Chapter four
The Next Day
Naruto and Ameyuri groggily moved through the apartment they shared, going through their daily routine before sitting down at the dining room table, breakfast laid out in front of them.(I'm now just looking up actual Japanese meals now, to match the theme.) A bowl of steamed rice with a side of fried egg rolls, spinach salad with sesame seed and miso soup mixed with thinly sliced chopped onions.
"Do we even know what time class starts?" asked Naruto as Ameyuri sat down.
"He never said anything" said Ameyuri before someone knocked on the door. Naruto stood then moved towards it but as soon as he got near the door he felt Neko appear behind him.
"It's not nice to enter someone's house like that Neko" said Naruto, never moving an inch.
"Sorry, it's a force of habit when I sensed someone else" said the cat masked anbu as Naruto walked back to the table.
"So what brings you down this area? I know you don't come by to just talk to me."
"The academy graduation ceremony is starting, your already late" said Yugao and as soon as she said that Ameyuri took off down the hall to grab her things. Naruto pulled out a scroll and pressed his hand on the center, causing the seal to expand and everything to sink into the formula before the writing returned to the scroll. As Naruto was rolling the scroll up and putting his sandals on Ameyuri returned, her sandals on and her swords now on her sides. Just as Yugao was wondering where Naruto's cloak was it suddenly reappeared over his new attire in a wisp of black energy. The Uzumaki now wore a plain white t-shirt, black ninja cargo pants, black combat boots and had his headband tied around his neck. Ameyuri seemed to keep her entire outfit, the only difference being her blue pinstriped jacket was now green to match the surrounding forest.
"Can you teleport us there?" asked Naruto and Neko nodded her head.
"Of course, I was tasked to do just that" said the anbu before she placed a hand on each of their shoulders before they disappeared in a swirl of leaves.
Academy
Iruka had just finished giving his class their end of the year speech and pulled out their team placements before two new kids and an anbu arrived in the middle of his classroom.
"I find your lack of knocking on doors disturbing Neko-chan" said Naruto making Ameyuri smile a bit.
"I find your lack of time management disturbing" retorted Neko.
"One cannot manage time if one does not know what time things begin and end."
"You can if you get there early enough. Iruka, I have brought these two for you. Apologies on the lateness of the arrival" said Neko before she disappeared in another swirl of leaves.
"She's just upset she's wrong" said Naruto causing Iruka to shake his head.
"Just take a seat in the empty seat next to Shikamaru please. I am about to announce the teams" said the instructor. Both nodded their heads and walked to the top level of the class room before taking their seats next to the sleeping Nara. The first couple of teams were nothing special, just civilians teams with run of the mill shinobi but the clan teams began at team 7.
"Team seven will be Naruto Uzumaki, Ameyuri Ringo and Shikamaru Nara. Team eight will be Hinata Hyuuga, Shino Aburame and Kiba Inuzuka. Team nine is in circulation, team ten will be Ino Yamanaka, Sakura Haruno and Choji Akamichi" said Iruka before Sasuke spoke.
"Where do I go?"
Iruka flipped the page and spoke "You will be the first genin to start an apprentice ship with Kakashi Hatake." With that Sasuke nodded his head and went back to staring out the window, watching the clouds pass.
"Your sensei's will be here momentarily, please stay seated for the moment and best of luck to you all" said Iruka before he left. Not even a minute later jonin began to walk in, getting their teams and leaving until only team seven remained.
"Oh great" said Naruto, sighing heavily which caught the attention of Sasuke and Ameyuri.
"What is it?"
"Well, when I was a kid Kakashi had taken a few places before to get something to eat. I always remember waiting two hours at my apartment before he showed up, saying some corny excuse before he took me out. Since we'll be here for a while we may as well eat our breakfast" said Naruto as he pulled out his scroll and began unsealed the bowls one by one. Once the Uzumaki had everything laid out on the table he turned to Shikamaru.
"We've got extra if you're hungry" said Naruto. The Nara seemed to contemplate his answer before nodding his head, knowing it would be better to at least get along with the people who would watch his back in a fight. That was the scene Kakashi watched from his perch on the tree outside, his three students eating quietly while they told a few stories and shared a laugh.
'Maybe this team will work out better than the others. I guess there's no reason to make them wait any longer' thought Kakashi before he teleported to the door. The jonin stood there, reading his book and waiting a few more minutes before Yugao teleported next to him.
"They're eating together, they already seem to get along well enough to share a meal. Good luck, I'll come pick my genin up in an hour" said Kakashi before he walked off. Yugao sighed then opened the door, causing the four occupants to turn to her.
"Meet me on the roof team seven" was all the anbu spoke before disappearing in a cloud of smoke.
"Not the same person as I thought but oh well" said Naruto with a sigh before he let Shikamaru lead them to the roof where their jonin sensei was, leaning against the rails.
"Take a seat and I'll begin with a little introduction about myself" said Yugao, motioning to the few steps of stairs in front of him. The three took a seat, Naruto and Ameyuri sitting together and Shikamaru sitting to the right of Ameyuri.
"My names Yugao Uzuki, I like many things and dislike many things. I have a dream and a few hobbies, you're up fishcake" said Yugao.
Naruto ignored the insult and spoke "I'm Naruto Uzumaki, I like to train, learn new things and relax with friends and those close to me. I don't like those who enjoy hurting others fun, imprisoning others for your own gain among many other things. My dream it so bring the Uzumaki clan back to life, to have its name feared once more throughout the elemental nations. My hobbies include training, reading when I can and meditating at times."
"Interesting, you're up firecracker."
Ameyuri growled at her before speaking "My name is Ameyuri Ringo, I like improving myself as much as I can, enjoying peace and quiet and training with Naruto. I dislike those who look down on women who become shinobi only because they are women, those who don't respect human life and mistreating others. My dream is to keep the seven swordsmen alive as long as possible and my hobbies include relaxing on a nice day and training.'
"As I expected so last but not least the genius" said Yugao getting no outwards reaction from the Nara.
"My name is Shikamaru Nara, I like to watch clouds, and play shogi with my dad. I dislike those who look down on me because I'm so young and people who think they own others. I don't have much of a dream and a hobby is sleeping."
"Didn't learn too much with you, now did we? No matter, meet me at training ground forty four tomorrow at seven.
"I figured as much from you, I knew there was a reason they just let us in like this" said Naruto and Yugao looked at him to continue.
"The original genin test was more for civilian teams, to make sure we didn't send completely incompetent kids to the jonin. This is the real test, to see if we meet your standards and so we don't get killed as quickly on the battlefield" said Naruto and the purple haired woman nodded her head.
"Good job! Don't forget the time, bye now!" said the anbu before he disappeared in a swirl of leaves.
"See you there Shikamaru" said Naruto before he and Ameyuri walked off, leaving the Nara alone to think.
'Those two, they are stronger than any fresh genin that graduated and maybe stronger than that team still in circulation. They may be good allies but I need to pay attention to them, they may not stay allies for long' thought Shikamaru before he left the roof.
At Naruto's apartment
The two moved to a small room that was considered the guest bedroom however instead of a bed in it only a large scroll laid there. It was open, revealing a seal with a center piece and two side seals that spanned out from it. Naruto sat in the center piece and Ameyuri sat on one of the side pieces. Naruto channeled chakra to the seal then entered his mindscape, Ameyuri felt the tug and then closed her eyes.
Mindscape
Ameyuri opened her eyes and felt Naruto to her right and saw Hitome in front of her, she was not in a good mood.
"What is it?" asked Ameyuri and she didn't speak, only glaring at Naruto.
"When were you going to tell me?" asked Hitome, crossing her arms and tapping her foot.
"Tell you what?" asked Ameyuri and turned to Naruto who sighed and shook his head.
"I didn't feel it activate until now, it appears the constant use of accessing my mindscape triggered it so it made the seal assume you were doing something. That caused the reaction from it" said Naruto.
"You never thought to tell me you knew something was happening previously?" said Hitome angrily.
"It was not something I was fully aware of until just now, the pieces fit together as soon as I noticed it."
"Notices what? Will someone fill me in!?" shouted Ameyuri before Hitome moved to the side and motioned to her house. The three moved towards it and once she opened the door Ameyuri's eyes widened and Naruto's softened.
"Hello, are you Naruto's girlfriend?" asked Kushina Uzumaki from her seat on the couch.
As you can tell with all the editing I will be shortening some chapters and adding some extra stuff to each but keeping the numbers identical, no reason to screw that up. Have a great day!
