Hello everyone, I am so so so sorry that I have left you hanging for so long. I am definitely going to continue the story, I have just been so so busy with work and college but I have met all my deadlines and finally have the Christmas holidays so here you go. I give you chapter four! Enjoy!
Scarlett's POV
I felt like I was in a boat, rocking to and fro on a dark lake. My body was numb and the only sensation I could feel was a slight pressure on my ribs. Suddenly, I felt myself fall off of the boat and plummet into the icy water below; everything was black.
I awoke and bolted upright, gasping for air in a panic. I felt a pair of strong arms grasp my shoulders and gently push me back down on the soft pillows. I couldn't focus on anything and all I could hear was a soft, familiar voice.
'Sshh, it's okay Scarlett.' The voice said 'Calm down for me, you're okay'.
Suddenly reality snapped back into place and I remembered what had happened. The voice belonged to Dr Carlisle Cullen. I stopped fighting his grip out of weakness and sunk down into the pillows whilst looking at my surroundings.
I was in a house, not the hospital. The room was immaculate and very well furnished with expensive looking art hanging on the walls and a large bookcase with hundreds of books, some old and some new. The door was closed and I was on a collapsible gurney with wires attached to me again. I wondered why I was not in the hospital and where I actually was. There was a small table on wheels beside me which had some medical equipment on top of it. I glanced nervously to Carlisle. He was looking at me with concern and compassion.
'W...Where am I?' I croaked out, my throat dry and hoarse.
Carlisle stood, tilted my head forward with his hand and held a flask of cool water to my lips.
'Here, drink, this will make you feel a bit better' he soothed.
After I finished drinking, he sat back down in the chair beside my bed.
'You are at my home' He informed me calmly. 'I felt that the hospital was a bit too much for you and since we could find no record of you having any family I got permission to take you into my care.'
I gawped at him.
'I have no family?...'
He looked at me sympathetically.
'No sweetheart, we couldn't even find a record of you. It's like you appeared out of nowhere.' He stated.
Then I realised that it was not Carlisle that was in my world, it was I who was in Carlisle's world. So he never was going to go to the police, he had obviously never heard of anything I had told him. I felt a bit more at ease.
'I...I guess I did appear out of nowhere. I don't even know how I got here...' I said sadly.
Carlisle gave my hand a reassuring pat.
'Don't worry, we will work it out together.' He smiled.
I stayed staring down at the bed sheets sorrowfully.
'Now may I check your injuries? You took a nasty fall while running away from me...' He said with a slightly stern tone while glancing at me admonishingly, before checking my ribs.
I glanced up at him, then looked down feeling like a small child who had just misbehaved.
'I um... I'm sorry.' I stammered feeling embarrassed.
His face softened.
'Might I ask why you ran away?' He asked curiously.
'I thought...' I started but didn't want to continue, I didn't want him to know what I was worried about. I stared down and twiddled my thumbs.
'You thought what?' He asked softly whilst prodding my ribcage.
'Nothing' I mumbled.
He paused what he was doing and looked directly at me.
'Scarlett.' He said with a bit more force.
I sighed.
'I thought you were getting the police.'
He looked momentarily confused then realisation swept over his face...
