A/N- I am so sorry, I know I have not updated.. the death of my grandmother left me severely depressed and I did not want to write. This is been a work in progress for a long time and I appreciate everybody that has continued to follow me. Even if it's one person I'm so appreciative that anybody reads what I write, I have another chapter following closely so please bare with me as I am transitioning into writing again as it is something that I love and I hope that you all enjoy it thank you again for your continued support.
"Oh by the Fae Gods! Dr. Lewis you need to come see this, the levels definitely do not match up with the⦠Lauren?'' Jeremy opens and closes the doors to the lab looking for Lauren. He finally comes upon her in an office leaning back in a leather chair, mouth open snoring lightly. Jeremy chuckles before he places his hand on her shoulder.
"How long have I been out?" She says through one open eye.
"No clue, I started my shift at 4:30 am." He smiles.
"Why in the world?" She looks at him and as she sees the eagerness and absolute thirst for knowledge she understood. Jeremy was there just as many hours as she, even more, and knew that his vested interest was both on a personal and professional level. For that she was very grateful, he was privy to her life's finest work, including her baby. She gets up and walks over to him and says, "How is it?" She pulls back his lab coat and lifts his sleeve as she studied the Light Fae brand marked on his arm.
"I don't even understand why you got this brand in the first place," She tsk's as she examines his healing burned skin.
"You know why I got this," He says lowly. "It was necessary for me to help you with this work, and also for me to be able to protect you and be protected by the Light Fae."
"For that I will be eternally grateful." She says as she changes his dressings. "Are you nervous about the meeting today?"
"Yes, kind of.. . I mean simply for the fact that my attendance is mandatory and not optional is kind of intimidating."
"Say as least as possible, Bo and I will be the ones who get asked the most questions, you will be there purely for verification of this pregnancy and validating the scientific unexplained facts that need validation. Are you ok with that?"
"Lauren, what is happening here is the best thing in my medical and professional career, I am ready," he smiles.
"Ugh! Kenzi, come help me figure out what to wear." Bo hears nothing but silence, "Kenzzzzzzzz!"
"I will not!" Kenzi screams back. "You have been an unbearable Oscar the Grouch and not the green fuzzy lovable kind. You're bossy, cranky, have cravings like only a succubus would, I mean that's with walls for God's sake!"
"Kenz please, Lauren and I have this really big meeting with the Fae elders and I need you to pick the perfect Mom outfit." Silence. "Did you know the baby is moving around now?" She sees Kenzi peek her head through the door, "Yeah, Lauren said its advanced but with this pregnancy its not surprising. I kind of asked her to not over geek it so everything is a surprise, even the gender, its driving Lauren crazy."
Kenzi slowly comes over and sits on her bed. "The little succu-baby is moving around huh? Well I guess that's kinda cool, I mean she's going to be kicking ass out of the womb and its totally hilarious that you're putting Doc on notice." She chuckles looking at the floor as Bo approaches her.
"Hey," Bo places her hands on Kenzi's shoulders. "I am so sorry I have been a grouch but I have no idea what I'm doing and between you and I, I am scared out of my mind about this pregnancy and my decision to put the breaks on Lauren and testing," she hugs her belly.
"Bo-Bo, you're scared?" Kenzi envelops Bo in a gentle hug regretting calling her a grouch. "I was only half joking, you're not full on Oscar," she laughs as she hugs her close. "Whoa, what in the Fae was that!" Kenzi exclaimed as she pushed Bo at arms length to look in between them.
Bo grabbed Kenzi's hands and placed them on her stomach as she stared at her, "She kicked for Auntie Kenzi? Yessssss! Wait till Lo hears about this!" By looking at Bo she knew the baby had already kicked for Lauren but just carried on. "Well, lets get her momma looking good for the Fae elders shall we?"
"So what was so important that you woke me?" Lauren says curiously.
"Well," Jeremy hesitates and rubs the back of his neck."
"Oh God, what. What is it? Is she healthy?" Lauren gasps as she looks to Jeremy for answers.
"Lauren, no the baby is fine it's just- the genetic properties of the fetus cannot be identified, we also cannot determine the gender."
"What? " She quietly takes in the information she has been given and carefully considers her next question as she knows she cannot grill him for information as she wants to per Bo's request. She inhales deeply, "Jeremy, please tell me that my baby, our baby is good. That is all I care about."
Jeremy smiles confidently, "Lauren, I care about you and Bo and I would never let anything happen to this baby, yes she is healthy and moving along normal, well as normal as a Fae baby should."
"Thank you Jeremy, I promised Bo that I cannot ask you anything even though I am absolutely dying."
"I know Lauren, trust me it is killing me not to be able to discuss these profound discoveries with you, some of the findings defy-" Jeremy looks at Lauren, "They defy any type of scientific explanation."
"Kenz, are you sure this is appropriate?" I'm sure soccer mom trousers don't make me look more Mom like, plus my bump is totally showing, hello half shirt."
"Trust me Bo-Bo these Fae elders are like at least 200 years old so what do they even know?" Kenzi chuckles as Lauren burst through the door.
"What are you wearing babe?" Lauren looks at Bo with her head slightly cocked.
"Ha!" Bo chides at Kenzi as she is being pulled through the bedroom by Lauren.
"Whatevaaaaa! The only consolation is this kid is going to get her fashion sense from Auntie Kenz."
"Get out of those clothes," Lauren states as she closes the door behind them. "Honey a half shirt?"
"She meant well Lauren, and I don't even think it looks that bad."
Bo bites her lip as she sees Lauren's reaction, "Put this on please." Lauren hands her a navy blue wrap dress, and some conservative beige flats. She slips on a necklace around her neck and Bo catches her hands as she looks at it.
"This was the necklace I found when you left," she stares off. "The one that symbolizes you teaching me how to love." She grabs her hands and kisses them. I know they will see it," she hesitates.
"I want them to," She grabs Bo's hands and encourages her to keep getting dressed. "Hurry Hun we don't want to be late."
Bo and Lauren approach the neutral meeting place, they are greeted by Dyson who is guarding the doors. "Ladies, they have been waiting. Bo you look absolutely glowing," he says with a genuine bright smile. "Lauren, you look good too." The women nod in his direction thanking him for the compliments he briefs them on what is inside. "When you enter Trick is seated in the middle, Hale to his right, and Evony to his left. There are three seats arranged facing them, Jeremy is already seated. Bo you sit in between Jeremy and Lauren. I will be standing behind you so I can see everything."
"Dyson, this isn't an interrogation, damn, they just want to ask questions about the little one here and we will be on our way."
"He's right Bo," Lauren cautioned. "He is just being prepared, I mean this is the Fae we are talking about. Thank you Dyson."
"Good luck." He leads them in and nods his head toward Trick.
"Isabeau and Lauren have a seat, we have been waiting for you." Trick motions to the dark figure sitting in the meeting.
"And you are?" Bo questions bluntly.
She looks him over as he stares at her belly, then over to Lauren. His copper hair seemed to intensify against his dark blue eyes. When he stroked his red beard Lauren caught sight of his ring and gasped. The turquoise ring that she would never forget. "Dabrion, I come from..."
"The Arzenian clan." Lauren said lowly as she fell back in her chair.
"Very good!" He points over to Lauren. "Your reputation precedes you about how very clever you are, no wonder my daughter took a liking to you." He smiles.
"Alexandria is your daughter?" Lauren barely whispers not wanting to look at him.
"Was, my dear. Was." He raises his voice glaring at her, "And this must be the unaligned succubus that I've yet to meet. I must say I was really excited when I received my invitation."
"Yeah, anyone want to tell me why that is?" Bo snaps towards Trick.
"Dabrion please, this is a meeting about the child and the claim that it is Lauren's. After that determination we will proceed from there." Trick says.
"Proceed? There will be no proceeding." Bo asserts
"Honey please, she whispers in Bo's ear as she put her arm around her. Let's just get through this so we can go okay?" Bo nods yes and smiles in Lauren's direction.
"Gentlemen, my esteemed colleague Dr. Jeremy Nagel is more than qualified to answer any questions you may have, Jeremy?"
Jeremy nervously walks over to a display with the enlarged ultrasound. He hands each person in the room a small stack of papers containing a series of code and medical jargon. "Okay Jeremy seeing as how none of us are doctors, please cut to the chase. Did the scissoring pay off or what?" Evony barks impatiently.
Jeremy blushes at Evony's choice of words. "Well in short, yes. What you have in front of you is the breakdown of genetic properties paired with DNA along with Fae from each Bo and Lauren. If you take a look at Bo you can see that it is very different from Lauren's chart. Do you see how the spikes are consistent along the top? This means she is 100% Fae, the lines that are directly overlaying indicate Succubus as her species."
Lauren looks up and nods approval to Jeremy urging him to continue.
"Now lets looks at Dr. Lewis, her chart is a bit more confusing but let me explain what we are looking at here."
"Whoa, whoa. Jeremy, I think we can all agree that you are the expert at what you are trying to explain to us, can we just cut to the chase so we can talk about the child?" Hale pleads as he loosens his tie.
Jeremy looks at Trick, and addresses everyone. "Ok, basically Lauren's chart shows she is equal parts of three species. Her DNA was permanently changed to Arzenian, Succubus, and Human."
"Impossible," Dabrion belts out in a semi laughter.
Jeremy ignores him and continues "Do you see her chart where the lines run perfectly separate from each other? That is an indication She is roughly 33% of each."
"Wait wait, that means the Doctor is 66% Fae?" Evony ponders and puts her finger to her lips, "Fabulous!" She exclaims. "I knew you looked ultra sexy today."
"Enough," Trick raises his hand. "Son, I mean Dr. Nagel please explain to us how this happened."
"Well, Um ahem," Jeremy clears his throat. "This was all experimental, Dr. Lewis can explain what she was trying to do with her own experiment but unfortunately the scientist's work has been destroyed, and without her here to tell us how she..."
"Alexandria, her name is Alexandria not the scientist." Dabrion stands up to address the audience. "My daughter was a genius scientist in her own right, but let's just skip these codes and paperwork shall we?" He looks at Lauren and challenges with a devious grin. "Prove it."
Dyson emits a low steady growl from the back of the room, Lauren waves him off to say its okay. "What would you like me to do?" Lauren stands now facing Dabrion.
"I don't see how this is relevant to the discussion about the baby." Jeremy squeaks nervously.
"I'll allow this," Trick shows a little bit of his own skepticism. He looks at Bo who is staring at Dabrion.
"What would you like?" Lauren says confidently with a smirk.
Dabrion smiles back, "Burn me."
"Whoa whoa wait Trick, don't you think this is a little out of hand?" Hale stands
"Puhhhhleazzze there is a little too much testosterone in here, I just wish I had popcorn," Evony chides.
"Go ahead Lauren," Trick urges.
"With pleasure," Lauren responds. But before her eyes even turned red Dabrion was already grabbing his head in pain. He fell to the floor with a thud and was then lifted a few inches off the floor and back down again. "I didn't do anything," She puts her hands up to Trick.
"No you didn't, she did," Bo says with labored breathing and hugging her stomach. Bo stands slowly, turns and collapses into Lauren's arms.
"Bo!" Jeremy exclaims as he quickly checks her vitals. "She's fine everyone, the baby depleted her energy she just needs Dr. Lewis, err she needs um some chi, both baby and Mom."
"Brava!" Evony starts clapping and motions to Dabrion as he stands and wipes his forehead of the sweat, "Need the baby to show you another demonstration?"
"Oh shut up Evony." Dabrion dusts off his suit.
Trick stands up, "Because my granddaughter needs attending to now, is everyone now satisfied of the findings that Dr. Jeremy Nagel has provided us today? I need blood oaths."
No one replied just nodded, "Good, all unanimous. We will reconvene in two weeks to discuss the baby and her genetics, DNA, and Fae properties."
"Uh Dr. Lewis requested the gender of the baby not be revealed." Jeremy replies
"Son, do whatever you have to identify the species and clan the child is. From the look of things just by the way Dabrion is holding his head I already know she is a girl. Meeting adjourned you will get your summons to follow. Dabrion."
"Trick."
"Let me show you out." Trick leads stopping to hug Lauren and stroking Bo's face, "I never doubted you Lauren now go take care of my great grandchild." He smiles
"Let me take you home please." Dyson offers
"This time I will take you up, a police escort will get us home quicker so I can take care of them both." Lauren smiles as she looks down at Bo, "I love you," she whispers. "After I give you your medicine you are going to explain what happened." Bo smiles weakly and nods as she stokes her stomach looking down proudly. Lauren kisses her softly and gives her a little chi, "I love you too." Bo whispers.
