Chapter 4
. .
The sounds from the various machines attached to Ellie were driving Aiden crazy. He sat beside Ellie, face in his hands, trying to process the last 8 hours. Everything had gone too fast.
The Doctor's came in and had told him that the blood transfusion had been successful, and the various blood tests they had done, showed that the antidote was working, and that the heroin was being flushed out of her body. He was relieved, but the same thoughts kept on coming into his head. How was it that a 14 year old girl was addicted to Heroin? What had that evil Bastard done to her?
There was a knock on the door and Aiden looked up. It was Nolan. He walked in, looking at Ellie and then faced Aiden with a sympathetic look. Nolan sat down next to his distraught friend.
He spoke quietly. "I'm so sorry, Aiden."
Nolan reached over and placed a hand softly on Aiden's back. He waited for Aiden's tears to come. And they did.
Aiden wiped away the tears on his face, and sighed deeply.
"I'm sorry."
"No, don't be."
Aiden reached out to touch his little girl, but couldn't. Instead he laid his fingertips faintly against her bare arm.
"We are going to find that bastard, and we are going to make him pay, and he will be begging for his life. But we have to do this right, Aiden. And it's going to take time."
"I don't care how long it takes, as long as he ends up dead."
They sat in silence, staring at Ellie.
"She's so beautiful, Aiden."
"Yeah, she is isn't she?"
Everything was fine. But then something went wrong. The machine's started to beep faster and faster.
A nurse came in and looked at the monitor and left the room quickly. She came back in with a Doctor. He muttered something to the Nurse and she left the room.
Emily walked in. Followed by several nurses with latex gloves on.
"W-what's going on? What are you doing?" Emily asked, fearfully.
"She can't breathe, there's too much fluid in her lungs. We need to get her to surgery, we can't do it the way we normally would, there's too much blood in her lungs. Otherwise she will die."
Several other Nurses came in with a separate bed, preparing it for Ellie. They started to transport the different IV drips and monitors onto the separate bed.
"Can you stand up, and move back." Aiden and Nolan did what they were told, and stood against the wall with Emily. Aiden was in shock.
"I don't understand! She was fine a minute ago! What hap-" Aiden was cut off by The Doctor, who pressed a button and several more Doctor's came running in.
Ellie was having a seizure. Her whole body was shaking uncontrollably. Blood was flowing out of her mouth and her nose. The amount of blood that was in her lungs was quickly killing her.
"We need to get her into surgery, now! Come on, let's go!"
The only people left in the room where the distressed trio, in shock over what they had just witnessed. Aiden sank down to the floor, followed by Emily and Nolan.
Daniel walked into the room, noticing Ellie's absence, and the troubled look on everyone's face.
"Where is Ellie? What happened?"
"She's going to be okay, she's going to be okay, and she's going to be okay."
Aiden kept on repeating those words out loud, trying to convince himself that he wasn't going to lose his baby girl. Not again.
They had been in the waiting room for the past two hours. Aiden was pacing the room, back and forth, jumping every time a Doctor walked past.
Daniel had left. He had gone back to the Manor, to fill his family in about everything that had happened. He asked if Emily wanted to come with him, but she politely refused.
"Aiden, come on, sit down. You're not making anything better by pacing the room."
He listened to his lover and sat down, breathing in deeply as he did so.
Nolan left, giving some excuse to go get Coffee, to give the two some space.
After a few minutes of silence, Aiden turned to face Emily, and held onto her hand.
"I understand completely, if you want to go. Honestly it's fine."
Emily giggled at him. "Don't be stupid, I'm staying right here with you."
Aiden forced a smile and let go of Emily's hand.
"No... I mean, you can go. I'm giving you permission to go live your life, go be with Jack, go live your life without me. Please, you don't need this."
Emily didn't know what to say, how to react. Was he breaking up with her?
"Have you lost your mind?" She whispered. "I don't want to go. I don't want to live without you. I don't want to be with Jack. I want to be with you, Aiden." She couldn't stop the single tear from rolling down her face.
"Aiden... I am in love with you, you bloody idiot! And I don't want a life without you in it. I don't care how hard or frustrating or difficult it's going to be, because that doesn't matter when we have each other. I want to help you with Ellie, I want to be a mom to her, I wan-"
Emily was cut off by Aiden's lips. He kissed her so passionately, trying to show her how much he looked her with his kiss. She kissed him back, slipping her tongue into his mouth, heating up the kiss. Aiden pulled away and kissed her softly.
"You love me?" Aiden asked, chuckling softly.
Emily nodded, feeling too emotional to speak. He wiped away the tears and kissed her again.
"I love you so much, Emily."
Emily laughed. It felt so good to hear those words. Of course they have said small loving things to each other, but never the actual love word. And she wanted to tell him for so long, that she loved him, but couldn't.
"I love you more than you will ever know." Emily said, tenderly, looking deep into Aiden's eyes. She snuggled up to him, so she was leaning against his chest, listening to his heart beat, while he played with her soft hair. It was perfect.
Ellie was fine. The surgery had been a success, and she was now recovering in Intensive Care.
Emily sat next to Aiden, who was passed out in his chair, holding on to Ellie's hand. It was now 3 in the morning, but Emily didn't feel like sleeping. She kept on thinking about Ellie, and how shit her life was. There she was lying in Intensive, with a breathing tube stuck down her throat and hundreds of Drips and Machines attached to her skin. Her phone rang. Emily quickly answered it.
"Hello?" She whispered quietly, so she didn't wake up Aiden.
"Look out of the window."
Emily looked up and was faced with The Graysons.
