Jade's POV,
…
…
…
It was two weeks later and Beck was coming home today. I walked out of my bedroom; I was done getting ready so I went to Levi's room. "Baby, Lyla is going to watch you and James while I go get Daddy and bring him home, okay?"
"But Mommy I wanna come!" He pouted.
"No Levi. Mommy's going alone." I shut his door. He has changed since we started seeing Beck more and more since he was awake. It's like I'm not important all he wants is Beck. He's so nasty anymore and it hurts me so much. I grabbed my keys and walked out the house getting in my car.
I reached the hospital about twenty minutes later. I walked in and went to Beck's room. "Hey babe." He smiled getting his stuff together.
"Hey…" I replied just looking down.
"What's wrong?" He sat down next to me.
"It's nothing important." I lied.
"It's important if it's hurting you." He lifted my head up.
"It's just Levi… He's being so nasty…" Tears came to my eyes.
"It's probably just a phase Jade. I'm sure he'll be fine." He kissed me and stood up. "Are you ready? I wanna get outta here."
"Yea… Come on." We walked out his room and told the receptionist we were leaving and she nodded. Beck wrapped his arm around me as we continued to walk. When we got in the car and I started to pull away Beck looked at me.
"Hey Jade… Before we get home and we're alone, can we talk?" Beck asked.
"I guess so." I said keeping my eyes on the road.
"Well… I don't want things to change just because we have a kid now… I mean I know I haven't been there for the first three years, but I'll make it up."
"We won't." I paused. I kissed him and then looked up at him. "Tell me that you love me." Beck hugged me closer. He whispered nothings in my ear and then smiled.
"I love you." Beck smirked. "I miss that."
"Me too." I said quietly. I smiled. I was worried about how Levi would act around Beck and me. I hoped it would wear off after a while. We walked in the door and Levi jumped on him. "Be careful, Levi! Don't jump on daddy like that." I frowned. Levi scowled too. Beck burst out laughing, and so Levi did too. And James. And Lyla. I frowned more. So did Levi. Repeat. "What is so funny?" I asked, brushing myself off and putting my keys in the bowl. Beck was almost doubled over.
"You look so much like your mommy, Levi!" I felt my heart soften. I looked at my baby. He did look like me, a bit. "I love you both so much. I love you all so much. Lyla. James. Jade. Levi." I smiled. He picked up the snow globe on the side and shook it.
"Don't wanna look like mommy." Levi giggled. "I look like daddy!"
"Nope, little man, you are definitely more like Lyla and I." I winked.
"How have my family been?" He asks, suddenly serious. I don't know whether he means us or the others. It dawns on me that he doesn't know his parents are dead.
"We'll talk about that later," I say. "Not in front of you know. But sad." I said bluntly. "Fussing over L-E-V-I." Levi can spell, but spelling it out goes over his head.
"I see."
"And J-A-M-E-S." Beck nodded. I smiled. "We better get them into bed. It's late. They'll be tired. It's okay. We'll to something tomorrow." I was looking forward to seeing how bedtime would go down.
"Come on, get ready Levi!" I told him.
"Never!" He screamed running in circles.
"Please Levi? Come on." I begged. "I'll let you have ice cream if you get ready for bed." I bribed him.
"Okay!" He put on his pajamas and come over to me, "All done!" He smiled. I picked him up taking him to the table.
"Lyla and James! If you guys are ready come down for ice cream!" I hollered for them, and they came running.
"ICE CREAM!" James started screaming. I laughed.
"Okay What kind do you guys want? Strawberry, chocolate, vanilla, or Mackinaw Island Fudge?" I named off what they had.
"Mackinaw Island Fudge!" They all screamed, even Beck. I giggled at them. I'm so happy we are a family again.
I put the ice cream out in four bowls and then sat down with a strawberry scoop for myself. I ate slowly, waiting for the sound of footsteps on the stairs. Beck and the kids were suddenly in front of me, shoveling ice cream down them. Levi got some on his pajamas and James got a fair amount in his hair, but I decided that didn't matter. He'd shower in the morning anyways and they were almost falling asleep standing up.
"Come on, you two, bed time."
"Can't we stay up a little longer, mommy?" Levi pleaded, giving me a puppy dog face.
"Absolutely not," a voice - Beck - interjected. "If you're tired tomorrow, we won't be able to spend time together again, because you'll be snoring at breakfast. Now come on, little man, go to bed for me and Mommy. James, you're the big tough boy, right? Are you going to be a big boy and help Mom too?" I was in shocked silence when he'd finished so I just stood there, mouth ajar like a fish. Just a whisper, James agreed.
"I'll help, Mommy."
"Good boy," I say, picking Levi up. I took James's hand and led them to their room. "You're being good boys." I nod. "You know that Daddy is going to be here for a very long time, don't you? You don't have to worry, I promise. And if anything ever did happen, there are so many people who love you, or would."
"We know, Mom." James said bravely, putting his arm round Levi. "Don't we?" Levi looked up innocently, and nodded, thinking it was best.
"Yep!" I kissed their foreheads and left, switching the light off.
"I love you."
"I love you."
I then went downstairs to talk with Beck and Lyla. I touched their arms as I passed.
"It's almost ten o'clock." Lyla said.
"Then we should get to bed." I said.
"Yeah."
