Nico POV
Yesterday had to be the biggest mistake that I ever made. He's never going to want to have a conversation with me, let alone hang out together. Why did I have to let my emotions come over me? Conceal; don't feel is the number one rule of Nico di Angelo. If everyone can see your emotions, the more susceptible you are to hurt more in the long run. Already I could feel the pain of the future that awaited me when Percy told Annabeth (HIS GIRLFRIEND) about me kissing him. Life just got that much harder for me. Coming up with a lie to cover the reason for the kiss and number was going to have to be the most believable lie to ever told. Percy wasn't as much an idiot as he led others to believe. Now, I have to tell Octavian and Luke about this spontaneous occurrence, maybe I wouldn't have to tell them, IF they didn't find out. Yeah, if, if is good.
Percy POV
Holy fucking shit! Holy Jesus that was the single most best thing to ever happen to him in his 16 years of living! Nico fucking di Angelo returned his feelings! Annabeth had to know about this. She would be ecstatic that he would no longer be complaining about his unrequited love for the sexy Italian. He finally called her up since he started to calm down from yesterday. She wouldn't have been able to understand his Pig Latin if he called her yesterday or ran over to tell her while she was at work. Plus, he couldn't just hold up a line of customers because the apple of his eye returned his feelings. That's would just be plain selfish, and his mother had taught him better than that.
"Perseus, how are you this fine evening?"
"Annabeth! You will never guess what happened to me!"
"Let me take a wild guess, judging by your rapid breathing and obnoxious interjections. Your guy whom you want to have coitus with has most likely returned your supposed 'unrequited' love finally."
"You have to take all the fun out of my exasperating joy, don't you."
"Quite so, my dear Watson."
"Yeah, so Nico planted a kiss right on my cheek and gave me his number. Is that plain enough for you?"
"So much easier to just get to the point out of the long and entangled sentence structure, isn't it?"Annabeth said in a way just so Percy could tell that she was smirking on the other line.
"Yeah, whatever. So getting along with the conversation, I don't know whether if I called him today or even texted him would be to soon." Percy summed up his whole conversation for her just because she did not have time for him.
"Percy, let me put this as simple as possible. . . You call him and you get a date, or you leave him hanging and you both will have crushed hearts. Now, I have to go for I have a lunch to get back to with Reyna and Piper."
No elaboration, just a plain do or don't. Percy despised these types of ultimatums. Yet, he guessed he would rather have a date rather than an obliterated heart. He decided on calling up the Italian and making a surprise date at the park with a picnic. That would be romantic, right? Going all Augustus on dating. The phone rang three times till there was an answer on the other end that gave Percy chills.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Nico. It's Percy. I was just wondering if you would like to hang out again soon? I mean we don't have to if you wouldn't like to or anything its just that we both had a great time together and-"
"Perseus," Nico's native roll of the tongue came out while speaking his name, the Sea Prince had never found his name so sexy before.
"Yes, I would like to hang out once again."
"Great! So I'll come pick you up tomorrow afternoon around 1:45 or so."
"Yeah, Okay. So, what will we be doing exactly so I can dress according to what we're doing for this date- no I mean like meeting!"
"It's Okay, Nico. Besides, it's a surprise meeting. Just make sure you don't dress nice. Dress how you usually dress, you look good with whatever you wear. I'll see you tomorrow, unless there's something else you want to say." Which of course the Sea Prince was hoping for a confession, yet all he received was a quick,
"Nope, nope nothing at all. I'll see you tomorrow, goodbye Percy."
The first call had ended, leaving Percy with a slight opened mouth to catch flies in. Nico di Angelo was one hard fish to catch.
Nico POV
What to wear, what to wear? It was only going to take him a few minutes to decide what to wear since all his clothes looked the same. Black and blue like a bruise. So few other colors except for green, green was his favorite color and no one else could find the reason why. Easy, it was not a creative color, just like his wardrobe. In the end, he chose a black shirt with a stack of skulls, black skinny jeans that complimented his ass quite well, and his black converse. Classy ass bitch. Now to plan how he was going to lie through his teeth about why he kissed Percy. Like, how do you bring that up in a conversation? "Hey, so by the way the kiss wasn't at all because I love you or anything, it's just how one says goodbye in Italian." No, he needed to be a smooth ass motherfucker. Just weave it into the conversation. Yeah, that's good. He still had the night and most of tomorrow to deal with till his ultimate challenge. He couldn't slip up again. Not after what had happened woe those few years ago. But, let's not dwell on the past for now. There's a time and place for mucking around.
3rd person POV
As Perseus ran about getting their plans all set up for the "just in cases" that could happen. What if it rained? What if it closed at the park they were to go to? What if he had to go to the bathroom while confessing his love? Everything would either go completely wrong or right, there was no middle. Oh life, thou art is a heartless bitch. Whereas in another place, Nico was frantically running about worrying ever since the call. He didn't even get enough sleep from worrying all day about it. Underneath his eyes were bothersome bags that he got rid of with his sister concealer, since they had the same complexion. He was just hoping that Percy wouldn't notice the slight change in appearance. Just ten minutes until he was going to be meeting up with his Sea Prince. Just ten minutes until he'll be in his car trying to make awkward small talk and trying to find out where they were heading. Percy was wandering about Nico's street incessantly, trying to find out where the hell Hamashaw avenue was. All he was seeing was fucking Jamaca avenue! He was almost late and didn't want help finding the street he was to turn left on. He'd been driving around for the past twenty minutes looking for the stupid avenue. He may as well have walked all the way here if he was going to be late!
"Of all the goddamn things!" Percy's raving rant became interrupted with the sound of "Under the Sea" playing as someone was calling him. He picked up his cell phone and saw his Ghost Prince's name light up the screen as bright as the sun.
"Hey, Nico! So, I'm a bit lost."
"Yeah, no shit you idiot."
"Sorry, but all I see is a Jamaca avenue, yet no Hamashaw."
"How is it spelled?"
"J-A-M-A-C-H-A."
"YOU FUCKING DITZ! THAT'S HAMASHAW!"
"Oh, well shit. I feel like a loser. I'll be right there then."
That was the complete ridicule that everyone expected from Nico. He didn't mean it exactly as it came out, he was just brutally honest with his feelings. Percy just took it and went with the flow and accepted it. There was nothing wrong with being passive, except when you let people step on you like a doormat. He was the happy medium of passive aggressive. By the time his whole thought process finished, he was sitting in front of Nico's house, waiting for the pale boy to walk out. Within the next few minutes, Nico stormed across the front lawn and seemed to calm as soon as Percy was in his sights. The boy's eyes were mesmerizing. They changed into differentiated shades of green depending on his mood at the moment. For instance, yesterday his eyes were more the color of the calm seas after a storm had passed. Nico honestly didn't want to see him at his angriest. For now, they were the color of emerald jewels, shining as bright as the sun itself. Nico hopped up into the truck and then they were finally on their way to the park.
The sun decided to shine brightly and look down upon them with a smile when they arrived at the park.
"Thank the Gods." Perseus said aloud, confusing the pale boy. "Thank the Gods? What religion are you?" "Well I suppose we believe in Greek Mythology since it explains all that happens. Plus, they don't have all the sayings of we are all family. I mean, the demigods are all distant cousins and some can be brothers/sisters, so yeah."
"Oh, Okay. I was just wondering since I've never heard that before. Personally, I'm not into religion." Nico said as Percy started setting out the blanket so he wouldn't get hives from the grass.
"Like, I can't believe that there's a higher power that just let's illness and rape happen. But, then again, I could believe that they would allow that. I don't know. Let's just get away from that weird subject. What sports are you planning on doing this year?"
"Well, I was going to be doing swimming again this year, but I don't know. I only like swimming freestyle and not the competitiveness. Is that weird?"
"No, it's quite understandable. I quite gymnastics because my parents thought I should be more competitive. It was just a passivity anyway."
"Oh, you did gymnastics? I didn't know that. What level?"
"Well, I was in Optional, so I think level eight?"
"Why don't you join the gymnastics team this year then? I'm sure you could just do it to pass the time at least, and if you happen to like it, then it'll be a plus." Percy just smiled and Nico couldn't help but smile back. His smiles were too contagious.
"Sure, why not? It's not like it's going to hurt anything right?" "
Right." Perseus answered. The conversation just carried along from there for the next hour as it became colder and darker from the clouds covering the sun. They increasingly scooted closer to the other for warmth for the duration of their conversation, till. . .
"Hey Nico, so I was just wondering about that kiss two days ago, it was-"
"Oh, hahaha yeah, that. In Italy, we kiss one another on the cheek to say goodbye and since I was there for spring break last year, I guess I got used to it."
Fuck yeah, that was the best cover up he has ever done.
"Ah. Okay. I was just kinda guessing that's what it was. Thanks for clearing that up for me." The Sea Prince's heart just cracked a little as he heard the reasoning. He was just about to confess that he wouldn't mind doing that more often with a deeper meaning, and on the lips. Not everything could go his way. But, he supposed he would just have to wait longer to let Nico's feelings hopefully become more than just the friendship type. The "meeting" continued in a friendly manner as they continued to eat. Dinosaur shaped, peanut butter, Nutella, and marshmallow sandwiches were Percy's favorite. Naturally, he just added them to the menu and tried to get the Nutella off the roof of his mouth when the first raindrop landed on top of his nose. After the first, it started pouring like Niagara falls over their picnic setting. Quickly, they gathered up all the belongings and ran off towards the truck.
The ride to Nico's house filled with Neon Trees "Sleeping with a Friend" and more, that made an awkward environment for both boys. At last, Percy pulled up into the driveway and grabbed for his umbrella so he could walk the Ghost Prince to his front door. To make the story real, and he wanted do it, Nico got on his tiptoes, put his hands on both of Percy's shoulders, and kissed him on both his cheeks. It cause them to blush brightly out of embarrassment. They parted ways, waved goodbye, and let their imagination run wild for the rest of the night.
So, I hope ya'll like the new chapter. It was quite fun to write actually. As for how I'm doing is Okay. To answer NICO IS GAY's review, the mental hospital is just like summer camp. You get to do yoga and go to eat in a different building which were both privileges, yet you get a set schedule each day. I got quiet but pretty cool roommates and read books a lot while I was in there. Some downsides were that the showers were gross, you had to ask to use the restroom ALL THE TIME, Psych 101 was the same thing every weekday, and some of the people were a little too much to handle. But, as for now, I am trying to take care of a new puppy I got and do home hospital for school since my diagnosis won't allow me to go to school. It's just where I get to take the same classes, it's just that I'm at home and get homework done here. No stressful environments for me. I like being able to hang out and watch Hetalia and such, but it's also a responsibility to get everything done first. Thank you all though for the support and love that you sent me in reviews! It was really helpful and uplifting to my mood each day. Hopefully, I will be able to get the next chapter much sooner to you all. Have a nice day or night, depending on your time-zone.
