This chapter is particularly interesting, in my opinion at least. Let us know how you feel about it with a review, please.
Chapter four: The Gay Bar.
Mia and Riley were falling into Hogwart's schedule quite easily, which is why they were surprised when they were called to Dumbledore's office during Study Hall.
Their day had begun normally, Mia waking up in Riley's dorm, singing loudly in the shower, and joking with Lydia as they went down to the Great Hall for breakfast.
This morning, a round faced boy with blonde hair, Neville they remembered, stood up and sang Macho Man. Though it was starting to become normal for a random person to stand up and sing during the middle of a meal, he still flushed a deep red when he sat back down.
After breakfast, Mia had gone to History of Magic, and Riley had gone to Defense Against Dark Arts. This time, Riley was with the Ravenclaws, and she got to know Luna and Logan better. Mia was with the Gryffindors, and she sat with Pansy and Hermione. They had forced Draco and Harry to sit next to each other, making the two blush furiously, and confusing Ron greatly (who was sitting next to Neville).
Lunch was just another meal, like breakfast. This time, all the muggleborns sang Raise Your Glass.
Then came Study Hall, where Mia and Riley were called into Dumbledore's office.
They entered using the password, 'lemon drops,' and got to meet their headmaster for the first time.
"Ah yes," said Dumbledore, his blue eyes twinkling, "Miss. Haberdasher and Miss. Silverstein. How nice of you to come. Have a seat. Would you like a lemon drop?"
They politely declined.
"Are we in trouble, sir?" Mia blurted out.
"Oh, no, no," said Dumbledore, "I was just wondering how you settling in."
"We're doing fine," said Riley.
"That's good," said Dumbledore, "Now, it has come to my attention that you are opening a gay bar tonight in the room of requirement."
Mia and Riley stiffened in their seats.
"As long as everyone is back in their common room by curfew, and there is no alcohol served, I am perfectly fine with it."
Mia grinned, and Riley sighed in relief.
"I am very relieved to hear that, sir," said Riley, "Would you like become our sponsor?"
"Absolutely," said Dumbledore, "And you have no idea how relieved I am to hear that there aren't as many homophobic students in this school as I had originally thought. It seems to have been a popular subject today during meals."
They chatted some more, and soon Riley and Mia were dismissed to go back to study hall.
When they arrived back to the library, Pansy and Lydia peppered them full of questions.
"What did Dumbledore want, and is gay club still on?" they asked.
"He wanted to see if we were settling in okay," answered Riley.
"And gay club is still on," replied Mia.
"He actually became our sponsor," said Riley excitedly.
"Perfect," said Pansy and she smirked, "I heard that a certain green eyed boy will be showing up tonight?"
"Yeah," enthused Riley, "Mia got him to come last night in astronomy."
"Riley that sounded so wrong," said Mia, scrunching up her nose.
"FOR GOODNESS SAKES, WOMAN, GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER," cried Riley.
Mia smirked and said, "Sorry, but yeah, he will be there."
The bell rang, and they went on to their respective classes, Riley going to Charms, and Mia going to Transfiguration.
Though the pair had found those classes particularly boring when they had last attended, they were pleased to find that classes were actually starting to become more interesting. Riley learned a charm that turned a regular tissue box into a never ending one. Mia learned how to transfigure a cherry into a fruit bat.
The bell rang and the Hufflepuffs and Slytherins went outside for Care of Magical Creatures with Hagrid.
"Today we will learn about Jarveies," said Hagrid.
"What's a Jarvey?" Riley whispered to Pansy, who was standing next to her and Mia.
"It is basically an overgrown ferret that can speak English and it cusses. A lot," replied Pansy.
"Isn't that Draco?" Riley said while receiving a glare from Mia, "Sorry, it was right there."
"How did you even know about that?" asked Pansy, amazed.
"I've been hanging out too much with the golden trio," Riley admitted, "We have a lot of classes together."
Pansy grunted, and they turned their attention back to Hagrid, who was stroking one of the Jarvies.
"What are you looking at, you little piece of shit," the Jarvie sneered when it saw one of the other Hufflepuffs staring. The Hufflepuff's eyes widened, and it backed away.
"Now, Richard," said Hagrid, "Be nice."
"I am nice. I'm the nicest goddamn Jarvie in the goddamn world," Richard muttered.
Mia looked at Pansy, "Isn't there a rule about cussing in front of the students?" she asked.
"Yeah, but those who actually care are pansies," said Pansy.
Mia narrowed her eyebrows, but didn't comment anyway.
Hagrid went around and let each student hold the Jarvie. The Jarvie made cruel comments about everyone. He seemed to know each and every person's darkest secret was, and said it out loud in the crudest of ways.
"Lauren Lopez? That's your secret?" he snorted when Mia held him, "Lame. She's a whore anyway."
Mia frowned and gave the Jarvie back to Hagrid , who gave him to Riley.
Before the Jarvie could say anything to her, Riley spoke, "You're a fucking donkey, you know that? Do you want a fucking medal. My gran could do better than that, and she's dead."
"You sound like my old swim coach," Mia muttered to herself, "My grandmother could swim faster than you, and she's been dead for forty five years."
The Jarvie smirked, that is, if Jarvies could smirk and said, "Gordon Ramsay? That's the best you can do? You're so unoriginal you have to steal other people's words to express yourself, and you choose GORDON FUCKING RAMSAY?"
"ALRIGHT THAT'S IT!" yelled Riley.
However, before they could get into any sort of cuss off, Hagrid shook his head and said, "Alright, that's enough for today. Class dismissed."
Mia shouldered her bag and Riley slung hers across her back. They climbed up the hill towards the gates to Hogwarts.
"You know, for a Hufflepuff, you've got quite a temper," remarked Pansy.
"I have a younger sister," Riley said darkly.
"So do I," said Mia, "But I took the Jarvie's insults like the man I truly am."
Riley rolled her eyes, "I just can't stand it when people are mean to each other for no reason. Normally I love all animals but the Jarvie was a total dildo."
"She cusses more than you do," Pansy said to Mia, "And I've heard you in the mornings. You both need a filter, though I'm starting to think Silverstein needs one more than you."
They were now back inside the castle. "Come on," said Mia, "Let's go check the gay bar, see if we need to make any changes."
On the way to the room of requirement they picked up Hermione, who was just coming from the library. She was very excited about the gay bar, however she pointed out, "It's not just a bar, its more like a club. I think that's how you should advertise it. Bar just makes me think of a lot of drinking, and there won't be any alcohol there, right?"
"Of course not," Riley assured her. They entered the gay bar-now club, and they charmed the bracelets so they would change color according to the wearer's preferences. They started decorating, but they didn't get a lot done because it was soon time for dinner.
Dinner was a large chicken smothered with gravy. There were peas and carrots and mashed potatoes served on the side. Then there was the alternative meal for those students who were vegetarian, which consisted of pasta and pesto.
Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and shouts of laughter could be heard across the Great Hall. There were also whispers of the gay club that would be opening that night. Most were enthusiastic whispers, saying how much fun they thought it was going to be, hanging out with their friends and hooking up with people from other houses and years. Of course there were those, like Daphne, whispering that anyone who attended the gay club was an abomination. No one really payed attention to them.
Halfway through dinner, right on schedule, Draco stood up on the table and began to sing.
She sits alone waiting for suggestions
He's so nervous avoiding all the questions
His lips are dry, her heart is gently pounding
Don't you just know exactly what they're thinking
If you want my body and you think I'm sexy
come on sugar let me know.
If you really need me just reach out and touch me
come on honey tell me so
Tell me so baby
Mia grinned. She knew this song, and she knew it well.
He's acting shy looking for an answer
Come on honey let's spend the night together
Now hold on a minute before we go much further
Give me a dime so I can phone my mother
They catch a cab to his high rise apartment
At last he can tell her exactly what his heart meant
If you want my body and you think I'm sexy
come on honey tell me so
If you really need me just reach out and touch me
come on sugar let me know
Draco had been resisting at the beginning of the song, but now he was getting into it, dancing around the table, thrusting his hips suggestively, and glancing at Harry every other second.
His heart's beating like a drum
'cos at last he's got this girl home
Relax baby now we are alone
They wake at dawn 'cos all the birds are singing
Two total strangers but that ain't what they're thinking
Outside it's cold, misty and it's raining
They got each other neither one's complaining
He say's I'm sorry but I'm out of milk and coffee
Never mind sugar we can watch the early movie
The Great Hall was chaotic. Girls squealed in delight every time Draco came near them. Suggestive comments came from both boys and girls mouths, and some of the more responsible students did their best to cover the first and second year's ears.
If you want my body and you think I'm sexy
come on sugar let me know
If you really need me just reach out and touch me
come on honey tell me so
If you really need me just reach out and touch me
come on sugar let me know
If you really, really, really, really need me
just let me know
Just reach out and touch me
If you really want me
just reach out and touch me
come on sugar let me know
If you really need me just reach out and touch me
come on sugar let me know
If you, if you, if you really need me
just come on and tell me so
The song ended, and Draco sat down. He was flushed, but he seemed very pleased with the way the rest of the school had responded. Of course if everyone in the school started shouting out my praise and started calling me a sex god, I'd be pleased too, thought Mia.
Dinner was drawn to an end. People were still talking about Draco's performance. Mia smiled when she remembered that she had seen Harry excuse himself afterwards and rush out of the Great Hall.
She found Riley, and they went to the room of requirement, where Pansy, Seamus, and Dean were waiting.
"Alright, let's get this thing set up. People are going to be lining up in less than an hour," said Riley as she walked back and forth in front of the door three times thinking of the gay club.
The door appeared and they all piled inside.
"This is so cool!" exclaimed Seamus.
"Definitely. How many people do you think are going to show up?" asked Dean.
"That's a good question," said Mia, "We should probably make the room a bit bigger."
She closed her eyes and concentrated. When she heard everyone gasp, she knew that it had worked. She opened her eyes and saw that the room was now twice as big, and it had a disco ball and a DJ stand.
"Sweet," she said, "I'll set up the music, Riley you should help me with that. Pansy, you can decorate, and Dean and Seamus, maybe you should go invade the kitchens."
"We would," said Dean, "But we don't know where the kitchens."
Riley sighed and said, "Mia, you're on your own for the music. I'll show them where the kitchens are. I'll also go and get Hermione and Lydia. I think they'll want to help too."
"Right," said Mia as she pulled her laptop out of her bag and connected it to the wireless speaker that was in the room.
Riley led Seamus and Dean down to the kitchens,"Tell the elves I sent you and grab more snacks. I'll go get Lydia and Hermione." Riley quickly ran down the hall to the Hufflepuff common room. She ran inside and found Lydia and Hermione doing homework at the oak table. "Hey guys," Riley panted, "We are setting up the gay club now."
"Sweet, we'll help," said Hermione. The three went back out to the kitchens to find Seamus and Dean surrounded by baskets full of snacks and carbonated beverages. They grabbed as many baskets as they could and headed back up to the room of requirement.
Meanwhile, back in the room of requirement, Mia was fiddling with her laptop, trying to create the perfect playlist. She added all the songs that she and Riley had brought up earlier, along with some of the songs by the Weird Sisters and other wizard bands. When she was satisfied with the playlist, she looked up and saw Riley, Seamus, Dean, Hermione, and Lydia walking in, their arms full of baskets containing food and drinks.
Mia, Riley, Hermione, and Dean started putting away all the food in the shelves below the bar, and the drinks in the mini fridge behind it. Lydia and Dean started to help Pansy decorate.
The next thing they knew, it was eight o'clock, and they opened the door to see a mass of students piled outside in the hallway. Seamus began his duties as bouncer while Dean took his place behind the bar. Mia went over to her laptop and began to play the music as the everyone came piling in.
It soon became really loud as friends started talking and laughing with friends, and couples were dancing and grinding on the dance floor.
Even Dumbledore showed up for a brief period. His band was hidden by the sleeves of his robe, however, Mia could have sworn she saw a flash of blue.
Draco, Harry, and Ron were the last to arrive, Harry and Draco awkwardly entering at the same time. It was amusing to watch them try not to stare at each other's band, Draco's a bright cobalt blue and Harry's a soft blue with the slightest hint of purple. Ron's was pink, the brightest pink that was there that night (worn by a male that is).
Ron danced with Hermione (whose band was surprisingly purple). Pansy was over in the corner making polite talk with Neville, Luna was in the middle of the dance floor, dancing by herself, and Blaise was grinding shamelessly against some Ravenclaw sixth year boy. This left Mia DJing, Riley was stuffing her face, dancing, and singing very off key, Lydia was talking with Hannah, Justin, and Ernie, and was Dean tending the bar while Seamus shamelessly flirted with him. Draco and Harry had no one left to talk to but each other.
"They're interacting," Mia squealed under her breath as she watched Draco go bright red and Harry laugh nervously.
"Alright," she yelled into the microphone, "How's everyone doing?"
The entire club cheered, and Mia felt the DJ stand shake.
"That's wonderful! Now, I want to see everyone on the dance floor for this song!" she smiled and began to play a fast, upbeat song, perfect for some dirty dancing.
Harry and Draco both sighed, and looked at each other.
"Do you want to dance?" she heard Harry ask Draco.
"With you?" she heard Draco respond.
"Well er…"
"I'd love to," Draco said, blushing a bright red. Harry's face somehow went even redder as he took Draco's hand and led him onto the dance floor.
"Look, they're dancing together," she squealed to Riley, who was somehow dancing, eating, and singing along at the same time.
Riley did her happy little nerd dance and offered Mia a chocolate frog.
"Thanks," said Mia, taking a bite of the frog.
The song ended and went onto something slow and sweet, actually it was My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion.
Mia almost lost her marbles when she saw that Harry and Draco were awkwardly slow dancing together. However, she knew that they would not be getting together anytime soon when she saw Draco's face go bright red. He ran from the room, leaving Harry there looking greatly disappointed.
"Plan 'get Draco and Harry to dirty dance and make thousands of gay babies together' has failed," she informed Riley after telling her what she had witnessed.
"Drat," muttered Riley, "We should still do this next week, though. It seems to be a big hit."
"Right," agreed Mia, "Gay club is open every Wednesday night from 8:00-10:00. Speaking of which, we might want to start clearing everyone out. Curfew starts in ten minutes."
"Right. I'll get Lydia to make the announcement. You start cleaning up," said Riley.
Riley ran over to Lydia, who had taken over the DJ stand and gave her the news, including all that had happened with Draco and Harry. Lydia made the announcement, and within the next five minutes the room was cleared except for Mia and Riley.
"We'll finish cleaning up tomorrow," said Riley, "Come on." She grabbed Mia's hand and they ran out of the room and down the hallway and back to their common rooms, making curfew with seconds to spare.
Mia got ready for bed and remembered to set the silencing spell so she wouldn't have to put up with Millie's snoring. She fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
Riley also got ready for bed and put her dirty clothes in her hamper. She fell back onto her fluffy bed and dreamt of polite Jarveies.
Hello again. Wow we already finished chapter 4, Holy Crap. Ugh when will Draco and Harry get their acts together and confess to one another already? Geez. Stay tuned for more shenanigans.
