A/N: It's been a while since I've updated, hasn't it? I said as soon as I finished editing this, I'd update. I am an author of my word. Well, here it is; your update. If you have not gone back and reread the other chapters, I urge you to do so. The revised chapters contain new details and I have made changes in the plot. Unless you don't mind being confused and lost then, by all means, continue to read this chapter without rereading the previous edited ones. But if you dislike being lost and out of the loop, then go back. Reread those chapters. Feel free to comment on stuff. Enjoy.
"Ky…?" Maya stared wide eyed at Ky. Had he just asked her what she thinks he just asked her? Or were her ears deceiving her?
"I know, I know," Ky mumbled, "it sounds crazy. Proposing without a ring… I just don't have one at the moment. But, I promise, I'll get you one as soon as I can." He smiled and looked up at the bright blue sky. Ky let out a soft, yet nervous laugh, "I guess I just got caught up in the moment and I hadn't thought about that. Not having a ring, I mean."
"Ky… I…"
"And, I guess this probably isn't the way you wanted to be proposed to and all. It certainly isn't my ideal way of doing this," he continued, "but… After that night we spent together… I couldn't get rid of the feeling that we have something special, you know? Like, we were meant to be together. These types of feelings only come once in a life time and well… I'd like to think you feel the same way about me too. Our child will need a father… I'd like to be that father."
"Ky," Maya gulped, "I really don't know what to say…"
"Say 'yes,'" Ky smiled, "Say, 'yes, I'd love to marry you, Ky,' or at least tell me you'll think about it."
"Ky… I… This is all happening so quickly… I think… I need a moment…" Her heart was pounding and her mind was racing faster than ever before. She couldn't think rationally. In that moment, she felt like she was going to vomit. Immediately, she got up and ran.
"Maya!" Ky shouted after her, "Please, wait!"
She darted away from the rock as quickly as she could and headed straight for her room. Ky watched as her back shrank in the distance as she fled from the scene and out of sight. Ky shook his head confusedly. He couldn't understand what chased Maya away. Was it something I said? He wondered.
"Hey, Ky," Boomer called.
Maya turned around to see his best friend walking over to him. "Hey, Boomer," he smiled, "have you seen Maya?"
"No, why?" He tilted his head, "Is something wrong?"
"Nah," Ky shrugged, "just need to talk to her, that's all."
Boomer raised an eyebrow, "Is there something going on between you two?"
Ky smiled nervously and ran a hand through his hair, "Yeah, about that…"
"Dude…" Boomer gaped, "Are you guys dating?!" A large smile spread across his face.
"Well, right now it's a bit complicated…"
"Bro!" Boomer chuckled, "When were you going to tell me? I always knew you guys were like close so I kind of expected this would happen. When did you guys start dating?"
"About a month ago," Ky nodded, "on her sixteenth birthday to be exact."
"Is that why you wanted to go to that restaurant?"
"Well, not really," Ky blushed, "I thought it would've been fun if we took Maya somewhere speAbocial for her birthday. But you stayed behind to fix the X-Scaper. So, naturally, I made my move."
"Way to go," Boomer said as he and Ky high-fived."Well, what happened?"
"Uh… Well…" Ky stuttered. It was time to tell Boomer the whole truth about what was going on. "We sort of had a few drinks… and then we fooled around a bit. One thing led to another and we ended up having sex."
Boomer stared at Ky with wide eyes, "Really? Did you… You guys used protection, right?"
"About that…" Ky ran his hand through his hair again, "We use the pullout method."
"Can't a girl still get pregnant pre-ejaculation?" Boomer raised an eyebrow.
Ky ran a hand through his hair again. He could just tell Boomer that Maya was pregnant. Boomer would flip. "About that…"
"Dude…" Boomer gaped, "tell me you're joking… Maya isn't… She isn't pregnant, is she?"
"I really wanted to tell you sooner but Master Boaddai told us to wait until he talked to the Redakai."
"Oh my god… She's still allowed to go on quests with us right?" he asked.
"Yeah, of course," Ky nodded, "but once the baby begins to become an issue she has to leave Team Stax and Ekayon will take her place."
"Wow… Well at least we won't be down one Kairu Warrior when she leaves, right?" Boomer tried to bring some comic relief to the situation.
"Yeah, it's nice that Ekayon and Atoch agreed to let him join us when Maya eventually goes on maternity leave," Ky agreed. "I asked Maya to marry me," he said after a while.
"What?" Boomer looked shocked.
"I told Maya I loved her, and that I want to always be with her, then I asked her to marry me. Just a few minutes ago actually," Ky confessed.
"What did she say?"
"She told me she need some time to think then took off," Ky sighed.
"When did you get her a ring?"
"I didn't," Ky mumbled, "I promised I get her one though."
"You've only been together for like, what? A month? What did you expect?"
"Boomer, when you find your soul mate, you know. You know you want to be with them forever. She can't deny the fact that she has feelings for me; you should have seen the way she was flirting. Plus, I know I'm her soul mate too. She's mine, and I'm hers. We've this connection."
Before Boomer could reply their X-Readers began to go off and alerted them there was a Kairu deposit to be found. Immediately they took off towards the X-Scaper. When they reached it they found Maya already waiting for them. Without a word Team Stax flew off on another quest to find and retrieve a Kairu deposit. On the way, Ky told Maya that Boomer knew. Boomer flew the X-Scaper in silence but kept looking over at Maya. She couldn't help but feel that Boomer was looking at her differently now that he knew. Mookee kept staring back and forth from Ky to Maya trying to make sense of what Boaddai had told him earlier.
Maya darted past Mookee towards her room and slammed the door shut behind her. Locking the door behind her, Maya collapsed onto her bed. As soon as her face hit her pillow she began to sob into her pillow.
"Whoa," Mookee squeaked, "What's wrong with Maya? Is she okay? You didn't fail the mission did you?"
"No," Ky sighed, "we got the Kairu. Boomer, however, let it slip that Maya was pregnant and Team Radikor began to call Maya names."
Boomer huffed as he sat down at the pilot's seat.
"What did they call her?" Mookee asked concernedly.
"Whore, slut, and some other things," Boomer replied.
"Is this a joke to you?" Ky snapped.
"What?"
"You don't even care that you've ruined Maya or hurt her feelings!" Ky raised his voice.
"Dude!" Boomer set the X-Scaper to autopilot, "Why are you acting like it was my fault?"
"Because it is your fault they found out!"
"Really?" Boomer scoffed, "Out there today, the only thing you cared about was Maya. Hell, you nearly cost us the Kairu because you had to 'protect' her-"
"She's pregnant!" Ky yelled, "One attack might hurt our unborn child."
"She's pregnant, not helpless," Boomer countered, "Maya is capable of taking care of herself! You didn't even care that I nearly got crushed with Zair's and Techris' attack!"
Ky huffed something under his breath and went to see if he could get Maya to come out of her room. "Maya…" he knock softly on her door, "Open up." He received no answer. He knocked one more time. Nothing. Not a sound came from the other side of the door. Ky tried to open the door but found it locked. "Come on, Maya, please," Ky tried, "Unlock the door." After trying multiple times to force the door open Ky left.
Inside her room My continued to sob uncontrollably into her pillow. It's my fault. She thought to herself. If I hadn't agreed to having one of those drinks… If I had just said 'no' things wouldn't be like this… It's my fault… I should've just said 'no'. I can't take this…
