Hurt by an abrupt departure

Naruto couldn't speak, he knew he had backed himself into a corner with no way out. He slowly began to stutter his explanation (Sorry if I'm making him seem like Hinata, but his life is rather sad and unstable so his fear and worry about speaking of the fox is rationalized).

"I..I..I"

"KIBA INUZUKA" a very loud and familiar voice rang throughout the shop. The ferocity of it made both of the boys separate in shock. There before them stood Kiba's sister.

Hana

While she herself is genuinely nice, her brothers neglect of clan obligations gets under her skin.

"WHY ARE YOU NOT AT HOME GETTING READY YOUR CLAN COMMITMENT"(The party Tsume mentioned is for a Inuzuka girl). Kiba paled and used every fiber of his being to cling to the booth bed he was on except that there was no real hold and she managed to grasp him by the back of his hood and drag him off the seat and around to the exit.

Kiba, not wanting to leave Naruto with the expensive bill secretly tossed his wallet at the blond who was watching the two in confusion and it landed in his lap. "See ya later I guess Naruto!" Kiba called as Hana quite roughly yanked him out the door and down the street.

Naruto blinked in confusion and a little relief as he looked down at his lap and noticed Kiba's wallet laying there. He picked it up and stared at it, it was a very expensive leather one with a faded eagle on the front the front (If you haven't guessed it's from American Eagle). Being respectful he simply put it in his pocket and pretended it didn't exist. He went back to eating the wonderful breakfast while he thought over the situation he now found himself in.

'That was a close one, I don't' think I could have told him about Kyuubi.'

The blond had talked to Tamaki several times over the course of the meal and explained what had happened to his boyfriend. After what seem like an extra hour eating all of the wonderful food Naruto finally received the bill from Tamaki. When he opened the black little folder his eyes widened in shock.

'four hundred Ryo!?, just for breakfast?'

Naruto's face paled. How was the oblivious boy supposed to pay for this, he barely has 50.

A light clicked in his head and his eyes seemed to gain a hesitant uncertainty as he pulled out Kiba's leather wallet and held it in front of his eyes.

He couldn't take money from someone's wallet especially his boyfriends without permission. He sat there and for an unaware five minutes passed and Tamaki returned once again.

"So are you going to pay or not?" Naruto knew the gist of what would happen if he didn't pay so he, still hesitantly, opened Kiba's wallet and pulled out the required amount of money. Tamaki politely took it and wished Naruto a good day as the blond left the took off like a bullet to his apartment and as soon as he was in his bedroom he let out a shaky breath. What was he going to do? He just used the boy he was dating's money and only half of it was left.

He was about to trudge down to the Inuzuka house and give it back when a familiar shadow stood crouching outside his window sill. The man was a top a Giant toad as he unlocked the window and hoisted himself through the small opening. Naruto gave an annoyed sigh as the man slipped his shirt from last night and fell on his but.

"What do you want Pervy-Sage I'm too busy to deal with you right now."

"The two weeks I gave you is up kid, we're leaving the moment your packed." Naruto gave him a confused look until it came to him.

"WHAT!?" THE TIMES UP ALREADY?" Jiraiya sighed and rubbed his already growing headache. 'How am I supposed to live with this for two years?'

"Yes Naruto now get packed, I'll be waiting at the gate. We leave in half an hour." Jiraiya finished by marching the blond to his closet before jumping back on the giant toad outside the window and disappearing down the street. Naruto quickly but sadly gathered his things together. Don't get him wrong he couldn't wait to go training with the toad-sage for the two years, but now being in a brand new and somewhat fragile relationship with Kiba has left his wondering what to say to the dog-nin. 'What do I do? Just go there and say hi, I know we just started dating and all but I've decided to go on a two year training trip to get I'm sure he'll take that real well knowing his temper.' Frowning Naruto got the last of his stuff together and walked over to his bedside table that held the picture of Team-7. He stared hard and long at the picture of Sasuke.

"…I'll definitely bring you back home Sasuke."

Naruto spoke gently while setting the picture face down before turning out the lights and heading out the door for the last time for the next two years.

A few minutes later the blond was standing in front of the Inuzuka's main household where he thought Kiba would be. With a deep breath he went to knock on the door when it opened the moment he touched it. He was met face to face with Kiba's mother Tsume The look she gave him wasn't the hostile one he got from most adults in the village but one with annoyance and a almost natural aura of furry.

"What is it I'm very busy right now"

"Uh is Kiba home?"

"No he's at one of the other households getting prepared for his commitments what do you need?"

"Oh I just wanted to drop by and give him the money he accidentally left at my house". Naruto decided that he was going to return the money but keep the wallet when he discovered that there was nothing else in it so on his way he took the money out of the wallet and put it in his pocket. He wanted something to remind him of Kiba while he was on his journey.

"Okay I'll give it to him." Tsume said as she took the money

"Uhm could you not mention I stopped by?"

"Why?" Tsume looked back at him in confusion. She personally never liked Naruto, not because he has the Nine-tails in him but because he's always running around and playing pranks on people. She did have respect for him him though, for Defeating Gaara in battle and for helping to get Tsunade back to the village.

"No real reason… Anyway I got to go the Pervy sage is waiting at the gates for me and he said he'll leave without me if I'm late so see ya." Naruto quickly bolted away from the Inuzuka matriarch and to the gates.

For some reason he felt to scared to inform Kiba that he was leaving for such a long period with no way to contact him. He was unsure about how Kiba was going to react and didn't't want to be around to see his reaction. He made it to the gate in record time to see the Toad-Sage waiting for him.

"Ready to go then?" Jiraiya asked with his pack strapped on his back. Naruto simply nodded his head. "Well let's get moving then" He turned around and started walking out the gate and down the path.

Naruto took one last look at the Konoha The Village Hidden in The Leaves.

"I"ll DEFINITELY be back. !Believe It!

(Later That Night)

Kiba felt like crap. Normally he loved parties,being able to just let it all out and no be made fun of for it . . . !

Seriously this isn't a party it's a boring ass ballroom, and the people weren't even dancing with the ungodly slow music. The birthday girl that he was supposed to be with had gotten sick not an hour after she had gotten here and she hadn't even made her big day view as she put it. The moment she arrived she went to eat the shrimp that everyone else seemed smart enough not to eat.

"Damm why the hell am I even still here? The girl SiAme (pronounced with the underlined part of these to names together.) or whoever is sick and's already left so there's no point in me staying. Besides I've got a blue eyed blond that I could be snuggled up to." He walked out of the party room and down the hall where he quickly shredded his confining dress clothes minus the shoes, and took off towards Naruto's apartment. With any luck the blond was still awake and having dinner. While the run there was a pain in dress shoes instead of his ninja sandals he finally arrived in front of the door that on the other side contained his boyfriend.

He walked up to the door and knocked a few times and waited for Naruto to open up, after about a minute he decided to knock again. he repeated the process a few times becoming increasingly worried that Naruto wasn't answering the door. He was even going as far as to yell out Naruto's name.

Still Nothing.

In a panic Kiba shoved one of his claws in the lock and giggled it until it clicked and he immediately burst in the door.

"NARUTO!" Kiba shouted when he entered getting ready to pound the blond for making him worry.

He stopped cold in his tracks

His eyes scanned the small apartment and noticed how empty it was. Without a second going by he shot out of the dark house and jumped across the roof tops to the Hokage Mansion where the main offices light's were still on. Landing on the roof of the building he bolted down the stairs and into Tsunade's office. He crashed through the door and yelled.

"TSUNADE-SAMA NARUTO'S GONE!" Kiba looked ready to faint for exerting himself so fast.

The Hokage gave him a questioning look before responding.

"Of course Naruto's gone Kiba, Jiraiya picked the blond up for their training trip right when he said he would. Anyway the village will sure be quiet without our blond friend around for the next few years." Tsunade sighed and took a sip of sake.

A hundred thoughts were going through Kiba's head at that moment. 'Naruto's not missing, he's gone to train for the next few .. YEARS!'

"What do you mean by the next few years?" He asked quietly.

"Honestly Kiba if I didn't know better I'd say you didn't know that he … you didn't did you?"Kiba shook his head as he was still coming to terms with the fact that only two days after they got together Naruto had left and wasn't going to be back for the next few years.

"There's more to the reason that he left but I'll be calling you all to a meeting tomorrow and I will explain everything then. Now go home and get some rest you really shouldn't be out this late anyway." Tsunade gave him a smile that told him that it was time to leave.

…

The Burnett walked silently, lost deep in thought. ' why did he leave without telling me anything? Did I do something wrong... And also, why did he take my freaking wallet, even though he took out the money and returned it to my mom.' Kiba finally made his way to his house stopping one last time to look at the blondes empty apartment.

Arriving home he didn't feel like talking to his mother or sister so he decided to focus his chakra into his feet and climb up the side of his house until he reached his bedroom window. He slipped in and undressed in front of a sleeping Akamaru. Kiba gave a sigh as he laid down under his bed spread. He took one last glance out the window and whispered to the familiar star shining outside. "Goodnight Naruto, where ever you maybe." Kiba closed his eyes before falling asleep.

Tap..

Tap.. tap

'Whatever is making that noise is going to die' Kiba thought as he was slowly brought out of his sleep by the annoying tapping.

Tap. Tap. Tap

God it was never ending! Kiba threw his sheets off him and jumped out of bed and made his way over angrily towards the creator of the noise. Following his ears it led him to his window where perched outside was a messenger bird.

'That must be the info about the meeting Tsunade is having today.'

He opened the window and removed the scroll form the birds travel holder. The bird took off right after and flew back to it's nest.

Opening the scroll Kiba read the contents

A/ shinobi that have received this message are to report to the Hokage's Head office within the hour or be demoted.

Tsunade, Senju (Senju is the first of her two clan names)

Kiba read the letter and quickly went to change into something more suited. Going outside in his grey and black fur hoodie. He and Akamaru took off towards the Hokage mansion. Along the way he ran into Hinata.. quite literally as she was coming around the corner next to him and didn't notice till the last second.

BAM!

The two's foreheads collide and both are sent to the ground. "Dammit…" Kiba muttered as he stood up.

"Sorry about that Kiba-kun. I wasn't watching where I was going." Hinata stood up as well and dusted herself off.

"No worries I was in a hurry as well."

"Ohh you got the letter from the Hokage as well?" Hinata asked shyly

"Yeah was just heading there now want to join me?" He gave her his signature smirk.

With a nod the two started walking down the street with Akamaru sleeping inside Kiba's jacket.

About five minutes to spare the two of them strolled into the Mansion and up to Tsunade's office. a few yards for the door Kiba could smell the scents of the remaining genin and a few jonin including Kurenai and...Iruka-sensei? 'wonder what the big surprise about Naruto's leaving will cover?' He opened the door and let Hinata enter first before he closed the door behind himself.

Seeing the room filled with squads 7,8,and 10 plus their academy teacher, must mean something is going down with Naruto. At her desk was the Hokage and Shizune both looking serious. Kiba quickly fell into his spot between Shino and Hinata with Akamaru popping up through the neck of his shirt to listen as well.

The air was still and the tension was so thick that a butter knife could cut it. Tsunade let the room come to complete silence for a minute or so before speaking.

"I'm glad that you've all gathered here this morning." Her voice was stiff and powerful leaving no room to speak. No one had ever heard such a tone in her voice before, even Shizune had to glance look at her.

"There is much that must be discussed here and now before this meeting ends." She paused and took a breath. "As most of you may or may not know my old colleague Jiraiya has taken Naruto on a journey away from the village to train for a possible threat in the future." The jounin instructors gave her a glance but did nothing else.

"Before we continue on why he chose Naruto specifically there is something that must be asked each and everyone of you." She locked eyes with all of the genin who also kept their gaze fixed on hers. "What I'm about to tell you has been strongly guarded by law that the elders are breathing down my back at the fact that the info has been classified as law and if disclosed to the younger generations of kids in the village the breaker will be punishable by life imprisonment."

"Tsunade.." Shizune whispered, obviously knowing where she was headed with this. " are you sure abou-"

"Kakashi!" She said suddenly even though there was no reason to as he was unusually focused on the discussion. " As you are his sensei you are the one who must decide if I tell them about Naruto."

He stood there in deep thought for several long minutes before deciding. He gave a positive nod of his head for her to continue.

"Good. Now the question for you all is this. How much does Naruto truly mean to each of you. You must look past your previous illusions of how you think he was and see him as he is, can you call him a friend know matter what is said about him or how people act towards him. Truly think now"

For almost ten minutes there was silence as each of the genin thought about what Naruto meant to them. After another few minutes Kiba looks Tsunade in the eye.

"Naruto is my closest friend and as of the other day my boyfriend." That one sentence put a jolt of shock through everyone in the room. Kiba however was having a stare down with the Hokage and wouldn't back down even though the stare he was receiving was worse than Ibiki's. "What kind of boyfriend would I be if my I left my partner out in the cold if I learned something about him I might not like so try me." He didn't realize it but he had taken several steps forward and had developed a slight snarl on his face as he challenged the woman's words.

"I agree with Kiba… even though I'm sad that he and Naruto are together I couldn't just stop caring about either one of them." Another level of shock rang out (last time of shock here I swear) as they all stared at Hinata. She was blushing massively but she had spoken her mind loud and free of stutters.

"Hinata" Kiba smiled as he went over to her and gave her a soft hug in which she returned "Thank you". She nodded and he released her before facing Tsunade again.

"I wouldn't feel indifferent towards Naruto anyway cause if your announcing what I think you are my father has already explained it to me" Shino spoke as he examined a beetle on his hand.

Tsunade and Shizune looked surprised but nodded in acceptance.

"Yeah and I'm kind of feel bad for the way I treated him in the academy so I want to try making it up to him." Ino said with a small smile which did take everyone by surprise as they thought she and Sakura would be the biggest problem.

"Yeah me and Shikamaru don't really care one way or the other so it's not like we'll have a reason to out him." Choji said with a half-asleep Shikamaru waving his hand in consent.

Everyone looked towards Sakura and waited her response.

"Naruto had a crush on me for the longest time, and I had just simply ignored it at the academy and was so focused on Sasuke that I never really was able to see how much he had changed since then. I was so blinded that didn't even notice when he stopped his crush and had even started to avoid. He had shown me strength and courage an endless amount of times and I never even noticed until now. All I want to do is show him that I have learned from what he showed me." She finished and looked down a bit still in thought over something.

Tsunade nodded as Sakura finished and spoke again. "Alright now that you all consent and have shown value of your friendship with Naruto we can begin." She drew in a deep breath and released it before beginning.

"As you all know fourteen years ago the Nine-tailed Fox suddenly appeared outside the village. it destroyed the surrounding area and several skilled Shinobi had perished. The Fourth Hokage known as the greatest of them all had given his life in order to defeat the Fox. What none of the younger generation know about is how the Fourth dispatched the Fox and himself."

She drew another breath before continuing. "To ensure that the Leaf Village would not have to deal with the Fox for several dozen years he used a sacred sealing technique and in exchange for his life seal the Nine-Tail inside of a newborn baby whose umbilical cord had just been cut."

Kiba's eyes were wide and his mouth was slightly open, as were several others.

"That new born baby was Naruto Uzumaki", She finished

None of them had anything to say as they let the information sink in.

Naruto Uzumaki the Leaf Villages Number One Hyperactive Knuckle headed Ninja has the demon fox that had nearly destroyed the village sealed inside of him.

"Many of you when you were younger were told not to play or be near Naruto weren't you?" Iruka asked them. All except Shikamaru and Choji nodded much to Kiba's shame he nodded to.

"The Fourth Hokage wished that the one who carried the Nine-Tails inside of him to be regarded as a hero. Sadly though even he knew in his heart that the hatred towards the fox wouldn't be ignored by the villagers and that the boy would be a target." Iruka remembered having the Third give him the exact same speech he was giving now. "The Third taking that into consideration made a law in which none of the generations born after the incident could be informed that Naruto had the Fox in him."

"Many of you probably avoided him or acted differently towards him because of the way your parents acted towards him am I right?" Kurenai interjected. Once again but Choji, Shikamaru, and this time Hinata nodded"..

"Children whether they know it or not will carry the same feelings as their parents towards things and since they have unnaturally good sense of indication the parent's won't even have to act out against Naruto directly to have their children turn on him" Iruka continued. "Even with the law enforced villagers and even Ninja have attacked the boy and on a few occasions even raped him. They all see him as a monster that needs to be exterminated. Naruto has used the foxes chakra only two or three times at all and it was to protect and aoth a to try and save a friend. He is deathly afraid of the foxes power and want's nothing more than to fit in with others."

"Now that you know the truth about Naruto, What do you think of him now?" Tsunade asked.

Kiba felt like his heart was being ripped out from the never ending guilt. He could guess why Naruto wouldn't want to tell anyone about the Fox. The people that you thought you could trust turn their back on you for something you couldn't control. What made Kiba want to beat himself in was the way he treated Naruto when he was younger and in the Chunnin Exams.

When he was younger after his mom had threatened Naruto within an inch of his life as her wolf ninken Kuromaru had the blond pinned down and neck in within his teeth, he had started tormenting Naruto even though there were times when they would play a prank together.

Then There was the Exams when he insulted Naruto's dream to be Hokage.

Looking back did he even deserve Naruto's friendship let alone his affection as a boyfriend.

"I don't think it makes a difference, either way he still is a comrade even if he's an annoying." Shikamaru said with Choji agreeing with him. "I mean without his encouragement I don't think I could have gotten us as far as we got on that recovery mission."

Kiba looked at the two before looking at the others and stuffing his guilt away to deal with later like he said he was Naruto's boyfriend and he was sticking with the blond no matter what.

He choked back his guilt and spoke. "Their right just because the Nine-Tails is inside of Naruto doesn't mean he's any different from the same blond we've been used to. He's still the same idiot as before." Kiba smiled once again as he thought about the happy blond.

"Well spoken now on to the main problem" Tsunade started again. "Whether you were aware of it or not Itachi Uchiha and Kisame Hoshigaki were sighted within the walls of the village and your sensei's engaged them in combat. They were sent here by an organization that been created to collect and control the power of the Nine-Tails so they had tried to target Naruto and in the process after escaping our jonins and incapacitating Kakashi they engaged Naruto and Sasuke in combat but were foiled by Jiraiya and forced to retreat."

"Okay so what does that have to do with anything?"Kiba questioned

"Before leaving with Naruto Jiraiya and I deduced that if people like Itachi and Kisame are in this group there maybe some even more powerful with them. Though with how he travels it is unlikely

that they will attack the two on their journey. We need to be prepared for when they return.

The group is known as the Akatsuki and their prime goal is to capture the Biju so I have a feeling that they may also go after Gaara for the sand Shikaku sealed in him."

None really seemed surprised by that news.

"We must be prepared to defend Naruto with everything we've got are their any questions?"

"Yeah, when are Naruto and Jiraiya supposed to return?" Kiba wondered out loud accidentally.

""They are to return in about two and a half years, anything else?"

Everyone shook their heads before she dismissed them.

…

Deciding to stop by the blondes apartment because he knew Naruto would have had stuff left out that would have created a living mold, so Kiba wanted to make the place presentable. When he arrived Kiba walked up the stone wall and unlocked the window before hopping into the room. To his surprise it was really clean and even more so there was a note on the bed made out to him. He walked over to it and read it.

Kiba~

There are two things I didn't get the chance to tell you before I left. One.. WHY THE HELL ARE YOU IN MY APARTMENT WHEN I'M NOT HOME! and two.. I'm sorry I took your wallet, the only thing I have in it is a picture of your to keep with me on the long journey. Everything else is in the top drawer of my bedside table if you want it. Thank you for being with me for the rest of the time I was here and I hope that if you decide to move on from me that you have a happy life.

Naruto Uzumaki

As Kiba walked home he thought only of Naruto and what he must have had to go through all alone without help. The guilt that he bottled down in the meeting had returned and was gnawing at his insides again. He still wasn't able to forgive himself for not being one of the people that Naruto needed to be there for him. He looked to the clear blue sky not realizing he was looking at the spot where Kitto would be in the night sky.

"Good luck on your journey Naruto Uzumaki".

Well That wraps up Naruto's departure from Konoha and from Kiba for the next two and a half years.

If anyone can tell me what the U.S -Ryo exchange rate is I would be grateful cause in U.S equivalence I want it to equal $100 and I don't want to look it up I'm to lazy.
