marveling about all of their presents, Toothless helped me set up my new phone.

"Why did you decide to give me this?"

"Because you didn't have one, and if something would've happened to you, we wouldn't have known about it until you tell us yourself."

"Oh. I guess that makes sense. Hey, what's the time?"

"It's 2:30 AM, why?"

My eyes widened. "I have to go now. Bye! See all of you guys whenever!"

Toothless' P.O.V.

The others and I watched as Hiccup took off before we could say anything or even offer him a ride home.

He didn't even get anything to eat other than ice cream. And how the hell is he still alive?

Two minutes after Hiccup left, we were all eating the food I brought along when we all heard a twig snapping. We didn't move a muscle for a solid minute. Then we heard more twigs snapping, but they kept getting closer. I quickly pulled out my handgun. The was when a crazy looking man attacked us. We were able to scare him off but before he disappeared into the woods, he said: "you should never have left him alone."

We all stood there confused at first until I finally realized who he was talking about.

"Hiccup!" I shouted before I ran after the man with the handgun in my hand. We ran for at least three minutes before we began hearing shouting and… sobbing?

When we found the two, the man held the poor kid down as the crazy man held a knife close to Hiccup's right eye.

"Keep your pretty little eyes open."

Hiccup was sobbing underneath the man babbling on about he needs to get home or else he's in deep trouble.

When the man slapped him, I shot the psycho in the leg. Hiccup took the opportunity to run. I never really got to tell him that is a very fast runner.

The police eventually came to take the man (after he tried to kill us all) and questioned us about the whole thing. Of course, we told them about what the man did to Hiccup. I really hope the poor kid is okay.

Sorry it's been a while since I updated. I have been busy with school and contemplating about life.

I got the idea of the way Toothless and Cami yells at each other from my friends. They do it all the time. It's actually kind of funny (in my opinion, anyway).

I really hope you guys like this chapter. Tell me in the reviews what you would like to see in future chapters.

Otherwise, have a great day/night! :)
