Jed and the Digitals

Chapter 3

After seeing Rage and Odd having coffee together, Sissi, Nick, Herve, and Jet went berserk and started trashing the place, disrupting the peace, attack people like crazy. The two boys saw this which caused Odd to retreated.

"Leave you alone for 5 minutes and look at what happens!" Sissi shouted at Rage. This caused all five to get into a screaming match with Rage defending his actions and the older Deltas calling him a traitor. At one point, a 16-year-old boy pops up asking Sissi for an autographs and she refuses by backhanding him in the face.

Hours later, back at Kadic Academy, the Deltas had been given detention by Sissi's father, Jean-Pierre Delmas, who was downright embarrassed by her behavior. They were watching the incident in the company of another boy, Crash. He had pale skin, neck-length black hair with pink streaks and turquoise eyes. He was also quite tall for his age. He wore a black tank top over a violet short-sleeved jacket, violet cymbals bracelets, black shorts, a sea green belt, and black ankle boots that concealed white ankle socks.

Sissi, stilled miffed at Rage, turned to the dark red haired boy and shouted, "You'd better lucky no one saw with the Kadic Casanova!"

"It was just coffee," defended Rage, "We didn't commit a crime!"

"Yes, you did," Nick shot back, "The crime of betrayal!"

"You basically signed the Judas contract, Rage!" Jet added.

"Well, maybe if you guys haven't ditched me to do the stupid signing alone…," Rage started.

"Ah-hah," Herve interrupted, taking a seat between Sissi and Rage, "So you admit you were wrong!"

"No, I…,"

"You need to get in line, Rage," Sissi interrupted shoving Herve to the floor, "I don't have time for a Brutus in my band!"

"Brutus?" Nick asked Jet quietly.

"Treacherous git," Jet whispered back.

"Nobody even saw us, dang it!" shouted Rage, "The only reason we're on the news is because you four stormed in and started tearing mess up!"

"It's called a distraction, dude," said Crash.

"Crash, shut up! This is band business!" shouted Sissi, before turning back to Rage and saying, "We stopped a million posts about you looking lovesick over the Kadic Casanova of all people who, need I remind you, is your competition in the Battle of the Bands. Social media would've been all over it. Instead, it's just destroying stuff."

"As per usual," whispered Rage.

"Dude, it's like bandmates before dates," said Nick, earning him a fist bump from Jet.

"Listen, Rage, this is non-negotiable," said Herve with venom in his voice, "If you want to keep your place, then you will not date the enemy!"

Moments later at 8:00 pm, Jarrod was waiting by the Eiffel Tower waiting for Robin while his older brothers were waiting nearby in the car. Jarrod was dressed casually for his first date, wearing a red dress shirt under a maroon jacket, maroon ripped jeans, black ankle socks, and red Sanuks. His older brothers, more specifically Jericho, weren't too keen on the date, since she technically made a bad impression on them having stalked their baby brother via Odd's Twitter feed.

"Jarrod!" called a voice. The small boy turned and saw his Amazon-sized date. Robin wore an aquamarine blue, sea jean jeans, white stockings, and aquamarine pumps. To accessorize, she wore a silver necklace. After seeing Robin, Jay rolled down the window and said, "Call us when you need a ride back to the school!" Jarrod gave him a thumbs up. AJ starred Robin down from the passenger seat and let her know that he was watching her. After that, the older brothers drove off back to the house.

"I'm guessing your brothers don't like me that much," said Robin.

"It's not that," Jarrod assured, "They're just super overprotective of me."

"Well, I did make a bad impression on Jay, so the least I could do is make it up to him. Come on," said Robin as she led Jarrod to an amusement park. (A/N: I am a strong believer in gender equality, so since Jarrod is too short to do most of the things guys do on the first date, the gender roles have been switched.) The first thing Robin did was buy Jarrod some cotton candy, of course he got pink while she got blue.

"I need to let you know that I don't usually do this," said Robin a little tense.

"You mean do the guys role on the first date?" asked Jarrod.

"No, I meant track little boys down and force them to go on dates with me."

"You didn't force me."

"I know. I just felt like I should let you know that I don't do that."

"Good," said Jarrod with a smile.

Meanwhile, back at Kadic Academy, Jeremie, Odd, and William were hanging out in the Wreck Room wearing their pajamas, seeing no point in wearing their actual clothes at this time of night. William was strumming away on his guitar, Jeremie was reading a science textbook for an upcoming exam, and Odd was sitting on the sofa next to Jeremie with his bare feet on the coffee table, sighing for what seemed like the fifth time already.

After sixth time, Jeremie got annoyed, held his textbook above Odd, and said, "Odd, if I hear one more sigh outta you Imma feed you this textbook!" (A/N: I figured that since they were hanging around African-American characters that each of them should adopt some Madea-like mannerisms)

"Sorry," said Odd. After Jeremie drew back the textbook Odd asked, "Where's Yumi?"

"Babysitting Hiroki," replied William.

"Ulrich?"

"Soccer practice."

"Aelita?"

"DJ gig," replied Jeremie.

"Mozart?"

"Jay, AJ, Shane, Ronnie, and Kyle dropped him off at the Eiffel Tower."

"Yeah, he has a date tonight," said William teasingly. This perked Odd's interest.

"No way! His very first date?!"

"Yeah," said Jeremie, "Some girl that writes for the Beat. She's covering the Battle of the Bands."

"Cool, where did they meet?"

"At the Phoenix Community Center, oh and FYI, you are in so much trouble for bailing!" reprimanded William.

"I know. I got the texts like all five billion of them. So, is she hot?"

"Totally hot. So, where did you slip off to?"

"I had an emergency." Jeremie and William looked at each other, their curiosities peeked.

"What kind of emergency?" asked Jeremie.

"A… crush emergency."

"Oooh, so that's why you're sighing."

"So, who's the newest notch in your belt, guy or girl?" asked William.

"Guy," answered Odd, "And this one is super dreamy."

"Can it be? Odd Della Robbia, the Kadic Casanova, in love?" asked Jeremie.

"Looks like it," answered William.

Odd sighs, "Too bad he's outta my league."

"Woah, back up, since when is anyone out of your league?" asked Jeremie.

"Since now maybe."

"I see," said William.

Odd perked up again and said, "Can you guys help me?"

"Uh-uh, not me," said Jeremie, "The last time I helped with one of your romantic escapades, it ended in violence."

"Right, that girl that threw you in the pool, I almost forgot about that."

"Uh-huh, sure you did." The three boys laughed at that situation. Until Odd unexpectedly hugged Jeremie.

"Please, Einstein, I need advice! Please!" Odd cried.

Jeremie sighed and said, "Okay, tell us about this boy."

"Yes!" Just then, Aelita and Ulrich came back in with their pajamas in tow.

"What's going on?" asked Ulrich, sitting on the sofa to take off his shoes.

"Odd likes someone," Jeremie teased.

"Must be Tuesday," Aelita laughed.

Back at the amusement park, Jarrod was talking about it big brothers to Robin. Talking about how Jay had taken up the role of father after their father died which is the reason why he is extremely overprotective of the siblings and that he majored in business and nursing. He then talked about AJ being the jack of all trades and how he's super good at a lot of things, which is why he's majoring in Engineering. He described how Shane and Ronnie were basically the mediators of the brothers and how Shane was majoring in Fashion Design and Ronnie in Agriculture. Finally, he talked about Kyle is the comedian like how he's so silly and loves to make them all laugh and about him majoring in Music.

"You six sound close," said Robin, "I'm an only child and I've always wanted a sister."

"I don't know what I'd do without them," said Jarrod as he looked out and saw the lights of the carnival.

"Pretty impressive, huh?" asked Robin after seeing how amazed Jarrod was.

"That's the reason I love to come up here or the Eiffel Tower, things look different from another angle. Everyone sees things from a different view."

"You must be a good writer," complimented Jarrod.

"Not as good as you," said Robin referring to the cover of Destiny's Child, "I'm not trying to pry, but why didn't you sing?"

Finally feeling comfortable, Jarrod finally said, "I'm just not a performer I guess."

"Not one for the spotlight?"

"You could say that."

"I prefer the sidelines myself."

"I don't see why, if I was confident like you…"

"Then, what? It would be Jarrod and the Digitals?"

"Maybe."

Robin lightened the mood by telling him the benefits to being backstage, saying that he'll get to see his band becoming very fast as a performance was just a performance. The real story is what goes on behind the scenes. (A/N: Yes, most of this is dialogue from the Jem comics, but like I said, the storyline is based off the comics. I'm not exactly original, okay?)

Meanwhile, at the gym, the Deltas were shooting a music video for another song. Sissi's hair was in a half-braid and wore a black top hat, a magenta one-sleeved midriff shirt, black hot shorts, magenta ¾-length leggings, and black pumps; Nick wore a black cap, dark blue ¾-length long sleeved shirt, black ripped jeans, and black sneakers; Herve wore a black fedora with a lime stripe, forest green long-sleeved shirt, black leather pants, and black Sanuks; Jet wore a black tank top under a white vest, black shorts, and black knee boots; and Rage wore a black sleeveless shirt, black gauntlets, maroon shorts, and black Chaco sandals with maroon straps.

(Deltas: Love me, hate me,

Say what you want about me.

But all of the boys and all of the girls are begging to…) (1)

"Cut! Cut! Stop! SHUT UP!" shouted Sissi, effectively stopping the band and shooting.

"Um, what's the problem, Ms. Delmas?" asked one of the crew.

"EVERYTHING!" shouted Sissi, "WE MIGHT NOT BE RECORDING SOUND, BUT I CAN STILL TELL WHEN WE'RE OFF AND I CAN'T FAKE A PERFORMANCE IF WE SOUND BAD!"

"I understand, Sissi, but we need to keep going. We're already behind and…" the crew member cut himself off when he saw Sissi's miffed off expression.

"Get out," Sissi growled, "TAKE FIVE OR WHATEVER, I NEED TO TALK TO MY STUPID BANDMATES!" The boys know they were in trouble.

"WHAT THE HECK?!" Sissi shouted at her bandmates, "YOU'RE ALL FREAKIN' OFF TODAY! YOU SOUND WEAK AS HECK!"

"I thought we sounded pretty good," said Rage, trying to keep the peace.

"You were so late, Rage!" Herve shouted out.

"EXCUSE ME!"

"Calm down, Rage," said Nick.

"Yeah, if anything, Herve was early!" Jet said, throwing Herve under the bus.

"Now hold up one minute!" dejected Herve.

"Oh, shut it!" shouted Sissi, "You all were late!" Sissi went to go sit down when she saw Crash on the bleachers on his laptop. Curious, she snuck up behind him to see what he was looking at. When she saw a picture of Yumi, Odd, Aelita, Jed, Jeremie, and Ulrich she wigged.

"WHAT IN THE HECK IS THAT?!" she shouted, scaring Crash.

"Oh, well, I set up a Google Alert for Jed and the Digitals and I saw that they were doing a benefit show this weekend," Crash informed.

"WHAT?!" Sissi shouted, obviously getting ticked off as the rest of the Deltas gathered around to hear what's going on.

"Jed and the Digitals, a local band hot off their debut video entered in the Battle of the Bands, will be filling in for MC Jagged Stone at the Phoenix Foundation's annual fundraiser benefit," Crash read as Sissi rose from the seat, "The freshman band is seeing record numbers of views and votes in the competition, which will be live streamed on Facebook, that have all but guaranteed them a win for the competition and the record deal. Jed and the Digitals are a last-minute addition to the performance after Stone was forced to pull out of the star-studded event…"

"Star-studded celebrity event?!" cried Nick, "Those jerks!"

"Using the contest to get themselves gigs!" Jet chimed in.

"Isn't it for charity?" asked Rage confused by their reaction.

"Weren't you listening?" Star-Studded Celebrity Event! That's not charity!" Herve explained.

"That's like big money, big stage, big audience of powerful people!" added Jet. Before Rage could say anymore...KRRACKSSSMASH! The boys turned around to see the origin of the sound and discovered that Sissi smashed the guitar.

"I am so glad Robin, Tamiya, and Milly aren't here," said Rage in embarrassment as Sissi continued her rampage. As soon as she was done, she turned to her band and shouted, "THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL!"

"Maybe we could…"

"Shut it, Crash! This has nothing to do with you! Jed and the Digitals have to be stopped!"

Meanwhile, at the Ishiyama household, Takeho and Akiko were still out while Yumi was still babysitting Hiroki and apparently his friend Johnny. While the two boys were playing video games, Yumi was on the computer video chatting with William and the rest of the Digitals about Odd's situation.

"Hold up," said Yumi, "So, you just abandoned this boy at a coffee shop?"

"There was an incident," Odd explained, "I had to get outta there for his own good. And mine."

"Hmmm, this is getting more mysterious by the second."

"What's this boy's name anyway?" asked Aelita.

"John," Odd said. The others knew he was lying.

"Last name?" asked Ulrich suspiciously.

"Doe?" The others just laughed at the other lie, remarking how bad of a liar Odd had become since Lyoko shutdown.

"So, did you call this boy?" asked William, "To apologize or explain?"

"No," Odd sighed.

William gave an exasperated sigh.

"Just send a text," suggested Jeremie, "Apologize and explain. Keep it short and sweet."

"Okay," said Odd.

Yumi hangs up while the others go back to the couch to watch a movie.

"Easier to control a text message than a babbling Odd voicemail," said Jeremie.

"The force is strong with you," said Ulrich. Jeremie just smiled as in the distance Odd was coming up with the perfect text message for Rage.

Back at the gym, while the Deltas were having another video shoot, Crash walked out to have a private phone chat with an old friend. The person on the other line was a young man with pale skin covered with freckles with shoulder length red hair with blond streaks to look like a flame and soft brown eyes. He was wearing a black sleeveless shirt with orange shorts as he was doing yoga when he got the call. When he saw who was calling, he immediately frowned up and answered the phone.

"Crash?" asked the young man in playful discontent.

"Yo, Burn," replied Crash, "Long time, no see."

"Not long enough."

"Well, you can't be that mad at me since you answered your cell."

"Maybe so, but I can still hang up."

"Come on, don't be that way…" as they were conversating, Robin had dropped Jarrod off at the Eiffel Tower with a giant plush purple dinosaur (A/N: Yes, it is Barney the Dinosaur. Don't judge!) that she won for him. Jay and the Wyricks picked him up and made a drive back to the school, even though they were happy that Jarrod had a good time, Jay and AJ still weren't ready to warm up to Robin. Shane and Ronnie looked back smiling at Jarrod hugging his new stuffed animal (he has six already). Meanwhile, Odd had just sent his text message to Rage and sat on the couch with the others comforting him. After the Deltas got done wrapping up the video, Sissi looked at the smashed guitar despondent while Nick, Herve, and Jet went to get dinner, and Rage looked at the message from Odd. "I need a favor...Yes, I'm still hanging with the Deltas and I need to get something done for them...Mmm-hmm, you still volunteering for that catering company?... And you're doing that big fundraiser thing at the Phoenix Foundation this year right?... Great. I need you to get me on the wait staff for the fundraiser and don't worry I will totally show up...Why you ask? Because it's Jed and the Digitals' first show...and I wanna see to it that it's their last!" Crash said with an evil grin.

Before anyone asks, yes, Crash is based off Clash from the original Jem series just like how Burn is based off Blaze from the Jem comics series.

And Jagged Stone is from the French Anime series Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir

The chorus sung by the Deltas was If You Seek Amy by Britney Spears. You'll see the full version in the next chapter, fear not.
