AnimeKiwi369: Sorry for not updating, but I'm just getting back to school. And so far junior year is kind of hectic.
Copper: It's only the second week.
AnimeKiwi369: Yeah, but it just feels busy. Plus, I'm in the play, adding to my time constraints.
Lane: All right then.
AnimeKiwi369: Also, I'm working on a couple of other short stories, one of which shall be published alongside this chapter.
Copper: So what goes on in the chapter?
AnimeKiwi369: Not much. It's find of a filler chapter. I won't say much else, I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's or its characters. I only own my OCs and the plot line. I also don't own Vizier. He belongs to VileEXE.
Chapter 3
Family Issues
Copper backed away a little, stunned. This kid, who was no more than a year older than her, was the son of her biggest enemy besides that snarky brunette Arlene. How was that even possible? And why did this Vizier want to help her? Or did he? Was he just here to finish off what his father had started? But wait, he had seemed ashamed of his father.
A thousand thoughts began to run through her head again. She wanted to know what this other psychic—if he even was a psychic—wanted to do with her.
"W-What?" She managed to sputter out.
"My father is Sayer," he noticed the fear in her eyes, "I'm not going to harm you."
"How can I trust that?" She questioned, "How can I know you are nothing like that psychopath you call father?"
"Because I hate my dad," he replied with a shrug.
"And why do you hate your dad?" She inquired, not as afraid from hearing that. Though she wasn't about to trust him yet.
"Well, to start off," he began, "My dad is not married to my mother and sought out women with your mother, Akiza's, hair color in hopes that I would get her hair and his eyes. He didn't love her."
"And the point?" She asked, a little annoyed by this fact for some reason. It was probably just the fact that Sayer had a son out of wedlock and not from love.
"If I got that, he could have passed me off as the son of Sayer and Akiza and completely ruin her," he informed. She gasped a little, her hatred for the Arcadia psychic growing a little more. Vizier motioned to his hair and eyes, "But as you can see, that plan didn't work out. So he raised me to be the strongest psychic in Arcadia."
"And…?" She pressed further, becoming a little suspicious.
"I didn't meet up to his potential," the redhead explained. "I can't forget what he told me. 'He's garbage and deserves to be thrown out with it.'" He told her, quoting his father.
The dark-haired girl gasped again. That is so cruel. A parent saying that to a child was even worse. She didn't think that she had heard anything that cruel in her life. Worse than what Arlene had been calling her and her family because it had been Sayer to his son. All of the negative things she had thought about Vizier instantly vanished. If he hated his father, he couldn't be bad.
"That's horrible!" She exclaimed quietly.
"Yeah, but my mom got me out of there," he commented.
"But still, why keep me from hurting Arlene?" She asked, snarling a little at saying her rival's name, "Why didn't you just let me get in trouble?"
"Because, like I said, you were about to make the news," He replied. "If that went on any longer, you'd end up on the front page of tomorrow's paper. They'd completely slander you as being the daughter of Yusei and Akiza Fudo and granddaughter of Senator Hideo Izinski that could not keep her temper under control. And I like to help others in need. Like you just were," He added.
"Fair enough," She sighed. "Thanks."
"Though I have a feeling your parents are going to find out what happened," the redhead commented.
"How?" She questioned.
"If you had a mirror, you'd see," He commented. "You got a few bruises and scratches. And it looks like one's bleeding."
Copper touched her cheekbone and winced. She felt a little liquid on her nose and lightly brushed her hand over the spot. She looked at her hand only to see blood, "Great." She said sarcastically, rolling her eyes.
"Hopefully those won't take long to heal," He replied.
"Yeah, well, I think I should be getting going so I have time to cover these up before my parents get home," She said getting off the examining table. "Why are you here anyway?" She asked as they carefully stepped out of the examining room, making sure they weren't seen.
"My mom's a nurse here. She left her wallet at home, so I came to drop it off and as I left I saw you fighting with that other girl," He shrugged.
"Oh. Well, later," she replied, going down the hospital corridor and down to wear she parked her duel runner. She opened to the small compartment under the seat and pulled out her jacket and a spare pair of boots she used when she wasn't wearing them. It was just a little bit of protection to her body.
The blue-indigo-eyed girl slowly rode home, letting the new information about Vizier sink in. She never thought that Sayer would have a child when he was such a psychopath. But the plan that the cobalt-eyed boy had told her would be something he would do. And then Sayer wanted to raise his own son to be the strongest psychic in The Arcadia Movement when the first plan didn't go like it should have. It was just so cruel.
She sighed as she pulled into the garage. She noticed her mother's car in the garage. She was going to have to face her mother about this. Unless she hid it until she got upstairs. But why was she home so early? She shouldn't have been home until at least another two hours. Did something happen?
Copper rushed inside a little, hiding her wounds, a bit worried about her mother. Her mother was in the living room with Nicky in the sling with a cream-colored folder in her hands. She sighed; nothing was wrong physically. Though Akiza did look a little pale, it didn't send up a red flag to the dark-haired girl.
She quietly slipped upstairs into her bedroom. She went into her bathroom, going for the bandages and cover up. She didn't wear makeup often. And when she did, it was usually just some lip gloss and nail polish. But she didn't wear cover up, mascara, blush, lip stick, eye liner, or eye shadow very often if at all. However, this was a perfect time to use that cover up on the bruises, as she did find a couple others on her face, with that makeup. She smoothed on the creamy substance onto her face thoroughly before applying the bandage to her nose.
The psychic removed her shoes, tossing them in the closet before going downstairs. She went into the kitchen and grabbed some of the leftover pasta salad and fork. She went to the living room and sat on the side of the couch opposite her mother. She noticed…nervousness in her eyes. Why was her mother nervous?
"Is everything okay, mom?" She asked as she speared a piece of zucchini and pasta, "You're home early."
"No," her mother sighed. "There's someone I have to duel. And I couldn't focus at work."
"Yeah, I know that. But you can take 'em," the blue-indigo-eyed girl reassured. "You're amazing!"
Akiza's lips twitched a little, "Thank you, honey." She told her, gently brushing her hand on her daughter's cheek, "But this person I'm dueling with is difficult. And it was anything but a walk in the park the last time I faced him."
"When did you face this person?" The curious girl inquired.
"Over twenty years ago."
"That really narrows it down, mom," she replied sarcastically. "You faced a lot of duelists back then."
"And the only way he's probably one of the strongest people I've ever faced is he that caused me to doubt myself. He got into my head. It was scary in front of all those people…" her mother trailed off, as if in a trance.
'All those people'? The dark-haired girl repeated in her head. A thought came to her head on who it was, "Is it Commander Koda you have to face, mom?"
The redhead grimaced and nodded, "I'm nervous about facing him. I'm dreading it. Copper, baby, I'm afraid." Her mother's voiced trailed to a whisper, "I just know he still holds that grudge against me…"
"Mom," she started, "Don't worry… I'm going to be there for you and so will dad, and everyone else. We wouldn't miss it for the world."
"I know. But I'm still nervous since this rivalry was renewed when I got that folder," Her mother reiterated. "I don't think I've ever felt so afraid about a duel."
The younger psychic put down the leftover pasta salad and scooted over to her mother. She carefully wrapped her arms around the Signer's waist. She gently kissed her mother's cheek and rested her head against her shoulder, wincing a little from the bruise she got. She nuzzled the crook of the female Signer's neck, like she was little again. It had always made her mother smile. Akiza wrapped one arm around her daughter and buried her face in her hair a little.
"Thank you, honey," she said. "I needed this. You're so sweet."
"I get it from you, and you needed this," the blue-indigo-eyed girl replied. "You know I love you."
"And I you," the burgundy-haired woman responded.
"I know," the double-Marked Signer commented. "And I know that you'll forgive me no matter what, right?"
"Of course," her mother told her. "But why did you bring that up?"
Copper detached from her mother and looked down. She knew she'd have to tell sooner or later, but she was hoping it wouldn't be like this. She'd only said that comment to verify her mother would forgive her of anything.
Oh well, looks like that there's no hiding it, she thought and sighed a little.
"I kinda sorta got into a fight at the hospital," she admitted.
"Oh, no. It wasn't with Lane was it, honey?" Her mother asked.
"What? No! no," the dark-haired girl said hastily. "He's doing great. It was…after I left him. Let's just say my rivalry with Arlene was renewed," she crinkled her nose at her name.
"What happened?" The redhead asked, "How did the fight start?"
She sighed again, "Technically I started the fight physically. She started it verbally."
"Oh, Copper," her mother said.
"Mom, I'm sorry," she apologized. "But, mom, she called me a slut. Multiple times. And she insulted you and dad. I couldn't let her get away with that. I tried to make her take it back before I knocked her to the ground, though. She doesn't know anything! She—"
Akiza placed a finger on the babbling girl's lips to silence her, "Shhh… Honey, I'm not mad at you. As much as I don't like you to use violence, she had it coming because I know how much you love your father and me. And something snapped in you because she was insulting us, huh?" She nodded, "I'm not mad. You were only trying to defend us. Don't worry; I'll always forgive you. Always. And I forgive you this time. Okay?" The girl nodded again as her mother kissed her forehead.
"Okay," the dark-haired psychic replied. "I also met someone. He kinda pulled me off of Arlene," she added. "And you won't believe what he's like or what he's gone though."
"Well, who was it?" The redhead inquired.
"His name was Vizier," she explained. "And his dad is...is…Sayer."
"What?!"
She explained what had happened and how she met Vizier. She also explained how she had been apprehensive at first, too. Her mother nodded as she finished, "And that's that." She finished, "He's not here to hurt us."
"All right," her mother replied, gaining a calm composure, "Do you think you could watch your little brother for a little bit? I'm going to go rest for a little bit by taking a bath."
"Sure, mom," the dark-haired girl replied as her mother gave her the small baby inside the cloth cradle.
"There's formula in the fridge if he gets hungry," her mother informed going of the stairs.
"Okay," she said, more to herself than her mother.
Copper looked down at her little brother; it still felt a little weird to say that when she was so much older than him. He gave a small yawn and opened his small eyes. He gave her a toothless smile, as he was just a couple months old. She gave a gentle smile back. She cradled him into a sitting position in her arms. She couldn't help but plant a soft kiss on his little cheek. She liked being a big sister and being a clichéd type a little.
Nickie gave a baby-like giggle and tried to give her a wave. She couldn't help but laugh softly and take his small hand. He was just so adorable at times. She hugged him gently as so not hurt him. She wasn't even thinking about Arlene or what she had been saying.
At least someone could turn her day around.
A Few Hours Later
The dark-haired psychic let herself yawn a little as she dozed in her father's armchair, with her little brother still in her arms. A wave of tiredness had just come upon her. Their mother was making dinner and their father wasn't home yet. But their Nanna was home, but she was helping their mother. The young girl was bored, just sitting there, but was a little too tired to do anything about it. Her brother clung to her shirt just slightly in a baby manner.
She heard a light chuckle and opened her eyes to see her mother hovering above her.
"Looks like both of my babies are tired," she commented, "You two look so cute together that way, Copper."
"I guess so," she replied. "When's dinner going to be ready?"
"Not for at least an hour," the redhead replied, taking the little dark-haired baby in her arms and going up the stairs.
"Good, I'm gonna take a nap," she replied, getting up and trudging up the stairs to her room. She flopped down on the bed and let herself doze into a deep sleep for a short nap.
AnimeKiwi369: I love the little bit with Copper and Nickie. It's an adorable little older sister/baby brother relationship between them, right?
Copper: My baby brother is adorable. I'm so glad someone can make me smile when I'm down.
Lane: What about me?
Copper: You do that too, Lane.
AnimeKiwi369: But you're still in the hospital.
Copper: Will we have another long wait between chapters?
AnimeKiwi369: Probably. Like I said, I'm trying to get back into the school routine, and I'm pretty busy.
Lane: Well, I'm sure everyone will understand.
AnimeKiwi369: Me, too. I'll just leave it at I'll try to update soon. I really appreciate the reviews I've been getting. So please be kind and please review! :]
