Loving The Quiet
Chapter Three
Grand Tour
The train ride back was surprisingly pleasant. This was mainly due to the fact Kanda wasn't pestered since Scorpio was using sign language to talk to Allen and to get all the answers she wanted about the Black Order. She'd occasionally write down questions on paper that were directed to Kanda, to which the samurai would answer simply. Other than that, she left him alone.
Truthfully, Kanda was rather content with that; she kept the Moyashi busy and with Toma keeping quiet, he had actually enjoyed the train ride back. He supposed he should be thankful to the girl for that, but there was something he didn't like about her, and so far, it wasn't her personality. It was her silence.
The samurai knew she couldn't help that; she was mute for Pete's sake, there's nothing she could do about that! Still though, the quiet provided by a girl of her nature just seemed wrong for some weird reason, and it bothered Kanda that he didn't know why. Unlike other times though, he couldn't put forth blame on her since it was something she couldn't control.
Once they got to the cliff of headquarters, Kanda turned to Scorpio before speaking to her. "We have to climb this so you're cleared by the gatekeeper; do you think you can climb it?" He asked, not out of the will of being polite, but because they had found her in the midst of exhaustion. If she was fatigued still, either he or Allen had to carry her so she didn't fall to her death.
That was paperwork Kanda was unwilling to fill out...
Regardless, Scorpio nodded enthusiastically before signing in Allen's direction. "I'm not tired anymore and I've climbed steeper; I can handle myself!"
"Moyashi, what the hell did she just say?" Kanda asked, a bit frustrated by the fact she could only talk to him by writing something down.
"I'm not a bean sprout, BaKanda!" The albino yelled at the latter, getting a giggle from Scorpio; the pair were quite funny when they argued. "And she said that she's recuperated and that she's climbed steeper mountains before, meaning she'll manage." He answered.
The ebony looked at the pink-head who nodded once more; a huge grin on her face before grabbing Kanda's wrist and dragging him to the base of the cliff. "What the hell?" He asked her as she grabbed the rock.
Giggling, she signed: "Race you to the top!" Before continuing up the cliff without the aid of the exorcists.
In the middle of trying to piece together what she said, Allen simply translated: "She said she'll see us at the top," to ensure the samurai wouldn't try killing him for once. So, now that he was enlightened, Kanda began climbing shortly followed by Allen; keeping an eye on the girl so she didn't fall and hit her head.
As he did so, he thought about the girl's nature again. Someone like her should be just as loud as she was energetic. And judging by the distance she had on the two in a matter of minutes, there was a lot of energy wound up in the female. Even still, she couldn't make much of any form of noise, and while normally Kanda wouldn't mind, he couldn't take the idea of it. Scorpio should be laughing out loud, not restricted to strange noises that were meant to be giggles. She should be shouting with excitement, not bouncing it off from a plain smile. Facts such as these bothered Kanda, and although he shouldn't really care, he did.
After a tiring climb, the two males reached the top; Scorpio sitting on the ledge, not too far away from them. Upon seeing the exorcists, she stood up-reaching out her hand to help the guys to their feet. Allen accepted where Kanda let out his usual "Che," before climbing up himself. He didn't need the girl's help for a menial task, and the look he gave her was meant to express this. Scorpio only blinked a couple times, though; an innocent gleam in her large, doll-like brown eyes before her usual smile returned (as well as making a certain man's frustration return).
The three made there way to the front gate while Allen explained the meaning to the gate keeper. She passed the physical exam with ease and was then brought inside. Komui was in the main lobby waiting for them; his standard rabbit mug in hand, and a warm smile on his face. "Welcome to the Black Order, Scorpio-chan! I'm Supervisor Komui Lee, but please, just call me Komui."
Letting out what was supposed to be a giggle, Scorpio replied: "It's nice to meet you, Komui-san!"
The man smiled kindly at her before speaking with the two exorcists at the door. "Well done, you two. No doubt, our new friend will be a big help to us!" He stated firmly. "Although, you both aren't quite finished yet. Allen, would you be kind enough to get started on writing a report?" He asked the younger of the two.
"Uh, yeah sure." Allen replied calmly; bowing to them before looking back at Scorpio. "Welcome to the Black Order." He said, smiling gently at her.
She returned the look. "Thank you!" And with that, Allen ran off to write the report; leaving Komui and Kanda in the main foyer.
Once the albino was out of sight, Kanda turned to Komui with a perked brow. "What exactly do you wan me to do with the Moyashi writing up the report?" Kanda asked, a bit confused. Not that he liked filling out paperwork, he was just normally the one stuck doing it.
Komui turned shocked towards him shocked for a moment. "Ah, yes. If you would be so kind to show Scorpio-chan around before dropping her off in her room, Kanda." He instructed.
The younger male glared at his supervisor. "Why the fuck do I have to?" Kanda asked a bit pissed. The was nowhere near his usual duties after returning from a mission.
Komui chuckled nervously. "Well, Lenalee's not here to do it, and Allen-kun is horrible with directions." The man stated firmly.
Kanda stopped whatever words he had from rolling off of his tongue. That's right, Lenalee left with the rabbit and old man on a mission out in Finland just a few days before he and Allen headed out. Unfortunately, Komui was also right about Allen's sense of direction. Kanda's had to drag the kid to his own room because he got lost so often. The only place he could find with ease was the cafeteria, and that was probably only because he had a sharp nose.
With much disdain, Kanda let out a "Whatever," before Komui handed him the keys to her room. After that, Kanda grabbed Scorpio's wrist and began dragging her off. He showed her around, telling her what rooms were what, and quickly brushing through any detail Lenalee would leave for new arrivals. Scorpio was writing something on her notepad the entire way. At first Kanda thought she had questions but when she didn't move the hand him the paper, he left her alone and continued with the tour.
When they stopped, they were standing in front of Scorpio's room: 1127. Kanda snorted; a floor above him exactly. He handed Scorpio her room key and stated: "If you have a question about anything today, you'd better ask before tomorrow. My room is exactly a floor bellow here and I'll be there for most of the evening. Don't bother me unless it's important."
Scorpio smiled again before showing Kanda her notepad. Throughout the tour that Kanda had been rushing through, Scorpio had managed to note everything he said and even make floor plans of everything she's seen from all of the pages used. Said girl retrieved the notepad and wrote something else down before showing him again. "You hungry?"
Normally, Kanda didn't bother with new arrivals, but for some weird reason, he found himself nodding at the girl. Scorpio then wrote again: "I'll drop my stuff quickly and then we can head down." Something like that would have made Kanda snort and walk off without her, but he simply stayed put; waiting the few second it took the girl to unlock her door, drop her stuff in it, then lock it before she left. And here they were, walking down to dinner together.
Why he allowed it that day, he never knew.
