The Start of a New Friendship
Month 1
Lin's POV
How long has it been since I slept? I am sure it is already morning since I always knew when to wake up. I did not have dreams nor nightmares, though i'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing, but now I am silently listening to the things surrounded me. Oddly, I didn't hear anyone, not even a soft murmur or a gentle footsteps of by-passer. Maybe people here doesn't get up that early in the morning? I wonder... I didn't open my eyes, because I am still tired and lazy at the moment, but also because I heard... doors, sliding? A few footsteps approached me and I am slightly nervous. Last time I was awake I remembered that I am lying on that not so comfortable bench somewhere, did I got... kidnapped or something? I don't even think that anyone here knows me, except for Yi of-course, but I strongly doubt that he would kidnapped me. The footsteps became more heavy and it was all over the room, like whoever it was are jumping all over the place.
"Awww, the more I look at her the more cute she is~!" Mewed a very feminine voice. W- What..? Who is that?
"SSSSHHHH! She's going to wake up if you kept talking..." Said a male voice that I could not recognize. More people stepped into the room that I am apparently residing at.
"And YOU, are going to wake HER up if you don't stop jumping all over the place!" Whispered a voice I do very much know. W- What is Yi doing with the other two person? W- Where am I? Curious, I kept my eyes closed to listen to the conversation.
"S- Sorry Master. I can't help it you know, this room is much more spacier than the others you had." Said the male voice. I still do not know what is going on, but it appeared that Yi was the "master" and I am in his house..? I don't know if I should be thankful or confused?
"That is not a good excuse, Wukong, you silly boy~" So the male's name was Wukong... Hehe, it's a very cute name.
"Shut it Ahri... You're no better than me (-_-) " And the lovely female was named Ahri! Huh, I wonder what all these people are doing with me along with Yi... Wait, why am I so calm? I don't even know the situation that i'm in right now... But I guess it's too late for that. And so far they're not saying anything threatening about me. So I listened in silence as their conversation continues in a loud whisper.
"Alright listen here, it is almost eight in the morning, why did you wake me up and why did you led me here? I don't start practicing until ten." Yi told the other two with a slightly annoyed voice.
"Well, I liked our new friends, and I wanted to play with her! Come on Yi, 'she was very nice and sweet ' is not enough for me~ I wanted to know more about her." Said Ahri, I... uh, felt very appreciated and honored about all the good things Yi told his friends,... I listened on further to see where this is going. Why are they talking about me though...
"She's an interesting human... It's not everyday that you find someone who are interesting." Wukong inquired. I resisted the urge to raise my eyebrows at the comment. He sounded very... amused?
"Can't you wait until she wakes up so we can have time to explain!? Besides we literally kidnapped her and I think she would wanted an explanation..." Yi yawned. I think that I understood what they've done for me and I am very grateful, but I feel a bit... invaded. How the heck did I end up here? Where... am I exactly.
"Are you going to keep her to yourself~? Share~! I want a cute female friend too!" Ahri purred. My cheeks heat up a little bit by the tone in her voice and the way she use her word choice.
"Don't. Get me started, I am too old for this shi... Yawn. Haven't I told you that I am not that much of a morning person..?" Yi said tiredly. I giggled and I think that just gave me away.
"Uh, I think she's awake..." Wukong said. I peek one eye open and I saw three faces. One belonged to Yi. Wow, he looks different without all that equipment on his face, he looked very nice. One was a kitsune woman with luscious lips, beautiful blue eyes and silky dark hair that are named Ahri. Two fox ears peeked out behind her head and it twitches constantly when she blinked. And the other one was a humanoid looking monkey male, Wukong, I assumed. He tilted his head when I opened both of my eyes and blinked at me in curiosity. With a small grin, I waved to the three of them and spoke up for the first time throughout the entire conversation.
"Hi everyone..~" I sat up and smiled. The three of them looked at each other and sweat-dropped, then turn their gaze back to me. Did... I,... said something wrong? "U- um, what's the matter?" I asked.
"You're... not the least bit surprised about why you're here?" Yi asked me while scratching his head. I heard everything while they were talking and I did figure it out by myself... So not really. And even if I were surprised I wouldn't show it, just for the sakes of my self entertainment.
"Wow, you're calmer than I though you'd be..." Wukong chuckles. I laugh softly and shook my head. It's not that I am calm... but well, I wasn't that shocked in the first place when I found out that I am in a strange place anyway, I've been at weirder and not as comfortable places.
"I was awake before all of you even entered the room. I just didn't bother to open my eyes." Ahri giggled while Yi and I laughed softly.
"Is that so? Then now I guess an apology and explanations is in order." Yi smiled and scoot in closer to the three of us. "After we said our goodbyes, I of-course went back to my home, as in here. But immediately after I just got back, these two idiots here bombarded me with a bunch of questions." He rolled his eyes and pulled his thumb back at the other two. Ahri wiggles her fingers and waved at me while Wukong scratched his head in embarrassment. "After I told them everything about my business trip and my encounter with you, they asked if they could meet you. I insists that the meet you today, but well, I guess that I was a bit worried about you so me and both these two went back outside to find you." He turn his head around and scratched his cheeks shyly as Ahri and me giggled in the background. That is so sweet of them!
"That was cute wasn't it?" Ahri nudged me in the shoulder and I nodded with a grin. Wukong snickered and lay down on his stomach while giving Ahri a light, playful punch on the shoulder. "Stop that, his head's gunna explode if ya keep teasing him." He was right! Yi's face lowered and his face was gushing red. "You look like a tomato, Master Yi~" Ahri giggled even more, her infectious noise made me grinned widely as well. Wow, I think I'm already getting used to them! They're so friendly!
"A- Alright! Let's get back to the point. And so the point is, we found you on that bench, it was really, really cold outside, and we couldn't bear to just leave you there,... So Wukong and me carried you and all your belongings here, our home." I looked around the place and was impressed. This room was very wide with a very homey feeling. The interiors and the settings were almost the same as most of my town's houses, it has sliding doors, calligraphy scrolls hanging on the walls, some lanterns-shaped lightings hanging down from the ceiling, and it basically are all very traditional and classy, it reminded me a lot of my home...
"I understand, and thank you. That was so nice of all of you!" I beamed at the three of them and we all just started a group hug. It felt so... warm. And I am very... happy~! I think that I just have even more new friends from now on. This is very exciting! "Awww, you guys~"
"Haha, Welcome to Ionia, Lin~! And you're our friends from now on! You're going to have to stick with us for a long, long time~!" Ahri cheered and we all laughed at each other.
"I wouldn't mind that!"
*In French accent* 20 Minutes Later...
"HUH!? Y- you're a what! W- why didn't you tell me when we first met?" I was very shocked at the moment. I mean Yi is actually the master of the art of Wuju and this is a part of his dojo!? What is Wuju... I've heard of it somewhere but i can't remember... Never-mind that! I found out that Wukong is his disciple and Ahri is their friends, and nobody told me about this. I mean this is like a huge opportunity for me, and an extremely high honor to just be in his presence right now... I'm panicking a little...
"C- Calm down, I forgot from all the excitement alright, look, it's not that big of a deal." Not big of a deal!? NOT, BIG, OF, A, DEAL!? "Besides, Wukong's my only student anyway." Really? It's such a huge dojo... I mean part of it are also his home and such, but the dojo part it self could contain up to hundreds of people. I guess Yi handpicked his students...
"Yeah! I've been around for a while! He couldn't kick me out since I'm his most precious student." Wukong proudly said with a smirk. His hand on his chest and his head held high. We giggled at his antics as Yi rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, because you're his only student..." Ahri said and we giggled further at him. His fur has a tint of red as he glared at her and scoffed.
"Sh- Shut up! For your information I am an excellent student."
"Yes, very..." Yi rolled his eyes and we laughed a little bit louder. I felt less awkward now, but that doesn't change the fact that Yi was really Master Yi. I turned my head and glanced at his profile as I proceed to talk.
"But you're still going to help me right?" I asked. They looked at each other again in awed chuckles nervously. I didn't really know what's going on so I tilted my head in confusion. "What?" Did I missed something again? Man, I really gotta pay attention a little bit harder. Master Yi coughed awkwardly as I stared at him, wondering what was on their mind.
"Uh,..." Wukong scratched his cheeks slowly and chuckles. "Actually, you don't need to look for a teacher anymore." Huh?
"Why not?" Is it really what I think it was?
"How do I put this..." Yi stroked his bearded chin and looked at the sky for a moment and then turn his gaze back into me with a soft smile on his face. "I am your teacher now, my young pupil." He bowed at me as did the other two. I just stood there for a moment with my eyes wide and my jaw dropped on the ground. I couldn't believe this! This is amazing! I giggled internally and do a skittishly dance. He wanted me as his student! That means Wukong and Ahri would be my fellow partners from now on, and I would learn the art of Wuju!
I regain my compose and bowed back to the three of them. "It would be my pleasure... Master." As we stood up, we all broke into a huge grin and group-hugged each other again. I dropped my smile for a moment and frowned a bit.
"What's the matter?" Ahri asked, sensing something was wrong.
"Well, why did you just... accept me? Am I... worthy enough?" I have self-doubt at times, and I have to admit, I am not that great of a person. All I have going for myself is my my positive way of thinking at tough situations... Yi smiled and put a hand on my shoulder with a confident look on his face. I looked up to see him smile gently, as did the other two. Did I deserve this honor?
"Why do you think Wukong's my only student? Because he have a noble heart and I like his spirit. He wanted to honor the art of Wuju, and to become one of the greatest warriors in Runettera. His intentions are good, just like yours." He paused at this, and his hand travel from my shoulder to my head and patting it gently. "You wanted to protect the people you love, and for that you travel for thousands of miles to meet some old friend of your parents that you or them don't even know if he's alive or not to teach you, yet you went anyway. I respect that. And your traveling tales are amazing, you had great potential. And together we can sharpen it in no time." He grinned widely and the other two nodded with a smile. I am stunned at his small speech. No one had spoken of me that highly before.
"I- I..." I couldn't speak, no words came out after that. And I felt something warm sliding down my cheeks. I think that this is it. It's destiny, I met him, I met them for a reason. And this too, could be fate. Everything makes a lot of sense now. Because now not only I have new friends in this strange new land, I have a new teacher and guidance.
"Awww, are you crying~? Come here you~!" I sniffled and wrapped my arms around Ahri's back with my cheeks on her stomach while she stroke my hair softly. Come over here... Mouthed Ahri. The guys obliged and we all embraced each other... Again. "Glad to have you on the team, Linnie~ " Ahri giggled. Linnie? Awww, it's a cute nickname! I smile to that and wiped my tears off of my cheeks.
"Beware though, I won't go easy on you just because you just got here... Wait, or maybe I should...?" I smiled at Yi and shook my head. How thoughtful.
"I'll be ready for anything! I am tough after all." I giggled. I shall prove myself worthy of their time. I want to be strong. As a woman and as a warrior. "Of-course you are, Lin." He replied back.
"Promised?!" I nodded at Wukong. "Promised." I said with all my determination. These people have light up my spirit fire, and with it I shall not let them down.
"Alright, now who's up for breakfast~? I'll make your favorites!" Ahri chirped. Ooooh! I was getting hungry too.
"Oh? you cook for the men everyday?" I asked out of amazement, I didn't know she can cook. Ahri beamed and nodded eagerly at me. It looks like we are going to get along just fine. "I can help you with that. I- I mean I can try, and maybe I can show you some of my specials too." Since I just got here, I want to know what everybody wants and likes, and maybe I could show off a bit. I love cooking with my mother...
"Wow~! You know how to cook to huh? This is going to make it so much easier and faster for me. Come~!" Ahri wagged her fingers at me and wiggled her tails as she walked out of the door. As I stood up, the guys looked at me in shock and I laughed quietly as I left. Things are going to be interesting from now on. I wonder what Ahri's making though, I was hoping something traditional...
"Wow, what's this? It's good!" Yi and Wukong shouted as they stuffed their mouth with our food. Me and Ahri smiled in pride as we watched them devoured the food.
"Oh, that one that you're eating, Wukong, was still the old thing. But Linnie here spiced it up~!" She points her thumb back to me and I bowed jokingly.
"Yes, that was I~" I bowed jokingly.
"Uhuh, the egg pancake was usually slightly salted, Lin here added a dash of pepper with a very small amount of sugar, and topped it with our fresh batch of chopped up delicious green onions. It was her suggestion to do that, and it turned out as you just tasted~! Isn't she amazing?" I blushed and covered my face with my hand in embarrassment.
"Oh stop it~" Yi chuckled and continued to eat his food portion with delight.
"And what about this one right here? I never seen this before!" I chuckled at that and sat down with them to see their faces stuffed with our breakfast.
"...And that one, was mine! It's called Jaozi. It's like dumpling, but fried! And I added Ahri's special sauce in there too. My mother loved it when I made this. And I'm glad that you liked it as well." I said with a gentle smile on my face as I mentioned my mother. She does love it didn't she...
"Alright, so, as I was saying, you reminded so much of Wukong back in the days, clueless about things here and all that..." Yi took a bite out of the Jaozi and gulped it down. "Though unlike you, he was so impatient and... what's the word, naughty." I stiffed a laugh and looked at Wukong. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, since he is so disciplined and role-model like right now. Wukong noticed us staring so he chuckled awkwardly and scratched his neck. "He really was a monkey, remember that time Ahri? When we have to spent all of our savings to buy him all that bananas? And he didn't get used to human culture until month three!" Ahri giggled and rolled her eyes.
"Boy I'm glad those days were over... I mean he bit someone before." I couldn't contain myself and laughed at that. "Wow, seriously?" I voiced out my thoughts. They all nodded and I stared at Wukong in amazement and disbelief.
"S- stop that, I thought they were... uh, TRYING TO HURT MASTER YI! YEAH! I- I bit them because they were trying to do something to my Master!" Wukong smirked as he defended himself. "Ha! How about that?" He laughed in victory, but it was short-lived when Yi spoke up again. His face full of sarcasm and a smug smile was clearly spread on his lips.
"Wukong... we were shaking hands." O,m,g. We all burst out laughing as Yi and Ahri was reminiscing the old days. Wukong fumed with embarrassment as he grumbled a few words with his arms crossed in from of his chest, his face was angry, but jokingly.
"ANYWAY! Lin, I am interested at your journey from your hometown to here, could you tell us more? Since Master Yi said he only told us what he could remember from your conversation." Wukong turned to me and changed the topic. That got my attention. The laughter died down as they all nodded in unison.
"It's a long story... But if you want I'll tell you."
"Please~ Go ahead. I am very interested in little Linnie's adventure!" I nodded and scratched my chin to recall what happened. It's been a month after all since I left my hometown... I have to make it as quick as possible... I'll try to sum it all up in a short time.
I was studying in the library, minding my own business. But then our servant came with important news from my parents. The nearby villages was ravaged and was destroyed from a group of criminals that escaped from a prison. They feared that my life could be in danger since no one in the house knew any martial arts except my father, so they asked me to go and seek an old friend of theirs to teach me how to defend myself against enemies. I was scared. Our village was a peaceful place for a very long time. And the news just put a shock onto everyone's faces and hearts. I left immediately after that night was over and headed for the forest. It was scary the first few days since I was stuck in the part with little light and life form. It was eerily quiet and dark. There was this pond... and while I was washing my clothes I slipped and fell into it. Strangely, I discover my ability to bend and manipulate the water surrounding me into what I would like to do with it. I didn't knew I had the potential... But it took me a few hours to finally get used to it. It helped a lot! It could heal my injuries and make me feel more energetic every time I meditated near or under the fresh, cool water. It was an amazing feeling.
The three of them nodded and ate slowly as I sighed softly and continued.
I made it out of the dark side of the forest in a few days. It was easier to see and move around as the sunlight shines through. It was more lively and less lonely out in that side. I actually made a few friends! Well,... furry friends, but friends nonetheless. Thanks to my new ability and my past knowledge, I saved White Fang's life and gained his friendship and trust, along with his pack's loyalty to me. You see... He was a dangerous thing, he actually got a bounty on his skin. Because he killed so many trespasser before and people doesn't go through the forest anymore because of him mainly. He was... dying, when his pack led me to him. I don't know what happened, maybe a hunter shot him or it was traps? I don't know. But he had this huge open wound, you see...
I moved my hands to my sides and drew an invisible oval, indicating the shape and the size of the wound. Ahri hissed and made a face as she imagined a wound of that size. Master Yi and Wukong listened intensely and quietly, their focus was totally in my story.
"That's a big wound..." It was, I nodded. And resumed my tale as she settled down with us.
I recognize him after I inspected him, I almost didn't want to save him, you know. Our town would have one less problem to worry about and all that. But, well... I couldn't bear to leave him there, the members in his pack all looked at me, I don't know how I can tell, but in their eyes, they were begging me to save their leaders. And, I think that all life are sacred, even for a killer... so I quickly carried him to this abandoned house and immediately started to fix him up. It was a bit... gory and sort of repulsive to look at for strangers, though... Blood and all that was all over me, my hands, my cheeks, my chest, just everywhere, I was not really affected since I already experienced things like this. Luckily I closed up the wound and cleaned him up before he could bled to death. He was a beautiful guy though, his fur was pure white, just like the fresh snow you would see in the mountains when he wasn't covered with blood. The process was excruciatingly painful though, he seemed to howled in pain each time I tried to use my ability to mend his broken tissues. He quieted down after I got his wound patched up. But I was very exhausted myself, the process took exactly two - three hours, including cleaning him up. I went to sleep the moment my head was on the ground.
I chuckled at that. I could still remember the feeling of sore shoulder from that day. I don't think that I will ever forget. It was an eventful day for me and my best friend. He was very tough, I guess I was too.
I didn't have time to clean myself up... I was covered with White Fang's blood, and that didn't went unnoticed. When I woke up, he was still there, asleep. At that moment I realized that I could be in danger, so all that was set in my mind is to get out of there. As I reach for my bag and tried to stand up, I realized that my legs were stiff and I couldn't move. So what I did was that I tried to crawled out of there, but the floor underneath my squeaked loudly and gave me away. He woke up.
Wukong and Yi gasped as they put their chopsticks down. "Woa, w- what happened to you? Did you escaped? D- DID YOU GOT HURT!?" I grinned and shook my head slowly. The opposite really. I told them to relax and let me continued... actually, let me finish, the story. My adventure isn't long, but it was exciting while it lasted.
He really scared me when he approached me slowly. I internally panicked and shut my eyes as I thought I was going to die... But after a short while of nothing happening, I opened my eyes to him sticking his tongue out at me with his tails wagging excitedly. You know what he did after that? It was ridiculous. He tried to clean his blood off of me by licking me anywhere that had the trace of blood. Even my...
I stared down at my chest for a moment and coughed, my cheeks heats up at the embarrassment. The guys also blushed a little bit and scratched their cheeks as I laughed nervously. Ahri chuckled mischievously and flash a wink at me. It was pretty awkward at that moment too, just like now. I giggled and shook my head while continuing the story.
Ahem, well, you get the point... I shook him off as I cleaned myself at the nearby pond. It re-energized me and I got back all of my strength. I felt great and refreshed. But I wasn't about to waste my time just sitting around, so I took a few hours to train and meditate to sharpen my abilities while I was still there. I planned to get out of the forest after the week was over after-all, so time should be spent wisely. After the session, I gathered my stuff and get going immediately. I didn't know that White Fang and his little friends was following me until they literally assaulted me with licks and kisses after I settled down and made campfire at some place. I liked them a lot... but I had to leave soon, you understand my situations right? I would love to have such loyal companions... But the time came as I went out and say farewell with White Fang and the group. It saddens me to leave my only friends while I was in the forest. But I moved forward and started to head for here. This is where the story ends.
"Huh? I- It's already over!? Wh- what about your journey here? It's a pretty long distance!" Wukong whimpers as I smiled and pinched his nose playfully.
"Well, I was rushing to get here. The faster the better. I wasted no time at all. We're thousands of miles away after all, and I wanted to see my parents again. So it only took me two weeks to get to this land. I didn't stop too much. So sadly no interesting stories to tell you. Hehe." Wukong pouted and crossed his arms. I giggled and patted his shoulder gently. After a moment, he sighed and smiled at me with eyes full of respect.
"You're so brave though, risking your lives to save a dangerous creature. That's very nice of ya." He winked and we all laughed. The food on the table were all finished just by the time my story were finished. I smiled and gathered the dish together and head for the sink. I would've do that again in a hearbeat. Not only with him, but anyone...
"Are we doing anything today?" I asked out of curiosity. I don't know what they usually do, but it should contain training sessions regularly. I want to fit in and get comfortable with them after all. So knowing their schedule would be the first step to strengthen out bonds and get used to my new living environment.
"Oh yes, me and Wukong are having a sparing session. You should come watch, you might learn something. No training for you today though, we'll start that tomorrow." I pouted for a moment, but smiled and nodded at him. It's actually a good idea, I will get to observe how Wuju warriors fights. It would benefit more than trying to adapt in right away. I would look stupid in front of these Veterans of war.
"You two go ahead and have a break, I'll help Linnie clean the dishes~!" Ahri giggled and came to stand next to me. The males eagerly ran out of the room to leave me and Ahri alone so we can wash the dishes.
"Here~" Ahri handed me a sponge and some soap. I smiled and accept it as I start scrubbing.
"Thank you." I replied. Ahri chuckled and waggled her ears playfully while she handed me one of the plates.
"So, how do you feel about here~? Well, so far I mean." She asked.
"I liked it! It's a very nice change of pace..."
"Hmmm? How so~?" She asked out of curiosity as I placed one plate back onto its rack.
"My parents are at work the whole day until late at night. So things are pretty quiet at my house." I explained as she handed me a bowl. "The guys are so... lively and happy here! Really made me feel at peace for some reason." I smiled at her. "I like you too. You're like a sister I always wanted!" I grinned happily and turned my face to her.
"R- Really~? You're honest?" She asked with her head tilted slightly and her ears waggled excitedly. It was an adorable sight.
"Yes!" I replied shorty as I nudge her sides with my elbow lightly in a playful manner. As our bouts of giggling died down. I sighed softly and resumed doing what I was supposed to do.
"Hey, Lin. I wanted to ask you something." Ahri asked in a soft voice, curiousity took over as I tilt my head slightly. I nodded and waited. "Why here? There could be so many opportunity everywhere in Runettera. Why Ionia?"
That was a good question. Besides my previous reasoning, there are tons of places that could have amazing people that are willing to help me, and the person that I am no longer looking for might be scattered all over. So why...?
"I don't really know, at first I thought it was silly of my parents to send me all the way here, I passed a lot of interesting places as you heard earlier. But... I don't feel a special connection to them, so I didn't stop. At first glance they were majestic and glorious. But I don't think it's for me. My father told me if I don't want to go to Ionia, I could stay where my instinct told me to."
I paused for a moment and smiled softly. "I actually did make one or two stops, but I wasn't drawn to those places." Ahri nodded in acknowledgement. "The moment that I stepped my foot in Ionia, I had this feeling that told me to keep going. And so I did, and that's how I saw Master Yi. And this place... it gave me a calm feeling... Like..., like home." I replied. I don't know what I was thinking at that moment she asked me, but I speak truly from my own heart.
"Wow, I didn't know you thought so deeply about things... That's quite amazing of you~!" Ahri smiled as we finished up our task. With the last plate placed in the high shelf, Ahri spoke up once more. "After Master Yi and Wukong's sparing session would you like us to take you around the island for sightseeing? I think that you will love it~!"
"Well of-course! I can't wait!" What an exciting day, I really like my new friends and my new master. I look forward to the rest of today as I happily exited the kitchen. Only about fifteen minutes left until the sparing session, I wouldn't want to miss a thing! Everything was going to be perfect.
I was right. And so I watched the two males intense sparring session with great interest. Yi was indeed a bladesman. The jade iridescent sword gleamed brightly in the sunlight with each swing and slash he struck against Wukong's *Ruyi Jingu Bang (or so he told me), now that was an interesting weapon. It's... an iron bar, with dragons inscribed along the top and bottom end of the staff. It's golden coat also shines beautifully as its metallic paint made contact with Yi's blade. The funny thing is that, before the duel, he ask me if I want to see a trick of his. I was curious, so I agreed. With a thump, he planted the thing on the ground and giggles, as he said: "No matter how far it is to the top, it's always within my grasp!", the bar grew taller and taller and taller, until it shrinks back as he took it off the ground. I didn't understand what is it, so he told me that he can command it to his will; a very intriguing fact.
"Hup!" The Wuju bladesman shouted as he began to speed up. Yi's movements was so fast I couldn't see anything but a yellow flash moving across the field. I noticed that Wukong had the same problem; he couldn't keep up with Yi, his face panicked and he was starting to sweat. But then after a moment, his face brightened and he smiles. Just as I was about to wonder what he was going to do, Wukong spins his staff 360 rapidly into a cyclone, he knocked Yi up in the air for a moment, but still Yi was too fast so he quickly got out of Wukong's staff range and meditated in the air for a few seconds. As Wukong's Cyclone died down, Yi went for his signature move Alpha Strike. H- He was still too fast for my eyes to keep up, I couldn't even saw him when Wukong was KO'ed on the ground.
"Wow, impressive..." As me and Ahri clapped and cheered, Yi helped Wukong up to his feet with a sly smirk on his face as he looked to us. Wukong laughed heartily and wiped his forehead. "How was it?" I asked.
"Man... I thought I would've beat him today. Almost! I almost made it though." Yi shook his head and turn to whisper to me.
"He has a lot to learn if he wants to beat me..." I snorted and shook my head as Wukong groaned in disapproval. "Come on, I can hear ya ya know..." Ahri giggled and stood up to stretch. Then she helped me to my feet and turn to the guys.
"So, do you guys wanna come with me to give Linnie here a tour?"
"Heck yeah! I wanna do some exploring today too, so let's go!" Wukong eagerly replied. He's so adorable, he reminds me of a young child,... uh monkey.
"Of-course, I'm your master now, so it's my responsibility to show you around... Okay and also I wanted to go, without Wukong and you two here there's nothing left to do." We chuckled at Yi. He could be very formal and goofy at times.
"Alright, let's goooooo~!" Ahri grabbed Wukong's and my hand and I grabbed Yi's as we began to ran out of the dojo and to the street. A cloud of dust kicked up as we moved down the road. "Sometimes I swear she could outran me..." Yi said on the sideline. I couldn't contain the smile on my face as I giggled. These guys... I loved them. Already. I can't wait to began doing some serious stuff with them, and I can't wait to do fun things either, I really could enjoy my time here to my fullest!
"Karma, I would like for you to meet a person, she just arrived here a few days ago. And you'll looooove her~!"
"A new person? Now who would I owe the pleasure to meet? And why is this person so special?"
"Trust me, she's special alright. And she would be staying in Ionia for quite some time. So I wanted to report to you first."
"Hmmm. Alright, I'm glad that you would report to me first. So please, come in!"
That's my cue, with a smile, I peeked through the doorway and entered the room as I see three familiar figures and one female. She was very beautiful, everything about her was majestic, her appearance alone made her seemed very important, and you could already tell that she is just by standing next to her or her presence; She was like a goddess.
"Are you Miss Lin? Nice to meet you!" She replied and I bowed my head to her.
"Yes I am, an honor to be in your presence."
"The pleasure's mine, Miss Lin. So, you are a temporarily citizen here now, I heard?" She asked. I nodded at the woman. She had a gentle but authoritative voice. It was soothing to hear it, but at the same time it forces one to listen and pay attention.
"Yes, Master Yi wanted me as his pupil, and as soon as I finished my training I will leave." I could see the trio's expression saddens as I spoke, but I pretended to not noticed as Karma continued to speak to me. One eyebrow raised amusingly.
"Master Yi had spoke of your... abilities, I believe. It interest me a little, would you care to give me some information?" I guess that people with potentials are really appreciated here, I smile and gave her the information that she needed. She inquired me more on how did I obtained my abilities and asked me for a short demonstration. I was scared and surprised when she withdraw a knife and made a somewhat deep cut on her arms, but I recovered quickly as I healed her in no time as she stared at me in astonishment. "Told you she's special." Murmured Yi as Karma rolled her eyes. She felt up her arm at the spot she cut and look back up at me. I could tell that she was quite surprised that I really had some abilities... This sounds familiar.
"Wow, that's quite some abilities you got there." She smiled. "It shocked me that such a deep cut could be restored in the matter of seconds." Rubbing at her arms, she looked at me with eyes full of respect and admiration as she laughed gently. "You have... good hands, dear girl~" She winked at me naughtily as the trio behind snickered.
"T- Thank you. I tried my best to make it... magical~" My cheeks flared up, I stammered with my words as miss Karma spoke in that suggestive tone. But it earns me a giggle from Karma and a comment from my kitsune friend.
"I have to say that I didn't expected you to test her by cutting yourself~! That's surprised me." Ahri giggled. "Well... I was a little bit shocked too." I added. Seriously, the extend people went to test someone's honesty... She didn't really believe me at first. Well, of-course. Considering my age and my appearance, I don't looked too much like someone with power. But looks can be awfully deceptive isn't it.
"My apologies, I was going to see if you really are truthful. And my my, it is quite an... interesting power. I will look into this further in the future..." She stroke her chin in thought while a small smile formed on her lips. Turning to me, she bowed her head and spoke. "You have full access to Ionia, come and go as you please. I do believe that you have no intention of bringing chaos to our peace and harmony..?" I nodded quickly and she chuckled. "Good, good. Welcome to Ionia, Lin. It is sad to know that you are leaving soon. But, enjoy your stay. And please, if you can, come over for some tea and maybe we could have a chat." I smiled and bowed back to Karma. That would be nice. And she seems very interested in the source of my power, I guess she wanted to inquired me further on it. Not that I minded anyway.
"Will do!" I eagerly and honestly replied. Karma smiled kindly at my honesty.
"Now, my apologies, I must attend to my duties. I do hope that you enjoy Ionia's beautiful scenery and its serenity. Have a nice day." With a wave of dismissal, Karma stood up from her post and left. Leaving me and the trio alone in the room. I stretched out and dusted my shoulder as I turned toward my friends.
"So, how did I do?" I grinned."
"She really likes you, I haven't seen her talking that long in a while~" Ahri said as Yi nodded.
"Correct. But I really was surprised she cut herself... It almost gave me a heart attack, not, good for my age." He joke as he dramatically fans himself.
"Nah, you're not that old." Yi smiled at Wukong warmly and patted his shoulder appreciatively. "...Yet." "OWWW!" Ahri laughed hysterically as we left the building and Yi smacked Wukong. Men... they never really grow up do they... I sighed happily and walked with a skip in my steps as we made our way back home.
"The Kinkou order gladly welcomed you to Ionia, Lady Lin." Shen politely said and the four Ninjas exchanged bows with me.
I haven't been this excited since... ever! This is like a dream came true for me. I am standing in front of a real, Ninja. They are as my stories said, their stature was powerful and mysterious. They stood proudly no matter where they are, night or day. Everything was hidden behind their masks and many layer of clothing. Nothing could be seen except for their eyes. Strong and piercing, like that of a hawk. It was intimidating to just look at these individuals alone, lest conversing with them. But I found these particular individual quite... intriguing. There is an air of mystery that piqued my interest. Their appearances wasn't really intimidating that much to me. And after speaking with them for a little, they're actually pretty nice. Especially Shen. My former status as a daughter of a Lord from a faraway land had him calling me Lady, it was kind of embarrassing for him to call me that. His voice is actually younger than I thought it would be, a man in his late 20's perhaps...?
"The pleasure is all mine, Shen, Akali, Kennen, Zed. And please, call me Lin. I- It embarrass me so for you to use honorifics on a young person like me." I smiled shyly at the three Ninjas. "I liked to be called by my name anyway. It gave a sense of familiarity." I was really happy when the people back in my little place called me Lin instead of 'Miss' or 'My Lady'. It made me feel like I have good relations with them.
"As you wish, Lin." Shen acknowledged my request as his voice relaxed, I can't see it, but I can sense a smile within his voice. "What do we own the honor of having you here today?" He asked as the other two stood up straight. Shen must be the leader, since he spoke out for the other two, and he had an authoritative air around him.
I'm at the Kinkou Monastery. With me are the four Elite Ninja of the order: Shen, Zed, Akali, and Kennen. Master Yi and the others are waiting outside. Since I was their guest of honor today and it was my business, the other three didn't have to come in and guide me like they did with Karma. I guess this is some sort of orientation for the inhabitants of Ionia to get familiar and know me. Not that I mind of-course, I was really excited to made new acquaintances and friends. So I don't mind going around like this once in a while.
"You must forgive us for our indecency, my father, our Master is not available to properly greet you." He bows an apology as did the other three.
"It's completely fine, Shen. I'm the one who came uninvited." I chuckled and bowed back. Such etiquette... I smiled as he rose up and placed my hands in my laps. Zed was the first one to rise. He took a second to look at me as he turned away quickly. Huh? Did I say something weird? I blinked twice and looked at Shen in confusion as he blinked twice back at me in surprise. Akali noticed our silent gaze exchanging and giggled softly. "Um..." She noticed my nervousness and shook her head as her eyes closed in a hidden smile to reassure me.
"Zed-senpai is shy." Kennen suddenly said, joining our 'conversation'. Akali giggled further and nodded as Shen chuckled. He... is? I couldn't tell. If he is really is shy he is hiding it really well.
"Quiet. You're being rude." Zed muttered back to him. He cleared his throat and turn back to face me as he bowed slightly and look back up at me. "What is a daughter of a nobleman doing so far away from home. Is what I was going to ask." He replied with no hint of nervousness or shyness that Kennen mentioned. I smiled amusingly at him.
"Shen, Zed, Kennen-san, Akali-sama." I nodded before answering their question. So far I've briefly told them about myself, but didn't went too far into it. Their faces was calm like always. But I can tell that they wished to know. "My purpose for coming here today wasn't much." They stared at me and blinked once as if they were confused. I understood... like why would a person just show up and come into one's territory for no apparent reason? But I smiled, indicating that I was going to continue. "But I wanted to introduce myself to every important personnel around Ionia. Since I am going to be here for quite a while, I might as well get to know others." I beamed at the four Ninjas. Then I looked down and pressed my fingers together shyly as I spoke in a very soft voice, almost like a whisper. "P- Plus, I want to make friends... since I'm completely new and a stranger around here... It might not be so... lonely, when I go places and happens to have a few acquaintances that are willing to enjoy my company." I blushed and glanced to my right side as I continued to press my fingers together. After a few seconds, gentle laughs were made. I slowly looked up and saw the four Ninja's eyes softens with kindness.
"Is that so?" Akali said with a grin in her voice. "I understand the feeling. It's dreadfully boring here just hanging around these males all the time. I'm glad that you came here today." She teased and nudged Kennen on his head. Shen groaned and Kennen just shook his head. So... she's the only female in this monastery I believe. Wow, what a woman.
"Hey... we can't be that bad, right?" Shen asked jokingly. I grinned at their closeness. They must be of very good terms together. All of them. This sense of familiarity is only found within people that have strong bonds.
"Yes." Kennen snickered and Shen's face dropped gloomily. Akali giggled and winked at me. "Tell you what, if you can, just ask. If we're available we could lead you to do some sightseeing around here. The waterfall is absolutely gorgeous." I pictured in my mind an image of a waterfall surrounded with beautiful cherry blossom trees, the sound of the dropping water crashed against a few boulders as the scent of the flowers lulled me to relax. I sighed at the image and nodded my head.
"Gladly." I grinned widely at them. "And Zed-san, to answer your first question..." I looked at him again and stroke my chin to think of the right words to use. The four was immediately brought back their attention onto me a listened with interest. They waited patiently for the next word that would come out of my mouth.
"I'm here, in Ionia, because I want to live and fight to protect the ones I love." I said with seriousness in my eyes. Making the others eyes widen with surprise and look at each other before turning back to me, their gazes full of question. Understanding that they wanted me to explain, I continued. "I don't know where, but an infamous group of criminal broke free from their prisons, the news somehow spread all the way to where I live..." I looked down, remembering the day that I left home. "I didn't want to leave. But it was my father's wish for me to go seek a master that can teach and guide me to make it past this tough world. Because i'm a... i'm a defenseless woman. I'm... i'm weak and frail. And a single wind could blow me away. There's nothing special about me." I said with a sad tone. The others frowned at me with understanding as Akali touched my shoulder for comfort. She's a woman too. She understand the feeling to be a lone female living and surviving in this huge and tough world.
"But then... not long after that, I discovered my power... I found out what I can really do. And I was confident in myself again." I lift my head up and clenched my hand tightly in accomplishment. "I saved a life using my new power. And it gave me hope that I can do something good for myself and other people. And so I ended up here. Master Yi accepted me as his student and with him I made a few more friends. Master Yi himself, Ahri, Wukong, and Miss Karma." I grinned widely as I named out my new-found friends and allies. The Ninjas looked at each other, then back to me. Their eyes full of pride and gentleness as they slowly move their gaze toward me. "And now I have you four. Or... do I?" I hesitated.
"Yes." Zed spoke up quickly, despite his quietness and much to our surprise. "Not... that it would make us happy or anything." He quickly added. Oh my. Is he a... tsundere~? I giggled internally while smiling softly at him. Making him turning his head slightly away in embarrassment.
"Told you he's shy." Kennen repeated with a smug voice.
"I believe you, I believe you." I giggled, making the other two laughing quietly as well.
"H... hey..." Zed mumbled at us.
"Lin, would you mind showing off that power of yours? I know you're really humble, but we're very intrigued and curious." Shen said to me, the other three nodded in agreement and I smiled. Of-course. Even though I don't like to show off, they're my friends now. And if they want a show, they'll get one.
"Do you want me to do it right now? Or in a larger setting?" I offered. I don't know the extend of my magic. But I guess I can do a grand performance in a bigger and more open space.
"It's completely fine if we just have the honor to see it right here." Kennen replied for the other three. I nodded and rubbed my hands together as I grinned mischievously. Please forgive me for this. They're about to be in for a real wet surprise. They blinked twice, confused by what my facial expression that I make means. Taking a small breath, I focus my spiritual energy into my palm as my hand glows softly. A breeze of wind blew against my hair as it spread and float in mid air. My hand felt the pulsating energy began to surface and I opened my hand. The four people draw closer to take a closer look at the soft light. With a giggle, I curled my finger and formed a stream of water as I let it danced playfully in the air. With my index finger, I guide the jet of water to weave through the four Ninjas. Akali giggled as it tickled her arm and look at it with a playful glint in her eyes. Shen and Zed stared at the streams of water circulating around them and glide their hands through the liquid to feel it, Kennen excitedly touched the surface and laughed.
I made a silent motion to Akali, she nodded and stepped away from the other three for a short distance and gave me a thumbs up with a wink. I nodded and rubbed my hands together once again. While the three male Ninjas was distracted, I flicked and curled my fingers together, silently commanding the water to join together and made a small twister. They looked at the mini-sized twister in amazement, but what come next they did not expect as a few shout of surprise was heard at, well, you know what happened next.
"What... is the meaning of this? Lin..." Shen said in a pissed off tone as me and Akali giggled loudly. "Wait... Don't tell me, Akali, you're in on this too?" Kennen said with a squeaky voice. Wow, he sure did not like getting wet. But even so I could tell he was having some fun when he playfully punched me and Akali on the arm. Zed and Shen stood gloomily in the corner as they pull their knees up to their chest and crouch down. I- I can see the little gloomy spirits floating around their area. Maybe that wasn't a really good idea... But then my thoughts was interrupted as they stood up and chuckled. W- wow, that is the first time that I hear them laughing. Shen voice is very calm and smooth, contrasting to Zed's strong and deep voice. It was very nice to hear.
"You might be the very first person that dared to assault Ninjas in their own domain." Zed said jokingly, he had a playful tone as he approached us. If I am, then I am awesome. "I don't mind getting... wet, once in a while. But don't... do that without warning us." He slapped his soaked shirt for emphasis, making me laugh. That threw them off guard, even for a brief moment. I understand that I shouldn't do it too much. They're Ninjas, they're warriors. They've been trained carefully, if things took them from surprise, that wouldn't be a very good news for them. I don't want to make things difficult, especially for my friends.
"I'm sorry i'm sorry, I just couldn't help it. You all were so fascinated." I smiled. "Wow, you guys are so nice you know that." I wonder why I don't see anyone else but me hanging around the monastery... As if sensing my question, Shen cut in.
"Thank you. Our reputation as a ninja are well knowned and respected throughout the land. It might be because we're 'scary' or 'intimidating' that not many visitors want to cross path with us. So that's why we don't get much visitors here besides for the students that comes and goes." He answered the question that never came out of my mouth. Really? They're not so intimidating if you hang around them for awhile, or just wanting to have their acquaintances. "You're actually the first one that approached us calmly and ask for friendship out of the blue."
"Hehehe, I think that you all are very lovely individuals." They scratched the back of their neck shyly as I nodded and smiled at the four and looked out the door. I see Master Yi and Ahri waving at me as I realized that we have to go soon. "Wow, it's been quite a while I see." I turned around and face the entrance as I waved back at the others. The ninjas understood and moved behind me, I turned around to see the four standing in the same position that I saw when I first entered the monastery.
"May a lovely person like you have a lovely day, Lin. We hope to see you again soon..." Zed and Shen said in unison as they bowed to me. I smiled and dipped my skirt in a bowing gesture and headed for the entrance.
"Thank you... friends. For using your precious time on me..." I said in a whisper and stepped out of the building. The light hit my face, making me squinted and close my eyes for a few moments. Blinking a few times, I opened my eyes to see a smiling Master Yi and a Wukong and Ahri arguing with each other. He waved at me and motioned for me to sit next to him.
"I told you already! We don't have anymore bananas~! And i'm not going to buy it for you again. Most of our monthly expenses is spent on bananas! And we don't even eat bananas that much!"
"B- B- But Ahri~! Please! I'm starving!"
"Geez! What is with you monkeys and-you know what, forget it... Lin!? Kyaaaaaaaaaa~!" She suddenly shouted and tackled me to the ground. That... hurts. I winced from the landing and she nuzzle my cheeks affectionately, her soft tails wagging from side to side in excitement. I'm only gone for an hour and a half... Apparently, she's using me as an escape to their conversation. Sly, Ahri-chan... how sly...
"I didn't leave for that long..."
"I know, but staying here with this bananas obsessed idiot is just unbearable Linnyyyyyyyyy~" She wined, I smiled and stroked her hair reassuringly. If I was in her position I guess I would feel the same way, no offense Wukong... I glanced at my side to see Master Yi grinning widely at me. I flashed a smile back at him and shook my head. "What took you so longgg~?" She asked. I sat up straight with her at my side and Master Yi at my other side and hummed in thought. Was it really that long? Maybe waiting for something to happen felt longer than doing something.
"They're very nice individuals, and we chat so much I guess that we forgot the time." I said honestly. It was nice to converse with people that are willing to talk even though they barely know me at all. It was a nice change of pace.
"Wow seriously? I'm so jealous~!" Ahri's ears twitched continuously as we speak. She must be really excited to do some other things after this. I wonder what're we going to do. Practice have been delayed for now since I have to get to know my neighbors. It'll resume after this week of-course. That's my main reason for being here after all.
"Let's go to Irelia now. And then we'll visit a few shops around here." Master Yi stood up, followed by Ahri and Wukong, -which was on the ground a few moments ago- Master Yi offered his hand to help me up. I gingerly accepted his open hand and use it as leverage to pull myself up.
"Thank you." When we made our way to leave the Kinkou Monastery, I stopped at my tracks and turned around suddenly. I don't know why but I did, I didn't see anything that was unique for a moment there. However, when I stared up at the tall building, I saw the four Ninjas silently stood on the gateway. Each of them had both arms across their chest, one of their hands also was curled up in a hand sign with their pinkies and ring finger closed, and the rest was straight up**. I understood it was a sign of salutation and I silently bowed my head at them. It was nice of them to personally come to say goodbye. I understood it was also a sign of saying ''come back soon'' and I smiled, waving at them one last time before turning my back and quickly running to the others.
I'll come back for sure. Ninjas are powerful people, but they're humans. And humans have emotions, they wanted companions too just as much as I do. But their profession requires silence from regular people's eyes. I bet it gets lonely at many times, and that they were happy at my sincerity when I offered my friendship and so they opened up to me. Even though i'm completely foreign, I know that they can sense when one's being honest or is lying, and thus results in a new-found friendship. I'll be there for them, for anyone who needs some companionship in their life. The world can be a cruel place... so I want to make life better for as many people as I can. I guess that it's in my blood to help people. But i'm not complaining. Because even though I might get nothing back, I know that there are people that are waiting for me to come home. People and individuals that appreciates me, that's enough. I know that I am not alone.
For now.
A/N: FUCKING, this has to be one of the longest chapters yet lol. Training doesn't start this fic, but it will next and stuff will happen.
You see, Lin came before Zed and the Orders of the Shadows was formed. And so that explains why Zed was still around the Kinkou order. Yes I research my things before making fanfiction. It's actually very interesting for me huehuehue. Oh yes, I plan to have her finish her training and taking the long way back to her home. Thus beginning our journey to various places in Valoran. I won't tell you when it starts though you'll have to read to find out. Lin's character development should be added more in the future, but as of now she's a kind heart-ed person that are willing to do anything to make people happy. Of-course she have a temper but the fanfiction world is not ready for that, yet anyway xD Like you know that feeling when a really nice person just started to flip out? Yeah, you weren't ready for that was you.
**Have you ever watched Naruto? Yeah that's when like the basic ninjutsu hand sign thing you get what i'm talking about :u IF put in a simpler word its the thing Shen does in his ult
