The next few days had gone a little slow for Jack, Tooth had visited him every day and judging by the fact he saw her sleeping on the chair next to him she had not been home for a few days. Her head laying on the hospital bed as she sat next to Jack. Jack smiled warmly at Tooth and ran his fingers through her black hair , wondering what her hair would look like short.
I bet her hair would look amazing short he thought as he looked down at her the guardians had been too busy to finish the the rest of the story due to finals approaching soon. He wished he could get out this of hospital and on a date with Tooth but she probably did not want to go with him anyways.
Jack laughed as Tooth turned her head to face him still asleep on the bed Jack brushed a few strands of hair from her face and watched her sleep peacefully beside him a few rays of sunlight hitting her sunkissed skin.
He bent down and kissed her on the cheek she blushed in her sleep and muttered "Oh Jack you're such a tease"as she smiled and continued to sleep Jack pulled away in shock.
Jack blushed and thought She's dreaming about me! She was so amazingly beautiful Jack could not help but stare, Jack wished that he had not passed out and got hit by that bus. But, if he didn't Tooth would not be cuddling beside him watching over him making sure he was safe the accident had been bittersweet.
Jack was so focused on Tooth he did not hear the door slam, or the big stomping feet of Aster E. Bunnymund Overland Frost as he inched closer looking at the scene with amusement wondering if he should take a picture of the two they looked so adorable.
Aster cleared his throat making Jack jump with shock Jack sighed and put his hands on his chest. "Don't do that". he said
Aster smirked and said, "Don't do what mate, visit you oh I'm sorry was I interrupting your little moment with your girlfriend I guess I can come back later". he said trying to get a rise out of Jack who just grimaced at him and winched in pain when he moved on the side where his ribs were broken.
Aster put his hands up and said, "Whoa Mate don't ya try to get up yet, you are not good to move for at least five or four weeks take deep breaths and try not to laugh to hard".
Jack looked at Bunny and said, "Where did you learn that"?
Bunny looked down at the ground and said, "My parents were doctors before they went missing and had left me in that jungle to fend for myself".
Jack and Aster did not say anything else for a while, the doctor had came in looked over Jack's chart and had told him, what Bunny had told him when he came in and asked a nurse to give Tooth a pillow and a drink of water, a couple of snacks knowing the girl would be starving when she woke up she had been up all night watching Jack. Protecting him the least he could do was make sure that she was well looked after too.
"Sorry about your parents". Jack said out of the blue, it had been two hours since they had said anything and he was getting bored they were playing a game of chess together. So far Aster was winning, but Jack had a few tricks up his sleeve.
Tooth had woke up a hour ago asking the doctors if they had anything to clean her teeth with and had practically brushed Jack's teeth for him since he could not get up much with his broken ribs. Jack blushed a deep red making Bunny laugh at him; never in his life had anyone tried to take care of him like that before! He did not mind Bunny's teasing, he loved the attention he was receiving from Tooth.
Delighting in her concern for him and her worry-wart attitude asking him things like, "Wow, Jack you are cold, are you always this cold? Would you like a blanket? or Would you like something to eat? Do you need more morphine should I get the doctor?
No one had cared that much about him before, it felt good to be cared for looked after. His parents were always so busy. He never got to see them much, they had left to go on another busy trip and would not be back for a couple weeks leaving Bunny in charge. So, his parents did not know about Tooth or the bus incident . At least he thought so. Ever since the guardians last visit he started to wonder if his parents were hiding something from him that they did not want him to know.
Bunny smiled and said, "Its fine, they were very busy most of the time, hardly got to see them when they were alive so it is hard to miss something you never really had".
Jack looked at him and said, "Really? I guess we are more alike than I thought. But, didn't you have any friends growing up, who watched you when you were a kid who took you to school?"
Bunny looked at him and said, "Why the sudden interest in me Frostbite before you hated me, could care less about my backstory something on your mind why the sudden change in heart"? as he moved his knight taking Jack's Bishop making Jack groan with frustration and look down at the board in deep thought.
"I don't know, maybe its the fact you and your guardian friends had been hiding a hard of my past from me for the past three years that I deserved to know about. The moment you got adopted because Tooth and I clearly knew each other before last tuesday". Jack snapped as he waved his hand across the board knocking it to the floor looking at Bunny with contempt.
Jack felt his lip quiver and shake as he turned his head away from Bunny afraid he might say something he will regret and looked down at his charm bracelet Tooth made him yesterday. The engraving was probably 's doing the calligraphy unmistakably beautiful.
Each charm represented people in his life. A brain for Mr. Mind, A black horse for Pitch, A dragon for Hiccup, A axe for astrid, a tooth... for well Tooth, vampire teeth for Mavis, a boy and arrow for Merida, a candy cane for North, a seashell for Sandy, a smiley face for her sister Emma, a snowflake for him and a easter egg for Bunny. He looked down at Bunny's charm and ripped off the bracelet and threw it on the floor.
Bunny looked down at the ground and said, "We really wanted to tell ya mate but we couldn't Manny told us not to, wanted you to seek the truth on your own to discover your center for yourself".
Jack glared at him and said, "I do not care,about what MiM says! I want to know how do I get my memories back, I want to know what happened that night".Jack paused and winched he was so angry at Bunny he momentarily forgot about his broken ribs. He did not even consider what lashing out on his brother could do to him.
He took a deep breath and begged in a quiet whisper "Please, Aster this is important to me, you were there can you please tell me what happened".
"Sure I will answer question you have". Bunny said as he picked up the charm and put on the nightstand beside Jack.
"First off, what is this center thing you keep talking about". Jack said It was not a question. It was a statement Jack wanted to know he was not semi sure he was one hundred percent sure.
Bunny laughed and said, "You always start with the hardest questions to answer don't ya Frostbite?! Wish North was here he is better at explaining it than me."
Jack frowned and said, "Just answer it, please".Not in the mood for his brother's teasing.
Bunny looked at him and said, "The center is what makes us Guardians Jack it is what we protect in is Hope with every egg that I paint, a child hopes there will be more and that's what I do".
Jack's eyes shined and sparkled with wonder as his mouth widened in awe making Bunny smile wishing North could see the pure child like wonder on the boy's eyes. North would have loved to see his center at work.
Jack's wonder was soon replaced by a smirk when he said," So you are the Easter Bunny then all this time, my brother is the Easter Bunny this is a great blackmail opportunity".
Bunny frowned and said, "Don't ya even think about it you bloody show Pony no one will believe ya anyway".
Jack looked at him with curiosity and said, "How come"?
"Easter Bunny is just a codename I use in the field, it does not mean I'm the actually Easter Bunny and even if that were true, you would not be able to prove it". Bunny Challenged Jack a smirk on his lips just waiting for Jack to make some witty comeback. He did not like his brother's trouble making ways but if it kept his mind of his ribs he would let Jack prank the hell out of him.
"I bet I could" Jack said
"Oh, you could huh"? Bunny said with amusement
"Maybe the fact you like to paint eggs all the time, have an obsession with chocolate, , like to eat carrots and the fact that your ears are abnormally large and that you move rather quickly should I go on"? Jack taunted
Jack could have sworn he saw his brother's ears twitch as he looked at him with shock and embarrassment a blush creeping on his cheeks. Jack let out a mischievous chuckle he was absolutely vivacious right now he had Bunny right where he wanted him and he knew it. He was like a scared rabbit being chased by a greyhound.
"Okay you got me ya gumpy, I have senses like a rabbit. So, in a way I'm like a bunny, when I was turned guardian I started to get rabbit like senses and quick reflexes . But, I can't actually turn into a rabbit until Easter unless Manny wants me to". Bunny explained
"What about North does he become old and fat or...is you know in disguise"? Jack asked comically as he looked around the room mysteriously
Bunny laughed and said, "Same deal, except for the fact that he is always fat his beard just becomes white and he come comes a bit more bossy thinks he runs the guardians since Manny does not talk to us much".
"And basically runs the best holiday in the world.. no big deal" Jack said nonchalantly as he put his hands behind his back looking at Bunny's expression through the corner of his eye with amusement. As Bunny's ears twitched and looked at Jack like he had lost ten easter egg painting competitions in a row. Jack could tell his brother despised being second best at anything. It was funny to see how competitive he and North were.
North had actually asked him before they left if Christmas was better than Easter to which Jack shrugged he loved both holiday's because he gets out of school to have fun. He honestly liked Halloween because he could trick people Jack thought that was the best but did not want to disappoint them.
Before Jack could ask more about the guardians and what they do Tooth came back in the room with a food tray a smile adorning her face as she gracefully balanced the tray with one hand making Jack wonder if she was a waitress in a dinner or had taken ballet. Her feet never seemed to touch the ground for long it was as if she was floating.
"Good morning Jack, I came back with the food you asked for". Tooth said kindly as she sat down next to Bunny starting at Jack with a love struck expression as she saw Jack look into the bag and gasp with shock and could see Jack's mouth twitch trying to hold back from yelling out with excitement.
In the bag was a frosty. Now Jack was not a big fan of wendy's but he loved frostys it was a lot better tasting then the food they served here. Inside was also a sandwich, and a tub of yogurt .Blueberry his favorite. He looked up at Tooth and blushed he must had talked in his sleep and had told Tooth to go get food because he did not recall sending her away to get these things.
"When did you-?" He began to ask but Tooth put her index finger on top of Jack's lips making him turn pink. He looked into her purple eyes as she blushed and put her finger down and looked at him shyly as if the reality of what she did just sank in.
"Jack its the least I can do, I know you have been having a craving for frostys because you told me when you were asleep, I know you personally did not ask for these things, but I thought I needed to get out and about anyways . I had not left the hospital since you had been taken from the school infirmary and admitted here and it has been six days."
Suddenly he realized there were was more in the bag, a box of crest 3D whitening strips Jack rolled his eyes and thought Typical Tooth. Before looking inside the bag again a harmonia a strange gift. Especially since Jack could not remember ever being able to play and a card that looked like a little kid drew on it.
"The card is from my sister, she can be a rotten little cavity sometimes but she is alright her name is Bethany but most people call her baby Tooth".
"Cavity? seriously Tooth "?! Jack said jokingly he secretly liked her little dentist joke and thought it was clever but wanted to see her blush again she was so cute when she was fluttered her hair would ruffle and fluff together like she was wearing a crown of feathers. It was adorable.
"What I am trying to lighten the mood a bit, ever since you got hit by the bus you have been a bit moody lately and I want the mischievous fun Jack Frost that we all know and love". Tooth said making Jack raise his eyebrow with amusement at her comment. Tooth blushed hoping Jack would not pick up on her little slip up .
"I mean you know to hang out with my friends,they had just started to like you around and everything plus school is not the same without you around ". She stuttered out
"Sure is that all I am to you, just a friend with perfect teeth you like to check out every once in a while "? Jack teased as he flashed a toothy grin at Tooth and winked at her playfully.
Tooth blushed and said "Come on Jack, that is hardly fair, that is not the only reason. People keep on asking me if I like you because your personality or because of your teeth and you know what I said".
"What ? Jack asked softly as he got closer to her his mouth a few inches away from her face she looked at him longingly for a moment or two taking the scent of snow and peppermint that nipped on her nose tickling and teasing her begging her to close her eyes and lean against him. She shivered but not because of his cool breath but because her hormones.
" I said, there's more to Jack than his teeth that is not all that I care about your teeth are nice yes. But, I like you because you are not afraid of taking risks not afraid to have fun. I admire that about you .Me? Well all I do is sit in front of book all day anyone can do that.
Not very many people can live life like you do Jack. You are the most extraordinary person I ever met your funny, kind, devoted, smart mischievous,Sensitive, blunt, and resourceful. You do not care what people think you do what you love and in today's world that is rare.
Most people try to blend in and try to do what society says, You? You go where the wind takes you so in short I like you because you are a free spirit".
"Wow, that is the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me". Jack said tenderly sounding little flirtatious without meaning to
Tooth looked at him shyly and said, "Enough Jack, its not funny anymore".
"Would I trick you"? Jack asked
Tooth blushed and said, "Yes you always play tricks".
Jack gasped nearly dropping the bag
"Jack I'm scared". Emma cried out as she looked at the ground the ice creaking beneath her feet. She looked up at Jack with fear.
"I know, I know but your gonna be alright we are going to have fun instead". ". Jack said
"No we are not'! Emma cried out looking down at the frozen lake nervously
"Would I trick you"? Jack asked
"Yes, You always play tricks! ". Emma cried
Jack chuckled and said, "Well not this time, your going to be alright you're not going to fall in" -Jack paused trying to think of a way to save his sister.
"Want play a game, were going to play hopscotch like we play everyday its as easy as one".- Jack took a step and winched as the ice began to crack under his feet. "Two" he said as he stepped towards his staff three Whoa he said pretending to fall on the ice trying to make his sister laugh
Emma laughed
"Okay its your turn now, one".
"Two". Emma chimed in
"Three". Jack said as he pulled his staff around Emma's waist pulling her along the shallow end of the ice. Jack smiled at his sister knowing his fate as long as Emma was safe he did mind death in fact he welcomed it knowing the guardians would want him after all he did.
Jack closed his eyes as the ice gave out forcing him beneath the cold dark depths of the lake. Jack tired to to swim to the surface but he was never a strong swimmer the water was too cold and too deep and slowly his heart began to move slower and slower.
"Jack" ! He heard his sister cry out
Jack took breath beginning the moon to keep his sister from coming down to try and save him. Little did he know that by doing so, he had alerted the guardians of his current condition.
The last thing he remembered was seeing a pair of purple eyes staring down at him and the sound of sirens and his sister's sobs before a strange man with a cane gave him a single tap of staff his eyes changed from brown to crystal blue before he passed out on the bank of the lake.
"Jack Frost you have been chosen" the strange man said
Jack gasped as he breathed heavily wondering how long his flashback lasted Tooth was looking at him, holding a canister Bunny had fallen asleep in chair muttering things under breath Jack laughed wondering if he had been asleep the entire time Tooth had showed up. Jack was secretly glad he did not know if he could handle his brother's teasing.
"Jack Are you okay"?
"Yeah I'm fine, sorry that really weird" he said rubbing the side his head and looking into her eyes she frowned and looked back and forth between the caster and his eyes Jack wondered what was inside but did not want to pressure Tooth into telling him.
"You got the center talk already right".
Jack nodded
"I'm the guardian memories these are your baby teeth they have all the answers you're looking for". Tooth said
"Tooth, are you really you know the Tooth fairy".
"Well, yes Iam but as Bunny told you I only turn into a fairy at night when the kids are too busy enjoying Sandy's dreams to notice me fly in".
"So are you old than me"?
she blushed and shook her head she did not like to talk about her age much their have been spirts and past guardians that got together with humans so it wasn't unheard of for someone like her to get together with someone like him after all her mother was a powerful warrior and then she decided to marry her father a normal human.
she smiled and said "No you are older". as she handed Jack the canister Jack looked down at it with worry what if he did not want his memories back the thing he craved since the whole started and now, he was not sure he wanted to know. What if he had been a terrible person?
Jack touch the center of canister and suddenly flash of memories happened right before his eyes Jack watched as the memories that he did not not need to know were fast forwarded until they reached the memory he wanted the first time he had met Tooth.
It was a normal claim morning in Burgess Jack was sitting at the bus stop again watching people laugh and talk to their friends not having a care in the world Jack never had a real friend before and he did not know why sure he made a few mistakes and he liked to do pranks but did that make him a bad person? No. It did not .
Or at least he would like to think so, everyone only knew of his weird obsession of winter and his need to go and have fun all the time sometimes cherrying little kids up when they were sad by making a fool out of himself kids loved it.
Kids his age did not seem to like him they always seem to gravitate towards people that keep up with the latest trends, while Jack preferred to do things the old fashioned way, people seemed interested in him until they find out he would rather do manual labor than play a video game for hours or that he did not really go on the computer enough to have 600 friends on his facebook.
Jack liked to read as crazy at that sounds, he had tried to get the trouble makers to look his way and everything seemed okay at first they had pranked people got a few laughs until they turned their back on him because he refused to tag on public property, steal or do a hit of drugs they left him in the dust alone by himself.
So general the reason Jack was alone was not because of his behavior or his background but merely because he was too kind and versatile he had too many interests and skills. it made people jealous to the point where they would abandon him all together; Jack was good at everything or had the potential of being good at everything if not for his habit of not listening to authority and trusting his instincts and natural curiosity.
"I wish I was not so alone".
Suddenly a girl walks up long black hair, colorful shirt like a hummingbird tooth necklace and the brightest smile he has ever seen. Her eyes were an exotic purple she had bangs that covered half of her nose making it look like she had no eyebrows her hair was black and wavy with colorful streaks of green, blue,and yellow in her hair.
"Hi can I sit here or would you like to be alone?"She asked kindly she had a small frame much smaller than his and he was pretty small she had flawless skin not a single freckle or zit to be found anywhere on her face her skin was smooth and looked soft to the touch she had long thick eyelashes that were strangely purple.
Jack snaps out of his trance he was so caught up in taking in her beauty he had forgotten to breathe for a while, it took him time to realize she had asked him a question he up looks at her and shuddered a bit finding it hard to think around her for some reason. Which was odd because of his lack of friends all he did was think after a few awkward attempts he says rather quickly.
" No it is fine , It fine please sit down". he said softly as he gestured for her to sit next to him patting the empty space on the bench as he picked up the books he had checked out from the school library a few days ago.
she sits down her hair ruffles a bit, swaying in the wind her eyes sparkling her head tilted to the side as she keeps her hair back behind her hand
"Sorry, To bother you but do you have the time, I just moved here from Thailand with parents and I am not familiar with american time".
Jack pulls out his pocket watch while still looking at Tooth amazed by her exotic beauty and then blushes when he notices her looking at him oddly. "Sure its seven thirty school usually starts at six but I do not have a first period so I get to come later".
Jack looks at her and offers his hand and says "I Am Jackson Overland Frost".
The girl looked down at his pale hand hesitantly but then gave it a nice firm grip making him shake a little by her strength she clearly works hard because her hands are calloused but still very warm and soft."Toothiana Hummings, Iam a amatur Dentist and I do a little photography and artwork on the side".
Jack smiles at Tooth and says "I am a Jack of all trades I davoli in sports, science, languages, and artwork".
Tooth gasps and with amazement and then laughs when she notices Jack wiggle his eyebrows suggestively when he says Jack of all trades and then says "Wow, my friends would to meet you, you are so funny" she as she inhaled and sighed happily as if it was the first laugh she had in a long time he had wished it was not the case.
"You think so"? Jack teased
the Wind blows violently, causing Tooth's sketchbook pages to fly off and scatter around Jack quickly goes to help Toothpick her drawings and notices a drawing that seemed freshly done of his face.
"Did you just do this right now"? Jack asked with amazement wondering if he could recall anyone capturing him so magically his hair a bit different it was a more fantasy approach to him his hair was white instead of brown and his eyes were a deep ice blue.
"Yeah, Iam a fantasy artist but I do a little bit of landscape work too" Tooth said as she picked up her artwork trying to resist the urge to blush when she felt her hand brush against his when he went down on his knees to help her her get her stuff.
"Really my room is a little bare about after school you help me paint my room"? Jack asked hopefully he would have asked his new brother Aster but he hates his guts at the moment, he did not have very many people who instantly hit it off with him when they first met. Clearly there was something there between them whether it was friendship or something more Jack was willing to find out.
"I do don't know I have never been in a boys house before". Tooth said shyly as she tucked her bangs behind her ears giving him a full picture of her face she had a heart shaped face with flawless skin. Her forehead was large but it was probably because of how smart and talented she was, she wore mangta eyeshadow that he did not notice before because the top half of her face was covered by her bangs.
Jack went down on one knee as if he was proposing to Tooth and said, "Toothiana Hummings your artwork is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen, you are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen please be mine".
Tooth blushed when Jack kissed her hand playfully flashing her a toothy grin Tooth gasped and then put her fingers on her mouth trying to resist the urge to giggle.
"Oh my god your teeth are so perfect what do you to them"? she asked with delight as she put her fingers in his mouth
Jack could say anything all that came out of his mouth was gibberish and incoherent sounds.
Tooth blushed and pulled away "I am so sorry, Its just I am a big tooth fan my parents are dentists well dad I have no idea he does and my mom I wish I could tell you and all I'm saying is I do not want you to hate or anything". Tooth rambled on
Jack smiled and said, "Its fine, I like the attention it beats alternative". he says softly as he looked down on the ground.
"Okay I 'll do it". She said
Jack gasped as the memory ended and he was engulfed in the light once more He was now taken into the memory of the time he had pranked Pitch big time by trashing his car filled with Bunny's easter egg dye he was not quite sure what happened to the car but he was sure Principal Pitch had gotten a new car.
He was not alone North, a tall black haired girl that looked a lot like Pitch,Mr Mind and a tall older woman wrapped around him were in the room while he just sat watching everyone else argue until he could think of something to say better to know what is on your mind when it counts then to say something you may regret later.
North had a big frame with a red high school styled jacket that said North on the back in silver letters he had a small stubby beard with thick brown eyebrows he was also big and tall people often asked him if he was a teacher.
Because of his massive size people were often afraid of North, at first but as soon as they get to know him, they realize he was only dangerous if you got on his bad side. For the most part he was joyful and curious about everything around him taking in the wonder of life like a small child.
"I swear it is not Frost's fault we were there yes". North said animatedly as he put his big beefy arms on his hips looking at the principal with confident in his answer.
Suddenly the girl stepped up and stood next to North she had very thick wild black hair with yellow eyes like Pitch her skin was pale she wore a green shirt that cut off on her bellybutton, she wore long baggy jeans she had a small locket around her neck, and had a very stern expression on her face. She hated it when her friends dragged her into their troublemaking ways she was not on her friend's side nor her fathers she was neutral.
" It is true father Bunny provided Jack he did nothing". the girl said as she looked up at her father knowing how hard it is to convince him to think otherwise she knew none of them would get their lunch today until the mystery of how his black car became a art reject overnight.
Everyone jumped when Pitch slammed his fist against his desk reminding everyone why people Pitch was called the boogyman to everyone on campus it was clear to everyone that Pitch was very upset, Everyone knew when to treat his nickname like a joke and when to take it seriously.
"I do not care whose fault it is my car is literally filled with paint and now just any paint permanent paint that did 700 dollars of damage to my car I know it was you Frost"! he said as he pointed at Jack who clearly did not want to be there he was sitting backwards in the chair and had his hood up looking down at the ground.
Jack pulled off his hood and faced Pitch and said, "So what if it was are you gonna cry about it did I break poor Pitches feelings its just a car you can take the bus I do".
Pitch glared at Jack and says "Perhaps you did not hear me 700 hundred dollars and guess who is gonna help raise the money to fix my car"?
" Jack right" North said
"Very Good Jack you are going to do community service". Pitch said as he wrote up the ticket and handed it to Jack with satisfaction he had been waiting for a chance to finally punish this trouble maker he had been causing problems for everyone unfortunately most reports he got they could not prove it was him until now.
Jack looked down at the ticket has his hands shook making the paper crumple suddenly his plans for the month and for weekend of spending time with his sister were thrown down the drain he could not ditch this or it would go into his record he had been caught he would admit he has down pranks but he didn't even do this one it was Bunny he was sure of it.
"What no I do not have time for that I have to take care of my sister Emma"!
Pitch looks around the room tapping on his chin with deep thought and says
"Lets see does anybody care about this ...Does anybody care about Jack's pathetic excuse to get out of trouble should he face the consequences of his actions"?
Everyone remained silent Jack looked like he wanted to crush Pitch with his bare hands or in this case feet
Pitch looked down and said "What the hell happened to your shoes frost bare feet is against the dress code"?
"Let's see if anyone cares about your dress code does anybody think that this free country and that I Jack Frost should have the right to walk around in bare feet"? Jack asked Mocking Pitch's speech from earlier a sly grin on his face.
Mr. Mind looked at Pitch and said, "Now Pitch be reasonable Jack was just doing harmless little kid stuff nobody got hurt that is the most important thing".
Mrs. Mind let go of her husband and said,
"Yes Megs is right, I came here to do a story on the big snow outbreak that spread in Burgess to see your car I know it costed a lot to repair but he was just trying to lighten the mood a little bit from what I heard a new bad guy had made its way into Burgess and it is scaring people".
"Besides it wasn't even me it was Bunny I was framed you gotta believe me"! Jack shouted
"And why would a model student like Aster do something incredibly foolish like that "? Pitch said with disbelief
"Because I did a big prank on him in the summer and he wanted to get me back and took his permanent easter egg dye and put it all over your car"! Jack said
"So what you're saying is it is your fault then if you had not pranked him in the first place you would not need to be punished right now am I correct? Pitch said
Mr Mind sighed and said, "Come on Pitch it is a two way street I say if you are going to punish Jack at least punish Bunny as well he deserves the same treatment as any other student".
Pitch sighed and said, Very Well I do not care what you do just remove them from my sight so I can eat my lunch in peace
Mr. Mind rolled eyes and silently mocked Pitch childishly and then muttered under his breath "Yes your majesty your wish is my command what a self absorbed jerk".he said as they left the room shutting the door behind him.
Jack laughed and said, "You are so cool it is still hard to believe you used to get teased you are like the coolest teacher I ever had it is going to be hard graduating knowing you will not be at my collage".
Mr. Mind leaned in towards Jack's ear and said, "Just between you and me did you really put that dye in his car"?
Jack grinned and then said "Yep".
"You should have seen his face it was priceless I helped set off bomb to car just to see the look". North said
Mr. Mind smirked and said, "You get an A plus for the rest of the year it is good that someone finally stood up to that guy I would if I was not the-infoed of him".
Everyone looked at him with confusion Mrs. Mind just smiled and shook her head as her husband did another mispronunciation again.
"Honey do you mean terrified"? She asked Slyly making everyone look at her with amusement it was very rare to see Roxanne Ritchi Mind at this time of day let alone on this time of week. She was a very busy woman being an on field reporter was a very demanding job. Jack did not watch a lot of tv but he does watch the news for the weather and so when he first met he was shocked that it was the star reporter of the Channel eight news.
Everyone laughed when blushed he pouted and said,
"Jack you were wondering why I do not make my wife get my lunch for me more often is because she is better than me at everything and it is frustrating but that is always why I fell in love with her."
"Well see you guys later I got to go to the spear the air club to help spread awareness about our environment". Said Emily Jane Pitchiner she was Pitch's daughter and she was a big tree hugger always defending forests and helping under pliveraged orphans like she was mother nature herself.
"And I got to go and meet up with the rest of the guardians to go to study group my grades are dropping and I need to study". North said
Leaving Mr. Mind, , and Jack alone.
Mr. Mind pulled out his classroom keys and opened the door once they got their his room looked like every other science rooms with lab tables microscopes the table of the elements and a skeleton in front of the room along with pictures and diagrams made by other classes.
Jack smirked when he noticed the TA in front of a stack of papers writing some side notes and correcting worksheets from other classes as he ate his lunch Jack always wanted to walk up to him but was afraid of rejection Hiccup seemed like a nice enough kid Jack hoped they had more in common than just their tall skinny frames.
Hiccup adjusted his reading glasses and continued to work unaware of 's return until he cleared his throat making Hiccup jump nearly dropping his can of soda on the paper he was correcting he put his glasses away and sat up smoothing out the wrinkles in his clothing.
" Hiccup you remember Jack right"? asked as he put his hands on Jack's shoulders with pride as if Jack were his own son. Jack considered like his crazy scientist uncle he always loved to joke around with him and show him his latest inventions.
"Umm Yeah why"? he asked with confusion
"Jack has dragged himself into community service and it is my job as his counselor and science teacher to find him a task to do go on the laptop with him and see if there are tasks that works for him" Mr Mind said
"Alright come with me" Hiccup said half heartedly as he gestured to follow him Jack followed Hiccup to the back room and grabbed a laptop and then sat down Hiccup pulled out his reading glasses again and said nothing to Jack for awhile before he asked,
"You must have done something really bad to get community service so what did you do?".
"I trashed the Principal's car". Jack said blankly
"Oh wow, that is really great any other genius plans lately". Hiccup asked sarcastically
"Well no, until I get done with community service I can not do anymore pranks with cops watching me". said Jack
Hiccup looked at him for a moment and said,
"You are really smart you know I always love correcting your papers because you do not make very many mistakes it is kinda a relief you not will not believe the stupidity I have to put up with all day".
Jack scoffed and said, "Tell me about it I got this new adoptive brother Aster and he hates my guts beyond belief and all I did was tell him I liked winter and doing pranks".
Hiccup looked at him and said, "Oh wow he sounds like a real Jerk".
Jack shook his head " He is not that bad he is just a little grumpy and full of himself most of the time but it is pretty cool to have an older brother at least he gives me the time of day".
"That's true". Hiccup said thoughtfully
Jack smiled he liked this kid a lot he was just like Jack pictured him smart, funny and awkward he wanted to talk more, but he was starting to feel uncomfortable. The back room was too small for two people and he felt like the walls were closing in on him.
The rest of the day was not needed, so he was brought into another memory it was hard to tell what was happening at first because it was at night and the setting was in the dark, part of Burgess in a alley way all that could be seen was blood. Jack knew he was getting closer to the truth he could feel it.
A gang of big tall men in black hoodies with yellow goggles around their eyes slammed a small, slim silhouette against the wall a cloud of black smoke surrounding the already dark alley way. Suddenly Jack jumped as he watched one of the men slammed the slim figure on the wall again this time the tiniest light flashed through enough to see a boy with brown hair and a fair complexion his face covered in blood.
" You have gotten in the way for too long Frost you think you are a hero but you're not we finally found you Snowflake you won't be any use to MIM when I'm done with you". A member of the Nightmare gang said he wore a black beanie with a black hoodie and yellow goggles around his eyes dressed head to toe in black just like all the nightmares, they wore the same thing using the mask of the night to spread fear in men,women, and children controlled by strings from their crime boss the nightmare king.
Jack had been an undercover with the guardians for years, years before he had ever met Tooth or the guardians. At first he was part of the spy network the information gathers group called the 'immortal spirits' there are thousands of spirits young and old dedicated in helping the weak and the helpless.
"You made a huge mistake you better let me go or I will make you". Jack said as he looked at the tall man that pinned him against the wall, a look of pure determination and anger in his brown eyes as he waited for the signal
The Nightmares just laughed at Jack, they almost felt sorry for the boy almost if not for the pure enjoyment and adrenaline rush rush they felt as they connected their fists in Jack's face. Jack gagged and coughed as they punched him in the face a tooth coming out from his mouth blood leaking down to the ground.
"We always suspected there was a mole rat in our numbers but we never would have suspected you too bad, I was actually starting to like you kid, but you decided to associate with those...guardians". one of the nightmares spoke out as he cringe with disgust at the very word guardian anything happy or joyful made them sick.
"Aww that's touching you really made me feel all tinglingly inside". Jack said bitterly trying to keep his mischievous attitude to help distract them, as he watched a few silhouettes fly through the sky and hop along the building, he had to make sure they were focused on him, or the entire plan would be ruined.
Jack had his normal blue hoodie on, he had a unity belt, but he could see their was something strapped to his back but he could not tell if it was a sword or not it was too dark for him to see anything so he decided to let the memory play out.
Suddenly the sound of explosions forced them to look away from Jack and drop him on the floor. It turned different colors when it exploded like fireworks each one of them getting louder and louder.
"What the heck was that?" One of them asked
"I do not know but it has got to be the work of those pesy guardians watch this one he is a lot more powerful then he looks he did this to my eye". the leader of the squad said as he pointed at a long jagged scar across his cheek.
"Understood." the rest of them said in unison as they watched the leader go one he was out of sight they turned towards Jack who stood near them getting into battle stance a confident smirk on his lips as his hands lingered on a pocket in his belt.
They all swarmed around Jack cornering him, but Jack was not worried he knew that the nightmares only did what their Nightmare king commanded of them they were merely replaceable pawns on the chessboard.
Jack and The nightmares stood still waiting for someone to make a move, when Jack lifted a foot or tried to reach for his pouch the nightmares raised their hands ready to spray Jack with their nightmare nightmares stared at Jack, Jack stared at the nightmares.
"Are we going to stand here all day or are you going to make a move because I have homework and other things to do". Jack said
The Nightmares refused to move, the boy seemed too confident to them like he had something under his sleeve they knew the boy was not dumb enough to charge them head on without a plan.
"No, you make the first move kid, go ahead test us you attack us and I will give you the worst nightmares you ever had". One of them threatened
"No, you go that way, when I beat you down to the ground I will not have to feel guilty afterwards" Jack said flashing his trademark smirk at them.
"Why you little brat"! One of the nightmares said he was about to rush at Jack to try and teach him a lesson but one of his comrades pulled him back and slapped him across the face.
"Pull yourself together he is trying to trick you, don't you see it is some kind of prank do not this brat effect you stay focused"
"How about I make a deal with you guys, surrender and give Sandy's dreamsand back to me and just walk away, nobody gets hurt and I do not get my hands dirty everyone wins". Jack remarked
"You talk a lot kid but I think you are all bark and no bite"!
"Yeah why don't you make a move are you scared"?
Jack smiled and shook his head for a moment or two before closing his eyes and opening them again his eyes changed instead of them being brown they were now ice blue. Jack pulled out the item from his back and pulled out a staff.
The Nightmares broke into a fit of laughter and disbelief that was the kid's big reveal the secret weapon he kept talking about while he got his face pounded to the ground countless times. A Stick? Guess the rumors about the kid weren't true after all he really wasn't as powerful as they said.
Suddenly Jack rose into the air and knocked the nightmares backwards with a strong gust of wind he used his staff like a surfboard and fly straight towards the nightmares using his staff to ram them in their faces.
He flew up in the air and did fancy flips and turns mocking the nightmares below knowing they would not be able to reach him, from the sky and then flew back down to the ground and kicked them in the face.
When the Nightmares tried to get up, Jack pinned them with his feet and pointed his staff near their faces and blasted them with a gust of wind and frost they gasped as they were sent flying towards the wall, Jack grabbed their weapons and used his ice powers to freeze them until they broke.
Jack grabbed them pinned them to the wall, and then used his staff to make a big sheet of ice to keep them from escaping covering their bodies all the way to their torsos but leaving their heads exposed.
Jack raised his staff ready to make the finishing blow that would turn these nightmares into nothing but black sand, Suddenly he looked at the fear in the nightmare eyes and he changed his mind, he decided he was going to use the new gadget that Hiccup had made for him Hiccup was the inventor he always made sure the guardians had alternative solutions in case they are low on belief.
The nightmares turned away and waited but nothing happened they looked at Jack as he pulled something out of his belt,they looked at Jack with confusion. Wondering why the boy did not finish them off.
" I warned you guys, but do not worry I'm not going to kill you I'm just going to make you freeze for a few days so you will not try to find us and report back to your master Jack said
"W-what is that"?
"These are liquid nitrogen grades, I do not necessarily need them to freeze you I can use my staff, but I need to save my energy for the battle to night so I will use this as my goodbye present, because the next time you wake up it will be behind bars". Jack said coldly
They were small hand grades with clear containers so you could look inside and see the clear blue liquid nitrogen, this was not just liquid nitrogen though, Jack infused his fun magic with Sandy's dreamsand so when they thaw from their icy coma, it was like they were waking up from a fun, relaxing nightmare free environment.
The Nightmare king's Nightmares were once people too, until the nightmare king possessed them and bended them to his will, turned them into nightmare sand not being able to turn back to flesh and blood until night time every night forced to serve him forever.
In a way Jack felt sorry for like he said, he had to save his energy on the real enemy and target the Nightmare King.
