Me and the Matthews

Maya's life has been a roller coaster ride luckily she had her friends to keep it balanced. She had been through the ups and down's to much that anyone her age should be able to handle but some how she did. Was it her friends, Shawn Hunter, The Matthews that helped? Maya wasn't sure all she new was that she was in for a bumpy ride.

4. Dances and Detentions

A/n just thought I would let you know that I was able to do a longer chapter today because it was a week end and I will probably do long ones on weekends. There are some Rucas and Joshaya moments in this please review and let me know what you think.

Chapter 4:

Maya was sitting at school with Farkle he was like her next best thing to Riley because she was off with Lucas a lot since they both liked each other but wouldn't admit it. Maya was fine with it she was happy for her friend she just wished that she could get her advice on something.

''What's up?'' Farkle asked

''Nothing'' Maya replied

''It doesn't look like nothing you have been quiet since I told you about how Smakle beat me again, something is defiantly up'' He said

''Ok but if I tell you then you have to promise not to tell anyone not even Lucas' 'Maya said

''Ok I promise'' Farkle said

Maya always knew that she could trust Farkle he was one person that could keep a secret. She had even told him some stuff she hadn't told Riley before. She loved that Farkle was the kind of guy who was so kind to her and she was glad she could be herself around him.

''So what is it'' Farkle asked

''Well its that I have been thinking a lot about my dad lately and I wondered if I should give him a call'' Maya said

'' If you feel like that's what you want to do then go for it I can be there with you when you call if you want'' Farkle said

"thanks Farkle it means a lot'' Maya said before lucas and riley came over to them

"Howdy'' Lucas said

''Oh look its ranger Roy Ranger Ricks Fill in'' Maya said in a joking way then hi fived Farkle

''Yes I am Mam'' Lucas said tipping an imaginary hat

Maya just stared at him in disappointment ''I will never get to you will I'' She said

''Nope'' Lucas said smiling

''So what are you guys talking about? 'Riley asked

''I was telling Maya about the car I want for my birthday' 'Farkle said

''DA RED ONE'' Farkle and Maya both said at the same time before laughing

The bell rang for class and Maya moved to her locker and she was getting her books out when Farkle opened her door all the way.

''So feel like coming over?'' Farkle asked

'to night ill come to your place'' Maya said

''ok got to run see you'' Farkle said before he turned and ran off.

He reached the end of the hall and was ready to turn when he stopped and ran back to Maya.

''What now'' Maya said

''Did you see who is here?'' Farkle asked

''No who is it'' Maya asked

''guess'' Farkle said jumping up and down

''Smakle? Riley? Lucas?'' Maya guesses

''Nope it's a he and he's tall and has brown hair'' Farkle said

''No its it… it can't be'' Maya said

''Maya don't look now but look now' 'Farkle said

Maya turned her head to see Cory walking along with the hottest guy she had ever talked to but what she didn't understand was what was he doing here?

''you're going to be late to my class my assistant will have to write you up for that if you don't hurry up' 'Cory said

''Hey what are you doing as Mr Matthews assistant Josh? '' Farkle asked

''Just coming in to help that's all'' josh said before turning and meeting Maya's eyes they both just looked into each other's for a while before Cory stopped them and told them to hurry up and get to class.

''Meet you there'' Farkle said to Maya

''Save me a seat'' Maya called out

Maya turned back to her locker to close it when Lucas came running up to her

''Seriously everybody needs me today… anyway what do you want'' Maya asked

''The winter ball who are you going with?'' Lucas asked

Maya shocked thinking he was going to ask her, she was so sure he was going to ask riley why would he be asking her and how would that make riley feel once she found out. She could let anyone kill her little plant. She said the first thing that came to her head

''a couple people asked me why? 'She asked wishing she didn't say that

''No reason just was just wondering if you'' he was cut off my Maya who started yelling at him

''NO you can't do that you can't be acting all innocent you know all that little flirting you do with Riley yeah that you can't do that then ask me to the dance could you please just stick to one girl I'm sorry if it's me but nothing can happen between us I couldn't do something like that to Riley and I thought you wouldn't either you're going to crush her'' Maya shouted

''But Maya'' He said looking at her in her eyes and holding her hands

'' Stop!'' Maya said taking her hands away

''If you would just let me finish I just wanted to get onto the topic of the dance so I could ask you if Riley is going with anyone? Because I wanted to ask her but was scared she might be going with someone or would say no.'' Lucas said

''Promise'' Maya said

''I'll Prove it'' He replied then took out a small heart shaped necklace with the letter r in the middle

''I was going to give it to her if she said yes but I wanted to know if she was going to go with someone else'' Lucas confessed

''Ughh I'm so stupid in sorry for yelling at you Hop Along and I think you should ask her before she goes completely out of her mind. Now we really go to get to class so hurry up.'' Maya said before they both ran to history class

After running from their lockers Maya and Lucas burst through the doors

''Mr Friar Miss Hart your late' 'Cory said

''Sorry Mr Matthews it was my fault it won't happen again'' Lucas said

''Mr Friar I believe you please sit down but you miss hart this is a normal thing for you so you have a date with detention please sit down'' Cory said

Maya went and sat down in the seat that Farkle had saved for her he just looked at her and smiled and she couldn't help but smile back. Farkle then hinted to the back corner of the room Maya turned to see Josh sitting at the back she couldn't believe she had forgotten about him being in her class today she just smiled at him and turned back to Farkle who was making kissy faces at Maya and she just ignored him.

''So what were you talking about with Lucas?'' she asked

''How do you know I was talking with Lucas?'' Maya replied

''Because he said I'll be back I have to talk to Maya, now tell me what he said was it about the dance'' Riley asked with a wanting look on her face

''You will find out but whatever happens don't ask Lucas what I said'' Maya said

''Ok'' Riley said with a confused look on her face

The lesson had finished and it was time to go home Maya stood up to leave but was stopped at the door by Cory who said

''going somewhere' 'Cory said

''Home' 'Maya replied

''I have a better place for you'' Cory said

Maya looked at him confused He then guided Maya to a seat in the front row of the class and said

''Welcome to detention Miss Hart''

Oh great Maya thought to herself she then pulled out her phone and quickly texted Farkle saying

Stuck in detention I'll let you know when I get out

Ok he replied

Maya didn't have her phone on silent so it went off

''Hey Josh can you please stake that off her'' Cory said

Josh walked up and put out his hand and Maya put her phone in it ''sorry' 'Josh whispered

Maya could help but smile

''Hey no smiling in detention'' Cory said

''No problem Mr Matthews but the same can't be said for your daughter'' Maya said

''What?'' Cory asked confused

''Lucas is going to ask her to the dance' 'Maya said with a smile just to annoy him

''What no josh you make sure she stays her and I'll go stop him'' Cory said before running from the room''

''my bro always like this'' Josh asked

''Today is a good day'' Maya said

Josh laughed at her comment

''So I was wondering what are you even doing here at John Quincy Adams I mean?'' Maya asked

''Well Cory thought it might be a fun way we could hang out but so far I have just been following him around'' Josh said

''Ever been in detention'' Maya asked

''second home for me what about you'' Josh said

Maya laughed then said ''same what do you think of the detention here?''

''Sometimes it's not the detention that's bad just the people your with and I think you got pretty good people in yours'' Josh said

Maya bit her lip and blushed'' we still got an hour to kill''

''We could play a game'' Josh said

''Like what I spy or something'' Maya joked

''Well Cory's got to be coming back soon so it has to be something quick but worthwhile'' josh said

''How bout 5 questions you know instead of 20 you ask me 5 I ask you 5 and you have to answer truthfully'' Maya suggested

Lucas had pulled Riley aside under a tree on the school lawn and sat on the bench that was there.

'' I had to ask you something'' Lucas said

''You couldn't ask me in a warmer place'' Riley joked

Lucas took off the jacket he was wearing and wrapped it around Riley's shoulders and she smiled at him

''I was wondering if you would like to go with me to the dance that is coming up'' Lucas asked nervously

Riley's eyes grew wide with delight ''YES YES YES YES I will yes'' riley said hugging Lucas around the neck.

Lucas had a sigh of relief before reaching into his pocket and taking out the necklace he had got her. ''This is for you'' He smiled

''Want to put it on for me'' Riley asked with a smile on her face

''Sure'' Lucas said putting it around her neck

Riley then turned to Lucas and began to hug him

Cory came around the corner and turned to find his daughter in the arms or Lucas Friar and knew he was too late.

''Question Number 1 how long are you going to be staying in town for?'' Maya asked

''I go back the night after tomorrow but I might see you again if you come on the Matthews family Road Trip'' Josh said

''My question 1 what's your boyfriend think of you getting into trouble all the time ''Josh asked he didn't want to know what her boyfriend thought he just wanted to know if she had one.

''Oh yeah he's really protective but he's the same and I love him for that'' Maya said

''Oh'' Josh said with a sad tone in his voice

''you are too easy to fool I don't have a boyfriend'' Maya said laughing

''Got me'' Josh said

''Question 2 what about your girlfriend what does she think of you being away'' Maya asked for the same reasons he had

''I'm in the same boat as you Hart I don't have a girlfriend'' Josh said

''Maya just smiled

''Question 2 what are your parents like?'' Josh said

'' My mum is always working and my grandma is old and getting sick and my dad left ages ago and I haven't talked to him in a long time.'' Maya said sadly

''Oh Maya I'm so sorry I didn't know I shouldn't have asked'' Josh said

''Its ok it helps when I talk about it'' Maya said and she smiled at Josh

''Question 3 since being in New York has anyone turned your head?'' Maya asked

''Yes and yes is all you're going to get'' Josh said as he started to blush

''My question 3 do you know any good coffee places around here cause I need me a good coffee'' Josh asked

''I actually have a secret coffee shop I could show you if you want you know before you leave and stuff''Maya said

'' it's a date'' Josh said suddenly realizing what he said he tried to smooth it over and cover it up.

'' I mean two friends at a coffee shop having coffee that's it nothing more'' Josh said

''ok it's a not date'' Maya said trying to make him feel more comfortable.

They both just blushed.

''Question 4 '' Maya said

''Its detention not fun times Maya'' Cory said standing at the door suddenly the bell went

''Actually mate its home time'' Josh said giving Maya's phone back to her.

''see ya'' Maya said

She unlocked her phone to find that the most recent thing open was her contacts list josh must have added his number and he took a beautiful photo of himself. Maya sent him a text so he would get her number.

Smooth she said

She then texted Farkle and said

Im finished detention still want to meet up?

Sure –Farkle said

Josh felt his phone vibrate he looked down at his most recent message it was from Maya he read it and smiled she had also sent him a photo of herself.

We still got 2 question that we can ask each other at any time yeah?

Yeah – Maya replied straight away
