Chapter 4: Ladies of the night

That night, Charlie said good night to the guys. Carbine and Harley had volunteered to stay behind with her and have a peaceful girls night in. They didn't want anything to do with destruction, chaos, or the males in their lives that enjoyed created all sorts of mayhem for Limburger and his crew for one night.

Charlie came up with a major relaxation plan for them for the night. She dug into her cabinet and pulled out several small bottles of wine that she had been saving for a night like tonight. She also pulled out a couple of mismatched wine glasses. She figured some fun taste-testing was in order and way past the expiration date for all of them.

She also figured that they could hole up in the kitchen for part of the evening and see what kind of interesting desserts that they could come up with for each other to try. Besides, what could go wrong with drinking lots of wine and making your own desserts. She also figured that she could drag out her chocolate fondue pot and see what all they could dunk into melted chocolate, which included and not limited to strawberries, marshmallows, and pretzels.

If you really want to know
What I want in a guy...
Well, I'm lookin' for a dream on a mean machine
With hell in his eyes.
I want a devil in skin tight leather,
And he's gonna be wild as the wind.
And one fine night, I'll be holdin' on tight...

Harley also suggested that they get all dolled up and take pictures of each other to show off to the guys just for the fun of it and a new form of torture for them to put the boys through. No sooner than Harley mentioned it, Charlie drug out her large Velcro rollers and hairspray.

She also figured on them having a spa time, complete with the sliced cucumbers over the eyes, a full on nail painting, calming music, bubble baths, and face masks. Because even they sometimes needed to rejuvenate and restart their whole mental and physical being.

Carbine also suggested that after that, then they should pop loads of pop corn and put in a good chick flick to watch. James Bond could only do so much for them and they wanted to enjoy their time as girls. Harley drug out a ton of pillows and blankets from Charlie's upstairs linen closet and tossed them onto the floor.

They all agreed to order something to eat from one of the local restaurants and have one of the guys actually deliver it. Charlie suggested that they order from Ruby Tuesday and just get the appetizers so they could share and taste everything.

To a coooool rider, a coooool rider.
If he's cool enough,
He can burn me through and through.
Whhoa ohhhh
If it takes forever,
Then I'll wait forever.
No ordinary boy,
No ordinary boy is gonna do.
I want a rider that's cool

Charlie called up the restaurant and ordered one of each appetizer; crispy chicken bites and wings with hickory bourbon sauce, shrimp fondue which is a blend of spicy shrimp, cheese, and fresh pico de gallo along with tortilla chips, spinach artichoke dip which was made with tender artichoke hearts and creamy Parmesan cheese, tempura green beans, the beans were battered in beer and fried golden brown and served with a Thai dipping sauce, Thai spring rolls which are crisp rolls filled with tender chicken, water chestnuts, and noodles, Thai Phoon shrimp which is a generous portion of tender, crispy popcorn shrimp tossed in a sweet and spicy chile sauce and garnished with scallions, Philly Cheese-steak pot-stickers which were fresh from the grill. These pot-stickers have everything to love about a Philly cheese-steak sandwich in a convenient, bite-size pot-sticker and they came with crispy onions and fresh scallions in warm au jus, and lastly she ordered an Italian Five-Cheese Skillet which was a blend melted cheeses baked-to-order in a skillet with tomato basil sauce and topped with house-made Parmesan crumbs and served with Parmesan flatbread.

Carbine gave a grand order to Modo to go and pick up their food order and make sure to deliver it to the garage immediately. No stops and no excuses. Of course, Vinnie could be heard in Charlie had used her debit card over the phone so there would not have to be an exchange of cash or anything else that might possibly confuse any one of the guys. She knew that order was going to be more expensive than what she would normally do but, she actually had a surprise cushion in her bank account saved up for special occasions like this evening.

That's the way it's gonna be,
And that's the way that I feel.
I want a whole lot more than the boy next door,
I want hell on wheels.
Just give me a fine motorcycle,
With a man rollin' out of the seat.
And move aside, cause I'm gonna ride...

Modo arrived about forty-five minutes later and the three of them already had rollers in their hair and mud masks on their face. They nearly scared the fur of of him when they answered the door. After he handed the three bags of appetizers over, they quickly shut the door in his face and all he could hear was them giggling like a bunch of school girls.

Modo shook his head in disbelief. He had never seen all three of them alone in the same space together and he wasn't too sure if he ever wanted to again. They didn't seem the least bit concerned about what his thoughts of their crazy appearance were and he was beginning to think that this was exactly what the girls needed. Time away from the males and a space that was all their own, even if it was for just one night. Tomorrow would be a whole different situation and hopefully they would at least get some sleep or else it was going to be a long day for all of them.

"Thanks Big Fella!" Charlie loudly called out from behind the door as she locked it up for the rest of night, giving him the signal that they were not to be disturbed until morning.

"Awesome. Food" Carbine gleefully said as she downed her third glass of wine and started to feel a little giddy. She was starving for some Earth good and good company. It was something that she would never admit to but, she really missed having female company around. She had spent so much time being a General that she gave little thought to just being Carbine, a female mouse who felt lonely among the large ranks of males.

To a coooool rider, a coooool rider.
If he's cool enough,
He can burn me through and through.
Whhoa ohhhh
If it takes forever,
Then I'll wait forever.

"Oh yeah. I'm starving" Harley squealed with delight as she went to the kitchen to grab a few plates and some silverware. She could tell by looking at Carbine that she was finally starting to relax after a long and stressful day attacking Limburger with the three crazy mouse scouts.

Ever since her accident on Mars that injured her face, Harley had felt torn between her love for Vinnie and her loyalty to those that had rescued her. It wasn't until after Charlie went looking for her the last time she was on Mars, that she realized how wrong she had been to believe that Vinnie had abandoned her.

She had been living as a hermit near the mountain when Charlie happened upon her and she just sat there and spoke with her as though they were old friends. Harley cried her heart out as she threw her arms around Charlie when she informed her about how much Vinnie wanted to see her and that he still dreamed about her because, Charlie heard him call out her name while he was taking a nap at the garage. It wasn't just once...it was many times.

No ordinary boy,
No ordinary boy is gonna do.
I want a rider that's cool.

Harley road back with Charlie to the city and spent some time trying to get her head back on straight. And Vinnie was there every step of the way. He held her hand when she needed reassurance. Pulled her onto his lap when she needed a shoulder to cry on. And passionately kissed her when she needed to feel the strength of his love. There were even nights when he just slept on the couch because, she needed to know that she was safe.

From that point on, Harley was eternally grateful to Charlie for taking time out from everything that was going on in her life to make time to find a way to reach her heart, that she had thought was frozen a long time ago. She now knew where to point the blame at and it wasn't where she had been told. It was directly on Mace, the rat who costumed and paraded himself around as a mouse.

Carbine looked over at Harley who was smiling at Charlie. It made her heart swell with amazement. Charlie didn't have to go out of her way to rescue Harley from her self-imposed mental and physical prison, but she did. Charlie didn't owe Harley anything but, she felt as though she owed it to Vinnie for all the times he saved her and Carbine couldn't argue with that logic...even if she wanted to.

That's the way it's gonna be,
And that's the way that I feel.
I want a whole lot more than the boy next door,
I want hell on wheels.
Just give me a fine motorcycle,
With a man growin' out of the seat.
And move aside, cause I'm gonna ride..

All three of them made their move to the kitchen and drug out all the food, lifting the lids as they went and placing the opened dishes onto the counter top. It was Charlie's idea to make it more of a buffet so they could pick and choose what they wanted to enjoy at that moment along with their multiple glasses of wine. The three of them chuckled once they realized that they were not going to be worth a damn in the morning because of sleep deprivation but, to them, it was all going to worth it.

After each of them got a plate, they sat down on the super padded and fluffy living room floor, put a movie on. Charlie convinced them that they should watch "Light in the Piazza" which came out in 1962. It may have been an older movie but, it was a beautiful classic.

It was about a mother, Meg, and her daughter, Clara, taking a summer holiday in Florence. Both of them were Americans. Clara meets and falls in love with a young Italian named Fabrizio Naccarelli, played by George Hamilton. Fabrizio is blinded by his love for Clara and believes her mental disability to be simple naivety. Meg tries to explain her daughter's condition to Fabrizio's father but the opportunity never seems to be right. Fabrizio's family are so taken with Clara and her simple remarks are taken as evidence of her innocence.

Meg spends the remainder of the trip trying to keep the two lovers apart and fearing that Fabrizio or his family will discover the truth about her daughter.

To a coooool rider, a coooool rider.
If he's cool enough,
He can burn me through and through.
Whhoa ohhhh
If it takes forever,
Then I'll wait forever.
No ordinary boy,

I want a rider that's cool.

She moves their holiday quickly to Rome in the hopes that Clara will soon forget Fabrizio. On discovering how unhappy this has made Clara, she calls her advertising executive husband, Noel, and asks him to fly to Rome to meet them. The couple discuss their daughter's future, and Noel reminds her that Clara's previous suitors have been repulsed as soon as they discover she is mentally disabled. He also reveals that he has made plans for Clara to be placed in an expensive care home for the mentally disabled. Meg is set against what she sees as the incarceration of her daughter for the rest of her life. The couple argue, and Noel returns to America.

Meg realizes that Clara will have a much better life as a wealthy Italian wife with servants and inane gossip to entertain her than in such a home. She returns to Florence and does everything she can to expedite the marriage without her husband's knowledge. Fabrizio and Clara are overjoyed and plans are made for the wedding. Clara begins religious conversion to become a Roman Catholic and the priest instructing her is impressed with her childlike devotion to the Madonna. This, together with the Naccarelli family's connections in the Catholic Church, allows the wedding date to be brought forward.

When Fabrizio's father glances at Clara's passport as they settle the wedding arrangements, he is suddenly alarmed and flees the church without explanation, taking Fabrizio with him. Meg fears he has somehow deduced Clara's mental age and does not want his son to marry such a person. Eventually, Signor Naccarelli visits Meg at her hotel and says she should have told him that Clara is 26. In Italian culture a young man of 20 cannot marry an older woman without controversy. He tells his son of the age difference but Fabrizio reminds his father that his age is actually 23 and that he so loves Clara that he cares nothing for this slight difference. The situation is quickly resolved in Signor Naccarelli's eyes when Clara's dowry is increased from $5,000 to $15,000.

The wedding takes place in a church in Florence without Noel's presence.

I don't want no ordinary guys,
Comin' on strong to me.
They don't know what I'm lookin' for,
They don't know what I need.
They're gonna know when he gets here,
Cause the crowd will be shakin'.
I'll do anything to let him know,
That I'm his, his for the takin'.

It was almost midnight when the movie finished up and they had made several trips to the kitchen for more food. They also took a break to wash t he mud masks off of their faces and removed the rollers from their hair, creating full, voluminous curls on top of their heads. Harley picked out the next movie "The Taming of the Shrew" which was another old movie with a stellar cast, starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton.

The girls filed and painted their fingers and toenails while they watched and laughed their butts off as Baptista Minola attempted to marry off his two daughters; however, there was a little snag in his plans. He would only marry off his youngest, Bianca, only if someone would marry his eldest Katharina. Katharina is an ill-tempered, shrewish woman but, when a lusty young nobleman, Petruchio, takes up the challenge of taming and marrying her, all hell breaks loose. There was also a subplot involving the wooing of Bianca by several suitors including handsome Lucentio, foppish Hotensio, and an elderly man named Gremio.

By the time that movie finished up, it was almost two in the morning and they still had too much energy left to burn, even with a couple more glasses of wine in their systems. It had been so long since they had this special kind of freedom that they were going to relish every moment of it. They questioned as to whether or not the guys would actually spy on them because, they were not part of the entertainment. But, at this point, they could of cared less.

As promised to each other for tonight's fun activity, Charley drug out her camera and they each took turns with some sexy albeit drunken poses of each other. They even went so far as to strip down to their bra and panties. They laughed as they did some group pictures and attempted to hold each other up or one would lean against the other one. At one point, they were so caught up that Charlie's wig fell off but, Harley and Carbine didn't mind because they already knew the truth and helped her get it back on so the guys wouldn't see.

After spending over an hour taking pictures that Charlie would get developed later, it was now Carbine's turn to pick out a movie. She ended up choosing "Grease 2", a musical romantic comedy. She was too tired to go looking for the first one and she did really enjoy the second one almost as much as the first.

I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
I want a C-O-O-L are-I-D-E-are.
I need a C-O-O-L are-I-D-E-are.

It takes place in the year 1961, two years after the original Grease ended. The first day of school had finally arrived and the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies dance and sing as they enter the high school. The Pink Ladies are now led by Stephanie Zinone, who feels as though she has "outgrown" her relationship with her ex-boyfriend Johnny Nogerelli, an arrogant and rather immature new leader of the T-Birds.

A new arrival comes in the form of clean-cut English student Michael Carrington. He is welcomed and introduced to the school atmosphere by Frenchy, who was asked by Sandy, his cousin, to help show Michael around. Frenchy reveals she has returned to Rydell to get her high school diploma so she can start her own cosmetics company. Michael eventually meets Stephanie and quickly becomes smitten with her.

At the local bowling alley, a game turns sour due to the animosity between Johnny and Stephanie. Stephanie retaliates by kissing the next man who walks in the door, who happens to be Michael. Bemused by this unexpected kiss, Michael asks her out, but he learns that she has a very specific vision of her ideal man. As he realizes that he will only win her affection if he turns himself into a cool rider, Michael accepts payment from the T-Birds to write term papers for them; he uses the cash to buy a motorcycle.

Following an unusual biology lesson given by Mr. Stuart, a substitute teacher, a gang of rival motorcyclists called the Cycle Lords led by Leo Balmudo, surprise the T-Birds at the bowling alley. Before the fight starts, a lone mysterious biker appears, defeats the enemy gang and disappears into the night. Stephanie is fascinated with the stranger. Meanwhile, Louis, one of the T-Birds, attempts to trick his sweetheart Sharon, one of the Pink Ladies and Stephanie's friends into losing her virginity to him by taking her to a fallout shelter and faking a nuclear attack.

I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
I want a coooooool rider,
A cool, cool, cool, cool rider.
I want a C-O-O-L are-I-D-E-are.

The next evening while working at a gas station/garage, Stephanie is surprised again by the Cool Rider, and they enjoy a romantic twilight motorcycle ride. Just as Michael is about to reveal his identity, they are interrupted by the arrival of the T-Birds and Pink Ladies. Before Michael leaves, he tells Stephanie that he will see her at the school talent show, in which the Pink Ladies and T-Birds are performing. Johnny, enraged by Stephanie's new romance, threatens to fight the Cool Rider if he sees him with her again. The Pink Ladies walk away haughtily, but this has little effect on the T-Birds' self-confidence.

At school, Stephanie's poor grades in English lead her to accept Michael's offer of help. Johnny, upon seeing them together in a discussion, demands that Stephanie quit the Pink Ladies to preserve his honor. Although still enamored with the Cool Rider, interactions with Michael reveal that she has become romantically interested in him as well. Michael ponders over his continuing charade he puts on for Stephanie.

At the talent show, Stephanie and the Cool Rider meet but are ambushed by the T-Birds who pursue Michael on their respective motorcycles, with Stephanie and the Pink Ladies following in a car. They chase him to a construction site which conceals a deadly drop, and the biker's absence suggests that he has perished below, leaving Stephanie heartbroken and inconsolable. Johnny and his T-Birds remove the competing Preptones - preppie boys - by tying them to a shower pole in the boys' locker room and drenching them. During the Pink Ladies' performance in the talent show, Stephanie enters a dreamlike fantasy world where she is reunited with her mystery biker. She is named winner of the contest and crowned the queen of the upcoming graduation luau, with Johnny hailed as king for his performance of "Prowlin'" with his fellow T-Birds.

The school year ends with the luau, during which the Cycle Lords appear and begin to destroy the celebration. However, the Cool Rider reappears. After he defeats the Cycle Lords again, he reveals himself to be Michael. Initially shocked, Johnny gives him a T-Birds jacket, officially welcoming him into the gang, and Stephanie accepts that she can now be with him. As a reward, Michael and Stephanie kiss for their new love for each other. All the couples pair off happily at the seniors' graduation as the graduating class sings. The credits start rolling in yearbook-style, as in the original film.

Before the movie was even over the girls had passed out on the floor on top of the pillows and blankets. Each of them smiling as they dreamed about the males who made their lives complete. And with all the doors and windows locked up and a couple of motorcycles with AI units on guard, none of them were worried about being caught off guard.

I want to thank everyone who waited so patiently for me to get my writing back in gear. It's been very difficult these past several months to find any inspiration. But, with things finally calming down, I'm finally able to think about writing and find enjoyment in it. Unfortunately, this is what happens when life hits you like a ton of brinks. I hope everyone enjoyed this chapter. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or something that you would like to see featured in the upcoming chapters, please feel free to let me know. Many CYBER HUGS to everyone.
