Disclaimer: Still don't own anything associated with Inuyasha or the brand.

I have been revamping this story, major things don't change nor does the plot line. If it does, I'll let you all know. I wasn't happy with how some chapters and scenes played out. So I changed it.

She watched as drops of water dripped from the sink. The cool tile was pressed against her legs, bottom, and back. Drip. Drip. Drip. It was the only sound for about two hours now, at least the only sound she heard. After the incident at the office building, Kagome had holed herself up in her bathroom. Away from everyone. For the first hour she continued to snap her hair tie against her skin, then slowly she stopped. Nothing but the sound of water dripping soothed her frazzled nerves. Rubbing her face, Kagome sighed. The angry red scratch stood out along her own self-inflicted wounds. Besides those angry red marks, small scars were almost invisible. Kagome ran her fingers along the small scars and felt the skin that was raised. Those were the nice scars, she had others on her stomach and back that were still a light pink color. Even years later. Art work, Inuyasha called them. A knock sounded on her bathroom door. Kagome didn't answer, she wasn't in the sociable mood.

"Sweetie?" her mother's voice sounded from the other side of the door. Once upon a time that soft soothing voice would comfort her, now things had changed.

Kay waited for a response but heard nothing, she turned the door knob to find it was open. The elder woman entered the room and shut the door. She sat next to her daughter on the floor, Kagome didn't say anything to her.

"Sweetie are you okay? You missed dinner." Kay asked, Kagome just nodded her head. Lies, somehow her eldest child had become skilled in lying to her. She lied about Inuyasha, about the marks, the scars, everything.

"Kagome…." Kay trailed off, completely unsure what to say. Souta had explained why Kagome had come home, he had confessed he was the one who called her and begged her to come.

"Talk to me." Kay said as Kagome snapped her hair tie again. Kay slipped her hand on top of the hair tie, causing Kagome to look at her.

"I didn't want to do this." Kagome said. Kay watched her daughters face looking for answers to her unvoiced questions.

"I don't want to see you hurt again." Kay said carefully, the last thing she wanted was to set her daughter off into another anger induced rage.

"Why was he even in the building?" Kagome asked, her fingers itching to snap her hair tie.

"Lord Touga has been helping-" Kagome cut her mother off.

"That doesn't explain Inuyasha." Kagome said stiffly.

"I don't know. I have told security they are to follow the restraining order's rules. I have also instructed them to place more cameras and more guards.

"I need to know if you still love him." Kay said before biting the inside of her cheek. Kagome glared at her and ripped her body away from her mother.

"You're acting as if I am going to go back to him!" Kagome exclaimed angrily.

" I didn't mean to imply that, I just-" Kagome cut her off again.

"No. I do not love him. No, I am not going back to him. You don't see the scars every day. You didn't live in fear for years! So do not ever ask me that again" Kagome jeered out.

Kay didn't say anything as she left the room. It pained the elder woman to see her baby girl so angry and in so much pain. Kay closed her daughter's bedroom door and pressed her forehead to the cool wood.

"Kay?" Iko called softly as he rounded the corner.

"Mmm?" Kay asked not moving her head or opening her eyes.

"Touga is on the phone. Do you want me to ask him to call back later?" Iko asked softly.

"No, I'll take it in Nobu's office" Kay said, before moving past Iko. The large black doors hid her husband's office, Kay sighed and opened them. Kay sat in her husband's chair and picked up the line.

"Touga." Kay said greeting the male.

"Is she okay?" the male asked on the line, Kay's nails dug into the wooden desk.

"No. She isn't. She has a mark. She's angry and she's afraid" Kay spat.

"Kay please-" Kay cut him off.

"No. Touga, I care for you. I do. You and Sesshomaru has been most helpful with this other company, but that boy…. That monster touched my baby again. She just screamed at me, like she had before she left. I just got her back. I don't want to lose her again." Kay sobbed out. Tears fell from her eyes, and her teeth gnashed in anger.

In his own office, Touga fought back a growl. Kun-Loon had been his rock when his first mate had passed away. She was one of a handful of people who could stand up to him without fearing for her life. Kay had actually been the one to tell Touga, Inuyasha's mother, had been cheating on him. The memory of the small woman, standing in his office with a bored look on her face as he threw a temper tantrum, made Touga want to laugh.

"You have my honor, or I will sign my lands over to you, that he will not touch her again. I cannot apologize enough, you know I never raised him to do this. I'm at a loss." Touga said dejectedly.

"That's a verbal contract old man." Kay said wiping the tears from her face as Souta entered the office. Kay waved him over before Touga laughed at her jab. Souta sat on his father's desk and listened in on the conversation.

"I can have my lawyer draw up an actual contract. Only thing I ask is Sesshomaru be allowed to rule." Touga said as his own son entered the office. Touga waved his hand, signaling Sesshomaru should sit down.

"Smartass. I'm holding you to that Touga. No human can protect Kagome." Kay said, but Souta scoffed.

"Tell Souta I said hello. I will see you soon" Touga said before ending the call.

Touga watched his son for a moment before folding his hands and leaning his chin on them.

"Why did you get involved?" Touga asked his eldest son. Sesshomaru and his sire stared at each other for a long paused moment. In the distance they could hear Inuyasha in his room, rutting with his chosen female of the week. This one bothered Sesshomaru more than the others, she looked exactly like the Higurashi girl. Years ago, Sesshomaru remembered those blue eyes sparkling with life. He had more than once caught her reading a book, his father had loaned her. He had also caught Inuyasha beating her.

"She is the heir of a business partner. It would not be in our best interest if he killed her or worse" Sesshomaru replied coolly. Touga watched his son for another moment before getting up and standing in front of a large window.

"Nobu had no chance to create his empire without me. I was the nameless investor that gave him his start up. Years ago after your mother had died, Nobu found me severely intoxicated. I was passed out in an alleyway when a gang of Neko surrounded me. Nobu saved my life that night. He brought me to his humble home and his humble wife took care of me. They had just gotten married a few years beforehand. From what Kay told me Nobu had gone to school for business and she was working two jobs to keep them afloat. Nobu was kind enough to show me his business ideas. He impressed me, so I gave him his start up. After he established himself, I met with him to propose a partnership. Inuyasha had been born three years prior and I found out he had a little girl. When I first met Kagome, she demanded I show her my true form. She was quite the child, I thought she'd be a good match for Inuyasha. When Nobu was murdered, I refused to let their business and family go under." Touga explained watching the rain pour onto the earth.

Sesshomaru watched his father and ingested the information. Then it had occurred to Sesshomaru why his father was so invested in the girl.

"You feel guilty for what Inuyasha has done." Sesshomaru stated, Touga nodded slowly before facing his son.

"I never raised either of you boys to raise a hand at a woman. Let alone a defenseless one. You have noticed the girl Inuyasha is courting looks like Kagome. Yet, never once has he raised his hand to her. I pushed Kagome and Inuyasha towards each other, I thought they would make a good couple. I was wrong. She died in the hospital, it took them three minutes to get her heart to restart. I made a promise to Nobu I would protect his family and I helped evil enter their home. Inuyasha's actions are disgusting and he is a disgrace to our family name. The only thing saving him is the fact he is my son." Touga spat out. They heard the female climax in Inuyasha's room and Touga's fangs bared at the noise.

"What do you want this Sesshomaru to do?" Sesshomaru asked, now mildly curious.

"You have made it known you do not like humans and yet you saved her today. I am asking you to protect her when I cannot." Touga said softly.

Sesshomaru could smell his sire's uneasiness, then again it is not every day the Great dog general of the West asks for help. Sesshomaru tapped his claw as he thought about the situation.

"The boy will stay away from her. Or I will kill him." Sesshomaru explained to his father. Touga nodded his head slowly, the elder man realizing in that moment his son was no longer a pup.

"Thank you Sesshomaru. If you need anything just ask." Touga said dismissing his heir. Touga sat back in his chair and looked at the group picture on his desk. His now ex-wife, Kay, and Nobu smiled up at the camera. Touga had taken the picture when the two couples went on a vacation after their companies had partnered together.

"Well my old friend. It seems I cannot keep my promise. But Sesshomaru can. He has grown since the last time you saw him. Others tell me he's ruthless in the business world. He will clean up the mess I made. I am sorry, my old friend" Touga whispered to himself.
