A/N: Okay, I'm gonna make this short. There's a poll on my profile on which AU I should do next. If you guys would vote on there, that would be great! Also, I dunno if I told you this, but I have updates about this story on my profile (when it's done, how many words it is, etc). It's just for future notice, so people won't ask about whether or not the chapter is done. Okay, on we go!

Chapter 4

Two Doors, Two Fates

Jack had his hands in his pockets. Dinner was over, but Jack didn't feel like going back to his dorm. Instead, he explored the school grounds. There was so many new things to be discovered- why wait for it? Jack sighed and mentally groaned when his search of the grounds became unsuccessful. Well, I'm alone, again. The kids back in my old school would always stay away from me because of my powers. He created a small snowflake in his hands and blew it away. So far, only Hiccup, Merida, Rapunzel and my family knows about it. Images of them flashed in his mind. He smiled to himself. Maybe I can tell Merida and Rapunzel how I really got them, too. His smile fell. No, they'll only leave me behind. That's what happened to me last time. They won't believe me. They'll think I'm a monster. I told Hiccup because I knew he wouldn't make fun of me, but even then, that took a lot... He kicked a pebble away. It bounced and skidded across the hallway.

"Ba-aa." Jack looked down and blinked in confusion. Was that...a goat? No, that couldn't be a goat...Could it? Were they using goats in Defense Against the Dark Arts? With Professor Dingwall, Jack thought you could expect almost anything from him. The goat bleated again and nipped at Jack's leg. He yelped and jumped back. The goat bleated again and hopped forward.

"Ow! Watch it!" Jack constructed a snowball and threw it at the goat. It stumbled back and shook off the snow. It made an angry noise from the back of its throat and bleated even louder then before. Was the goat calling someone? Jack'a question was soon answered.

"Hey! You! Were you hurting my goat? I'll-Aha!" An old man shouted. Jack turned around and almost gagged. The old man smelt like rotten cabbages. His gray hair looked as of it had never been washed. Under the man's large nose was a long, white mustache with a short beard. His eyebrows were as thick as a mule, and his short hair spewed out in several places. His eyes were dark and narrow-full of hate and loathe. He carried a walking stick-probably for whacking children, Jack guessed. The old man hunched foreword when he walked and stood, and his teeth were crooked and yellow. Jack thought it was a goblin at first (the smell certainly wasn't pleasant), but then realized a goblin would have been smaller. Even then, Jack would have gladly taken a goblin over this old geezer.

"Uh, who're you?" Jack asked.

"I'm Mildew, the school's care taker!"

"Isn't Mr Macintosh the school care taker?" Jack asked. If one wanted to cause pranks in the future, one had to know about the care takers, obviously.

Mildew growled.

"Well, he's one of them. Now, to the matter at hand." He pointed at the pebble at the end of the hall. "Did you drag that into here?" Mildew's face scrunched up. "I am tired of students constantly walking up and down the hallways like they own the place! No respect for us care takers! But oh, why should you students care? You don't have to clean everything up! Fishlegs thought he could bring a plant from Professor Witch's classroom, and the plant exploded! Exploded! Do you know how long I've..." Mildew continued to rant with great zeal. When his back was turned, Jack sped off in the other direction. Definitely avoiding him, Jack thought. Spending time with your lovely, kind, sympathetic school care taker was not at the top of Jack's list, nor would it ever be. He stopped when he realized where he was.

Jack was in the seventh corridor, the one where no one was allowed.

Oops. Oh well. Sue him. Jack shrugged and kept walking. He knew nothing was dangerous in the seventh corridor. Or, more precisely, he hoped nothing was. Jack passed the time by whistling. The eerie tune floated down the corridor and danced with the small breeze, before floating away into the sky. It was a tune Jack had always sung, even before he could remember.

The sleepy sun was falling under the horizon. The last bit of it continued to stretch over the land, but the rest had surrendered to the night and then, finally, the moon would come up. Jack grinned. He didn't know why, but the moon could always spark so many emotions within him. It offered comfort in dark times; frustration when Jack needed it the most. He used to sneak out as a little kid and sit on the roof top, just staring at the moon, as if it could provide all the answers to Jack's questions. Jack gave a start when he realized, a second too late, that he froze a large part of the wall while in his thought.

"Better get out of here." Jack turned and ran the other way. Hopefully, Mildew would think it was just a student using magic. Hopefully.

Merida couldn't wait to fall sleep. Don't get her wrong-she loved Hogwarts-but she was tired from a long day. Even a spirited girl like Merida needed to rest. She didn't know she would have so much homework, and it was only the first month of school! Work was always a real pain; Merida was just glad Kurt was there to help her. She yawned and collapsed on her bed. A good nights sleep is what was needed, and Merida intended to get a good nightd sleep. She hugged her pillow and closed her eyes, welcoming dreamland, but...

Her dreams strayed far from the usual-a lot father. In her dream, Merida woke up in an unfamiliar place. The sky was a swirl of dark, purple energy, and the land was the same. Everything seemed to go on and on forever. The thing that bothered Merida the most, though, was the darkness. It felt unnaturally cold. If Merida listened closely, she could have sworn she heard whispers, yet she didn't understand them. She would catch words like "pretty girl", or "found dead in...". So, when Merida felt warmth on her back she, of course, gasped and spun around. About five meters away stood a narrowly opened door. Only a sliver of light escaped through the crack. The strangest part was that there was no wall behind it; the door stood on its own. Merida, at first, started to walk towards the door, then broke out into a run. The sooner she escaped this place, the better Merida would feel. She whipped the door open, and stopped once at once. Her hand fell from the door handle and the door shut on its own, but she didn't notice. She was too busy wondering why she had ended up in her room.

"Why am I here?" Merida asked aloud. "And is this my crib?" She approached the crib that sat in the middle of the room. "There's me as a lassie!" She hesitantly touched the younger-Merida's cheek. The latch on the window in front of Merida broke apart suddenly, and a gust of freezing wind dashed into the room. It climbed over the curtains and shoved the furniture over. It leaped from painting to painting and tousled Merida's hair. Merida was surprised her mother didn't wake up, and it was then Merida instantly knew something was up. She knew Elinor would wake up to anything, even if a pin nail dropped on carpet. Something was up. Looking around, Merida noticed the quality of her dream was terrible. The walls faded in and out, as if they were in one of the first movies ever made. Even Merida would fade in and out. She never had a dream this bizarre before.

She gasped when a physical dark, freezing shadow climbed out of the window. It left a trail of frost behind it as it slithered towards Merida's crib. Merida was fazed, but only for a moment.

"Oh, no you won't!" She grabbed a lamp-could it do any damage in a dream?- and stabbed the shadow. Merida had taken sword lessons as kid, but she never thought they would pay off. But, seemed they did, thankfully.

But things didn't go as planned.

The lamp froze to the core, sending cold bullets of electricity through Merida. She fell to her knees and covered her mouth with one hand to prevent herself from crying out. When she removed her hand from her mouth, blood was stained on it. Another shadow grew until the tip of it touched the wall on the other side of the room. Merida slowly looked up and let out a gasp. No, it couldn't be him! Not the Nightmare King! Merida scrambled to the wall in sheer terror. The Nightmare King stepped into the room, and it instantly became colder. Black ice grew on the walls and onto the ceiling. The walls stopped fading, and it was if time had stopped. A black icile, which turned blood red at the end, grew out of the Nightmare King's hands as he approached Merida's crib. The large, sharp icicle was so cold, it looked like it was glowing, even though it wasn't. The Nightmare King stopped in front of the crib and raised the icicle. For a moment, he turned around. The Nightmare King's terrifying, piercing yellow eyes looked straight into Merida's frightened blue eyes. Merida's knees gave way and she buckled to the floor. The King returned his attention to the younger Merida, and swung the icicle down...

"Nooooo!" Merida woke up with a jolt. Her forehead was bursting with cold sweats. Her sheets were tangled, part of them draping across the bed and onto the floor. Merida's body told her it was early in the morning, but not too early. Most students would be waking up within the hour. She buried her face in her hands and sighed. That was the freakiest dream I've had yet, and that's saying something. S'worst than the nighterrors I used to have as a kid. She swung her feet over the bed and got up. Why did I dream about the Nightmare King? Ugh, maybe it was all that food I had last night. I'm not going back to sleep at this rate. Don't want to, either. So, Merida decided to finish whatever homework she wasn't able to complete the night before. Once she did, Merida thought she could practice the new spell she had learned.

Practicing the Confundus Charm was much harder alone than practicing with someone else. Merida was fortunate enough to catch a rat, though, but when she tried using the spell against it, but the only thing the rat did was run around on the table. Merida moaned in anger and stopped practicing. What was the point doing it now? The rat was obviously not going to cooperate, and Merida would have needed another person's help in order to perform the charm. The rest of the students started to wake up and come down to the common room. A group of third year girls walked up to Merida.

"I can't believe it's you!" Fangirl Number One squealed. "You're my inspiration, Silvia!"

"Silvia?" Merida raised an eyebrow. "I''m Merida, not Silvia." Fangirl Number Two's face drooped, like a wilted flower. So did the rest of the girls. They sighed in unison. Merida felt a bubble of anger pop in her stomach. They didn't have to be so upset! Merida was just as good as this...Silvia! Looking closer, Merida could see the girls were triplets- black hair and gray eyes and all.

"Dammit, we really wanted to meet her." They sighed.

"Well, if you see the wonderful Silvia Spavin, let us know, okay!" Fangirl/Triplet Number Three linked her arms around her sisters and skipped away. Merida looked at her wand, then at the students, as if deciding on whether or not she could use the spell on them. Of course, Merida would have to make sure no one was looking, and as the students were filling up the common room quite quickly, but it's not like Merida would actually do it...

"Not going to try anything, are ya, Merida?" Kurt joked. Merida turned around and smiled at him. Kurt returned it with a twinkle in his eye. Merida noted to herself that Kurt looked at Merida much differently than he did with other girls. Could he have a crush on her...? Merida mentally shook herself to snap back into reality.

"Ah, ya caught me in the act," she joked. "Sentence me to death, Your Honor." Merida and Kurt laughed, which only brought more attention to themselves. But they were completely fine with that. It wasn't like Merida was planning to use it on the girls from before. Unless they tried something else, of course.

Hiccup woke up with dark bags under his eyes. Priscilla woke him up by throwing a pillow at Hiccup's head and yelling at him. Hiccup grumbled, but since he was slightly afraid of Priscilla, did as he was told. Yesterday, Hiccup spent most of his time with Toothless. Thanks to Toothless, Hiccup discovered he could speak dragon, but he dared not to say anything about it. Understanding dragons was a bad omen- much worse than being a Parlsetongue.

However, between the bad reputation of speaking dragon and dealing with the current Priscilla, Hiccup would rather take the bad reuptation. Priscilla had snappy towards Hiccup since yesterday once she found out he didn't have the bag anymore. Apparently, it was "a present", but Hiccup couldn't even begin to comprehend how it was supposed to be one. When Hiccup voiced his confusion to Royden, Royden agreed, which only made Priscilla far more angrier. Priscilla snapped at Hiccup once more.

"Get up! We have a lot of work to do today, and just sitting in bed won't do anything!" She growled.

"This isn't even your room!" Hiccup yawned. All of this reminded Hiccup painfully of life back home, when his father would burst in at the crack of dawn and wake Hiccup up. Priscilla blushed and narrowed her eyes.

"Just shut up and get dressed!" She grabbed a pile of clothes and chucked it at Hiccup. She turned around and left the room, slamming the door behind her for good measure Hiccup shook his head.

"I don't get girls." Royden, who was getting his shirt on, couldn't help but nod in agreement.

"That's something no one will ever get."

"Now, hold your wand hand over your broom and shout, 'Up!'" North blew his whistle. Rapunzel tried doing what she was told, but it didn't work. She tried it once more, and it finally worked. The broom effortlessly flew into her hand. Rapunzel smiled, proud of her achievement. It was second period: flying lessons. The grass was still lined with dew and the air was still moist; perfect for flying. Most students had never been on a broom before, so many were still shouting, "Up!". Their voices echoed throughout the grounds, and anyone who was nearby would have surely been distracted.

"Nice work, Rapunz." Dagur smirked. Rapunzel turned around and kept herself from gasping. The boy represented everything she was told to fear: Men with pointy teeth, sharp knives (one was sticking out of the boy's pocket) and evil wizards. Oh, don't be silly, he's not an evil wizard. Rapunzel chided herself. He just looks...bolder than most people. The boy in front of her did look awfully like an evil wizard, though. "No, wait, it was Rapunzel. How could I forget such a pretty name for a pretty girl?" He smirked. Rapunzel laughed weakly. She was obviously scared of him, but still wanted to be polite. "So, tell me, did it hurt?"

"Did what hurt?" Rapunzel asked. Dagur chuckled at the poor girl's naivete. Oh, she was going to be fun to mess around with.

"Did it hurt when you fell out of Heaven?" Rapunzel blushed at Dagur's comment.

"I'm not from Heaven, though."

"Your hair looks like it, though." Dagur smirked. There was an odd gleam in his eyes, as if he knew something Rapunzel didn't and was absolutely enjoying the fact. "Really, how long is it? 40 feet?"

"44, actually." Rapunzel murmured. She hated-no, hate was too strong a word- disliked when people stared at her hair. That's all she was remembered for; her hair. No one noticed her bright green eyes or her crave for knowledge. No, just her hair. Her mother always adored her hair and took much time out of their days to comb it- of course, that was only when Gothel wasn't on her business trips. Madame Gothel owned a beauty company-The Golden Flower Glow. The products were extremely expensive, but worked very well. Gothel only spent the money on herself though, and when Rapunzel would ask why her mother didn't donate the extra money towards a good cause, Gothel's eyes would narrow, and Rapunzel would quiet. She knew her mother could have a temper, especially when the subject concerned beauty.

"Oi, Dagur! Flirtig with Rapunzel with Reject?" Snoutlout shouted a few students down. Dagur took out a pocket knife and started shaving the broom. Each time he shaved it, he brought the pocket knife down a little harder than before, until he was hacking the broom. The message was obvious: Shut up, or I gut you. Snoutlout quickly got the message and shut his mouth. The wood shavings from the old broom fell onto the dewy grass and was weakly carried away by the feeble wind. Dagur smirked once more and put his pocket knife back. He complained loudly that there wasn't enough beautiful girls like Rapunzel at Hogwarts, then started telling tales that sounded too crazy to be real, like the time Dagur "wrestled five-hundred goblins to the ground whilst fighting a dragon" or when he, "Saved a beautiful maiden from fifteen dark wizards while he had a broken arm", or the time he, "Save two beautiful maidens from fifty dark wizards while having a broken arm", or even the time when Dagur "killed a dragon on his own". Rapunzel, although she didn't believe it, smiled and nodded along in politeness.

"You know, my uncle is friends with your mom, actually," Dagur said out of the blue. Rapunzel looked at him in surprise. "Madame Gothel, right? You look nothing like her. I guess you take after your father?"

"I never knew my father," Rapunzel replied. "Mother told me he left before I was born."

"Oh, pity." Dagur didn't sound sad. "My parents buy me things all the time. Well, my mother does. Oswald, my father, doesn't like my 'violent' ways. Honestly, he's such a goody goody." He spat at the ground. "It makes me sick," he said dangerously.

"So, um, how long have you had that pocket knife?" Rapunzel asked nervously.

"This? I had it since I was a baby. My uncle Nife gave it to me."

"But you can't give a knife to a kid!" Rapunzel exclaimed. "That's dangerous, and the kid could easily get hurt!" Dagur burst out laughing. His laugh covered up much of the student's shouts, which quickly brought attention onto them. Dagur continued to laugh until he wiped the tears out of his eyes.

"Oh, Rapunz, you're funny. No, seriously." His voice dropped so low Rapunzel strained her ears to listen. "You're hilarious. You're so funny, you might die from your jokes." His voice was toneless, but Rapunzel could sense an edge of danger to his voice. Okay, he changes moods quickly... She thought."One of these days, someone might find your joke so funny they'll use the Killing Curse on you, and that's when they'll finally start to laugh. Wanna make that today? Or maybe tomorrow? If not, we could always go dragon hunting tomorrow. I know there's one in the forest." Before Rapunzel could respond, North clapped his hands to get everyone's attetion.

"Now, here's how you mount your brooms." North showed them how, and when he blew the whistle, Rapunzel finally felt like broom riding wasn't as bad as she thought, as she got it the first time. It took Dagur four times. His temper was scary, Rapunzel had to admit, so when Dagur finally mounted his broom, she was a bit more relieved than she should have been. Dagur's face would scrunch up, and his eyes would gain the same insane glint he had back in the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, when he played a trick on the class. "On the count of three, kick off and imagine you're in the air." North commanded. One...two-" Dagur and Snotlout had kicked off before anyone else did. A Slytherin attempted to stop them byt grabbing the end of their broom's, but Dagur and Snotlout had gained too much speed. They were, however, thrown off. Snoutlout and his broom started to do front flips. Dagur twirled like a cone. They both crashed in a pond six meters away. With a groan, they hoisted themselves up using their broomsticks. No one moved to help them. Some of them were having a hard time containing their giggles. Most didn't even bother, and some were even on the ground in tears.

"Snotlout, you idiot!" Dagger snarled. Snotlout shrunk back in fear. No matter how tough Snotlout acted, Dagur was able to scare everyone. He turned to everyone and shrieked, "One day, you'll regret laughing at me, and crows will feast on your flesh and bones!" This was enough to quiet the class. Even North seemed concerned. The Slytherin who tried to stop them grumbled, "It's idiots like those who make our house look bad."

"Alright, alright. Check for injury." North boomed. Snotlout and Dagur had a broken wrist and a dislocated shoulder, but otherwise, they were okay. They were sent off and class returned to its normal state, or as normal as it could get. Dagur's threat was obviously still in everyone's mind. Once Rapunzel recovered from her shock, she turned out to be a decent flyer. She smiled once she reached the ground.

"Alright! Class over! Set brooms down!" North bellowed. Rapunzel did as told and rushed to meet up with her friends, the threat in the back of her mind.

Jack didn't know why he was back here. Part of it was because the seventh corridor was off limits, and to Jack, that screamed Come here! And Jack wouldn't want to keep it waiting, and part of it was because you could get a perfect view of the sunset and the moonrise. Totally convinced that he was alone, he let his finger slide along the wall, a trail of frost in its wake. He stopped walking when he heard a familiar voice say, "Hiccup, look at this! Look at all of this frost! Is Jack here?"

"T-That? Oh, it must be a student playing with magic!" Hiccup laughed weakly. "Okay, so we're done here? Let's go back and-"

"No, I wanna see if Jack did this!" Jack cursed under his breath and took off in the other direction. He didn't want to be around Merida's feisty temper at the moment.

"I can hear you running, Frost! Get back here!" Merida shouted. Jack picked up his pace. So did Hiccup and Merida.

"Why're we even going after them, anyways?" Jack heard Hiccup pant.

"We're going to loose him!" Merida cried. The next thing Jack knew, he was on the floor, an apple rolling next to his head. Did Merida chuck that apple at me?!

"Ow..." Jack groaned. "That really hurt."

"Jack?" Merida abruptly stopped. Hiccup caught up with her, panting much more than Merida. "What're you doing here, Frost?"

"I should ask you the same question," Jack muttered and helped himself up. "Were you the one who threw this apple at me?

"We asked ya first." Merida crossed her arms. It was obvious she threw the apple, so why answer Jack's question? "So you tell us first. We all know we're not supposed to be around here, ya know. Moon said we could die!" Jack and Hiccup looked straight at each other, and an understanding passed through them.

"I dared Jack to go cause some mayhem here," Hiccup lied. Jack nodded in confirmation. Merida raised an eyebrow. "He said I wasn't very daring, so I dared him to do this."

"Really?"

"The only thing that's hard to believe is when you get a good test score," Jack teased. Merida's face flushed with anger. She jabbed him in the chest and started to shout at him. "Never mind that, what're you doing here?" Jack waved Merida's temper down. Merida explained that she and Hiccup had been walking around when they saw the trail of frost and decided to follow it, knowing it was Jack. Jack, in return, teased how Merida couldn't stay away from him. She blushed and started to yell at him again.

"Who's there?" They heard Mildew's voice from down the corridor. Everyone exchanged quick looks of terror before bolting off in the other direction. Left, left, right, left right, left right, right. The corridor seemed to go on into eternity. Their hearts beat fasted every time they heard Mildew call after them. Jack finally spotted a room to hide in, pointed to it and threw it open. They stumbled inside and locked the door. While Jack and Merida leaned against the door to listen, Hiccup took in their surroundings, or at least what he could take in. It was hard to see in such a dark room, but from what Hiccup could have guessed, nothing was special about this room. An unlit torch sat on the left-side wall. The room was rectangular and small, just enough to fit five students at most. There was no door out.

They heard the familiar clip clop of a goat. It stopped, then something hit itself violently against the door. "Did you find them?" Mildew wheezed. They were running out of time, and Hiccup needed to think of something. Finally, an idea popped into his head.

"Close any cracks," he whispered to his friends and took out his wand. He whispered, "Incendio!" A small flame flew from the tip of Hiccup's wand. The torch lit up, and the room became as bright as the sun. Hiccup grabbed the torch and tilted it towards him. The flame immediately went out, and the wall silently opened. "This way!" He whispered urgently. Jack and Merida exchanged quick looks of bewilderment, then followed Hiccup. The wall closed behind them, and they were in the dark once more.

"Lumos," Hiccup whispered. The tip of his wand glowed white. The light revealed a long, curly stone staircase in front of them.

"Hiccup, how did you do that?" Merida asked, amazed. Hiccup shrugged.

"Easy. I knew something was special with the room as soon as we entered it. Why was it so small, and why was there only one torch? I just thought like the designer, and everything clicked."

"But now you got us in another situation." Jack bluntly reminded. "And we can't go back the other way."

"So we go down this way, Frost." Merida rolled her eyes and started down the stairs case. "I don't think anyone's been down here in years," she said. "Look at all the dust." She sneezed. It sounded like ten Meridas sneezed at once. For the rest of the time they journeyed down the stairs. After what seemed like an eternity, they reached the bottom. Hiccup raised his wand and gasped. The door in front of them was beautiful; it was a fresh white color, with navy blue snowflakes of every size painted on it. A fancy, regal door handle sat on the right side of the door. Vine like designs stretched out from the snowflakes and curled everywhere on the door and around the handle, but the door was old and fading. However, when Hiccup turned the door handle, the door didn't open. He tried again with a little more force, but to no avail.

"Let me try, Hiccup." Merida tried with much more force than Hiccup, but received the same results. "Why-Won't-You-Open?!" She growled, shaking the door handle with each word. Jack chuckled.

"Step aside, I got this." He grinned and ushered Merida aside. Jack turned the handle, let go, and the door opened on its own.

"How did you do that?" Hiccup asked. Jack shrugged his shoulders.

"I just turned it. Isn't that was everyone does?" He joked. "Now, c'mon, I wanna get out of here as soon as possible." Jack strolled through the door carelessly. Merida and Hiccup exchanged glances before following him.

"It might be because you have ice powers," Hiccup said. Jack shrugged and replied with a, "Maybe". The door led to yet another corridor, but this one was considerably shorter. They finally saw a door at the end, and they immediately knew that this door would lead them out. Jack opened the door part of the way when Hiccup called, "Wait. Is this a door?" Hiccup wiped some dust off the wall. Hiccup was right. The faded, dark green door with a large oak tree painted on it caught everyone's attention. Without asking or thinking, as though Jack had always meant to do it, he grabbed the dusty doorknob and turned it. He gasped when he heard his name called by his...sister? The room in front of Jack was pitch black. No one had been here in years. Jack stepped in, and the door slammed behind him. "Oh, real funny guys. Ha ha." Jack mocked and turned the door knob, but it was locked. "You better-"

"Jack! You're home!" The next thing he knew, Jack was pulled into a hug by his sister . "C'mon! Let's go play a trick on mother, and then we can go swimming!" Pippa took Jack by the hand and tried to lead him away, but Jack didn't budge. He raised an eyebrow. Since when did Pippa enjoy playing tricks on their mother, and when did Pippa arrive? When Jack voiced his worry over Pippa's sudden change of heart, and her sudden appearance, Pippa laughed and waved her brother's worries away. "You could say I have a change of heart, I guess, and how come you didn't notice me? I've been here all along! Now c'mon! That trick won't set itself, ya know!"

"What about my friends?"

"Oh, don't worry about them. They're already there! If we go just a little further, and-" Jack didn't find out what Pippa was going to say, though.

"Jack! Get back here!" Jack was pulled backwards by the collar of his shirt, and the next thing he knew, he was on the ground in front of the mysterious door. Jack blinked once, twice, then shook his head to clear his confused thoughts away. "Frost, what're you doing?!" Merida exclaimed. Jack groaned and sat up.

"Whaddya mean?" He rubbed his aching head. "And where's my sister Pippa?"

"Jack, your sister Pippa was never here. You just kinda stepped in the doorway and your eyes turned black." Hiccup shook his head.

"They turned black?"

"That's what Hiccup just said." Merida rolled her eyes and muttered a, "Can't hear properly..."

"Jack, what happened?" Hiccup asked. So, Jack was resigned to explaining what happened, about finding his sister and her desire to lead him away. "I've never heard of anything like that before..." Hiccup muttered

"It's already late-look!" The pale moonlight barely reached past the doors. "Great, we must have been gone for hours." She moaned.

"Hey, out of curiosity," Jack smirked with a twinkle in his eyes. "What were you guys doing while I was in the seventh corridor? I hope it was school appropriate." He smirked. Merida and Hiccup blushed.

"We were just taking a walk together, Frost!" Merida snapped.

"A romantic walk."

"No, not a romantic walk!"

"Sure, sure. Now c'mon, let's go. I hate to ruin your special little romantic moment, but I really just wanna get to bed." Jack stood up and brushed the dirt off his knees. "Or you can just stay there, too, and kiss for a while. That's fine with me!" He strolled outside nonchalantly. Merida shouted at him and followed. She dragged Hiccup along as if he was a doll.

"We're in the Great Hall," Hiccup noted once they stepped through the doorway. They were near the grand doors, yet the Great Hall seemed less grand in the dark without light porting in form the windows, and students crowding at every table. The door they came in through had blended in with the wall so well, no one would have known about it unless they came through it. Hiccup doubted very few had found this door over the hundred years.

"Alright, I suppose this is where we go our separate ways. Macintosh and Mildew'll probably be prowling for any students, so traveling together won't help." Jack grinned and started to leave. "Good luck getting back!" Hiccup groaned and thought, I wonder how long I'll last until I get caught-Crap! I forgot to see Toothless today! Hiccup face palmed, knowing his dragon friend would surely hold a grudge against Hiccup. When he turned around to say goodnight to Merida, she was already gone. He sighed and cast a look at the secret door.

"We need to mark this so we won't loose it..." He mumbled. Something that would seem ordinary, yet wouldn't be worth enough to do anything about it. Hiccup grinned and took off a helmet from one of the suit of armors and rubbed it against the door. All the the suit of armors had recently been polished again only hours ago, so some of the paint must still be wet. It was brilliant: the paint would mostly dry out by the morning, and everyone would think it was just a reckless student who vandalized the wall. Even then, the paint would stick by morning but since the mark was so small, no one would pay attention to it if they saw it, anyways. Hiccup set the helmet back quietly. He'd make sure to visit the spot in the morning, but for now, he had enough adventures for one day.
