"Here we are, ancient runes" bellatrix let out a little nervous giggle and then wanted to hit herself she was being such an idiot and there was no way he was going to like her now. Not that she thought she had much of a chance beforehand but hey a girl could dream.

harry glanced around the room, looking at bellatrix when she sighed slightly he noted her slightly stooped shoulders and though her expression was perfectly composed he got the impression she had wanted the walk here to last longer, fighting a smile he said "can I sit with you?"

that single question seemed to brighten her whole demeaner and she immediately led him to a table at the front of the room.

the lesson was boring as hermione had pretty much tutored him in the subject almost up to NEWT level however sitting next to bellatrix was oddly informative as Harry could see little if anything of the crazed maniac from his time in fact she seemed shy and almost sweet, for a slytherin.

"hey what do you have next?"

bellatrix blushed slightly and said "charms"

checking his own schedule Harry grinned "me too, would you like to walk with me?"

bellatrix grinned and said "yeah I would like that"

the rest of the day past in much a similar manner as Harry and bellatrix seemed to have the same schedule. It was on the way to their dorm after dinner that it happened.

harry could just make out a faint sort of blurring of the air up ahead which immediately set of warning bells, frowning slightly he pretended he hadn't seen and leaned down to whisper in bellatrix's ear "up ahead there someone there under either a invisibility cloak or a dissoluionment spell"

bellatrix blinked and whispered back "how can you tell? I don't see anything"

"I caught a glimpse of a blurring around the area up ahead, hear watch" flicking his gaze around he saw the cloak again moving his gaze slightly to the right he focuses and felt a strong breeze against his back this flapped he cloak enough that bellatrix caught sight of four pairs of feet before they vanished again.

"I saw, what do we do?"

"nothing unless they try something. Hear lets freek them out a little" winking he said in his normal volume of speech "oh I don't know what we should do maybe something to their food?"

playing along bellatrix said "hmmm not sure maybe their drinks?"

"oh but when should we do it I mean it has to be at a meal time I mean it just wouldn't be fun if the whole school couldn't see the results"

laughing bellatrix said "yeah this is gonna be so good I can't wait to see their faces" she giggled again and Harry paused to marvel at the sound, it truly was a beautiful laugh not at all like the mad cackle from his time. Tensing slightly he felt the air tingle and warm slightly, shifting his grip on bellatrix's arm she barely had a chance to look at him in confusion before there was a whispered spell and a full body bind was shot at them. Without missing a beat Harry shifted bellatrix behind him and batted away the hex like it was nothing.

snorting Harry said "ah come now that is hardly fair shooting spells at people who can't see you" and without giving away what he was doing he cast a quick spell at the ceiling which caused it to rain shimmering silver rain, this immediately caused the spot were the invisiblity cloak was to stick out as the rain slid of the silky material. Shooting in rapid succession he shot of several different spells and frowned when a sparkling gold protego protected the boys although there was a surprised grunt that suggested that whoever had cast it jaded been expecting his spells to be so strong that they had actually cracked the shield. There was a brief pause and then dozens of spells shot at them in rapid fire succession, flicking his wand Harry managed to deflect most of the spells however a few slipped past and he saw at the last second bellatrix had moved from behind him to see what was going on and as he was already in the middle of casting a counter spell he lunged to the side to unreceptive the spell shot at her.

pain sliced across his chest but he ignored it, a slight lull in the spell fire had Harry turning to face bellatrix and saying "don't be afraid" and with that he turned and let all his anger flood him, surprisingly most his anger seemed to stem from them shooting at bellatrix, calling his magic he felt it swell around him causing an unnatural wind to pick up flapping the bottom of the cloak again when he spoke his voice seemed to echo and pulse with power "how dare you shoot a spell at a girl particularly one who was not involved in the fight, you will regret your actions and you will apologise," when not response came he said "James potter, Sirius black, Peter petigrue, and Remus lupin I do not like to be ignored" five gasps ensued as everyone present tried to work out just how he knew their names.

four muttered apologies followed and bellatrix's surprised expression became a slight grin. Continuing on down the corridor as he past the group he reached out poked one of the boys in the arms and said "by the way some people can see through invisiblity cloak so I would be more careful about how flagrantly you abuse deaths cloak James potter" there was a stunned silence as he and bellatrix walked down the corridor they were just feet from the conner when he felt the incoming spell flicking his wand almost lazily he blocked the spell and continued around the bend.

"I wish I could have seen their faces I bet they would have been priceless, and how did you know who they were and where they were and how did you see through the cloak?"

smirking slughtly he said "what can I say I'm different, and I've just always sort of known things especially when it's in situations like that it just sort of pops into my head like someone whispered it to me" glancing at her face he winced slightly she was probably gonna think he was mental now but at least he had laid a groundwork for if he slipped up agin.

Blinking bellatrix said "well I imagine that is a useful skill and probably due in part to your linage"

letting out a strongly relived sigh he said "yeah probably" looking up he realised they had reached the common room portrait "wiles and cunning" the door swung open and he guided bellatrix in before following and shutting the portrait door behind himself.
