Feather woke up shortly after to find cats pressed around her on all sides. Not just any cats, though. Feather smiled when she recognized Spottedleaf, Yellowfang and another two she-cats that had appeared around the same time as Firestar. Then Feather noticed Jayfeather slipping out from his nest and out of the den. Off to the Moonpool, whatever that is Feather thought.
"Is that where he's going?" Feather asked Spottedleaf.
"Yes, young one. Now go follow him!" she urged. Feather looked at her uncertainly but didn't argue as she silently padded out of the den, following Jayfeather by scent rather than by sight. Then she spotted him, in front of her, walking assuredly on the steep slope. He spun around and stared at her through his sightless blue eyes. She froze.
"Feather?" Jayfeather called.
"Y-yes?" Feather replied.
"Why are you following me?" Jayfeather asked, annoyed.
"I-I was told to…" Feather meowed in a small voice.
"By?" Jayfeather prompted.
"You wouldn't understand." Feather mumbled.
"Try me." Jayfeather challenged.
"Spottedleaf told me to. Do you know her?" Feather retorted.
"You know Spottedleaf ?" Jayfeather stared at her. "You talk to her?"
"You know her, then."
"Of course I know her! It's just… it's complicated…"
Feather glanced at the invisible-except-to-her cats around her. Bluestar was nodding while Spottedleaf was smiling.
"So what now?" Feather meowed worriedly.
"I don't know. I'll have to ask StarClan."
"StarClan?" the she-cat asked. Even as she spoke, she saw all of the cats around her (except Jayfeather) pad away towards the top of the slope.
"Where are you going?" Feather cried running after them. "Spot- Wow!" she reached the top and looked down on the Moonpool, amazed. The cats lapped up a few drops of water and touched their noses to it. Then they disappeared. Without thinking, Feather copied them.
The world turned black for a second, then regained its colour. Feather looked around and spotted Jayfeather doing the same.
Wait a minute!
"You can see?" she exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes. Now, let's go find the StarClan cats and I will explain everything."
