Wow Wanna: I didn't even notice that little error! I accidentally used Kokichi's laugh for Kogure's snicker. Nice catch!
Enjoy the chapter!
(Change of scene to the holding cells of Hell)
The team was split into two bar cells, far enough to not touch but close enough to speak to one another. Apparently, demons don't have time to build one giant holding cell. In the first cell was Sakuma, Gouenji, Fudou, Tachimukai, and Tsunami. The second cell had Teres, Haruna, Toramaru, Tobitaka, Dylan, and Mark.
As every second passed, Sakuma and Gouenji continued to worry. You didn't have to read their minds to tell. Sakuma was curled up in the corner of the cell, rocking back and forth. And Gouenji, well, let's just say that if he continued to pace that rapidly, he may enter the time stream continuum.
No one but Gouenji heard Endou's cry. Endou and the team were near hell. Since the echo was faint, they must be further down the cave tunnels. But, no one could warn them about the danger that was around the corner.
This is bad. Kidou is off with a psycho demon while I'm stuck in a cell helpless to do anything. If only he looked back. Perhaps, I could of changed his mind.
Gouenji glanced around the bar cell. It was unusually quiet; nobody was talking to one another. Guess everyone was feeling hopeless at the moment. "Why does Kidou have to be so stubborn and cute." Wait, what?
Everyone remained silent; no one really had a response to his question. They were still surprised by Kidou's actions as well. Some of them had barely know him for a short while. Only one of Kidou's best friends, Sakuma, seemed to answer him.
"It's not stubbornness, Goeunji; it's determination. It's how he has survived this far. Kidou has gone through much worse. He has already visited hell, and every time, he comes back. You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Trust me."
What does that mean, Sakuma?
A subtle laugh could be heard in the opposite side of the cell. Chills ran down Sakuma's back from hearing the menacing laugh.
"Ha! Kidou may appear to be to a hero. But, he is hardheaded like always. What do you expect from a brainless, selfish captain? We all have inner demons. Kidou is no different than anyone here.""
"Fudou!"
Fudou wasn't phased by Sakuma's yell. He just flipped his mohawk and returned to looking outside the bars.
"You know nothing! How dare you assume that all of a sudden you are an expert about Kidou's life. You haven't known him as long as I have." Sakuma's voice grew louder and louder. "Unlike you, I actually care about what had happened to Kidou. If anything, you are the spineless one here!"
It felt as if Sakuma just dropped a atomic bomb in the middle of the cell. Afterwards, the conversation stopped there, unsure where to continue. No one felt like arguing with Fudou, not even Sakuma.
They needed to move along, every second was valuable to survival.
Small sobs could be heard from one of the cells. It was Haruna crying softly in Toramaru's arms. "This is all my fault! If only I wasn't taken, then Onii-chan would not have to be with those demons! I can't even imagine how he feels right now. I miss him."
Beside her stood the American Striker, Dylan Keith. No one likes to see a young sweet girl cry. So, he tried to cheer her up. "Now now baby. It will be alright. We just have to stay positive! Right Mark?" He gave Haruna a sweet thumbs up.
In front of Dylan stood his captain, Mark. "Right." he replied.
The conversation was overheard by the surfer in the other cell. "Kinda hard to stay positive when we're stuck in these cells." remarked Tsunami.
Tsunami was elbowed roughly in the side by Tachimukai. "Ow! Just trying to be realistic here..."
"What are we supposed to do then?" said Tachimukai.
There is only one option. "We are going to do what we failed to do before. We are going to escape." spoke Gouenji. Gouenji decided that this was the best moment tell about what he heard earlier. "Guys, I think Endou is near."
"Captain?"
"Yea. It was faint, but it was definitely our captain. They must have rescued Rika and are coming here soon. None of them know what has happened here. We have to escape and warn them before it's too late!" He spoke with fury in his voice and fire in his eyes.
"Wow! What an inspiration speech genius. What do you propose then?" spoke Fudou sarcastically.
Goeunji may not be a master strategist like Kidou. But, he wasn't called the flame-striker for nothing right? Hell is where flames burn the brightest and hottest. All we need is a distraction.
"Hey Fudou, wanna help me out with something?"
Fudou was looking outside the cell bars still. He wasn't looking at Gouenji directly, but you could see that he was grinning widely. Let's use his anger to their advantage.
"Hmmph."
That's all the confirmation Gouenji needed.
(Scene change to demon lair with Kidou)
After leaving the white team, Kidou followed Desuta into the demon lair. Desuta shoved him into a dreary small room where he was supposed to stay. Now, Kidou was now sitting there thinking about his decision.
He knew that this was a bad idea. What other choice did he have? Sacrifice his little sister or offer himself as a replacement? Neither option was honestly great. But, Haruna was safe for now and that's all that mattered. However, he was still afraid.
The demon guard in the corner wasn't helping at all either. Ever since he was shoved into this room, the demon continued to hatefully glare him down. All Kidou wanted to do was awkward sit in the opposite corner.
"Well well little sacrifice, you should feel honored. Normally, Desuta isn't that open to new ideas. He must see something in you that most don't. I like that."
Now that is just pure creepy.
The demon guard wouldn't have talk to him without a reason. Intimidation? Fear? He must have wanted him to talk back. Perhaps, beg for him to spare his life and change Desuta's mind. This idea was just an assumption based on given evidence. But, he was sure that he was correct. Kidou wouldn't give him that satisfaction.
Stay strong, Kidou. Don't show him any signs of distress. You have faced greater demons than these guys, mostly Kageyama. Yea. if you can handle him, this will be nothing. It won't be long... until… then.
That moment, Desuta walked into the room, holding what he assumed new ritual clothes. Desuta dropped the clothes onto the ground in front of him. Guess he had to change.
"The time has arrived! Leave guard! Stay outside the door! I want to speak with the boy alone."
The guard understood his orders immediately, standing up and shutting the door behind him.
"Now, come here, let me have a closer look at you."
Desuta kneeled down in front of Kidou. Wanting to get a better view, he forcefully grabbing Kidou's chin to observe his sacrifice and lifting it slightly for a better view.
No one likes to be roughly pushed around like a toy, that includes Kidou. What am I, an object to display?
"Now, don't be afraid. I just can't see your face behind these ridiculous looking googles. Let's take off those hideous things! What was these, binoculars?" Desuta briefly laughed at his little joke before reaching for Kidou's googles.
Desuta grabbed the blue google strap and ripped it off Kidou's head. Breifly desuta glanced at the googles before discarding them. As Desuta threw off Kidou's googles, he was welcomed with the most beautiful sight he had ever seen. The boy had fierce blood red eyes that glared back into his. Ruby red, the color of hatred, anger, and vengeance.
He knew something else was special about this boy. This boy had experience betrayal, rage, revenge before. After all, humans say that eyes are the window to the soul. Curiosity got the best of Desuta. He wondered what secrets this young boy was hiding.
"So, boy, tell me a little about yourself. After all, I may be the last person you ever speak to."
"My name isn't 'boy'. It's Kidou, Kidou Yuuto."
Desuta wasn't phased with Kidou's backlash comment. "Well, that's surprising. Yuuto means gentle and tender. But, that doesn't describe you at all. There is nothing mellow about you, not that I can tell. All I can see is a mix of despair, hostility, betrayal, pain. So, tell me, what made you this way?"
Don't tell him anything important. He may use it against you.
"Why do you care? My life means little to you anyway. When did my past become so interesting to you!" Kidou's voice grew louder and louder as he spoke, totally forgetting to stay calm.
"Oof, looks like I hit a soft spot there. We all have to at some point address our wounds. Or else, they continue to bleed out, leaving behind scars as reminders of our carelessness. I just want to know how many wounds you have foolishly forgotten to care?"
"Shut up!" yelled Kidou. He was starting to get agitated with his questioning.
"Why, Yuuto? Life has little meaning, so why not share? Do you want to die caring such a burden on your soul? Was it something or someone? Ohhh, were you abandoned and betrayed by those closest to you?"
Too many questions. Why can't he just leave me alone! This experience is hard enough as it is. I'll never get to say goodbye to Haruna, Sakuma, or Gouenji. I never got to tell him that I…that I…..
"Why won't you just leave me alone!" Kidou screamed.
Kidou never actually wanted to do this, yet alone sign up for an interrogation. Since Kidou wasn't bound by chains at all, in one swift movement, Kidou quickly rose up to punch Desuta in the face. But, Desuta anticipated Kidou's movement and blocked his punch single handedly. Kidou had blindly thought about his actions.
Desuta stared down at Kidou. "Don't get too feisty little boy. Cooperation is key here. You're in no position to fight me."
"I said my name is Kidou Yuuto!" panted Kidou.
"I know. I just like seeing to riled up in anger. It allows me to see the fire in those deep red eyes of yours."
Desuta let go of his grip on Kidou's fist and shoved him backwards against the wall. Kidou's back collided against the wall causing Kidou to yelp in pain. Tears started to form in the corners of his ruby red eyes.
"I'll be back momentarily. Be ready or their will be further consequences."
So much for staying calm, Kidou.
Kidou leaned against the rough wall, feeling defeated. His ruby eyes stared at the ritual clothes lying on the floor. He needed to change clothes before Desuta returned.
This really was a terrible idea.
End Note: That's all for now!
Also, I am in need of some help. I would like to add Desuta as a main character. However, he isn't registered/listed in character list. If multiple people email Fanfiction for character request, it will happen. Request details are under "Help" below. Thanks!
Chapters are coming out slower than expected due to writer's block. But, I'll find motivation soon.
