Hai, a new chapter, a new day. I tried to get this chapter a little longer for one of my reviewers, SuperGuest. Just to put this out there, the last chapter was a filler chapter, because of my writers block. Oh and this chapter is kind of like a Christmas/Hanukka(is that how you spell it?) present, I don't know what religion you guys practice so...
Yea, so merry/happy (insert winter holiday here)!
I'm trying to use line breaks instead of what I used in the last few chapters, so tell me which you prefer the most! And this is going to be a very weird chapter...
This Castle looks like its bigger on the inside, I swear to Grambi if Dimentio gets us lost...
"We're almost to his chambers, try to stay lucid, I fear I might lose the rest of my sanity, lost half of it on the way...", he hunched over slightly, giving us this odd look, scaring O'Chunks a bit by the looks of it. Mimi and Chunks had been goofing off the entire walk, giving me and Dimentio a headache. I have been around him enough to tell he is in pain, but I think there are multiple contributors.
I lean over to Dimentio, who is on my right and whisper,"Your back hurts doesn't it?" He visibly flinched at the thought,"I can see you're in pain, when we get back to the castle, I am properly going to bandage you", He opens his mouth so say something", and don't tell me you can do it yourself. You're barely walking.", backing down, his shoulders slump. It's odd to see his face, mismatched eyes and all, ones a bright yellow, while the other is a dull purple.
We walk up to this large elaborate door, the frame is solid gold, but the door was a dark wood, I've never seen. O'Chunks only comes up to the door handle,"Stay here I'll retrieve him..." And he walks up to the door, and the markings on his face spark, turning from black to a bright purple, and his dulled purple eye lights up to the same color as his markings. The door is encased by the purple energy that Dimentio was summoning and it opens, revealing a black abyss. Dimentio walks it, seemingly enough, he looks as if he loses his confidence on walking through the door. I never thought I'd ever see him look that scared...
He walks on through and after a few moments, we hear a soft voice,"Master sir, sorry t-to awaken you, but w-we h-h-have visitors, they wish to speak to you, sir..." His constant stuttering, scares me slightly, but I keep a strong face. I hear shuffling around before Dimentio emerges, and the door closes, causing him to jump. He's so pale, his face looks tired, his eyes look older than the rest of him. I walk up to him and pick up his clammy hands,"Don't worry," I opt for whispering,"You'll be able to go home soon." He looks me in the eye, looking for truth and sincerity most likely, and relaxes a bit.
The door opens to show the horrid man who hurt Dimentio, his voice is just like the one in my vision through the mask,"Why have you come here, whatever you need is else where." His voice is almost devilish, his cold black eyes striking fear into Mimi, who looks like she's about to cry, the sight is disheartening, but I stand my ground."We already found what we're looking for, and we came to give you a warning from Jaydes, of the Underwhere. Leave him be, or your soul will forever be in Hell." My warning gave him a curious look. I hand him the paper from Jaydes, and what happens next was quite disturbing...
He laughed.
His laugh was cold and heartless,"What you expect me of all people, to be afraid of the queen of Hell.", He then looks directly at Dimentio, who looks like he's about to blow, his anger was pouring in waves, his eyes were slowly turning red. I see where his anger is coming from. He's now standing by poor Mimi who is crying, trying to calm the shape-shifter down. Then the cause said,"He's mine, he will always be here, he is too valuable to give up."
Then the Lady spoke up, and what she said was most surprising,"This child, has more value than your mere existence. I have heard stories of care and love from his friends. I do not believe that you would risk your existence making him angry...", her soft melodious voice seemed to strike a chord.
"Why would that be, my fair maiden?", He said with a hint of anger in his tone.
"We come from the same tribe, I happen to remember meeting him when he was young. One of his ancestors, was one of the alchemists who developed pixls. His magic is why you want to keep him so much, and it will be your downfall." She was cryptic the entire time, shadows covered her eyes, and did I see a smirk upon that dainty face?
Then we learned what she meant. Dimentio had taken a couple of steps away from Mimi, who was crying harder than she was before. His eyes were glowing red, hold more anger than I've seen on anyone in my long life. His hands were engulfed in red, fire like energy, and looked savage and his fingers were sharp and pointy like claws.
"When he was young, he had a terrible temper, but not about what any child would get that angry over. Whenever someone had picked on his friends, or hurt his family, he would go into a trance state. Only when the problem was resolved would he come out of it. And you are to be that problem."
And with that said, he lunged at the large man, yanking him from out of the door frame, and into the hallway, which looked to be no small feat. Where he grabbed the large man by the neck, blood started to drip, and then it turned into full on bleeding. Then the energy that he had collected, threw him down the corridor, landing face-first to the stone, and his place reminded Dimentio of how many times he was in the same position.
"How does it feel to have your forehead on the floor like one of your slaves. I've been there before, and I know it's not fun. but what I'm about to do will be all the punishments, and all the days I had to work even though any other would fall and black out. You will feel all the anguish I have ever felt at your hand, and only then when I finish will I send you to Jaydes, where she'll evict more punishments, will you finally feel the weight of your sins!", His voice was echoed, and ominous, and his speech seemed to knock all the confidence out of the overlord.
Then a high-pitched, pig-like squeal filled the air as the energy seemed to absorb into his skin. Dimentio lowered himself to the floor, and then fell as he passed out. I rushed over to keep him from falling."I believe we have all underestimated him, even himself." The count commented as he picked up Dimentio from my arms."Also, we should deliver him to Jaydes, and go home, Dimentio would probably prefer to wake up in a familiar environment."
With that we did our deed and went home. Lady Timpani went to put Mimi to bed, as she's stopped crying for a while. Before the Count took Dimentio to his room,"Nastatia, would you mind preparing us some tea, while I bring him to his room?"
"Not at all, Count. Just for you and the Lady?"
"Yes, thank you."
"Not a problem, that is one of the reasons why I'm here."
I took the young one, who was older than he looked, to his room. He groaned as I laid him down on the bed and made sure to pull the covers over him. While, I noticed that he was running a fever, a bad one at that. I went to ask Timpani for insight,"He also got sick for some reason, after the attacks, he always got over it quickly so, there isn't much to worry about. Just get a cold wash cloth and try to keep the fever down."
I went to Nastatia for the wash cloth, and my tea, she shook he head at what I told her. I brought both items to Dimentio's room, as well as a glass and pitcher of cold, iced water. When I arrived, I saw that he was sitting up and rubbing his forehead."Lay back down, you'll make yourself feel worse." It seems I startled him a bit as his eyes rose to see who was talking to him.
I woke up to my room at Castle Bleck, I feet so at home here. One of the first things I realize, is I'm running a fever, which I expected this to happen, with that little stunt I pulled at that place. The second thing I notice is that everywhere except my bed and some spots on the floor, which look like several pairs of foot steps, was covered in dust. The temporal displacement must have set in. Though it is nice, no, fantastic, to be back here, this is where I belong, I know it is.
"Lay back down, you'll make yourself feel worse.", I heard as I started to rub my head, to rid myself of the sweat. I looked up to see who was talking to me. It was the Count.
"I-"
"Hush and do as I say, I have some water, I'm positive your parched." He started smirking, half way through the sentence. I comply with his request, and lay down, he was right as well, I am parched, I haven't drank in a while. I pull the covers back over me, and leave my arms over the comforter. He brings the chair from my desk next to the bed, and pours some of the cold water on the cloth, and places it. I instantly relax, almost falling asleep in the process. To bad it was almost, not did fall asleep, I tried to but I just couldn't, which aggravated me slightly.
"Count?" Sweet Jaydes, I sound like a frog.
"Hm"
"I'm still thirsty, I don't absorb water through my skin..."
He laughs, he really laughs. Then I join in as well.
"I can see that you don't." He says as we calm down. I sit up so I don't choke on the water, and he hands me the glass. I have the glass in one hand, and I'm holding the cloth in the other, which the cloth is quickly heating to room temperature. I hand the cloth and the glass back to him. And then my stomach grumbles, and I remember how long I have been without food, four days, four fucking days without food. As a punishment. My jolly face turns into a frown.
Timpani and I head down to Dimentio's room with a tray of sandwiches, and some juice. I remember Dimentio saying once that he hated carbonated beverages, otherwise I would've brought that Dr Pepper two liter that we had left.
We reach the door to see Dimentio tracing the designs on his sheet, and the count soaking the cloth. Dimentio's face was red from fever, he didn't look to happy either.
"We brought some sandwiches and juice for when you are hungry.", Dimentio looks up, startlement was etched upon his face.
"Thank you Nastatia, Lady Timpany." He replied, bowing his head in gratitude. His face softened, and then turned into a smile,"It has been a while since I've consumed your cooking, Nastatia." I'm sure I blushed a little, I looked away for a moment, and entered his room. I set the tray on the table beside his bed, and notice how much the bedding reminded me of him.
"Should I retrieve the others, I'm sure they would love to get reaquainted with you, dear." Timpani said, giving Dimentio a motherly smile.
"That would be wonderful, Timpani, I'll join you on the walk." Said Blumiere as he rose, and they both left the room. I sat on the bed and checked his temperature, before he sat up.
"It's so odd to hear him talk in first person, I mean really." He commented while giving me this mischievous smile.
"I know, just the other day I heard Mimi ask him to change back to his former way of speech. It must be so odd for her also."
"Did she grow or what, She's almost to my shoulders."
"Yea, she's matured a lot too, but her immaturity from before still lingers."
"I saw." A moment passes and then we both started to laugh. It was good to hear him laugh again, not the old creepy laugh, but one of his genuine ones, that once he started laughing, everyone in the room was too, even the Count. I made a mental not to try to get him to laugh again.
After we sobered up, everyone else had returned. They looked at us, shocked would be the only thing to describe their facial expressions.
"What?" Dimentio raised his voice slightly.
"Nothing."
"..." He looked at them, looking slightly angered and they all stepped back. I guess I was the only one who saw the joke. Dimentio and I shared a glance and started to laugh again. And then they finally got it and joined in. It was really nice to see the jester back to his antics.
Well that was one of the longest chapters I've ever wrote...
In the first sentence I wrote has a reference, anyone who gets it, tell me.
Also remember to review, I am a new writer and I need critique!
I've also reposted all of my chapters, including this one, for grammar and spelling mistakes, so that wasn't really an update by the time this came up, and I am working on the next chapter!
Peace Y'all!
