What's up, guys? Time to meet yet another character! Yay!

(Arc: The Crystal's Will)

(Chapter 2: Brothers)

"You must know your meeting with the crystal was not happenstance. You have been chosen."

I heard these words said through the door. They were said by my adoptive father, Topapa, telling my brother about what had happened while he had been gone. I hadn't yet found out where he had been, only that there had been a crystal that supposedly talked and told my brother that it was his destiny to save the world. I thought back through my extensive knowledge of every book in town, as I have read each of them at least twice.

Who am I? Arc. The less known brother. The forgotten one. Did that bother me? No. I was okay with being second best. After all, the only thing I was good for was reading, and I highly doubted that would ever be of use. But this was annoying me. Brother had sneaked out against our fathers will, and he was being rewarded for it. I walked out of our house as father continued telling Luneth of his newfound destiny.

I slowly walked over to the lake behind the weapons shop, wanting only to think. But a voice appeared in my head, telling me I had a mission: go to Kazus. Not sure if I had just gone flat-out crazy or not, I listened again. There it was, telling me again to go to Kazus. Any inhibitions I had instantly washed away. The voice was so lovely. A beautiful woman's voice, smooth as silk. Smiling a little, I stood up, when reality crashed down. Kazus. The haunted town, where no one returned from.

I shook my head. I was being silly. "Ghosts don't exist," I said out loud.

"Is that so?" A voice called from behind me.

Shit, I thought. Why now of all times? Do the Gods hate me?

A strong hand gripped my shoulder and whipped me around so I was looking ugly square in the face. Kai, a brutal sixteen year old, and his gang, who seemed to love playing Get Arc. He smiled a toothy grin, and the stench nearly knocked me out.

"Ghosts don't exist, huh? What about that haunted town?" he asked. "You know, that place the messenger never returned from?"

"He obviously just got attacked by monsters by surprise," I said, trying to sound as logical as I could, which was hard to do when your feet are dangling three inches off the ground.

"Heh, you keep telling yourself that. Ghosts don't exist? Then go to Kazus and prove it!"

"Oi, ugly," a familiar voice said from behind Kai. "Put down my brother if you wish to live."

Luneth. Coming to my rescue once again. I appreciated it a lot, but it was still embarrassing that I had to be saved by my brother, even at fourteen years old.

"Okay, okay, sheesh," Kai said, throwing me down hard. "I was just having fun."

Kai knew better than to mess with Luneth, ever since Luneth nearly drowned him when he wouldn't stop picking on me.

Kai and his gang sulked off, leaving only me and my brother.

"Arc, you okay?" Luneth asked, sounding worried. Of course he was worried. All I ever did was burden him. But no more.

Standing up, and ran past Luneth, who I could hear calling after me. Tears stung at my eyes, but I would not let him or anyone else see my weakness. No more. I would go to Kazus, and I would prove myself. Without even looking back, I ran out of the city, saying to myself, "I'm not a weakling. But I have to get stronger… I'll show Luneth!" And with that, I ran out of the city, not knowing that I was going to do a lot more that show I could handle a few goblins.

Hey guys, sorry for the wait, but here it is! Next chapter is Refias first contact with the brothers! Also, there are a few things I should clear up first: The narration will be told in a cycling manner, going Luneth, Arc, Refia, Ingus, Luneth, Arc, etc. Also, for those of you who are upset for me not telling what the characters look like, there is a very logical explanation for it, and it goes like- SQUIRREL!
