A/n: Here's Chapter 5. My writing partner suggests that I should put this in the "regular" section instead of the cross-over section. So I'll probably mention this in every chapter henceforth that this includes an appreciable portion of Percy Jackson in it. (Just a brief mention in the first fanfic, the other two will contain more of it.)

I DON'T OWN BEYBLADE! ALL THE UNKNOW/NEW CHARACTERS HERE ARE MINE. THIS IS FOR ENTERTAINMENT PURPOSES ONLY.

Read and Review please! :)

Chapter 4 – Recognition

Time flies. After hours of training, Miyoko and her captain finally left the training hall. Practice with Tala went fairly well, but as the two teammates left the training room the most embarrassing thing happened to Miyoko and she knew she wouldn't be able to live it down anytime soon. The golden-haired girl was in front of her captain when she turned around to see him walking rather slowly behind her.

He was looking down. That was a sign that something was bothering him because he would usually walk tall; displaying the authority he was given. Miyoko waited for the red-head to catch up.

Just when he was about two steps away from her, Miyoko received a shove from behind her. She stumbled and almost ran into Tala! He had to grip her by the shoulders to keep her from falling. Their faces were only a few inches apart. Icy blue eyes stared at her in surprise. She quickly backed away from her captain and turned around to see a smirking Bryan and a sniggering Ian. Her face reddened slightly when she realized why they were laughing.

"What the hell are you doing?! There are cameras in the halls. You know you're simply asking for punishment," she hissed, angry and embarrassed at the same time. "Keep it cool, Miyoko. It was just a joke. Besides, you're the only one who didn't like that," her lavender-haired friend replied, his gray-eyed gaze turning towards the red-head.

"Just because I haven't said anything yet, that doesn't mean I'm not upset. Don't assume things about me. This wasn't funny," the leader glared, trying to cover up the embarrassment. Ian whistled appreciatively at the captain's words, "Now someone's clearly embarrassed."

This time, unlike other days, Tala ignored his purple-haired friend's comment and addressed the team, "We meet in mine and Bryan's room in one and a half hour. We have to discuss the strategy for our tournament – which includes the "task". And I think I should've reminded you that Boris came back last night," he added. The last sentence wiped the smiles off Bryan and Ian's faces. They even paled somewhat.

Tala looked at Bryan, "Bring Spencer on the way." The lavender-head nodded, "Sure thing. I'll get him when we head back later." With that the four teammates split to reach their respective destinations.

Miyoko shut the door of her room and held her head in her hands. She may have disliked being the only girl in the Abbey, but now she absolutely hated it. The thought of the "task" and Boris' wrath loomed in her mind. She then dismissed all distractions and began her preparations.

After finishing practice, Bryan and Ian found Spencer in his room, sitting on the edge of his bed, deep in thought. "Hey Spencer, what's up? We have a team meeting in an hour," Ian told his tall and well-built friend.

The eldest member of the Demolition Boys nodded absentmindedly, but his pale blue eyes didn't leave the opposite wall. "Is something wrong?" Ian asked. Spencer locked eyes with his teammates. "Boris has invited some guests to the abbey," he started. "So?" Bryan asked, not seeing a problem.

"I saw them – a group of five boys called Bladebreakers. The first was a navy haired dude. He had a standing-out white, red and blue cap. The second was a brunette who had blue glasses and he was carrying a laptop. He seemed like the geek of the group. The third was a blonde American who looked like he was on a severe sugar high. He and the navy-haired guy were fooling around, and they were leading the rest. The fourth one, however, looked a little more mature and had raven hair tied in a white wrap. He had amber eyes and I think he was Chinese." Spencer told his curious teammates, who were listening intently.

"You said there were five. What about the last one?" asked Ian. "The last one was walking right at the back. He had slate-colored hair and crimson eyes. The most noticeable thing about him was the white scarf wrapped around his neck along with shark-fin tattoos on either side of his face," Spencer said as he stood up.

"No way…" "It can't be…" his friends replied looking as shocked as he was.

"It's true. You understand what I'm trying to say right?" the tall blonde asked, a hint of cruel realization in his eyes. "No! I refuse to believe this!" Bryan said and started backing away from his older friend, as though afraid he might get attacked.

Ian stood there gaping at what he had just heard. Spencer gently gripped the lavender-head's shoulders. He knew that his younger teammate could never take surprises well.

"I know you don't want to believe this. I don't want to either. But this is the truth. He abandoned all of us. Kai Hiwatari didn't die that night."

Uncertainty was covering every bit of Kai's heart. Even when the rest of the Bladebreakers were enjoying the meals organized by Boris, Kai was on an edge. He kept looking around, wondering why his surroundings looked so familiar.

Even the food had something that made him feel nostalgic – although he had never tried Russian food in his life. At least not in the past that he could recall. As the Bladebreakers walked out of the dining room they saw a group of boys being trained by other abbots in the snow-covered ground. They seemed to be reciting some lines in Russian.

Long distance made Kai pick up only a few keywords – "Victory… Goal… Defeat… Nothing worse…"the slate-haired teen heard them say. These were just five words but, like a bell, one sentence started ringing at the back of his mind as these words repeated themselves. 'Victory is our goal and there is absolutely nothing worse than defeat,' his mind said to him.

"Sir Boris?" Max called the head abbot. "Yes?" Boris said, turning to the young blonde. "What are they saying? It sounds like a chant," the American pointed at the group of training boys with lifeless eyes and blank looks.

"They are the group of first-year boys that are being prepared for the next world championships. We are teaching them that victory is the ultimate goal and that nothing is as bad as defeat," the purple-haired man replied.

Kai felt his heart stop. How? How did he know what they were saying even without listening to them? This was the first time he had visited Balcov Abbey… right?

"Man, it must be boring to train like that," Tyson commented. "You don't seem to believe in our methods. Perhaps a friendly-match would change your opinion," Boris suggested, smiling at the navy-haired teen. Tyson, literally twitching with excitement, was unable to respond.

Kenny glanced at the confused look on the head abbot's face and replied for his friend, "We would love to battle, sir. It would be a great honor to be a part of the match." "Well, then. Please head this way," the abbot said, gesturing towards a large doored room at the end of the hallway. "Assemble in the Chamber of competition," he said to the first-year boys. "Yes sir!" they sang in a Russian chorus.

As they head to the Chamber of competition, something shiny caught Kai's eye. He stopped dead in his tracks and looked at the opposite tower of the Abbey.

In one of the windows, he saw a girl with blonde hair like Max, but with something different and memorable about it. Her back was turned against the frame. The golden-yellow hair was flying in the cold Russian air and, for just a moment, it seemed to reflect the pale rays of the sun.

A hand was placed on Kai's shoulder, startling the Bladebreakers' captain, who turned to face the neko-jin. "Kai, is something wrong? I called you twice, but you didn't respond," Ray said to his leader with concerned eyes.

Kai looked back at the spot where he had seen the girl but saw nothing but a white curtain "It's nothing. I thought I saw something. But it's nothing," Kai said, averting his gaze from the tower as he continued walking behind his team.

Something just didn't feel right. The void in his heart seemed to be growing every minute.
