A/N: Hey guys, is anyone here? I'm so sorry I haven't updated this story for... well ages. I don't have an excuse... Just life and inspiration problems... So, here is the new and last chapter of this story.
No, this is not what it was supposed to happen. He had everything organized. He had talked with Abby and Kane you give him their approval, he had talked with Wells to help with different things, hell he had even asked with Raven about some other staff.
He should have known better that after so many pain he had caused to so many people, life would get him back and the world wouldn't let him have this one.
It was just a picnic. He just wanted that. To go out with Clarke and have some fun under the tress. He wanted them to sleep under the starts too but Abby cut him off before he could even finish his sentence. Little did all knew that they wouldn't even make it till noon when they were supposed to come back.
Grounder. He came out of nowhere. Holding a knife. Bellamy and Clarke automatically jumped up from where they were lying and laughing when they saw him. Bellamy instantly pushed Clarke behind him and he could fill her fists grabbing the back of his shirt in worry. But this wasn't supposed to happen today so he didn't have any weapons with him and the grounders didn't look like he would leave them to just walk away.
The grounders took some steps closer to them while Bellamy was pushing Clarke backwards and away from him, please just go, I have this under control. But Clarke shook her head and tightened her grip on his shirt.
The only weapon the grounder had was a small dagger, finding each other wasn't nor Bellamy's neither the grounder's plan. But as Lincoln told him, a true warrior never backs from a fight. He knew he had to fight him.
Bellamy took a few punches from the grounders before he could disarm him and pin him down on the ground. He didn't see the grounders taking a second knife from a hidden spot as he was choking him with his own hands. He only felt the pain in his stomach when the blade was all inside his body. The pain was unbearable but he kept his hands around the grounders neck till his hands fall limp between them and saw the light leave his eyes.
As soon as Bellamy let go of the dead grounder, Clarke ran from where the must have been watching and knells next to them. She cups his face with one hand and pull him towards her as he still was sitting on a dead body. Their bodies were touching and Bellamy was breathing heavily, eyes firmly closed. A moment later he felt Clarke pulling back and he reopened his eyes, finding her staring down with eyes wide one.
After that everything was a little bit blurry. He remember Clarke pushing him against a tree, and putting pressure on his wound, he remembers telling her that everything will be okay and to stop crying because he will be fine. He remembers hating himself for being the reason she is so worried, scared and can't stop crying. He also remembers her pushing him up and holding him there. He doesn't quit remember walking back home and he definitely doesn't remember getting in medical.
But here he is, felling like shit even before he opens his eyes. Bellamy slowly opens his eyes and finds himself staring at the medical ceiling. He wasn't as confused as believed he would because logic filled the lost parts of his story. All that matters is that he is back in Arkadia and that mean Clarke is back in Arkadia too.
He sighs at the fact that they back to safety. He doesn't even want to imagine Clarke getting hurt and him not able to do anything because he is hurt himself too.
From the corner of his eyes he sees someone standing up next to him and he turns his gaze to that person.
Of course it was Clarke. There, standing by his side, eyes tired and red probably for crying. Crying for him. A small wave of self hate washes over him at the thought of Clarke crying because of him but he quickly gets over it so he can take Clarke in.
He says a small "Hey." and gives her an equally small smile.
Clarke smiles back, squeezing her eyes shut for a moment before bringing a hand up and stroke some hair on his forehead. Hi.
They stare at each other, just like that for a minute or two before Bellamy uncovers one of his hands and take Clarke's in his. "Are you okay?" he asks and studies Clarke's eyes as she reads his lips.
Clarke nods with another tiny and maybe sad smile, giving his hand a tight squeeze. She swallows and Bellamy is quick to wipe with his other hand the lonely tear that rolls down her cheek.
"Hey, it's okay." he whispers, tears threatening to escape his own eyes now. With the same hand he cups the side of her face, stroking her soft skin with his rough fingers.
Clarke closes her eyes and presses herself to his touch, her own hand come up to hold on his wrist. Bellamy watches as she buries her fingers between his palm and her cheek only to intertwine their fingers. Their hands fall on Bellamy's rasing and falling chest and Clarke seems like can't take her eyes from their holding hand.
Without letting go of him, Bellamy watches as Clarke reaches with the other hand on the table next to his bed and grabs on a note book. She places it on her lap where Bellamy can't see it and grabs on a charcoal piece to write something.
A moment later she holds the notebook up with three fingers while the other two hold on the piece of charcoal. Bellamy ignores the small doodle of him sleeping on the corner of the pace and his search for her message.
'I was so scared... Don't even do that again!'
Bellamy chokes a laugh because he knows he can't make that promise. And that even if he does promise her that, he knows he won't be able to keep it. But he understands because he feels the same way for Octavia and Clarke. He is scared of them getting hurt too. He can't fight it anymore.
Bellamy gives their hands a squeeze and turns his gaze from the paper to Clarke. "I'm sorry for scaring you." he says slowly for both himself and Clarke. "And I'm sorry for putting your life in danger." he adds, now not be able to look at Clarke.
She shakes her head, letting the note book fall on her lap again and quickly write something.
Bringing it up Bellamy reads 'It wasn't your fault.' and smiles, now him being the one to shake his head. But he chooses to not continue arguing on that. He is too tired for it.
"That your first time outside the camp, wasn't it?" he asks instead, changing the subject.
Clarke nods with a not-so sad smile.
"I bet after this, you won't want to get outside again." he jokes but deep inside him he knows it's true. It is hard for him to not be scared while outside the safe walls of Arkadia, he can't imagine how Clarke feels about it.
But to his surprise Clarke shakes her head and write something down.
'Only if I'm with you. I'm not afraid if I'm with you.'
Bellamy really doesn't know what to say to that. She caught him of guards. Again. And he doesn't know what he did to have a girl like Clarke by his side anyway. She believes so much and with all her heart in him. She trusts him and wants to be by his side even though she knows all the horrible things he did till now. He feels like he doesn't deserve her at all. She deserves someone pure and whole like her. Not someone broken and dirty as him. It's a thought that crosses his mind every damn day.
He shakes himself off his thoughts, knowing that Clarke is waiting for an answer or anything. But before he can say anything he hears Clarke say…
"I love you."
Bellamy stills. His heart stopped and he believed his can't feel anything but her hand in his.
She spoke. She spoke and her voice is so sweet as he imagined it so many times. And she never spoke before to him or anyone else and the first words she said was that she loves him and it's already too much. He knows he is crying, his vision is blurred from tears, tears he could hold back and without thinking he finally does what he wanted to do in the woods some hours before.
He frees his hand from his and pushes himself a little bit further up. He ignores the shooting pain and Clarke's mixed with worry and confusion face and start. Move after move, wave after wave as Wells taught him. Only to say…
I love you.
Clarke blinks her eyes. Still and surprised and confused and happy. It takes her a moment but when she gets over the shock, she throws herself forwards, arms coming around Bellamy's neck and presses her face in his shoulder, hugging his so tight it feels like Bellamy is going to break. His arms are around her too without having to think about it and he kisses the side of her hair.
She is crying too, he can feel the tears rolling down the bare skin of his shoulder and collar done. And he knows are tears of joy and happiness because he has the same tears on his face too and it is honestly too much for both of them.
He doesn't know for how long they hold each other but he won't be the first to let go. So he let Clarke stay in his arms as long as she wants and need.
And when she pushes herself back, he doesn't have time to do anything but welcome Clarke's lips on his. Their taste and their warmth. Her taste and warmth. And when she kisses him harder, he returns the kiss equally hard and passionate. And god, how much addicted he already is to her lips. The lips he so many times saw curling up to a smile. The lips he so many times caught himself staring at. The lips he always wanted to know how they taste. And now she does. He knows how they taste and it's a flavor he knows he is already addicted.
They break the kiss to let some air in their lunges and Clarke leans her forehead to his, biting her lips with eyes shut and the biggest of all smile he ever saw wearing since they met.
When they caught their breath, Clarke opens her eyes and meets his. He is smiling and his cheeks hurt for smile for so long but he doesn't care. He doesn't control it either. He is happy and he will smile as much and for as long as he wants. Right now, with Clarke in his arms, he doesn't give a fuck about the world and its wants. This moment he lives it for himself and Clarke, no one else and for nothing else. Only the two of them.
But he should have known that the moment wouldn't hold for too long. Before he can capture Clarke's lips in his again, the door behind them opens and Bellamy snaps his head to the cracking sound the door makes as it opens.
Clarke quickly follow his eyes and they both stare at Octavia who is frozen on the door, staring back at them. Bellamy feels the heat rising on his cheeks from embarrassment. That's a way for Octavia to find out, he thinks and feels Clarke pushing herself off his arms, eyes locked to Clarke.
He let go of her even though he misses her warmth already and he turns his attention back to his sister.
"Hey O." he says with a smile, not knowing what else to say.
"I see you were both too busy to come and tell me that my brother is finally awake huh?" she teases, stepping inside the room and walking towards Bellamy's bed.
Bellamy smiles, "Sorry, O." he starts, "We were caught off guard with… this too." he laughs, one arm reaching around Clarke's middle, getting a shy smile from her.
Octavia nods, giving a knowing look to her brother, "I believe you, big brother." she pauses, "And I forgive you this first time." she adds, "At least you were in good hands." she glances to Clarke and the blonde doesn't really know what to do to hide her embarrassment. Bellamy is her bother after all.
"Okay, I will leave you too alone then." Octavia says when nor Bellamy neither Clarke say anything. She takes a step towards the door when Clarke reaches for her hand to stop her. Octavia turns to her friend with confusion.
Clarke let go of Octavia's hand and quickly grabs on the note book that fell on the floor. She brings it up to the bedside table and writes something. Then she holds it up for Octavia to read it.
'Please, can you tell my mom to come and check on him?'
Both Bellamy and Octavia read the message and before Octavia can agree, Bellamy takes the note book and charcoal from Clarke's hand and writes something down himself.
'In 10 minutes…'
Octavia reads it and laugh while Clarke wants to hide somewhere and never come out again.
"Okay big brother. I give you 10 minutes." Octavia agrees, "But Clarke is right, Abby should have a look on your wound soon."
"I know. I just want 10 more minutes…" he explains, tightening his hold around Clarke.
"And you have them so use them wisely." she teases, walking outside the room without saying anything else.
A moment later, Clarke turns back to Bellamy, looking at his silly. "You heard my sister." he says and Clarke reads his lips, "We only have 10 minutes." and with that, Clarke leans down and kisses him, this time slowly and teasingly.
Fifteen minutes later, Abby walks on them kissing too. Thankfully she doesn't say anything. She sees Bellamy's wound, she ensures them that everything will heal fine and walks out again.
(Abby gives him the talk two days later.)
