Chapter 3: The Secret

The Davenparents decide to keep their bundle of joy a secret, but their excitement almost causes them to slip up.

AN: Damn BZ back at it with this new chapter! Sorry for the delay, I accidentaly spilled juice on my laptop so some keys don't work which makes typing such a hassle. This means updating will take a lot longer. So bear with me please! Now on to the story!

Tasha was now 8 weeks, that is, 2 months pregnant, and every morning she would wake up and smile to herself that a little human was growing. The she would get the less than lovely reminder that sent her to the bathroom a few minutes later. Then she would hear her husband's quick footsteps following her, feeling him rub circles on her back to comfort her. It had been 16 years since she was last in this situation, so it these occurrences felt new to her. For Donald it was a completely new experience. He had only known of Adam, Bree and Chase (back then referred to as Subject A, B and C respectively) when they were already born. He was excited and nervous to go through this journey with Tasha, actually seeing their child develop over the coming months. After their recent doctor's appointment, she made it a point for them to be wary of any problems before the 12 week mark, which meant no telling other people about the baby until they were out of the danger zone. This proved to be quite the challenge for both of them, as they were both quite chatty and this news was too big to keep to oneself.

For Tasha she tried her best to avoid any foods and scents that would make her nauseous while keeping herself composed whenever someone said the word 'baby' or 'kid' or 'children'. She almost couldn't contain her glee when she was sent to interview a local designer who recently started making maternity wear (she made sure to get the designer's details when she was off the record… for a friend). Her boss said it was the most hyperactive he had ever seen her, which made it some of her best work. Even her usual lunchtime gossip with her co-workers took an interesting turn when Margret and Lucy were starting a bet to see who the next employee that will either get pregnant or married would be. Most of the money was on the intern Benji, who had been with his girlfriend Dionne for five years, so they were sure that news of an engagement would be in the works. Lucy kept asking Tasha who she thought would have the next office baby, but she kept her mouth shut, mostly because she was trying to suppress the wave of nausea she got because of Margret's tuna casserole. She started taking a lot more bathroom breaks than usual, which was noticed by the lead anchor Samuel Achebe, but he brushed it off and never tried to ask. Her mother had called her later on in the day when she had gotten home from work, and she had more self-control, trying not to blurt out that she was with child because she knew that she would not hear the end of it.

For Donald it was a bit easier, mostly because the Academy kept him busy, but there were those moments when he would be caught staring at the kids, just full of pride and wanting to tell them about their baby brother or sister on the way. Then he would remember the advice of the doctor and brush it off as nothing whenever he was asked what he wanted to talk about. Tasha being with child also reminded him of how little time he has spent with them. Ever since the bionic secret was revealed there seemed to be less and less quality time with his blended family. He wanted to make sure that the relationships between him and the kids were still as strong once the bay arrived, there were still seven more months (well, 32 weeks to be exact), but he wanted to make changes now instead of later. So one day he managed to schedule everything right. He had no meetings, made sure the students had the day off, Tasha visiting her sister. Everything was set in place. Just to be told that none of his kids wanted to hang out with him. What made the blow even worse was when it was revealed that Douglas had son named Daniel. He knew how hypocritical he was being about Douglas hiding this huge secret when he and Tasha were hiding one too (of the same nature as well). But just as he knew he had lied to the kids about their true origins, he had to keep certain secrets to protect his family, just for the time-being until they were sure they were in the clear. The day became a day of truth-telling and secret revealing, which caused a lot of anger at first but their family still came together at the end.

When he told Tasha about Daniel, they laughed over how their family is constantly going through changes. Tasha told him about all her close calls with her sister but they both still managed to keep their secret. It was going to be an interesting upcoming four weeks, especially considering what they were going to face, unbeknownst to them.
