Aana: the Other Air bender
Book One: Water
Chapter Two: Remembering
A/N- this chapter is really short but I have another one on the way so don't get too mad! I just wanted to post SOMETHING so you poor readers wouldn't think I had completely abandoned you. Because I didn't. I only abandoned you a little bit.
She closed her eyes and let her memories take her back in time…
"Please, you can't tell her." I was Aang, talking- no, more like straight up begging- to the other temple boys. Who was this "her" they were talking about? And what couldn't she know? Aana's curiosity was peaked. "She's me sister," Aang continued, "and she needs to hear it from me first." Well, that solved one mystery.
Now that she was aware of the desperate secrecy that Aang seemed to possess, Aana abandoned her original plan to greet her brother and instead retreated to a convenient hiding place behind a temple wall. She could barely see her twin from her spot, only being able to catch short glimpses of him, but she could hear the conversation just fine.
"But I don't understand," one of the younger boys piped up, "why wouldn't you want her to know?"
"I, well, it's not that I don't want her to know…" Aana could tell from his voice he was looking down while he talked, a habit they shared when confronting difficult topics, "I just want to be the one she hears it from. It's pretty big news and she might freak out." How little faith he had. Rude. "Just don't tell her, ok?"
Some of the boys nodded, and Aana heard a few mumble their understanding. "Thank you. Thank you so much. I have to go now, but remember, SHE CANNOT FIND OUT!" And with that Aang came dashing out from around the corner and almost took down Aana as she was walking away.
"Hey, Aang…" there was a slight unsteadiness to her voice "want to go play air ball?" Her brother looked away from her.
"Um…that's ok…I, uh, have to go…see ya!" and he was gone, just like that.
"Ok…see you later then…" Aana said to no one but herself.
