"Sir I'm going with you." Janet announced for the third time. "They could be injured."
"And as I've told you Sam has the healing device." Jacob argued, not that he didn't like or trust the doctor it was just, well she's short, with short legs, and he wanted to make good time. With Selmac's help he made the trip in a little less than a day. Jack would slow him and Teal'c down badly enough, the doctor….
"And as I've said there are many things your healing device can not fix."
"Enough people." General Hammond said. "Doctor you have five minutes to change and meet the team in the gate room. They will leave, with or without you."
"Yes sir!" Janet rushed out of the room.
"George."
"Jacob. I'm not sure why your so against Doctor Frasier's going but she has a valid point. I want her there, I trust SG-1 to no one else. Now let's go to the gate room and see if everything's ready to go."

Daniel woke with the very first splash of cold water on his back. He checked his watch, three hours until dawn. Shit, this was going to suck. The night held a slight chill that he hadn't noticed until he sat up. Frowning he reached down and felt Sam's forehead, she was burning up, no wonder he was so warm.
"Sam, wake up." Daniel shook her some, no response. "Come on Sam get up."
Sam moaned and tried to curl more into herself. Daniel sighed. The water hadn't been this high before, at least he didn't think so. Carefully he maneuvered into a sitting position with Sam between his legs, her head resting high on his chest. She put up no fight which worried Daniel as much as the heat rolling off her body. He was tired but unable to sleep as the water slowly rose up her bodies.

Jacob had been more than a little thrilled when he saw the off road vehicle in the gate room packed with equipment. He even found himself amused as Janet came tearing in still buttoning her blouse, only two chevrons before the gate activated. He was not happy to find it would still take the better part of the day to reach his daughter.

The water made it to Sam's chin before it once again began sinking back down. Daniel had been worried he wouldn't be able to keep Sam above water. He was cold, even though the sun had been out for hours but they were still submerged up to their hips in the icy water. Sam had long ago stopped shivering, not a good sign. With the water still receding Daniel finally felt it was safe enough to sleep.
Daniel woke to Sam thrashing about, screaming in Goa'uld. He tried to talk to her, in English and Goa'uld, only to realize the fever was making her delirious. He held her still the best he could until she tired herself out. Only then did he gently slid her down to rest on the rock. He removed his outer shirt and then the black tee shirt, it was now warm enough to go without. He soaked the tee shirt, he needed to cool Sam down some, he only hoped the water wouldn't make her more sick then she already was. He was going to simply drape his shirt over her but instead he took out his knife and cut it into three pieces, placing one under each armpit and used the third to wipe down her face, careful to avoid the cut.
He continued this for a while, trying desperately not to think about how hungry and thirsty he was. As he returned to the water yet again he swore he heard an engine. Damn, he must be delirious too. Moving back he knelt next to Sam and again began to wipe down her over heated skin.
