Lani had to wait until Ryuzaki finished testing Moriko and told her of the situation she was in. To say the very least, her sister was shaken by the news. She quickly excused herself to her provided room, most likely to try and sleep off her anxiety. After she left, with quick reassurance from Ryuzaki that her sister would either be escorted home or get her own room, they got down to business.

"So, Ryuzaki, am I ever going to get that address?" Inquiring eyes focused on the aforementioned man when Lani asked her question.

"First we will need permission from Mr. Yagami," he replied, pressing his thumb to his mouth. "Also, a plausible excuse as to why she's there is essential in case she is questioned."

"Couldn't you say that you were left in charge of her for the weekend and you needed someone to watch her?" Matsuda inputted.

"I said a plausible excuse, Matsuda."

Lani plucked a cupcake out of the array of sweets, not caring about the sugar rush she would get later. She found the men's bickering and brainstorming amusing for the first five minutes, but quickly lost interest when Mr. Yagami brought up the idea of Lani posing as a homeless child. She inched away from the conversation towards the old man-Lani believe he was called Watari.

"Hey, Gramps, I'm going out to get some food. Tell 'em that I'll be back in a few," Lani said before bolting out of the hotel room. She snickered at the muffled shouts and suspicious thumps that came from the room, undoubtedly were the men scrambling over one another to try and catch Lani.

Pressing the down button, she didn't have to wait long before the metallic doors slid open. She walked into the empty elevator that was playing some outdated music and unwrapped the cupcake and took a bite.

Maybe she should have been worried about the consequences of her actions; without a doubt, Ryuzaki would likely inform her sister of the careless actions she took, but she just couldn't bring herself to care as the men from the police force tried to squeeze out the door at the same time to get to her. Lani saw them tumble out in a jumbled heap before the elevator doors slid shut.

"You can't ground me!" was the first thing Moriko heard as she woke up. Groggily pulling herself from the warm, comfortable bed, she stumbled out of her given room to see what all the commotion was about.

"Perhaps not, but your sister certainly has jurisdiction over you."

"Shut it, Owl Man! I was hungry and the only thing you had to eat was candy and sweets! I wanted ravioli!"

"You could have just asked Watari. He is quite the chef."

"How was I supposed to know that?!" The bickering came to an abrupt halt as Moriko finally decided to show herself, all traces of sleepiness gone. Her eyes scanned over the situation.

Lani held the front of Ryuzaki's shirt in a death-grip, the latter sitting in his peculiar position. Lani looked furious and ready to commit genocide, the exact opposite of her possible victim. His expression was calm, even though her sister's fist was mere centimeters from breaking his nose. "Ah, perfect timing, Miss Moriko. Would you please remove your sister before she punches me in the face?"

Moriko was speechless, to say the least. Not so much after she pried Lani off of Ryuzaki (an hour-long lecture ensued), or when she grounded Lani for wandering off ("I should never have left you alone"), or when she grounded herself ("What was I thinking? Such irresponsibility"), but before she processed what was going on and afterward, she was quiet.

"I'm going to go lay down for a while," she informed the duo before promptly passing out. The task force entered not too long after.

"Why is Moriko-san on the ground?" Lani groaned at Matsuda's question.

"It's a long story. Not important as to why, but do you think you could move my sister to her bed? Don't tell her I said this, but she weighs a ton." Matsuda only nodded before moving to pick the young woman up.

Lani was tempted to yell "And don't try anything funny!" but chances were that she'd wake her sister up, and no matter how hilarious it would be to see Matsuda staring back at her with a scandalized look on his face, she didn't was to suffer through her sister's rage a second time that day. She might have been brasher than your usual 11-year-old, but she didn't lack a sense of self-preservation, contrary to what her family believes.

After Matsuda closed her sister's door, she sat on an expensive-looking armchair and stared down the task force. "So, what did you come up with as an excuse?"

"I suggested you act like you're lost. Go up to the house and ask if you could use their phone."

"Do I look like the kind of person who'd admit to being lost?"

"I was thinking you could say that someone was following you and you needed help."

"Quit it with the scaredy-cat scenarios!"

"..."

"Well, Mogi, what's your idea?"

"...You could pretend to have sprained your ankle and ask for help."

"...Well, at least it isn't a scaredy-cat one. Still, it sucks!"

Watari entered the room to find the Aizawa and Lani arguing about how they should do things. Chief Soichiro and Mogi were trying to get the irate man to calm down while Matsuda and Ukita teamed up in an effort to restrain Lani without hurting her. Ryuzaki watched the spectacle unfold. "Gentleman and Miss Lani, if I may input my own idea, why not have her go to the Yagami household for tutoring?"

Soichiro pondered the idea. "Light already helps out Sayu with her homework, so something like this shouldn't be too out of the ordinary for him."

"Yes, I agree," Ryuzaki said, stirring some tea into his sugar. "Miss Lani mentioned that her mathematics skills were abysmal when I interviewed her, so she goes to Chief's house as the daughter of a co-worker." He looked up from his cup of diabetes, staring straight into Lani's eyes. "It's a double win for you, Miss Lani. Perhaps your grades will improve while working with Light."

She scowled at the childish man. "Shut up," snapped the livid girl.

"It's settled then," Soichiro interrupted before the two could engage in a fight. "Lani will come over for tutoring from Light. When should we do this?"

"Tomorrow!" The men in the room were surprised by the amount of conviction in her voice. "What are you all looking at me like that for?"

"Wouldn't you say that doing it tomorrow is a tad unreasonable?"

Well, I certainly can't do it tonight. It's taco night tonight," she defended.

Ryuzaki sighed, woefully thinking this is the hope for ending Kira's onslaught. It will be a miracle if we succeed. But, on the chance that we fail...

He calculated with 100% certainty that Light Yagami would kill Lani Quinn.
