Angels Falling In Love
Dreams of Angels plague a young Daisuke Niwa, a red haired girl with a kind heart. She was turning 14 and had built up the courage to confess her love for a classmate only to be rejected. With her broken heart comes a transformation into a great thief.
Chapter Four: What Was He Thinking?
A Few Days Later
Today Daisuke and her class had gone on a field trip to a nature park for the annual snow hike. The class had been split into partners but there was an odd number of boys and girls so one boy and girl had to be partnered up for the hike.
"Ah! Why can't you be with Hiwatari, Daisuke? He's so cold." Risa complained about Satoshi, who was a few feet in front of them, having been the unlucky one to be partnered with a boy, namely Satoshi Hiwatari. Daisuke and Riku were on her right side with Daisuke closest to her. Normally it wasn't a problem when one student didn't go on the trip and the one without a partner joined a pair of the same gender, which meant Risa usually just joined her sister and friend.
Risa pouted, but there was a noticeable shiver as she was wearing a white skirt with a plaid white fur lined jacket over it and white winter gloves. While Riku had on winter jeans and a light brown pull over jacket. Daisuke was wearing winter jeans as well, and a red winter coat with a yellow scarf around her neck. Both dressed more appropriate for a hike up a snowy mountain.
"I mean come on. You like him, and he's so not my type." Risa said, as they kept walking but trying to keep out of Satoshi's hearing range, or so they thought. They didn't notice the device hidden in the bulenet's ear that amplified sound.
"What do you see in him anyway?" Riku asked, taking a glance at Satoshi's back, to be sure he wasn't listening into their conversation, and she thought he wasn't. "Well…" Daisuke was unsure if she could tell them with Satoshi so close, she suspected he could hear them anyway.
"I can feel that... he's lonely..." Daisuke nearly whispered, blushing as she hoped he couldn't hear her.
"That he can bring himself to care for someone because..." She was saying before a strong wind came and muted her words. A Rika shivered and held down her skirt to preserve her modesty, but allowed her hat to be blown into a tree.
"Oh no, my hat!" Risa cried out, the pink hat having been a gift from her now deceased grandmother and her favorite. "I told you not to wear a skirt on the hike." Riku scolded her sister, hands on her hips.
"How do we get it back?" Rkia asked, pouting a bit before Daisuke smiled at her, relived to be off topic. "Don't worry Risa, I'll get it back." Daisuke told her and looked for a way to retrieve the treasured item for her friend. It seemed the only way to do that was to use some of her thief skills but anyone could still do it with the right training. Daisuke jumped over the rail as her right hand reached for the hat and her left hand held on to the icy rail.
"Daiuske, get back here! You'll get hurt!" Riku yelled, worry clear in her tone, Daisuke looked back at her. "Don't worry, I'll be fine." she assured Riku as she let the rail go and jumped to a branch and grabbed the hat.
"Got it!" Daisuke exclaimed at her accomplishment but she then heard a cracking noise. Her head snapped to at were the branch connected with the trunk and was splitting.
"Daisuke! GET BACK HERE, THE BRANCH IS GOING TO BRAKE!" Riku yelled, worried for her friend now as the branch couldn't hold her seemingly light weight, then again Riku didn't know how much muscle her friend had. Daisuke tried to jump off the braking branch and grabbing the railing but it was slick with ice that it slipped from her grip, as white abyss waited for the red head to fall.
"DAISUKE!" The Harada sisters yelled in panic and a flash of blue went after her into the abyss, after that the twins could see noting but white bellow."Was that... who I think it was?" Risa asked, looking at Riku beside her who looked back at her with wide eyes.
"I think that was." She said turning to her twin. "Because he has a crush on her, or because she need saving?" Risa asked and Riku shrugged as they had to explain the situation to the teacher who marched up to them angrily from leading he rest of the students.
Daisuke
'What... happened?' Daisuke thought as she opened her eyes, having blacked out about half way down the fall. She tried to sit up but felt someone's arms around her waist, preventing her from getting up. Blinking in confusion she looked to see whose arms they were, and they were.
'S-Satoshi!' Daisuke realized in panic and tried to get off of him. She sat beside him took off her right glove and felt his neck for a pulse that was still there, he was still alive. She sighed in relief but wondered how he could have gotten under her as she fell.
'Oh, thinking like a naughty girl already now are we?' Dark teased, amused with the situation. Daisuke blushed at what the Phantom Thief was implying, but before she could retort someone spoke.
"Your hands are cold." Came a familiar voice, Daisuke looked down at her hand and realized it was still at his pulse. "S-sorry." She quickly said and took her hand away from him even faster. "Do you know where we are?" Satoshi asked as he sat up, some snow falling off his shoulders and hair.
"Yes. I think we're about 10 miles from the bus stop right now." She responded, as she stood up on to winced as she felt a sharp pain in her upper left arm. Looking at it, there was a large cut on the left side of her jacket and skin, if the amount of blood was anything to go by. She applied pressure to it with her good arm to stop it from bleeding, trying to hide it from Satoshi, but failed.
"Let me see it." She turned to Satoshi nervously but he didn't wait for her permission as he removed her jacket making her blush and shiver from the cold. She had a blue t-shirt underneath her jacket which was missing half a left sleeve, Satoshi took out a white handkerchief and gently took hold of Daisuke's arm.
"This could get infected; we should stay here, until help arrives." He told her as he carefully wrapped the white cloth around her injury. Daisuke was blushing but she didn't let Satoshi see it. He took out a cell phone looking at the bars for reception before he pressed a few buttons. Daisuke sipped back on her jacket and watched him.
"Hello, this is Special Police Commander, Satoshi Hiwatari. I'm in need of a search party for me and Miss Daisuke Niwa." Was all he said before he hung up on whoever was on the other line. She looked at him with wide eyes, not really knowing what he had to do with the police in the first place.
"You're a Special Police Commander?" she asked him, not being completely surprised as she had seen him command several officers and Takeshi's father, Inspector Saehara.
"Yes." he answered simply as he sat down with his back to a tree. "How did you do that? You're still in middle school." Daisuke asked, sitting next to him a little bit away. He glanced at her then back at the scenery in front of him.
"My father's the commissioner, and also I've all ready finished college." He said calmly, like it was normal for any one.
"WHAT!" Daisuke yelled, surprised by this new information and drawing Satoshi's gaze to her. "Sorry. Then how come you came back to school?" She asked, bushing as she glanced at Satoshi for a bit. "I wanted to try the normal life of a14 year old. Do you... find that strange?" he asked as he looked at her. She was turning red but some of her hair hid it as she bowed her head.
"No… that's natural. To try what you didn't experience before. Right?" she said looking at the ground. Satoshi was sitting right next to her. "Yes." he said and moved some of her hair from her face. She blushed, looking him in the eyes that were still their normal baby blue. She could feel his warm breath on her face.
However the moment was intruded by a sudden loud grumbling noise.
"Kyuu." Was coming out of Daisuke's jacket pocket. Satoshi's and Daisuke's gaze shifted to see the little white rabbit like creature pop it's head out of Daisuke's jacket pocket. "Kyuu." Wiz looked up at them in confusion looking like he just woke from a nap."Oh, Wiz are you hungry?" She asked her little pet, while getting a strange look from Satoshi.
'Thank you, Wiz, you're a life saver!' she shouted in her mind, grateful for her pet.
"It's about time to eat. Hiwatari, are you hungry too? I over packed my lunch a bit." She said, trying to stay calm and not transform into Dark. He hesitated but took a lunch she offered him.
'Wiz! You ruined a perfectly romantic mood!' Dark yelled at the fuzz ball from inside Daisuke's mind.
Fast Forward, At School
"We didn't do anything, nothing happened between us." Daisuke kept saying to her classmates or more accurately, Satoshi's fan girls, since they had been found buy the search party."Are you sure?" Asked one of Satoshi's Fan girls, not believing the red head who she knew had feelings for the same boy.
"You two were alone with each other for quite a while." asked another girl."Nothing happened." Daisuke said as she was walking through the school gates.
"Nothing? Like maybe, oh say... loving glances, holding hands or, god forbid… kissing!" Yelled another girl, getting a collective gasp form the other fan girls. Daisuke slowed down as she was starting to feel dizzy.
'My heads spinning.' She was thinking before tripped and fell forward. "Daisuke!" the Harada twins yelled together worried for their friend but were to late as she was caught and now in the arms of Satoshi, he didn't know why but he just did. Checking her left arm he could see the bandages that had been put on had turned pink form the blood.
"Ahh! She's bleeding!" Risa yelled, going in it a panic, getting the teachers attention.
"Hiwatari, can you carry her to the nurse's office." The teacher said, the fan girls and boys glared at Daisuke and Satoshi, the girls thinking Daisuke was faking and the boys thinking Satoshi was trying to be cool by rejecting Daisuke.
Rumors had spread about Satoshi ripping up Daisuke's love letter, if the boys didn't interact with Satoshi before they really didn't now.
Nurse's Office
The nurse wasn't in the office so Satoshi got out a fist aid kit and slowly removed her jacket to see the handkerchief that was soaked in blood. He untied it and cleaned off the dried blood with a damp rag. He could hear Riku and Risa just outside the room talking to someone about Daisuke.
Satoshi quickly bandaged her arm, and then stepped back once he was done securing them in place. His eye's scanned her peaceful face, and it made his heart skipped a beat.
"What!?" he asked breathlessly, as he clutched a hand over his heart in pain. Then he sat down on the bed that he laid her down on. He couldn't control his body before his eyes turned gold. He moved a few strands of her hair out of her face and rested his hand on her cheek.
"So beautiful." He breathed out softly before the door slammed open and in came a boy with shoulder length light brown hair, followed by another boy with short black hair.
"Princesses Daisuke!" he yelled, as he came over to the unconscious girl, shoving the bluenet out of the way. Satoshi fell to the floor and his eyes returned to their original blue color as he received a glare from the light brown haired boy. "Keiji, don't yell." Scolded the other one and the Harada twins came in.
"Thanks for...taking care of... "Risa was thanking Satoshi but he said nothing as he left quickly.
'What was he doing?' was the thought of Daisuke's best friend, Funabashi, having noticed the way he was looming over Daisuke.
