"I'm a brother!" AJ exclaimed bursting through the front doors of the school. It was the next day and all the excitement from the first day vanished leaving a bunch of bored students, but apparently not AJ.
"We already know that." Lazarus said leaning against his locker.
"I'm a brother again! Shouldn't you be happy for me?" AJ asked getting off the ground and walking over to him.
"You think I would, but really I'm not." Lazarus said with a smirk as AJ rolled his eyes. Tyler, Ruby, and Onyx skated through the entrance and down the hall as people jumped out of their way. Bolt was walking down the hall with Hailey when Tyler, Ruby, and Onyx barreled down the hall. Bolt and Hailey continued to talk as they phased through Tyler, Ruby, and Onyx without blinking an eye.
"Why are you walking me to class?" Hailey asked looking at Bolt.
"What? Can't a brother walk his little sister to her class?" Bolt asked innocently as Hailey rolled her eyes.
"A brother can. You? I have my doubts." Hailey said as she entered her classroom closing the door on Bolt. Bolt chuckled lightly when Flash skidded to a stop next to him kicking up some dust around them.
"Hey, what's up?" Flash smiled as the dust around him cleared.
"You need to learn to stop without kicking up so much dust." Bolt said fanning the dust away from him as Flash shrugged. "You do know we only have a minute until the bell rings." Bolt said looking at his watch as he pulled down his sunglasses over his eyes.
"Race you." Flash challenged as Bolt smirked.
"Bolt wins." Shawn said walking up to them.
"Stupid future predictor." Flash mumbled as he crossed his arms. Bolt and Shawn laughed before he looked down to check his watch.
"Bell's going to ring in forty-five seconds, you guys better go." Shawn said with complete ease since his class was near the area they were in. They shrugged before speeding off in opposite directions making Shawn laugh and shake his head. Bolt made it to his class with time to spare and he saw Chrissy sitting there with her head down reading. Bolt walked over and picked up the book.
"Ah…I see you are a Harry Potter fan." Bolt said turning the book for the cover to face her.
"Yes, what's it to you?" She sneered reaching for the book. He pulled it back with a smug look on his face. Chrissy glared and got out of her seat. "Give it back, Bolt!" She said as she tried to reach for it, Bolt held it back farther.
"I'm sorry I think I'm too stupid to understand." He said in a mocking, stupid-sounding voice and Chrissy fumed.
"Give me my book!" Chrissy shouted as she stood on her toes, but Bolt held it above his head. Since he was much taller than Chrissy she had little chance of actually reaching it, but that didn't stop her. Quickly though, Chrissy lost her balance and fell forward into Bolt and they both landed on the ground with Chrissy on top of Bolt. She rubbed her head in pain and when she opened her eyes she was met with bright turquoise ones. Her cheeks turned red as Bolt's turned pink. The class started to whisper as the teacher cleared his throat. Bolt and Chrissy looked up to see him glaring at them.
"Are you two quite finished?" The teacher asked as Chrissy got up from the floor and dusted herself off. Bolt did the same as they both nodded. They took their seats and Chrissy glared at Bolt who smirked. He held her book up and her jaw dropped angrily. But soon an idea popped into her mind and she smiled deviously. At the end of the class Bolt walked out skimming through the book to see what the big hype was about. Chrissy walked over to him and pressed him against a locker with her body pressed to his. He stared at her dumbfounded and blushing.
"W-wha—"He stuttered but Chrissy stopped him by putting her finger to his lips.
"Sshh. You talk too much." She said as he continued to stare at her with wide-eyes. She started to move her fingers up his arm in a walking motion as she looked at him. "I see you like my book." She said and Bolt nodded. "You see I really like that book and it's one of my favorites. Can you please give it back to me?" She asked huskily moving her face a little closer to his. Her lips were right in front of his and he could stare right into her hazel-blue colored eyes.
'Holy shit, when did she become hot?' Bolt thought as his heart drummed against his chest. He handed her the book dumbly and she smiled brightly at him. She pulled herself away and walked away happily and all Bolt could do was stay pressed against the locker and watch her walk away with a sway of her hips.
"Dude, Bolt, are you okay?" Shade asked walking up to him. Bolt was panting and had a crazed look in his eyes that freaked Shade out a little. Bolt felt a familiar feeling at the pit of his stomach and quickly took off for the bathroom.
"Clean thoughts! Cold water!" He yelled as Shade just watched him run away with understanding, but a little confusion.
"Huh. Thought he would've had a handle on that by now." Shade said to himself when Suzy appeared beside him.
"Handle on what?" Suzy asked. Shade turned and faced her before smiling.
"Nothing, it's a guy thing." Shade said with a shrug.
"What? Because I'm a girl, I can't know?" She asked raising an eyebrow.
"Believe me, you don't want to know." Shade told her.
"Fine, then the next time you ask me something, don't expect an answer." Suzy said as she pouted playfully. Shade laughed as Suzy undid her pout.
"Are you in Mr. Hanks' drama class?" Shade asked as Suzy looked at him confused.
"Yeah why?" She asked as he smiled.
"You should know that you guys are going to do Romeo and Juliet." He said smiling as Suzy's eyes widened.
"What? I don't want to do that!" She said as Shade laughed.
"Don't worry just bomb the audition and he'll make you work with costumes or make-up." Shade said as Suzy relaxed. "What's the big deal of being in Romeo and Juliet?" Shade asked as they started to walk.
"I don't want to kiss any of the guys in my class." Suzy said as her face wrinkled in disgust.
"Who says you'll even be Juliet?" Shade asked teasingly.
"So, you're saying I can't be Juliet?" Suzy said putting her hands on her hips. Shade was about to talk, but AJ grabbed Suzy's arm and walked away. "Let go of me Aaron!" Suzy said ripping her away from him.
"No I'm walking you to your class and that's final!" AJ said grabbing her wrist again and walking off.
"My class is that way, Einstein!" Suzy said pointing the opposite direction. AJ stopped looked back and started walking in the other direction. As Suzy passed by Shade she stared at him apologetically and he just chuckled. Roddy was walking down the hall with his earphones on as he bopped his head to the music. He then spotted Lilac and he paused his music and walked over to her.
"Hey Doll." Roddy said leaning on the locker next to Lilac's.
"Hi." She said shyly, but she smiled.
"American History next?" He asked as she looked at him bewildered.
"How did you know that?" She asked quietly as Roddy smiled.
"There's a lot of things I know. Plus you just grabbed your American History book from your locker." He said as Lilac giggled softly. "I love that laugh." He murmured as her eyes widened.
"What?" She looked at him blushing. He mentally slapped himself for letting that slip out.
"I said I dove that half." He said as she just raised an eyebrow. Roddy let out a nervous laugh and she decided to just drop it. They made it to her class and she turned to him.
"Thanks for walking me, Roddy." Lilac said as he smiled.
"It's my pleasure." He told her as she smiled and walked into her classroom. He leaned against the wall and sighed.
"Smooth Hedgehog." He muttered to himself before he walked to his next class. Later on, Shade was walking with Chrissy as they headed towards their Honors Chemistry class.
"Do you even know what you did to Bolt?" Shade asked as Chrissy rolled her eyes.
"Please, I'm sure he's fine." Chrissy scoffed as Shade rolled his eyes and whispered into Chrissy's ear. "Stop lying, I didn't do that to him!" Chrissy exclaimed.
"Uh…yeah you did. I was right there when you left." Shade said as Chrissy laughed.
"Well he didn't give me my book." She said crossing her arms.
"You should be lucky he's my partner in this class." He said as Chrissy rolled her eyes.
"Please it's bad enough I have every class except Power Practice with him." Chrissy said as they walked into the Chemistry lab.
When lunch finally rolled around, Ginger was walking to her usual table when Onyx skated passed her making her lose her balance. Her food flew up into the air as she started to fall backwards towards the ground. She was preparing herself for some major embarrassment, but suddenly felt an arm around her waist and her back was pressed against a chest. She watched as he caught her tray and all her food landed on it without much spillage. She looked up to see it was Derek who caught her. She blushed lightly as he straightened her up and handed her tray. He nodded his head once before walking away. She turned around to see almost the entire cafeteria staring at her. She blushed brighter and ran to her table where Serenity and Julian were staring at her in shock.
"What?" She asked.
"I can't believe Derek did that for you. He never talks to anyone besides AJ and Lazarus." Julian said as Ginger rolled her eyes.
"He didn't say anything to me." Ginger said as Serenity and Julian's eyebrows shot up.
"He didn't?" Serenity asked as Ginger nodded. "That's weird. He saves you from falling and getting all your food dumped on you and he just walks off without saying anything." Serenity said as Julian started to think. Ginger didn't pay attention as she looked in the direction that Derek walked off and sighed. Lunch soon finished and Andrew was running down the halls trying to get to his class on time, but he was stopped by Hydro.
"Where are you to in such as rush?" Hydro asked keeping up at his pace easily.
"Ms. Oleander says if I'm late for her class one more time she's giving me detention." Andrew said running down the halls.
"It's only the second day of school!" Hydro exclaimed.
"I know! I already can tell she's going to be a bitch." Andrew said as he turned the corner and knocked into someone. He fell on his butt and rubbed his head.
"Why don't you watch where you're going?" The female shouted at Andrew. Andrew opened his eyes to see a beautiful pink hedgehog standing in front of him.
"Sorry. Will do next time." He said as he ran away with a smile. Ebony rolled her eyes as she fixed her outfit and started to walk to her class again.
"Can't these people ever watch where they're going?" Ebony muttered as she entered her class.
"We can't help it." Lazarus said as he leaned back in his chair. Ebony rolled her eyes and sat in her seat.
"What do you want Lazarus?" Ebony asked annoyed.
"You're Tsui's friend, right?" He asked leaning forward on his desk.
"Tsunami? Yeah, what about it?" She asked looking at him with her fiery eyes.
"Nothing, just wanted to know." He said leaning back in his seat with a smirk.
"I know you have to be up to something. What is it?" Ebony asked turning her body to face him.
"Well that's for me to know and you to find out." He chuckled as Ebony rolled her eyes.
"Second grade much?" She said as Lazarus still had that stupid smirk on his face. Ebony was about to say something else, but the teacher walked in. The rest of the week didn't bring anything out of the normal…well as normal as a school filled with power-ridden students could be. Shade and Bolt were running back to the Solari house following Serenity, Ebony, and Hydro and being followed by Flash, Hailey, and Tsunami.
"Why are all of us going to your house again?" Shade asked as Bolt shrugged his shoulders.
"I guess our parents wanted to hang out and have us spend more time together." Bolt said as Shade rolled his eyes. A few seconds later they were at Bolt and Hailey's house—mansion.
"Mom we're home!" Hailey shouted walking into the house. Winter, Midnight, and Amy came down the stairs to see all their children by the door.
"Kids you should know that all of our friends and their kids are coming as well." Amy said as all of them groaned.
"Why? That's like fifty-eight people in one house!" Hailey complained.
"I'm sure we can fit everybody and why are you all complaining some of them are your friends." Winter said as the kids all mumbled or grunted annoyed.
"You are so embarrassing when you're all together!" Serenity said as the mothers rolled their eyes.
"Well deal with it!" Midnight said putting her hands on her hips. All the kids dragged themselves to the living room.
"Can we at least invite our other friends?" Serenity called out from the living room.
"That's fine!" Amy called out. About two hours later everybody started to arrive and it really was a lot. Reese, Luna, Sean, Lauren, and Ginger showed up with Todd, Jillian, Julian, AJ, Suzy, their seven year old twins Alex and Juliana, and their newborn baby girl Alena.
"Aw…she's adorable!" Luna cooed as she looked at the precious baby blue hedgehog with bright lavender eyes. She was wrapped in a pale yellow blanket as Jillian carried her. The twins were watching all the grown-ups talk and decided to see what the teenagers were doing. Alex was a baby blue hedgehog with peach streaks and gold eyes. Juliana however was a peach hedgehog with baby blue streaks and lavender eyes. The doorbell rang and Rouge, Knuckles, Brice, Ruby, and Onyx were at the door. Sonic and Rebecca shortly arrived with Roddy and Ivy.
"Sonic!" Spark called out as he went to greet his friend.
"What's up Spark? Bolt still beating you?" Sonic asked as Spark rolled his eyes.
"He wishes." Spark scoffed. The doorbell rang again and Shadow, Amy, Serenity, Shade, and Ebony arrived having went home to change. Static, Midnight, Hydro, Tsunami, and Flash came soon after having done the same.
"Whoa this house is really filling up." Static said looking around the house.
"And we still have room to spare." Spark bragged. Static rolled his eyes as he went to talk to Shadow. James, Nikki, Derek, and Lilac arrived along with Tails, Cream, Tyler, and Chrissy.
"I told you to leave your board at home." Cream said in her sweet voice, but it still held some authority.
"Mom you know I can't go anywhere without it. It's like a third leg." Tyler said as Cream rolled her eyes.
"Fine only this one time. Please don't skate in the house and break anything." Cream said as Tyler smiled and nodded. Cream kissed him on the cheek and watched him walk away to the living room with Chrissy. Elijah, Arielle, Nicole, and Andrew soon arrived followed by Jerry, Alchemy, Conner, and Liecy. Silver, Blaze, Topaz, Amber, and their one-month-old son Tyson arrived with Tyson sleeping in Silver's arm.
"Aw…that just makes me want to have another baby." Winter said looking at the sleeping silver hedgehog. He had five short quills on his forehead like his father with two in the back, but he had lavender streaks in them.
"No way! I'm not going through the dipper stage again." Spark shook his head as Winter rolled her eyes. In the living room all the teenagers were talking amongst their friends.
"Yeah, I invited Lazarus to come. He should be here in a few minutes." AJ said to Bolt as Tsunami overheard.
"You invited him?" Tsunami exclaimed glaring at AJ.
"Uh…yeah?" AJ said as Tsunami sighed clearly annoyed. The bell rang and she could already tell it was him.
"Hey guys, what's up?" Lazarus asked walking in casually. Tsunami turned sharply and walked away from him.
"What's wrong with her?" Bolt asked as Lazarus smirked.
"I just have that effect on girls." Lazarus said as Bolt and AJ rolled their eyes.
"Please I get more girls than you. When was your last girlfriend?" AJ said as Lazarus glared at him. Ginger was talking to Julian when she saw Derek walk in.
"No way! What is he doing here?" Ginger asked covering her face to hide from him.
"Didn't you know he's James' son?" Julian asked as she looked at him wide-eyed. "You didn't know?" Julian exclaimed as Ginger kept looking at him with the same expression. "See, Mom and Dad don't believe me, but this is just proof that there's too many of us!"
"Oh my God, what if he sees me? I'm probably just that weird klutzy girl to him." Ginger groaned.
"Don't worry he probably won't talk to you." Julian said as Ginger looked over to Derek. He was talking to AJ and Lazarus, but his lips were barely moving. She guessed he must have been speaking quietly. All the parents walked in as the kids immediately stopped talking.
"Okay, all of you kids get upstairs." Reese said as everybody groaned.
"Stop complaining. Just go." Todd said as Juliana and Alex walked next to their parents and stood by them as Alex held his Mom's hand and Juliana held Todd's. All the teenagers stomped out of the living room and upstairs into the game room.
"Dude, you have DDR?" Tyler asked as he walked over to the machine.
"We have every single game imaginable." Bolt said as he walked over to Tyler.
"Ruby c'mon, let's show them how it's done." Tyler said as he jumped on the machine. Ruby soon hopped on and they went on the expert level. Some stood and watched as they danced levels away and some went to play their own games.
"I want a rematch!" Shade yelled after Flash beat him in air hockey.
"Fine, but you'll only lose again." Flash said as he started the game again. Hailey was looking around the room quite bored when she thought of a brilliant idea. She walked over to the switch that controlled all the games and flipped it. All the games turned off and everybody backed away from them as they disappeared into the walls or floor.
"Let's make this a real party." Hailey said as she turned off the lights and replaced them with flashing colorful lights. Music filled the room as everybody shrugged their shoulders and started to dance…well everybody except Derek. He didn't feel comfortable dancing and so he just stood in the corner listening to his own music. He got bored enough and decided to slip away from the dance "party." He was walking down the hall and he could hear all the parents talking.
"Whatever James. I'm fast enough without all your wind." Derek heard Sonic say. He entered a room, a guest room he guessed, and saw it had a balcony. He decided he needed some air and walked outside. He was a little thrown off by a sudden gust of wind, but he shrugged it off and pulled his hood up as he watched the day become night.
"Thank you." A voice said coming from behind him. He turned around to see Ginger standing behind him hiding her body by wrapping her arms around herself.
"For what?" He asked softly.
"From falling in the cafeteria and ending up with my lunch on me." She said as she stood next to him. He turned his head to look at her and she smiled softly.
"It was no big deal." He said leaning on the railing.
"But you still did it. You could have easily let me fall and embarrass myself, but you didn't." She told him. "I just don't understand why." She said softly. A sudden cold breeze came by and Ginger shivered. It didn't go unnoticed and Derek pulled off his hoodie and put it around Ginger. "I really don't need it." She said trying to shrug it off, but Derek stopped her.
"It's okay, keep it. I'm used to the cold." He told her before lifting his hand up. She watched as his eyes turned ice blue and his hand became surrounded by icy wind. When the wind disappeared a rose made out of ice laid in his hand. Ginger gasped and stared at him in awe and the beautiful etched rose. It almost looked real with all the small details and etchings in it.
"It's amazing," She whispered.
"I didn't want to see you fall." Derek told her as she stared back up at him. "I usually stay out of other people's business, but you…" He paused and stared at her with bright emerald eyes. "You're different." He murmured. Derek placed the rose on the railing and grabbed hold of Ginger's hand. Slowly they started to lean towards each other and Ginger felt her eyes close.
"Where have you been?" AJ exclaimed startling the two of them and Ginger was quick to take a step back. AJ was totally oblivious to what was going on and just continued to smile at Derek. Derek sighed and let his hand dropped back to his side. "C'mon! The party is just getting started!" AJ said as Derek walked out with Ginger following him. They all walked back into the game room or "party" room. Everybody was dancing in every kind of style. Bolt got down on the floor break-dancing as Shade was performing constant flips next to him. Tsunami was having fun dancing with Topaz when the last person she ever wanted to see appeared next to her.
"Nice moves Tusi." Lazarus said as Tsunami stopped dancing and looked at him.
"What do you want Lazarus?" Tsunami asked. Topaz smirked and walked off leaving them alone.
"A dance." He said.
"Why would I want to dance with you?" She said more shocked than annoyed.
"Just dance with me no strings attached." He said as Tsunami looked at him skeptically. She sighed and finally agreed to it. Lazarus led her out of the room and she looked at him confused.
"Where are we going?" She asked him and he stopped in a secluded part of the house and pulled his phone out. He quietly played a slow song and smiled down at her.
"I didn't think you'd want to dance with me in that kind of way back in there. So I brought you here." He told her. She looked at him skeptically, but she proceeded to wrap her arms around his neck keeping as much space as possible between them. Lazarus placed his hands on her hips as they started to sway to the music. "Can I ask you something…seriously?" He asked as he looked down at her.
"You can ask, but that doesn't mean I have to answer." Tsunami told him.
"Why did we break apart? We used to be really great friends." Lazarus murmured. Tsunami stared at the ground sadly and a little surprised that he was asking her this. She sighed and looked back at him.
"This was on you Lazarus. Ever since we started high school you became a cocky and arrogant jerk. You joined football and suddenly became too busy for me. Every time I did talk to you, you just brushed me off or ignored me. I saw that I wasn't important to you so you stopped becoming important to me." She told him and he sighed and dropped his head.
"I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry, Tusi. I didn't want this to happen especially to us. I always believed that I had to be over confident and popular to even survive high school. But now I can see that all I did was push you away." He whispered sadly as Tsunami looked up at him. "The truth is, that you were my best friend and I miss you. I miss us. I was such an idiot to let myself treat you that way and if you don't want to talk to me anymore, then I understand. But I'm sorry and I'll never stop being sorry for what I did to you." He told her earnestly as she just stared at him.
"You mean that?" Tsunami asked quietly.
"Yeah, I really do." Lazarus murmured. Tsunami didn't know what to say. She had built him up in her head as this asshole that she didn't want anything to do with. But now, he was apologetic and if she were being honest, he's been making an effort since last year ended to talk to her again, but she kept pushing him away. "C'mon," He said bringing Tsunami out of her thoughts. "We should head back inside." He said as he turned the music off on his phone and they both headed back to the game room. Once they were in the room, Lazarus started to make his way back to AJ and Derek, but Tsunami grabbed his wrist stopping him.
"Lazarus," Tsunami said as she looked at him. "Thank you." She told him honestly and he smiled at her softly. She smiled back as they stared at each other in the eyes. However, the door suddenly burst open and the music stopped with the sound of a record scratch.
"Party's over! Who's the boy that was making out with my daughter?" Static screamed as Lazarus froze and Tsunami pushed him away.
"Dad I wasn't making out with anyone!" Tsunami yelled as she walked up to her dad.
"Then explain to me why Reese told me he saw you in the future kissing some guy up here?" Static said as Tsunami blushed. Was she actually going to kiss him?
"Dad, I swear I didn't kiss anyone." Tsunami told him as Static looked around the room.
"Hydro you're supposed to watch out for your sister!" He said as Hydro smacked himself. Static didn't bring anymore embarrassment luckily, especially for Flash, as everyone and their parents began to leave. Lazarus thanked Spark and Winter for allowing him to come over before heading out. Tsunami saw him at the front door and with the rest of her family in the car, she quickly ran over and hugged him. Lazarus was surprised by her actions, but quickly returned her hug.
"Bye Lazi." Tsunami told him when she pulled away and ran back to her family's car. Lazarus smiled as he watched her leave, but more importantly, he smiled because he called him by the nickname she used to always call him. This was a good sign.
