A few hours later …..

SPOV

"And congratulations, Sookie. Vampire. You now have a beautiful baby boy" Doctor Ludwig announced, holding up the son – and heir to the crown of Louisiana - that I had just given birth to, and even though I was extremely tired and exhausted after the long labour, I couldn't help but feel so completely ecstatic and overjoyed at the birth of our baby.

"Hold your arms out, Sookie. You can hold him" Ludwig said, coming to stand beside me, with the baby in her arms, and I immediately did as I was asked to do, eager to hold my baby for the first time.

Ludwig then gently shifted him over from her arms into mine, and I carefully adjusted him so that he was lying comfortably in mine, something which caused him to fuss loudly for a few moments before he began to settle down, his nose touching against my nipple, and he moved his little hand to my breast, laying it softly on it.

"I think he is trying to send you a message, Sookie" Doctor Ludwig said, just as Eric took a seat on the side of the bed, and I cuddled softly into the crook of his right arm, which he wrapped tightly around me.

"I think so too" Eric laughed, and I could feel the pure feelings of elation coming off of him through our bond, as well as a few hunger pangs coming from the little man.

"How can I feed him?" I asked, and even though I knew that the question really sounded stupid, I needed Ludwig's help with this one – and I didn't want to end up accidently choking the baby either.

"Okay. Put your finger into his mouth first, Sookie – until we can get him to suck a little" Ludwig said, and I did as I was told to, feeling more delighted than ever whenever he began to suck almost immediately on my finger.

"What next?" I asked, beginning to unbutton my top and my bra.

"Now, Sookie. I need you to take a hold of your breast, and gently rub the nipple across his lips a few times to get him to open up his mouth" Ludwig said softly, and I did as I was directed to, before sliding it into his mouth just a little bit, enough for him to suck on, and it felt good when the milk began to let itself down, feeding him. However, much to my surprise a few seconds later, I felt a sharp pang of something slide into my breast, and I looked down to see that the baby had slid his very own pair of fangs into me.

"I guess he is getting more and more like his father" I said, pointing out the fangs to Eric.

"Well, lover. He is half vampire" Eric smirked.

"Easy for you to say, Eric. You aren't the one being bitten" I said, narrowing my eyes playfully at him.

"And to think you usually love it when a vampire bites you …" Eric trailed off.

"He really is a miracle, Eric" I said ignoring the jibe, while Ludwig began to pack up her belongings.

"He is just like his mummy then" Eric replied, bringing his free hand up to caress the little man's feet, which caused him to make a loud noise.

"Have we got a name for him?" Ludwig asked, a few moments later interrupting the golden silence that had fallen over the four of us in the room.

"Yes. Yes, I think that we do. Lover, do you want to do the honours?" Eric said, with a smile on his face.

"Eric Alexander James David Northman" I said.

"Eric?" my husband questioned. We hadn't agreed on naming our son after his father.

"Yes. Eric. I want to name him after the greatest man on this earth. His daddy" I said.

"Eric Alexander James David Northman it is then" Eric smiled, just as Ludwig pulled a pen and some official looking paperwork out of her bag, and she began to fill it in.

"What name will he be known as? Eric?" Ludwig asked, just as the little Prince began to push my breast away from his mouth, his tiny little fangs sliding back up into his gums where they belonged.

"Can you pass me something to clean myself up honey?" I asked Eric, and he pulled a hankie out of its box on the nearby bed stand, holding it out to me. I took it and quickly cleaned myself up – both from excess milk that had leaked out and of the streaks of blood that had also escaped.

"What name will he be known as? Eric?" Ludwig repeated, sounding more than a little agitated at having to repeat herself.

"No. He will be known as Alex" Eric said, and I nodded. "More than one Eric in the house would just be confusing for everyone, and Alexander will be too long of a name for him to pronounce when he starts to speak" he explained.

"Okay. That is everything I need to know. I can fill out the rest of the paperwork myself. All I need now from the both of you are your signatures and then I can be on my way" Ludwig said, and both Eric and I complied with her request.

"Now, contact me if something is wrong – even the smallest or the slightest little thing, and I will help you. This little boy is destined for great things. Far, far greater than any of us could have possibly imagined. It is important that we look after him and cherish him like the little Prince that he is" Ludwig stated and then she was gone before anyone could reply.
