Author's Note: Enjoy, my lovelies! I apologize for the short chapter, by the way! I promise that the next one will be longer!
Pick me. Choose me. Love me.
Meredith Grey had uttered those words earlier that day. She had been bothering Derek for the past few days, about choosing either her, or Addison. She knew that she really couldn't compete with Addison, because Addison was tall, and leggy, and had saved her best friend's life, and was extremely nice, and very likeable, while she was all about tequila, and being dark and twisty. How could anybody compete with that? With tall and leggy, against dark and twisty.
Sign the divorce papers, and I'll be on the first plane to New York.
The days had gotten even more confusing for Addison, with Derek once again avoiding her, only to run into Meredith, who kept making it clear to him, that he needed to choose. She had shown up with another set of divorce papers, signed, and ready to be sent to her lawyer. She had told him, to sign them, and she'd be gone by the end of the day.
With both women in his life, chasing after him, trying to get him to make a choice, Derek was going crazy. Even a drink with Burke didn't help. Sure, Burke may prefer Addison over him, but he had decided to be nice, and the two had gone out for drinks. They only talked about work things, because personal life was off limits. He knew that. With all of the chasing, especially with Addison shoving divorce papers under his nose at every second, he was going insane.
He didn't know what it was, but somehow, he found himself sitting in the waiting room near the entrance, waiting for his wife, at the end of the day.
'Derek, have you ever thought, that even if I am Satan and an adulterous bitch, that I still might be the love of your life?'
Could it be? Anything was possible. Anything is possible when you're Derek Shepherd. He had begun to spend more and more time with Meredith, to avoid Addison, but somehow, one night with Meredith had made him realize how different both women were. One night of sex, before Meredith had gotten all "So, does that mean you pick me?", had led to Derek realizing what choice he wanted to make. He had left very quickly, and the whole thing had ended up with Meredith trying to chase him down the rest of the day.
What it had all come down to, was that, she was no Addison. She was the anti Addison. She needed someone, to give her confidence. She needed somebody to fix her. She wasn't strong, like Addison. She was different. Addison was tall, and beautiful, and confident, and strong, and fought for what she believed in, while Meredith ran after him, begging him to choose her. And when they'd had sex, Derek had slowly realized things. That, the sex, it was different. Addison made those breathy moans, and Meredith didn't. Basically, Meredith was no Addison. Which was why, after an entire day of avoiding both Addison and Meredith, Derek, being defeated, had ended up in the waiting room near the exit, with his coat on, looking defeated.
Addison, who had been trying to find Derek all day, had shown up, placed a hand on her hip, before uttering, "Where have you been? I've been looking for you all day."
"Maybe you still are the love of my life." Are the first words out of Derek's mouth, when he spots Addison.
Author's Note: Okay, you may be confused, or you may not. I don't know. Basically, this story did follow the show, up until this chapter. Up until this last scene. This scene was in episode three, or four, or five, I honestly can't remember. I'll have to look it up. But, it's where Addison's been looking for him all day, and she finds him in that waiting area, and he looks up at her. Anyway, yeah. Up until that point, it followed the show. The first few chapters, were basically sort of 'behind the scenes' type of things. Stuff that happened, that we didn't see on the episodes themselves. From here on out, starting with chapter five, it will be completely AU.
