Here we go again…FYI, I wrote these 4 chapters within the span of 2 days…I'm not a very busy person.

some *almost* fluff between Blade and Roach. Yeah. They *almost* kiss. I'm not telling you where ;)

Oh! And we find out the origin/meaning of Blade's name! :D *happy tears* And there will be sparks between those two! 3 eeekkkk! My girly-ness is coming out! Ew!

And Roach nearly dies from fish. *rolls eyes* come on Roach. You didn't earn your name for that kinda stuff.

Maybe he had imagined it. It could have been a trick of the light. Or a flickering light.

It didn't feel like it though.

He didn't want to keep Blade waiting, so he quickly dried off his face with his shirt and hurried out. She raised an eyebrow at him as he came out.

"Took your time mate." She scolded playfully as they headed towards the mess hall.

"Sorry. I saw- uh, I decided to wash my hands as well before dinner." He stuttered. That definitely was not true. He never washed his hands before dinner. Only if they were actually dirty, or after he went to the bathroom. He was never really one for hygiene.

Blade furrowed her brow and looked ahead, possibly deep in thought. Maybe she didn't believe him. Well TOO BAD SIS. He would wait until later when he could talk to her about what he had seen. Or until he could trust her.

Yeah. That's right. He didn't completely trust her just yet. He didn't know anything about. In Roach's world, if he didn't know someone's favourite colour and animal, he didn't know them. So he would have to ask.

As they entered the mess hall together, side by side, a few looked up at them and smirked. They found an empty table and grabbed a tray of food and a drink and sat down across from each other.

They ate in silence for a bit, before Roach asked,

"How did you get your name?" he took a sip from his glass of water.

"Back in basic, they noticed I had a natural knack for combat with knives. Throwing knives, close combat, you name it. That's when everyone started calling me Blade, and it kind of stuck. What about you?"

Roach wasn't expecting a question back, and he tried to swallow quickly to answer her, but he hadn't chewed his food properly and it got stuck in his throat. In about half a second, he couldn't breathe, and opened his mouth wordlessly with his hand on his throat.

He started gasping for air, and screwed his face shut from the pain in his throat.

"Shit, Roach, you okay?" she got up from her seat and patted him hard on the back, and he tried to cough or swallow the food stuck in his throat, and it seemed to work, as he felt the lump disappear, but another sharp pain was caught in his throat.

Oh no.

He had choked on fish.

Please don't tell me that's a fucking bone caught in my throat! He started panicking from lack of air, and Blade called his name, trying to get his attention, but he couldn't concentrate on her voice.

Fuzzy spots danced in his vision as he choked, and felt himself leaning and falling from something, then the world went dark- and he still couldn't breathe.

She didn't know what was wrong. He was clearly choking, but it seemed he had choked on his food one moment, then swallowed it, then the next moment he was choking again.

He fell of his chair, lifeless. Unconscious.

And not breathing.

Someone rushed over to them while Blade was shaking Roach, telling him to wake up.

"Go fetch a doctor!" Someone yelled.

Uh oh.

Blood had started to ooze from Roach's mouth.

That can't be good.

He had something sharp in his throat, that was for sure. He face was turning blue from lack of oxygen.

Someone came rushing back with the doctor in tow, and he had several strange looking metal things with him. What were they for?

Wait.

Oh my god.

He's not going to stick THAT down his throat is he?!

The doctor had some sort of super-long tweezers, and before she had time to look away, the doctor put the long-things very carefully down his throat, holding jaw with his other hand while doing so. He seemed to have found something, because he pulled the long things out of his throat and-

Oh. Gross.

Roach had choked on a large and menacingly sharp fish bone for fuck's sake. That was reasonable, seeing the size of it.

Who the HELL didn't de-bone the fucking fish properly?! Her mind screamed. She didn't even notice that Roach had started taking shaky breaths again, but blood still slowly oozed from his mouth.

She was staring at him, begging him to wake up, when his eyes fluttered open. He groaned sorely, and she went over to him and looked at him in the eyes.

"Did I just die from choking on a fucking fish bone?" he muttered tiredly. The doctor answered him.

"Heh. No, I got the bone out, but it may have ripped open your oesophagus a bit. So you'll need to let it heal, ok?"

Roach nodded and the doctor helped him up and guided him down the hallway, with blood still oozing from his mouth.

Blade sighed and cleaned up Roach's tray of food, then sat down to finish her dinner.

So much had happened on her first day already.

Roach seemed to be in a hospital bed with some weird stuff around his throat, and he was so tired. At least he got to eat a bit.

He wondered how long he would be here.

With the lights going out for him at 7, he quickly drifted off.

…..

He was being chased down an endless hallway by a giant shadow. The thing looked like it was half wolf, half dragon and as agile as a leopard. He heard laughter echoing off the walls.

Wait.

That was the same laughter when everyone was teasing him about liking Blade.

What was happening?

The dream world went dark, so he stopped running. The creature that was black as ink has turned white as paper. The eye sockets that where white were now black. Its colours had been completely inverted.

He noticed that on its paws and on top of it head going down its back, was sharp spines. They almost looked like….

Blades.

The giant wolf/dragon creature leapt at him with grace and fierceness, and pinned him on the ground. It lowered its giant head slowly….

And ripped his throat out.

White ink-ish looking stuff poured from him, he assumed it was blood in this dream.

The creature slashed at his stomach wit its blade-like claws, and more of the white ink-ish blood poured from him, and he wondered how he wasn't dead yet.

The creature lifted its head, as if a dog were hearing a call from its master, then turned and disappeared into the blackness of the dream.

Roach bolted upright, he was shaking and panting and covered in sweat. He laid back down as he realised it was just a dream and he was still in the infirmary.

It was going to be a long night.

Blade was laying in bed. She was having a wonderful dream.

She and Roach were racing each other through a moonlit forest, no idea where they were racing to. Suddenly, Roach tripped over, and because Blade was right behind him, she tripped over him too.

They rolled down a steep hill, until they stopped at the bottom in a patch of moonlight, with Roach on his back and Blade laying on his chest. She lifted herself up and realised Roach was staring at her intently. She had a weird, sparky feeling in her chest.

She leant down towards his moonlit face, and his eyes grew wider. When they were just an inch apart from each other, she heard crashing coming through the dark forest. She snapped her head up and saw an un-earthly looking creature standing on a large tree root above them.

The creature was pitch black with white eye sockets, and looked like some kind of dragon mixed with a wolf, because of its legs and tail.

It leapt at them and knocked Blade off of Roach, she expected it to attack her, but it just knocked her out of the way.

As soon as the creature wandered into the moonlit patch, it exploded into weird black soul-looking things, or….

Demons.

They all laughed at Roach and he slammed his eyes shut and covered his ears. As soon as he did this, however, the demons started clawing at him everywhere on his prone body. He opened his mouth to scream, but no sound came out. What might have been blood was pouring from Roach's wounds, but it was inky-white.

When the screams stopped, and Roach seemed to lay lifeless, the demons turned to look at her, then they merged back into the giant wolf/dragon creature. It was white this time, with black eye sockets. On its paws upwards to its legs looked like black ink splatters.

It was Roach's blood.

They creature leapt for her, but the dream was thrown into the darkness as she fell into a giant hole that swallowed her up….

Blade's eyes shot open. She looked over at her digital clock on her dresser. 3:45am. Damn. She won't be getting back to sleep, that's for sure.

She wondered if Roach was dreaming as well.
