…Pro tip: never go to college. I've never been so mentally tired and in a rut like I have been recently. I was sitting on my bed self-loathing about an anatomy test and saw my journal under my desk when the strongest urge to write hit me again. I almost forgot about the story with all the going ons. I already feel a little more relaxed as I write, so that's cool. We're at the point in the story where I'm running out of previous material, so it may or may not take longer to write. Regardless, it's a blast to daydream and brainstorm about all the ideas I could put to paper…well, computer screen, you get it.

-Chapter 4, Magic and Junk-

Finn and Jake were both awestruck at the tale laid before them, Finn especially. Hearing a story of how awesome and powerful his people could be changed everything. He's seen a bunch of strong people, and heard way more stories about even more, but nothing like this. Could he become this powerful? Was Spencer this strong? How powerful could a human even be? He wanted to know more. He HAD to know more.

"Whoa, how'd they do that?!" Finn asked as sat on his knees facing Spencer.

"…Magic, dude. It's not we're element benders or anything like that." Spencer nonchalantly said with a smile to his fellow human.

"DUDE, that's awesome! Can all the monks do magic?! Can YOU do magic?! Are you folks ALL that strong?!" Finn jumped to his feet firing off questions at Spencer. His body reminded him of his head trauma as a splitting headache put him back on his buns.

"You're at about an 11 right now, let's turn it down to 8, alright?" Spencer teased Finn as he held his bandaged head and Jake chuckled at his brother's expense.

"To answer your rapid-fire questions though, not all of us, yes I can, and while we're all strong, there are some even more powerful than me if you can believe it." Spencer finished with a wink and a chuckle.

Jake leaned on the front of his makeshift drawer-bed and asked, "So what kind of magic do you use? We've seen just about every kind, whether it was used against us or not." All three heroes got a chuckle from Jake's comment.

"I'd love to tell you and even show you if you're up for it!" Spencer sat up on the foot of Finn's bed and adjusted his gloves looking from Jake to Finn. Finn being obviously more pumped to see Spencer's magic in action. "First thing's first, do you have any metal objects sticking out in here? If there is, a chain reaction could occur, and the whole treehouse could be torn apart…"

A stale silence filled the room as Jake was startled at the risk of his home being destroyed, while Finn was looking around the room for any metal items he'd quickly have to toss out to see the show.

"Kidding, just joshing you guys." Spencer laughed at the extremely awkward silence in the room. Finn and Jake shared a half-nervous nervous chuckle at Spencer's "joke". "For realsies though I specialize in-" Spencer snapped his fingers on his right hand and an instant arc between his fingers flashed into a crackling ball of blue lighting hovering over his palm. ".-Electromancy, or just lightning magic, first title just sounds baller." Spencer explained as he bounced the orb between his hands.

Finn and Jake were honestly a little lost looking at the magic. Neither of them have seen lighting longer than a strike during a thunder storm. It was kind of amazing how something that can be so powerful and fleeting could be held in someone's hand…it was beautiful, actually.

Spencer let the ball dissipate in the air with a couple last crackles and snickered at his hosts' partially dumbfounded expressions. While Finn rubbed his eyes after refusing to blink, Jake asked,

"Lighting magic? We've never seen or heard about anything like that."

"Yeah, that's the unfortunate part about it. A few years back, Grand Master Wizard outlawed it on account of being too unstable and hard to control. He started censoring scrolls and even removing them from the magical libraries. Fortunately for me, all the material on it was safe in the monastery back home…seeing as how we were in the middle of the ocean…and most folks kind of forgot we were there." Spencer finished with a chuckle while rubbing the back of his head.

"That's so crazy. Does anyone else do it back home?" Finn asked as he leaned against the wall. Spencer stood up and looked out the window while answering,

"No, actually, a few tried, but their inherent magic control wasn't strong enough to compensate for electricity's ever-changing form. The only ones who can use it are my master Raiden and me."

"Raiden…I feel like I've heard that before…" Jake furrowed his brow at the familiar name.

"You're probably thinking of his Grandfather, he was a lightning user too. Raiden's a family name apparently." Spencer picked up his backpack and started walking towards the door. "Welp, you goons need some rest and I'm overstaying my welcome I'm sure. Thanks for giving me a place to chill and I'll check on you in a day or two to make sure the bandages hold, plus I gotta make sure your noggins heal. I'll show myself out." He finished with a polite grin and waved as he made his way to the ladder down.

"Wait!" Finn and Jake both exclaimed, making Spencer stop in the doorway and turn around with a questioned look. "You think we're just going to kick you out after saving our lives? You totally deserve a bed to sleep in tonight." Finn said to their house guest.

"Oh no, I possibly couldn't ask that, I was just passing by is all." Spencer held his hands up honored, but too humble to accept an offer like that.

"Well it's a good thing you're not asking, we're telling you how it is." Jake said as he stretched his arms to hook Spencer's bag off his back. Then Jake slowly got down from bed and Finn did the same.

"Well, you twisted my arm I guess." Spencer said with a chuckle as he followed Jake and Finn to his room for the night.

Man it felt good to write again. It does the mind good to dust the cogs off once in a while and use them for something you actually enjoy. I hope I can start updating a little more consistently, I'd love to get this story out quicker. As always thanks for reading! Review are always tubular. Later peeps!
