Lucas stood rooted to the ground. He cupped his hands over his mouth as he tried to suppress the fear that was rising within him. His eyes were glossed over with horror and his mouth was agape. His throat turned dry as he was rendered paralyzed with terror. Lucas's eyes were wide and filled with disbelief. They were locked to the corner of the room...
In the corner of the desolate room, sat a young boy. His skin was pale and lifeless and his eye lids were heavy and dark. His body looked extremely frail and damaged, and his clothes were dirty and torn. The boy wasn't moving. He was just curled up in a ball against the wall.
Lucas's heart began to pound at an incredible rate. Was the boy dead? He quickly snapped out of his trance and raced over to the young boy. He knelt down beside him and tilted his head. He listened carefully to see if the boy was breathing... What he heard was troubled and raspy gasps with an unhealthy time between each one.
The blonde boy reached forward and put a finger underneath the weak boy's chin. He gently lifted his head up and analyzed the boy's eyes. Lucas stared deeply into the chestnut orbs... Within the chestnut orbs was a story. A story that read trauma and suffering. A story of deep distress. A story that was going to be sequel-led with Lucas.
The blonde boy carefully let the frail boy's head drop back down. ''H-Hello?'' Lucas attempted to speak to the boy. He got no response in return, besides from another raspy breath. Still, the timid boy didn't give up. ''My name is L-Lucas. I got kidnapped and took to this eerie place. The strangers told me that they were planning to use my PSI powers to take over the world...''
The other boy slowly dragged his gaze from the floor and came to focus on the younger boy. He was listening.
Lucas felt a painful feeling in his heart. He felt so guilty for this boy's state, even if it wasn't his fault... ''They also told me that they had already starved another PSI user of his psychic powers...''
The boy's face suddenly began to show that he was sensitive to this subject. His eyebrows lowered and his eyelids became half closed.
Lucas reached out his hand and placed it on the other boy's hand. ''You're the PSI user that they caught first,'' The timid boy gently whispered. ''Aren't you?''
A single tear escaped the raven-haired boy's chestnut eye and rolled down his dry cheek, leaving a visible tear track. He softly bit his bottom lip before slowly lifting up his free hand to wipe the tear away. From his pale lips he drew a quiet, croaky response. ''Yes. My name is Ninten.''
Ninten. That was the name of the boy who had experienced the immense pain and suffering during a PSI power transaction. Lucas caressed the boy's palm, easing him and indicating that he was here to support him, not to hurt him. ''H-How did they g-get you, Ninten?'' The timid boy struggled with his words as emotions crowded his mind.
Ninten gave out a gravelly cough before letting out a pathetic whimper. ''It was pouring it down with rain one night, and I was out camping with my two best friends. Their names are Ana and Loid... We were really cold as we were not expecting the downfall in weather, so we needed some more firewood to keep the fire going... I told Ana and Loid to stay in the tent and keep warm and dry, and I went out into the dark forest to get the firewood by myself. I had only managed to collect three pieces before somebody grabbed me from behind and slapped their hand across my mouth... Then, before I knew it, I was here... Inside a spherical glass ball, having my powers painfully withdrawn from my body.'' The slouching boy's chest heaved as he ended his story with another cough. Then, from his pocket, he drew an inhaler and inhaled it's contents.
The painful pounding in Lucas's heart increased as his eyes roamed the boy's state once more as he visualized the story he had told. How could somebody do such a thing? He could feel his own cerulean eyes filling with sorrowful tears. He had to help this boy... But how? Could he put his arm around him and attempt to escape the hideout with him? No, too risky... Could he run into the operation room and attack the strangers with his PSI attacks? No, two against one seemed too difficult... Could he lock the door and then look for secret ways out? No, seemingly impossible... There had to be a way to help this unfortunate soul before the strangers did worse!
And then suddenly, it came to him. Telepathy. Lucas still had his PSI ability, so he was still capable of PK moves. Maybe he could use his PSI ability to telepathically connect to another PSI user and ask them for help! Somebody was sure to respond. Afterall, most PSI users were granted with PSI ability to help others and be heroes... This could be the escape for both Lucas and Ninten. This could be freedom.
A/N: I really apologize for the ridiculously long hiatus on this after I said there wouldn't be one. My internet was cut off, and I also lacked time.
Also, I recognize the fact that this chapter seemed rushed. My mind has been very distant lately, and I have been finding it difficult to focus. However, If you viewers liked it, please post a review and I may add the next chapter tomorrow, depending on how it was perceived.
I am also currently updating Instantaneous Endearment, so if you like that fanfic and are one of the people waiting for more, be sure to follow it as it will be updated very soon.
