"What," Wendy sputtered eyes wide.

"That kiss I saw it. Next time don't kiss in front of sickbay." McCoy turned to her with a smile.

"I tripped I swear. I mean…It was an accident…I don't even know if he likes me." Wendy said getting flustered and angry. Why should she have to explain herself?

"Right, sure squirt. You like him, and you liked that kiss." McCoy continued to push as Chekov walked in behind Wendy.

"No, I don't! I don't like Pavel! He's just some guy I met three days ago! That kiss meant nothing, he means nothing." McCoy made a turning gesture with a worried glace. "What?" She turned and saw a face that broke her heart. He was heartbroken.

"I mean nozing to jou, I-I zought ve vere friends, maybe more." Pavel's voice shook slightly. Wendy felt tears coming to her eyes.

"Pavel, no I…I just got mad and," Pavel shook his head cutting Wendy off.

"Forgeet eet. Just…Just don't talk to me anymore." With that he walked out and back to his station. McCoy stood there watching Wendy's heart break.

"I didn't mean it! I just got mad. Dr. McCoy you know I didn't mean it! Can you talk to him?" McCoy patted the bio-bed for her to sit.

"Let me tell you something about Pavel. When he gets upset he turns into a different person. He closes in on himself and doesn't ever really want to talk about it. Like the time he lost Spock's mom in transport…and she died when old Vulcan collapsed. He blamed himself and moped for weeks, not eating or sleeping. He passed out a few times because of it. You're going have to get Mr. Sulu to talk to him. They're best buds. If he can't get in there…You're in deep." Len looked up at Wendy. A few tears had fallen. He patted her leg. "Everything will turn out right. I promise." When she didn't look up. "Come on Squirt that face is killing me. The Kid will forgive you you'll kiss and make up. Trust me I'm a Doctor…I know these things."

Wendy finally looked up with a smile, "Thank you Doctor McCoy." Wendy hopped down and hugged him. McCoy stood there a monument before briefly hugging back. He cleared his throat and gently pushed her off.

"Alright, Alright…Enough, I got work remember?"

Pavel laid on his bed staring at the ceiling. Hikaru slipped in the door and stared at his friend for a while. "Alright," Hikaru finally spoke up. "What's wrong with you." Pavel didn't answer. Sulu shook his shoulder. "Pavel?" The younger boy said something in Russian, knowing the ensign he guessed it was go away.

"Come on Pavel what's going on. At least give me a little insight." Sulu begged.

"Love sucks, girls suck, life sucks." Pavel sighed as he held a pillow over his face.

"Okay bright little ray of sunshine, great start. But I need a little more detail." Sulu chucked sitting on the bed.

"Eet not funny," Pavel muffed cry came from the pillow. Sulu sighed, this was serious.

"You're right I'm sorry. Are you going to tell me what's wrong?"

"I did! Ef zat is no enough, to bad!"

" Alright I'll guess and you tell me." Pavel sighed at his relentless friend. "Is it new orders?"

"Neyt," Pavel sighed. Sulu tried, the captain, lt. Riley, Spock's mom, Spock, hormones, all got the same answer 'Neyt.' Then he finally hit the nail on the head.

"Is it a girl," Pavel nodded and sighed. "Okay a girl then….Is it Wendy?"

"Jes! Okay, eets Vendy are jou happy?" Pavel lashed out from behind his pillow and Sulu flinched.

"Oh, wow. I've never seen you like this. Then again you never have had girl problems. How does it feel having real teenager issues?" The pillow ripped from Pavel's face and he glared at Sulu. On close to the McCoy look. "Sorry."

"Hikaru! Jou don't get eet! She said deen't matter. I was just some guy!" Pavel placed the pillow over his face again. "I never cared about girls before! You know that! In the academy it was all work, work, work!" Pavel was desperate and needed someone to help him.

"Well Pav, All the girls in the academy were at least three years older than you. And you were fourteen in the Academy…and now you are seventeen. It's okay it natural…" Sulu stoothed trying to take the pillow.

"But, eet doesn't make sense! She'll be out of my life in two veeks it makes no sense to be attracted to her! And even zough zhe hurt me…I still like her. A lot. Jou know zat kiss I told jou about?" Sulu nodded, "she said it meant nozing."

Sulu yanked the pillow away and forced the young ensign to sit up. "I'll talk to her okay? Because, I'm positive she likes you." Sulu ruffled his hair. "Come on Pav, let's get some lunch."

Wendy sat in the corner of the mess hall watching everyone. Mainly looking for Pavel and Sulu. She found them, watching across the room. Pavel still looked really upset. She watched him take a bite of an apple. Wendy watched his lips form around the apple. She remember when her friend told her that you can tell a guy is a good kisser by the way he eats an apple. Originally it sounded absurd, but now she saw it, it seem real. Wendy couldn't believe it. She was jealous of a piece of fruit! She wanted those thin lip on hers, she wanted all to be forgiven. She mainly wanted to start over. Wendy's head met the table and groaned.

"Boy trouble," a female voiced asked. Wendy looked up and met eyes with McCoy's head nurse: Christine Chapel. "It's okay Doctor McCoy told me what happened. That you got upset and Chekov heard your outburst of defense. He told me, 'you're a girl, she'll trust you more. Talk to her.'" Christine smiled, as Wendy became distracted by Pavel eating. "So between you and me. Do you honesty like him?"

Wendy sighed in defeat and placed her head on the table again. "Yes." Chapel looked over her shoulder, Pavel was pretending, quite badly, not to look over at the distressed red-head. "But he hates me now!"

"I wouldn't be so sure. Listen….you guys will patch this up and soon you'll be kissing in the hallway again."

"That was an accident! If the Doctor told you otherwise he has a very active imagination. I just," Wendy propped her head up, looking into Christine's eyes. "What's the point of fixing things? I'm gone in two weeks, will be gone for two years, and probably won't get assigned here."

"The point is you guys can still communicate…You can still can technically be together. Plus you don't want to be angry, or upset, or know your relationship with him is off, do you?" Wendy shook her head. "Well, Len probably wants me back soon. Talk to him…It's for the best."

"Trust you you're a nurse?" Christine laughed as she stood to leave.

"Something like that. "I'll see you later in sickbay."

After Pavel finished eating her headed to the turbo-lift to take him to the deck his room was on. Wendy fallowed suit. "Pavel," Wendy spoke as the doors close.

"Vhat," Pavel asked out of true kindness in his heart.

"I'm sorry," Wendy tried to look him in the eye but he looked away.

"For vhat? Shattering my heart," Pavel commented cold-heartedly.

"Oh for God's sake!" Wendy exclaimed hitting the stop button on the turbo-lift. "Listen it's not what you heard okay? Doctor McCoy was badgering me and I got defensive! You are not just some guy! Yes you are a guy I met three days ago, but your nice and cool to be around."

"But I am still nozing correct?" Wendy sighed, that Russian stubbornness was going to get him killed.

"No you are not! Okay I want to start over and e a friend because I guess we can't handle being more." Pavel remained silent looking away. "Fine, be that way. Don't say I never gave you a chance!" The lift came to deck 5, Wendy stepped off. "For the record, You and me being friends…or more…is always on the table. Come talk to me." Wendy walked away. Pavel watched her walk.

"Vendy, I," Wendy turned to look. "Nothzing."

Wendy walked into sickbay with a slightly defeated look. "Hey squirt, how about you tag along on a landing party?"

"Me? But I'm not," Wendy stuttered.

"It'll be good for you," McCoy said backing his medical bag. Get some real time in."

"But isn't it dangerous," Wendy asked reaching to help.

"Maybe a tad, but it is a exploratory mission on this planet. Nothing to bad. By the way how'd things go patching things up?"

"Not good, but I think I got through to him."

"I feel like a huge jerk," Pavel cried changing his shirt.

"Tell her that. And that you are sorry," Sulu called to him through the bathroom door. "Just apologize, she'll understand."

"I should have known! Vendy ess to nice to lead anyone one. I em so stupid! Now instead of talking to her to fix things I have to go on a stupid landing mission!"

"I'm sorry buddy," Sulu said as his friend came out. "Have fun."

"Da, because drowning in self-loathing for a few hours is fun," Pavel comment dryly leaving his room.
