AN: What's up? I'm back! Sorry, if this is pretty short.
Carnelian
By the Diamonds! I thought. Why was is so cold in here?
When I had awoken, I found myself in what looked like a primitive building, but every object in here was frozen. I tried to summon a flame for a light, but it was too cold in here. The best I could get was some smoke.
Suddenly, I could hear footsteps. I stood up, ran to the side of the door and, kept my stance wide and my fists balled up. I wasn't about to let whoever was there take me down without a fight.
Someone then came in once the door opened and I punched whoever it was on the head. They fell down instantly and I backed away.
"Oh, Diamonds! It's a just a human!" I said, sighing. The human seemed young with brown hair and fair skin. He had a dark blue shirt, and a pair of jeans, with boots on. A small moan was heard and he started moving.
"Move slowly!" I shouted.
The human complied. He looked up with his brown eyes and he had freckles on his face. I remember Emerald telling me about the various feature human can have. The purpose? I have no freaking idea. Once he was up, I grabbed him and pinned him against the wall.
"Who are you?!" I said. "What am I doing here?! How did I get here?"
"S-Stop!" the human yelled. "You're… hurting me…"
I let him go and he dropped to the ground.
"I found you hurt and my dad and I brought you here," said the human.
And suddenly, it came back to me. Well, it was fuzzy. The figures, the flames, the pain and the darkness. I felt around for my gem, but it wasn't cracked anymore.
"You're gem was cracked so my dad used this special water to help you," the human continued.
I backed off, letting the human stand up.
"You helped me?" I said.
The human nodded.
"Why?"
The being stayed silent for a moment. His eyes were still staring at me, trying to be gentle.
"Because… you were hurt, and you needed help."
"But… Uh… Help?" I said. "Help me?" My finger pointed at myself.
"Well, yeah," said the human. "My name is Alex. What's yours?"
"N-Name?" I said, raising a brow.
"Y-You know?" Alex said, straightening out his shirt. "What people call you?"
"I'm a Carnelian. And…" Emerald suddenly crossed my mind. "Stars!" I ran out of that primitive, cold building and outside. Beyond this building were an endless field of lifeforms that grew from the ground and another building with strange creatures that were wandering just outside it surrounded by a primitive barrier. "Emerald? Emerald?!"
The Alex human came up from behind me.
"Emerald?" he said.
"You didn't see him?" I said.
"No," said Alex.
I formed fists in anger, but no flames formed… only smoke.
"Whoa! Stop!" Alex yelled, who reached and grabbed my wrists. "You'll burn this whole place down!" He pulled away instantly covering his palms. I reached for my screen, but it wasn't working. The button functioned, but there was only static. Upon hearing footsteps, I noticed that Alex was sneaking up on me, forcing me to flinch, but he didn't look threatening. Just… curious.
"Watch what your doing next time," I said, sternly.
"Uh… huh," Alex said, hesitantly. "So, are you okay?"
"Other than losing a fight, yes," I grumbled, as I tried fixing my screen.
"Oh. You lost a fight? Were you fighting a corrupted Gem?"
I froze just then and turned to face the human.
"You know about Gems?!" I said.
Alex nodded. "Of course! This is Skyfall Valley, after all."
I raised a brow.
"Sky… fall?"
"Well, yeah." Alex shrugged. "I thought you'd know about this place. You're a Crystal Gem, after all, right?"
"How DARE you compare me to one of those… Crystal Jerks!" I hissed.
Alex flinched, stepping back, his back hitting the wall of the building I came out of.
"Okay, okay!" he said. "Just stop yelling!"
"What's going on out here?!"
I was approached by yet another human. He emerged from a wooden structure and approached me with some sort of weapon. It looked extremely primitive. The human was older than Alex upon first glance.
"Who are you?!" I yelled. I formed fist, flames igniting.
The human set the weapon on the floor and raised his hands.
"Ma'am, we're not here to hurt you," he said. "We helped you. I know your confused, ma'am but you did save the town from a monster attack."
I said nothing, continuing to stare at this human before me.
"Please," he said. "No one needs to get hurt today."
I saw the pathetic human get up and run to the older one. Perhaps the older one was some kind of guardian? Even so, I doubt they could do much harm to me, anyway, now that my gem isn't cracked anymore. The flames on my hands dissipated.
"Fine," I said, flatly, "but I'm watching you."
Alex breathed a sigh of relief.
"Your designation, please?" I said. "I believe that younger human called itself an Alex?"
"Oh, my name?" said the older human. "I'm Richard." For some reason, he held out his hand.
"I'm Carnelian," I said. "Facet-9S6C cut 54B."
Richard took his hand back. "I… see. Okay, then. Now that we're all calm about this. Let's just… talk. Why don't you come in… as long as you don't burn down our house."
I sighed. "Fine. I won't."
The human called Richard led me inside, with Alex following from behind. I was led into a room with what appeared to be sitting arrangements. Nothing useful was on the table, so I wondered what these seats were for. Anyway, I was instructed to sit, so I did so. They began to explain what had happened, while I tried to fix my screen.
"And so, we brought you here and healed you with this special water that we had only for Gem emergencies," Alex said, as he finished explaining.
"So, if you're not a Crystal Gem, then… what kind of Gem are you?" said Richard.
"I… come from outer space," I said. I thought it would be safer if I didn't give away my true intentions. "We were traveling when we crashed."
"Oh yeah!" Alex said, almost jumping with excitement. "Rose said that there were Gems like her in space."
"True," said Richard. "It's an honor to meet an someone not from this planet."
"Well, those Crystal…" I tried so hard not to dissipate my form to not insult them, "Gems, aren't from this world either."
"True," said Richard, "but they chose to stay and live on this planet."
"Right…" I said. I gasped when my screen came back on. It seemed that communications was offline, though.
"What's that?" said Alex.
"I use this to communicate with Emerald," I said.
"Is he another Gem?"
"Yeah, he's gives me orders." I brought up a picture of him on my screen. The two humans looked impressed at this technology. "Have you seen this Gem?"
"I don't think so," said Alex.
"Sorry," Richard said, shaking his head.
"Hmph." I shut my screen off. "Didn't think so. Well, I'd better go searching." I stood up and walked toward the door.
"Hey, wait!" said Richard.
I stopped, biting back a growl.
"What?" I said.
"It's just… the mayor was going to come by tomorrow to thank you for saving the town," said Richard.
"And?"
"Well, the town watch will have to owe you for that," said Richard. "If anything, they could help you find this Emerald fella."
I gasped. "You'd better not be lying!" I began to glare.
"I'm not," Richard said, raising his hands in surrender. "Here in Skyfall Valley, we always pay back our debts. You saved us, so it's only the right thing to help you in return."
"Help… in return?" I said.
Alex who had been trembling in the corner nodded. As confusing as this was, I had to find Emerald. If Jasper had done anything to him, I don't think Yellow would forgive me. No! Screw Yellow! I couldn't bare Blue's sadness. No! I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to him!
"Are you okay?"
The voice came from Richard. I was so lost in my thoughts I didn't realize I was shaking. He reached out a hand for some reason, but I pushed it away.
"I'm fine," I said, trying to steady my shaking breath. "It's just… I've never been without My Emerald before."
"Don't worry about it," said Richard. "Just relax. We'll see to it that your reunited with your fellow Gem before too long. If anything, he could be nearby."
"Yeah," I said, nodding. I crossed my arms. "Sure… Hopefully."
"Come on," said Richard. "You can stay in the guest room."
"U-Um, Dad?" Alex stepped forward. "A-Are you sure?"
"Well, you were the one who suggested helping her, son." Richard then held out his hand towards the hallway. "This way, Miss Carnelian."
I stepped towards the hall and was led into the guestroom at the end of it. Once I stepped in I saw a room with wooden floorboards, a carpet had been laid out under what appeared to be a giant cushion table. I think it was a "bed." There were wooden storage containers that I could pull out left of the bed and a window. At least I knew a means of escape, should these humans prove to not be what they seem. Various photos hung on the wall showings places from earth, but they didn't seem to be an accurate depiction. It was mostly likely handmade by humans.
"You can rest in here tonight," said Richard. "Dinner will be ready soon if…" he trailed off. "Right. Gems don't need to eat. Well, if you want to eat, dinner will be ready soon."
"Helping me…?" I thought out loud. "In return?"
"Is there something wrong?" said Richard.
"It's just… I've never heard of anyone doing that before."
Richard chuckled. "Well, welcome to Earth."
