Chapter III: Of Sudume and no names.

"Who wouldn't?"

It is what Rin said to him. Yes, she means it. Who wouldn't in their right minds wouldn't run away from the king himself when they had a chance especially when you're an enemy of the kingdom? She would, absolutely would run at the chance of escaping. After Len and the nurse walked out the room, Rin sigh in relief. Finally, some me time.

'I need a plan...' A plan to escape and this time successfully. Rin hate to lie but in Spades, lying is one of the survival skill. Yes, it's one of the survival skills. Everything she said to Len just now was the truth. And she hate the truth.

She didn't actually kill her comrades to escape and the thing about being attacked by monsters is true. She's the one who lead them there and that time she took her sweet time and pretend to be eaten by the monsters of the dark forest.

Meiko must be very frustrated with her but Rin knows she will understand the burden she's held on her shoulder. Meiko had been a very important person while she's at Spade almost like a sibling. Meiko too but... Rin touch her red coloured eyes and flinched. She shouldn't be thinking about this and should be planning on escaping.

However, she doubt she could escape in this condition. With a wound like this, she could die from blood lost. Besides, where could she escape? The Diamonds or the Clover? Obviously she couldn't think of staying here disguised, Len will come to search for her. And returning back to Spades is a death wish. The Queen of Spades, the Red Tyrant Sukone Tei will have her head. Rin shuddered at the thought of her own Queen. Truly a death wish.

Rin sigh again and massage her forehead. Thinking about this is really giving her a headaches. She really need to get out of this place. Really. And unnoticed too.

Len look outside at the children playing, Nakamiya Sudume and Nakamiya Rita. Dr. Nakamiya adopted children. The boy, Sudume with green hair and yellow eyes while Rita with black hair and lavender coloured eyes. They don't look like siblings at all but still treat each other dearly. Len look at them with envy. It reminded him of Rin and himself.

Len tore away from the sight of them playing together. So much painful memories and decided to look back at the door where the Spades general lies. At least he gets to interrogate the man though... Despite that, he couldn't help but feel as if the guy is Rin. They look and almost sound alike except his voice sounds deeper and lower than the Rin he remembered. And also the eyes. Rin had two blue coloured eyes while this man had two different coloured eyes, red and blue.

Len scowled at this. If he, Rinto would had two blue eyes like him he could really thought the guy is Rin. Len wanted to interrogate him again but every time he walks near the door, the nurse that shooed him out will appeared out of nowhere and give him a glare. Len shivered slightly and wondered how the nurse could appeared out of nowhere.

He couldn't do anything now but for now he'll wait. And if Rinto dares to run away again, he'll make sure the guy will be tied to a chair, injured or not he doesn't care.

Pop asked Rita and Sudume to give this food the Mr. Rinto. Rita pouted that Rita's playtime with Sudume were disturbed but they still do as they are told. 'But this is so troublesome!' Rita thought to herself angrily. Pushing the tray with food on it while Su-chan following beside Rita, we finally reach Mr. Rinto's room. Rita look at Sudume.

"Now listen carefully Su-chan! When me and you go into the room, you just keep quiet and let me do the work 'kay?" She said to her younger by 3 days adopted brother. Her brother just gave her a nodded but look at her, annoyed by her sentences and the nickname.

"I hate it when you call me that. And it's you and I, not me and you Rita-neechan" he tried to correct her but he knows Rita wouldn't listen and shook his head. What a foolishly arrogant pride his sister had. Nothing smart ever goes through her thick skull.

Rita knocked the door multipled time before entering. Pushing the tray of food into the room with a smile when both of them see Mr. Rinto looking outside the window, boredly. Then he turn around and look at us, staring with his multicolor eyes. Both Rita and Sudume had been thought that Spades are all bad guys but when Rita look at the man in front of her, she couldn't help but feel that the man in front is not evil or bad, the same goes for Sudume.

"Me and Su-chan bought food for you Mr. Rinto! We hope you'll like it!" Rita placed the bowl of corn soup on the table besides the bed along with a piece of French bread and a mug of milk. Sudame noticed that the man look curiously at the food before giving us a very small smile and the whole room brights up.

"Thank you for bringing the food for me, child" The man in front of them said softly, almost soothing and making both him and his sister blush lightly at the kind tone. He patted both of their heads before looking at the food and grab the mug of milk and drink it slowly. Sudume could only look at the man in front of him drink as he kept quiet and glance at his sister.

'We should go now' his amber colored eye told her and for the first time, Rita nodded her head and look at the man in front of her shyly. When they walk out, Sudume heard the man sigh tiredly. The green haired boy couldn't help but worried because his dream is to become a doctor like his foster father. So he could help and aid them instead of killing them off. And he doesn't want to ignored when a patient is displeased about something.

Rita, however, already skipping away happily in the hallway and even if Sudume shout for her, he knows she wouldn't listen or wouldn't hear. Sudume turn around and look at the patient. "Is there something wrong, Mr. Rinto?" Sudume asked him, worried but also scared because Rita's not here and that this man is still a Spade. It doesn't change the fact that Mr. Rinto is an enemy of the neighbouring kingdom.

Rin look at him, blankly. She knows he's scared of her without his older siblings. She shook her head slowly and look at the now empty mug. In the end, she choose to stay because there's no way she can escape now. And the fact that the Hearts is the kindest among the other three, she knows they wouldn't kill her and interrogate her to know about their enemy, the Spades.

"Child... There's nothing wrong with me" she said slowly and look at the young boy with amber coloured eyes. The boy narrowed his eyes and frown a bit. "I don't mean to be rude but I have a name you know. My name is Sudume, not child. And I know you're lying! Something's bother you and I want to know it so I can helped!" Sudume said quite loudly but not loudly for everyone to hear.

Rin sigh again. She's been sighing a lot today it seems. The ch- no... Sudume reminded her so much of Len in the past that it pains her. The loud, obnoxious yet kind boy she met 12 years ago. Sudume still standing there, arms cross onto his chest. Yes... The boy really reminded her of Len in the past. And the Len that time is stubborn as a bull, so this boy must also be stubborn as a bull too.

She needs to change the subject quickly.

"Sudume... Interesting... It means sparrow right?" Rin asked him, changing the subject quickly. Fortunately, lady luck's on her side this time. The boy seems to stare at her blankly before nodding.

"Yeah... Sudume means sparrow... It was a name Pop gave to me when he adopted me..." Sudume eyes lightened a bit at the mention of his father. "Pop save me from the slums. Before he came, I never had a proper name. I was called street rat, brat and worse is trash. I was hurt, never knowing my parents nor my own name..." Sudume didn't know why he's telling this guy this, but something about his aura made him wanting to tell.

"I finally lost hope on living and thinking of killing myself. That time, Pop found me. He saved me, feed me, shelter me and love me. When he knows I didn't have a name, he gave me a name and that's Sudume" the 9 years old said as if his rewinding the time back then. Rin flinched at the thought of someone so young killing themselves but she also knows what it felt to live in the slums.

"Sudume" the green haired boy said, copying the tone of his godfather "it means sparrow. You're like a sparrow that once been caged and unloved by, is finally free to fly and find the love it seeks..." Sudume closed his eyes. Rin thought his attitude is too mature for someone like him but like she's one to talk about attitude and maturing. But really. The boy knows so much big words for someone his age.

"I loved him. And I don't know why am I telling you this... But you gave this weird aura, as if I could trust you wholeheartedly..." Yellow eyes met multicoloured eyes. Rin just closed her eyes before smiling.

"I... You must love him very much, no? I understand... I truly understand..." Rin whispered in a soft tone, smiling to herself. "How can you understand my life?! How can you understand my love towards my foster father, my saviour?!" Sudume asked quite angrily because he had met many people who said they understood his feelings but they don't. And he hated it.

"Because I was once like you... Because I'm once also once no name" Rin said, looking sad and that time, Sudume felt as if there's a mutual understanding between them. He walks toward Rin and hugged her despite he knew the person he's hugging is an enemy but... This person is an enemy who understands his burden... His life...

Unknown to both of them, outside the door Len stood quietly. Listening to their conversation the entire time. And deep inside his heart, he began to feel softened towards his enemy. Towards the General of Spades, Rinto.

Before you asked me anything. Yes, Sudume is a girl but in this story I will and must change some of the vocaloids and utauloids gender because there's too much girls. Hehehe... Sudume to you may not be important right now but he'll be in the future and will also play a big role in this story. So stay alert for the next chapter, mom ami's!
