This is where our heroes are introduced to the Empress of Kaldwin, and also encounter many dangers, such as Weepers and gangsters around almost every corner. By the way, I'm still having trouble figuring out who the two recruits will be, so if any of you guys have any ideas on whom they should be, let me know. Seriously, I'm really stuck here! Anyways, Enjoy! Be sure to review!
Assassin's Creed: Broken Worlds
Chapter 4: Weepers and Mobsters
The four arrived in the city of Kaldwin, and things could only get worse. Most of the buildings have been abandoned, due to plague infection, trash covered most of the streets and rats were crawling everywhere. Mason whistled "Wow. I was hoping that the city would be livelier than this, Dante. It almost seems like a ghost town." Dante said "I'm sorry that it appears this way. My sister has been doing her best in helping the people of this city, assigning night watch, offering escort services, reducing price for elixirs, but that doesn't appear to be helping much. She will be pleased to meet you, knowing that we have extra help. Follow me." They made their way wondering around the district, meeting other civilians, escaping almost being eaten by swarms of plague rats and finally arriving at the front gates leading to Dunwalls inner walls. Dante called up to the watch post above the gates "Hello up there! Open the gates now! It's me; Dante!" A citywatch guard stepped out onto the balcony and looked down, surprised. "Sir Dante?! Where the hell have you been?! And who are those kids?!" Dante said "It's a long story. These three are my friends and we need to see Emily." The guard said "She's been wondering where you went. You never really did return to report your findings from the Flooded District. Did something happen?" Dante said "That's not important. Right now, we must speak to Emily right away." The guard grabbed the lever "Alright. She'll be expecting a full explanation as to why you were gone for so long. Opening the gates now!" The guard pulled the lever, opening the gates, allowing the four to enter before closing behind them. They made their way to the courtyard, observing the many servants working around the yard, then saw Emily, standing at the balcony, where she would usually be. The four approached her, hoping to make their acquaintances, as Dante said "Emily? I've returned." Emily turned to face Dante, surprised and glad to finally see her brother safe, as she wrapped him in a hug. "Dante! Thank God that you're okay!" She released him, then said "Dante, my brother, I was very worried about you!" She looked over to the others "And who are your friends here?" Dante said "These are my friends; the Assassin, Mason, the Runner, Faith, and the hitwoman, Jenny. They're from…other dimensions and they're here to help." Emily scratched her head in confusion "I don't understand. What do you mean 'other dimensions'? And help with what?" Mason said "An entity of light, Abyss, brought us together, hoping to stop a dark evil, which is threatening the very existence of our worlds, unless we stop it. Abyss asked us to seek out several other allies who can help us with this problem and we were wondering if you could aid us in finding those people." Emily thought for a long moment, then finally managed to say "I'm not exactly sure what to say. I mean, traveling to and from other worlds? This sounds too much!" Dante said "I know it's a lot to take in, but we really need your help." Emily let out a sigh, then said "I'm not really sure how I can help here. This is an entirely different situation, dealing with forces of the supernatural. However, there might be someone who can help you find what you're looking for, but he hides himself well. He calls himself Daud, leader of a massive group of Assassins, who dwells deep in the Flooded District. Fortunately, according to one of our spies, Daud is currently hunting around the Distillery District. Find him and maybe you'll find your answer."
The four left the tower, deciding to follow the lead given to them, and went to the District, searching carefully for the man, but had no luck. Dante finally said "It might be best if we split up. You guys search up road and I'll try to search by the roof tops." Mason nodded "Alright, but give a call, should you require assistance." As the three disappeared down the road, Dante made for the roofs. He searched the roof tops when he then noticed something under several discarded trash. He scratched through it and picked up the object and blew the dust off it to recognize the object: a rune of the Outsider. Dante remembered the stories of his father collecting these runes, allowing him to gain supernatural powers. Dante then entered a dark state as his surroundings darkened, as he looked up to see the Outsider himself, floating before him, arms crossed and face expressionless. "Dante, old friend. It's been quite a while, since we last met." Dante said "It has, old friend. You have a reason being here before me?" The Outsider ginned "Indeed, Dante. Your current state of affairs has resparked my interest in you. You have been called upon by Abyss, the entity of light, to defeat a great evil, known as the Darkstar, the entity of the darkness. And to do that, you and several others have been asked to travel across other dimensions to seek out those who will aid in your cause." Dante said "To be honest, I'm still having trouble getting used to this whole situation. I suppose that you have something to give me a good idea." The Outsider said "Don't be so quick to jump to conclusions, Dante. I can only provide you hints on what to do. However, finding your mission a great task, you will require more help than I can provide. Seek out the name: Delilah." The Outsider vanished, returning the surroundings back to normal. Dante didn't have enough time to think about it when he heard a sudden click from behind. He turned to see Daud, sword in hand. "You have five seconds to explain why I shouldn't cut you to pieces, kid." Dante smiled "Daud. It's an honor to finally meet you in person." Daud raised an eyebrow "How do you know my name?" Dante said "My father told me about his battle with you. He said that you're a great swordsman." Daud sheathed his sword and said "Why are you out here, looking for me?" Dante said "I was told that you might help me and my friends investigate a problem around here? It was requested by the Empress." "Like what?" "We're trying to build a new Brotherhood, in hopes of dealing with a dark evil that is rapidly growing and we need all the help we can get. We heard that the Darkstar is feeding off the energy collected from the Darkstar Proxies and we were wondering if you could give us some clues that could lead us closer to those proxies." Daud thought for a moment, then said "Actually, now that you mention it, there is one person that comes to mind: Delilah Copperspoon, recognized only as the leader of the Brigmore Witches. She attempted to possess Lady Emily, to control Dunwall, by performing a special ritual. Fortunately, I was able to foil her plan, by switching out the portrait of young Emily with the void, trapping her in the void. It seems, however, that she has broken free and is now running amuk. Not sure how she got out, but I must find her and put a stop to her schemes." Dante said "Maybe my friends and I can help. Investigating this Delilah character might shed some light on the situation." Daud said "Excellent. By the way, for each rune you collect, you gain new powers that you couldn't have before. You should try them out, given the chance. Now, let's go."
The two dashed across rooftops, snuck around every corner, looking for clues on Delilah's whereabouts, when they heard strange sounds coming from an alley. They ventured down the alley, until they arrived at a strange camp. Several tents and crates stood behind iron fences, under heavy watch. Dante whispered "Whatever they're doing, it can't be good." Daud said "Agreed. Let's sneak inside and investigate, but don't be detected." Dante grinned "That's my specialty." They silently sneaked around and inside the camp, listening in on the soldier's conversations, looting storage chests and discovering strange artillery. The two regrouped behind the larger tent. "What do you think, kid?" Dante said "They keep talking about taking over the other islands, using new shipments of weapons, delivered by an unknown arms dealer. They also said that this dealer doesn't seem to be from this world. Some of these guys I don't even recognize." Daud said "Whoever this man is, he must be a proxy of this 'Darkstar' beast you mention. If we can find him, maybe we can learn more about what he's doing." A sudden voice shouted "Halt!" They turned to see one of the strange soldiers, sword drawn and laser pistol pointed at them. "Don't try to run, punks! You're trapped!" Dante grinned "Wanna bet, fool?" Dante tapped into his powers as the mark on his hand began to glow, surprisingly noticing his hands are burning hot. He extended his arms as fire began spewing from his palms, burning the man alive. "Whoa! Fire Palms!" Dante waved his arms, spreading fire around the camp, burning everything in its way. He halted the fire as he and Daud left the camp to burn. "Dante, what was that?" Dante said "I'm not sure, but I guess I just gained a new power!" Daud said "It might take some time to master. Anyway, Emily might send some guards to investigate. I suggest you return to your friends. We'll meet again." After Daud left, Mason and the others arrived "Dante! What was that explosion?!" Dante said "Sorry to worry you, guys. Just got done clearing an area of several strange soldiers that I've never seen before. However they got their equipment, it must be from another dimension. But from who?" Jenny said "Maybe as we jump from one world to another, we might find the answer. Now, I want to show you guys around my dimension. Your jaws will drop when you see Detroit." Faith said "Agreed. I'm eager to see what Detroit looks like." Mason said "Then Detroit it is. Let's go." However, far off in the distance, stood a lone figure, watching as the four entered the open portal, with a grin on his hooded face. "These four seem special. Could they be the ones I'm looking for?" As the portal closed, his eyes shined "I'll keep an eye on them." With a snap of his fingures, he disappeared into the void.
Sorry it took so long, I've been really busy and didn't have the time and inspiration to do so, so if you have any ideas, let me know in the reviews if you want. Anyways, hope you like it! Be sure to review!
