Chapter 4. Laying down ground rules
Vanilla attempts to squeeze out of Vanellope's grip but Vanellope crushes her more. Realizing this is no longer a friendly hug Vanilla shouts "If you're trying to crumble
me into little tiny sugar crumbs your close to it Vanellope!" Vanellope smiles and ruffles her hair with her hand, Vanilla whines "Hey stoaap!" "I wanna keep my hair all
nice and pretty, please!" Hearing this Vanellope drops her on the bed giving her a sarcastic look then puts her hands in front of her both closed "Pick one twerp."
Vanilla puzzled by Vanellope's actions points to her right hand. Vanellope smirks opening her hand revealing a feather Vanilla backs up in panic, which sends Vanellope
in a spasm of giggles. "Ha-ha tricked you ya-shoulda picked my left hand this one had a cookie which she eats ravenously. "Now.." Vanellope begins waving the
feather at Vanilla… "This is how it's going to work, I'm 12 you're um.. I don't know maybe 6.. Anyways Boom, I'm older!" Vanilla stands up speaking timidly "9 and 1/2 ."
Vanellope scuffs not buying her story. Vanilla continues "9 and 1/2 ." Vanellope stomps over to her "You're lying!" she stares down the small racer, "Now unless you
want another round of torture you'll tell me your real age." "Anyways it doesn't matter I'm big your little, I'm right your wrong and there's nothing you can do about it
your on my turf now." "So if you're gonna live with 'me your gonna follow my rules and do exactly as I say!" Vanilla sits down obediently smiling up at Vanellope.
Vanellope slows down her words her serious eyes soften "Awww, thanks Squirt, now rule number 1, we always listen to Vanellope." She points to herself proudly
"Rule number 2, you will not annoy me or there will be consequences." Vanilla nods halfheartedly annoyed "Rule number 3, absolutely no going outside after dark that
is unless I know where you're going and know where you are or if you ask me." Vanilla smiles "cause you you'll worry about me?" Vanellope scuff and makes a
disgusted face "Nah, I just need to know." She smiles more crawling a little closer Vanilla leans on her pillow "Wait if you're not worried then why do you need to
know?" she studies Vanellope's face to find a flaw viciously shaking her head Vanellope tackles her and pins her down to the bed "I just need to know that's all your
breaking rule number two don't… push it!" she threatens her face close to Vanilla's. Vanilla's eyes grow wide "Okay!" "Okay!" Vanellope gets off her but holds her glare
on her small companion. "Rule number 5 Never Ever… Vanilla listens intensely "Yes!" she finishes "Touch my car!" "It's the best car ever and the last thing I was is a
nosy little Mentos menace going and getting her thieving little paws on it." Vanilla sneered at her outraged "I can't even drive.." she mumbles "why would I wanna
touch something so ugly anyheheheway AHA-HAHAHA!" but before she could finish her sentence sure enough Vanellope had started waving her soft feather on
Vanilla's feet. "Don't Ever insult the car me and my best chumbo Ralph made!" "it is the best car fast and furious sweet ride I ever had!" Vanilla crossed her legs Indian
style. "Okay!" "I won't I promise!" Vanellope stares at her intensely and Vanilla shows her the most innocent face she can come up with. "You're… lucky you're so cute
kiddo." "Rule number 6…" Vanilla rests her cheek on her hand becoming rather bored "Do not touch anything, do not say anything, or do anything without my say so."
Vanilla starts to fall asleep. Vanellope sticks the feather in her ear "Hey!" She whistles sharply Vanilla giggles hitting the feather with her hand "Listen here!" Vanellope
shouts in that loud out roar Vanilla catches herself and forces herself awake "Ahh, what, what I'm listening." With that She she stuffs the feather in her pocket and
pulls out a stick walking on her bed like a drill sergeant. "Now I have to go gather some food for tonight's dinner you stay right here or else you're gonna get it!"
Vanilla runs up and hugs her "You don't know how happy this makes me I've always wanted a sister and I always felt like my whole life I was supposed to have one
and well here you are!" she giggles Vanellope not so impressed pushes her away with one finger "Yeah I'm not much of a cuddler stay over there, anyways later I'll be
back she turns around and points the stick at Vanilla. "Don't move!" she exits the cave in a glitch shattering like the slam of a door. Interested in her new surroundings
the small racer starts to investigate the mountain, She already loves the bed she demonstrates this by bouncing from the bed to the floor. "Wahooo!" "I have a
sister!" "I have a sister!" "Whooo!" she explores the mountain and comes across a small cracked Mentos on the ground she picks it up and chews on it noticing the
bubbling liquid below her curious she tosses the rock into the soda. In one small motion the liquid explodes a small sizzling mess coming right at her! "Ahhh!" She runs
behind peanut brittle silicon. When the shower of fire stops she pokes her head out "Cool… " Within her small pocket Vanillaope takes out a tiny phone shaped device
and jabs it into the soda dried ground a small screen appears with the scenery that is her game Royal Raceway there we see a racer similar to the design of Tafftya
Muttonfudge approach the screen peeking through her camera. "Hello Glitch." She frowns fiercely "Hi Taffyta." Vanilla's face falls, "We missed you in King Candy's
lecture in school today, oh wait no one did because you're not even part of this game." "Ahaha, where have you been don't tell me you're loafing and sulking in that
ugly home of yours." Vanilla smiles a little proudly "For you information I'm still in Sugar Rush a better one the Original one." "I'm gonna find out who I am here and
then you'll be sorry." "When I learn to drive again I'm gonna kick your salty taffy butt you snickering nerd rope." Taffyta holds a trophy up to the screen "I don't think
so race wanna be anyone with your tiny stature outta just pull the plug on themselves because short people got no reasons." Vanellope overhears someone in her
mountain and goes back to investigate "Rule number 6 no guests. Oh!" she sees Squirt's device she stares at the screen wait a sec.. Is that your game?" Taffya smirks
"Hello Madame Mistake my cousin told me all about you President Glitch." Vanellope frowns at the small Taffyta "Go rot your teeth out with those lollipops Taffyta
Muttonfudge." She smirks again snootier "Oh so that's where you went you went to their looser president you failed glitch even she's better then you." Vanellope's
hands clenched into a fist. "You leave her alone small cavity." Taffya takes her lollipop out of her mouth "That's what she is you know a cavity, a disease no one
wants." Vanilla spoke timidly a lot less forceful then Vanellope "Well if I stay here she can… t-t-take me under her arm and become like my big sister." Taffyta scoffs and
rolls her eyes "What makes you think anyone would want an ugly little glitch girl like you?" at that point Vanilla's eyes started to fill Vanellope noticing it pressed the
hang up button and looked at Vanilla quietly "So that's why you came to my game." Vanilla shook her head closing her eyes as more tears trickled about her face.
Vanellope crossed her arms "Then why did you come?" Vanilla shook her head "Why do you care?" Vanellope tightened up but gave her a grin "Because I'm your big
sister and I order you to tell me." Vanilla scooted away "Um... Well she gulps and clears her throat "A-hem, I Re-fuse!" she crosses her arms and looks away from her.
Vanellope notices this and tries to liven up her fears "Why? It's not like I'm gonna tickle you constantly for the rest of your life!" ^)^ Vanilla eyes her down "Oh yeah
you will and I know you will I'm not scared I just like to undermine you, because you just wanna find my weakest link so that you can overpower me Don't lie to me
Vanellope tell me that is your plan and do not try to tell me it's not all big sisters do it!" Vanellope shrugged and smiled "Nahh. I just wanna have fun with ya. D "I only
tell you what to do so you can grow up normally. If no one tells you what to do then there's a chance that you can end up like Turbo." She attempts to frighten Vanilla,
but to her surprise Vanilla's face falls and she sits on the sponge bed staring at the cola floor lava she speaks quietly and sort of sniffling "Well... ya know when you're
an orphan at 8 years old, that just came in ta the world with no one ta-trust but yourself Vanellope, When all is said and done." "You're pretty much all ya got."
Vanellope sighs "...I know how ya feel." "But now I have you, Squirt. If I didn't have ya, my life right now would be boring and lonely." she sits down next to her which
triggers Vanilla to smile at her wiping her eyes with her blue-sweatshirt sleeve "Ya-know there are a million Vanellope's in the Sugar Rush video game world, you
could'ave chosen as a sister out of all of them why did'ya choose me?" Vanellope puts her arm around Squirts shoulder "Come on.. You're the best one out there!"
"Also, I've met you first, and there's no one like you." Vanilla looks at her kinda nervously. "I chose you because you accept me and your trust-worthy, and I love you."
"You're my hero, kinda like whoever is yours." "I'm just so glad that I met you and I hope we get ta stay sisters for a loooong time." "I love you." "Not the kissy love
BLEAGH!" "The family love." "I guess you can say you brought hope back inta my life, and… well if you love me maybe there's hope for me in my game after all."
Vanellope looks at her lovingly shocked "I'm the best one Really?!" "If you don't wanna take care of me Vanellope you don't have to, it's just that I'm 8 ya-know so I
kinda need a bit of guidance." Vanellope tightened up her arm on her little sisters shoulder "I do love ya, sis." "And I'm super glad that we met!" "And just in case you
reaaaally want to go back into your game and rule it like you did before.. I'd be glad to help ya. And I'm gonna give you guidance don't you worry." Vanilla shivered "No
I'm not ya-know-ready maybe when I like turn 10." Vanellope pulled her closer "Well whenever you're ready I'll have your back!" "You can count on it." "I'm sorry if I
seemed like a bully to you all this time, I just never had a little sis before." Vanellope let go of her but Vanilla pulls her arm back "Are you kiddin'?!" "You're the greatest
one Ever!" Vanellope shocked smiles "Really?" "Well you too, I couldn't ask for any other little sister in the world, you're the best, Squirt!" Vanilla jumps into her lap
"Your no Bully I Love ya!" And you've shown me how great it is to have a sister just promise me that if I get to annoying you won't disown me." She pleads "because in
my game I'm still just 'a glitch I'm not really president everyone in my game hates me.""All the players dislike me and treat me like dirt but you you're free. "She sighs.
Vanellope picks her up and traps her "I feel ya.. I used to be treated the same exact way." "But you're supposed to be princess of sugar rush so why should they treat
you like that now?" "Tell them that they shall be executed!" She tickles her foot a little. ;D Just kiddin. Vanilla pushes her hand away gently "I just wanna stay in your
game." She says a bit broken heartedly "There's some Dufus king in my game." "I hate'um!" She looks sad. Vanellope holds her closer into her lap and lifts up her chin.
Vanilla smiles her eyes drying in one small motion Vanellope picks her up throws her onto the bed. "Hehaha!" Vanilla laughs landing bouncily on the bed while
Vanellope jumps onto the bed landing besides her lying next to her pulls her into a noogie attack "Yeah, stay here! It'll be much better living with me." "Everyone will
love ya I know it." Vanilla pulls her hand off her head. "Are you sure?" Vanellope lays down pulling her close "I know I do Squirt." They fall asleep beside each other as
the sun sets in the west.
