Chapter 3

The dark sea water splashed against the cement walls of the dock, tricklets of water hitting the walkway. The night sky was surprisingly bright as the moon over head illuminated the various warehouses, shining into their windows and providing the workers with a beautiful shimmer as it bounced off the conveyer belt.

Saul gave a tired sigh as he scribbled more notes on his clipboard. He hated having to work the late nights like this, but they had to get this shipment out by the morning or else it was gonna be his head. Unfortunately, to make matters worse, it wasn't just him who had to suffer through this. Five of his best workers were called in to help him get everything ready, and, based on the looks on their faces, they were just as tired as he was.

Saul felt terrible about this; they had been working relentlessly since the early hours of the morning yesterday, and they were beat. Not only that, but he also had to pull them away from their families, something he hated to do, especially since he himself was a family man. He had no doubt that his wife was probably exhausted at home right now as she tried to stay awake to greet him as well as taking care of their newborn baby girl. Saul had to repress a sigh at the thought of that; he would make it up to both of them as well as his son and his workers who he had promised to pay double for their extra time and give them the rest of the weekend off.

"Hey, Boss." Saul turned to see one of his workers, scratching the back of his head awkwardly which instantly worried Saul.

"What is it, Mike?" he asked.

"Something's up with the machine. It just stopped and we can't figure out what's wrong with it," he said, pointing back at the machine in question. "We've tried taking it apart and looking at the parts, but there's nothing wrong with it. It literally just stopped."

"Alright, let's give her a look." Walking over, the two men examined the interior intently, checking over each piece with certainty, but it was just as Mike said. Everything was completely fine and in perfect working order. Scratching his head, he leaned back in confusion. "I don't get it. What could be making the machine act like this?"

"Did you try checking the plug?"

"Why the hell wouldn't the machine be plugged in?" Saul asked in annoyance at the idiotic question. Turning around to give the worker who had spoken a scathing look, he was confused to find no one there.

"I'm pretty sure you should check the plug," the voice said again, causing him to turn around again to find no one standing there, other than Mike who was now just as confused as he was.

A loud giggle startled the two men, causing them to jump in surprise as well as grab the attention of the remaining four workers who were now looking around for the strange sound.

"Who's there!? Where are you!?" One of the men called out.

"Well that's easy," the voice said. "I'm right here! And as for who I am, well that's easy too. Or, it would be I guess if you knew me…or could see me."

A sense of panic began to surge through the air as the workers gathered around each other, eyes darting around the warehouse nervously. One of the workers jumped backward, bumping into Saul at the sound of the high-pitched giggling that was around them.

Swallowing his nerves, Saul called out, "Is this some kind of joke!? Show yourself!"

"Oh this is no joke," the voice called out. A bright light shined in front of him, Saul's face going pale as the owner of the voice popped into existence right before him. A loud gasp escaped his mouth as what appeared to be a white bed sheet floated in front of him, bellowing aimlessly as a loud moan echoed from it. The men paled as they began to back away, scared witless at the apparition before them.

With each step, the ghost moved closer and closer to them, scaring the men even more. That is, until they heard it go, "Boo!" and lunge at them. Loud screams rang throughout the air as the men ran as fast and far as they could from the warehouse.

The bed sheet dropped to the ground as Danielle laughed loudly, tears of enjoyment coming to her eyes.

"Oh this is just too easy," she said to herself. As her laughter died down, Danielle floated upward, going intangible and phasing out in the open night sky. After a light stretch of her muscles, Danielle began to fly away. "Nothing better than scaring a few innocent people to kill some time. Wonder what I should do now."

A light growl from her stomach reminded Danielle of why she had come out in the first place. She didn't know why, but for some reason, she was always hungry now. No matter how much she ate, she seemed to get hungry quickly after. Here she was, twelve years old, and she could eat a whole pizza by herself, as well as chug and entire two liter of soda, and an hour later, she was looking for more food. It really was a good thing that her mother was rich or else she'd have eaten her family out of house and home.

That thought reminded Danielle of something she had noticed. Her parents had been somewhat secretive lately about…something. What exactly it was, she didn't know, but she had a good feeling that whatever it was had something to do with her sudden increase in appetite. She would have to ask them about that later when she could.

Her stomach growled again, growing in irritation at the absence of food. Danielle sighed; she had hoped to actually be able to sleep the whole night and not have to sneak out of her room to get something to eat, but after almost three hours of restless sleep, she knew she would have to go scavenging. Unfortunately, her mother's fridge held nothing that seemed appetizing to her, leading Danielle to leave her home and make her way around town in hopes of finding food…and maybe a bit of mischief.

It was no secret that Danielle loved to prank people, and the only people she loved to prank more than her family were the superstitious townspeople of Amity Park, who almost made it too easy. I mean, she actually just scared away a bunch of warehouse workers wearing a bed sheet.

Danielle giggled at the thought, and wondered if her parents had ever done such things, but would never actually ask them; her late night escapades would more often than not end up the early morning news, and after having gotten caught a few times trying to sneak out, she knew better then to try and test her luck or lead them onto the fact that their suspicions were correct and that she had been behind the numerous ghost sightings. Breaking curfew and sneaking out were bad enough, why add a third strike and get her butt grounded for ratting herself out.

"No thanks," she mumbled to herself, flying carelessly over the remaining warehouses. Her electric green eyes drifted down, scanning across the buildings and paused over one as she noticed that the lights were still on, meaning that someone was still there.

Danielle paused in her flight, considering her options. On one hand, she was really hungry, and did need to get something to eat; she could easily make it to the Nasty Burger and back home in time to not get caught by her mother, should she still be awake and decided to check on her.

On the other hand, she really did get a sense of enjoyment out of scaring people, and one more prank couldn't hurt, right? It's not as if anyone knew it was her. Though if she did, she may not have enough time to grab any food, and she could really use it.

Of course there was the third hand, where she gets caught, and her parents destroy her existence. Now that she thought about it, she actually didn't know where they were at the moment. She just assumed that they were both at their respective homes, sound asleep, and not out, scanning the town looking for her, punishment at the ready.

"Well, I guess the choice is pretty obvious," she said, a devious smile coming to her face as she shot downward to the building in anticipation.

"I'm telling you, Danny, she's got it bad," Sam said, brushing her wet hair while holding the phone with her shoulder. "She's eating almost twice as much as you are; it doesn't make sense."

"Sam, you know it's just a side effect of our physiology," Danny replied from his end. "Unlike the two of us, who were already going through the change gradually as our powers developed, Danielle's are skyrocketing way faster because of her forced growth. Her body's burning up the calories way faster than we do because she's going through the change a lot faster."

"I know, I know, but it still worries me. She's going to freak out when she finds out about it and that we've been keeping it a secret from her."

"I know, but I've talked to Clockwork, and he says that this is normal for us. I mean, aside from when I went to see him, we haven't been to the Ghost Zone in a few weeks. Her body needs to compensate."

"Do you think it's a good idea to let her keep eating like this?" Sam asked, as she headed out of her room to go check on Danielle. She had heard some shuffling coming from her room earlier, and assumed she was having trouble sleeping, but now that it was silent, she wanted to be sure her daughter was alright.

"Well, for the time being, it'll have to do. We'll start weaning her soon after we tell her, but for now, we just have to let it go. I mean, it's not like the alternative it any better."

"I suppose you're-" Sam's eye grew wide as she found the room empty, though that quickly turned to anger. "She is in so much trouble."

"Sam? Everything ok?"

"No, but it will be; soon as we find Danielle and I kick her tiny butt for sneaking out," Sam said, her eyes changing green as she looked out the window.

Danielle turned intangible, easily slipping through the roof of the warehouse as a soft giggle played at her lips. Her mind was filling with ideas of how she would scare the people here.

"I'll start with the lights," she whispered to herself as she touched down behind a large number of stacked boxes before moving forward to hide while she planned out her moves. "Once that happens, I'll do the whole voice echo thing that always gets people. After that, I'll make all the boxes levitate and glow; show the Box Ghost how to really do it."

Her plan now set, Danielle peaked over one of the boxes blocking her view, preparing to start, but stopped, smile slipping from her face to be replaced by a gawking opened mouth stare. Before her was a large red…she had no clue what it was actually, but if she had to guess, it looked almost like a space ship, and a fancy one no doubt.

Ok, so she was definitely not expecting that when she decided to drop in here. What could she possibly have stumbled upon? Alien invasion? Secret government plot?

That last thought sent a small shiver up her back; if this had anything to do with the government, or, more accurately, the Guys in White, she was so not sticking around to get a better look. The last thing she needed was to get caught and experimented on by a bunch of anti-ghost hating creeps like them.

"Well that was a bust." Danielle heard someone say.

Danielle's focus shifted to the right were she saw a small group of people, some sitting on boxes, others standing around, all looking at a teenage girl in the middle. Danielle's eyes narrowed as she inspected them; they all seemed to be wearing costumes. Or at least three of them did. The first guy was dressed up like a big blue bug, something that actually creeped her out a lot. He was standing next to two other people who were dressed up, and even though they had their backs to her, Danielle felt like she had seen them before.

The three sitting on the boxes made her eyes grow wide in shock; they were three of the kids that they had talked to earlier. The tall, brooding one, Conner, had lost his jacket and was now wearing a long sleeved black shirt and gloves with a red "S" shield on the front. The boy next to him, Virgil, had unzipped his shirt to reveal a lightning bolt surrounded by an electrical circle.

The third one, the girl Annie, had changed the most, though Danielle could still tell it was her. She now wore a pair of black army boots, as well as a matching black skirt and leotard. Around her shoulders was a black jean jacket that stopped at her waist and a pair of fingerless gloves on her hands. Her long blonde hair had been pulled back into a ponytail.

Danielle's eyes grew in shock; she knew that girl! How did she not notice the similarities before!? She practically idolized Black Canary and was way beyond jealous of her sidekick, Mockingbird…who was here…right now…in Amity Park…and had spoken to her…

Danielle would be having a serious fangirl moment right now if it wasn't for the fact that this was way serious. She was with that group that was looking for them! Why the heck was the Justice League looking for them!? Maybe to ask them to join? Though, that seemed unlikely, it didn't hurt to hope, right?

"Not necessarily, Static," the red headed masked girl said. A holographic screen appeared from her wrist as well as a small keyboard. "We may not have made contact with the Phantoms yet, but we did find out just how much this town adores them."

"And that information could benefit us in the long run. Not to mention whatever info we may get from those Fenton kids tomorrow," the caped boy next to her said.

"Robin and Batgirl are right," Conner said. "We don't even know what these guys are capable of. Or any ghosts for that matter. Fighting them without knowing what we're up against would be idiotic."

Danielle nearly screamed as her ectoplasmic blood ran cold in fright at what she had just heard. Those two were Batgirl and Robin!? The Robin, as in the sidekick of the Batman!? As in the world's greatest detective!? As in the scariest human being that has ever walked this earth!? And if that wasn't scary enough, they were actively looking for them to fight them, or, more likely, to capture them for some reason. Could the League have been the ones to send them that message? Considering what this Conner kid was saying, it was extremely unlikely that it was them.

All of this information was starting to give Danielle a serious headache, as well as scaring the crap out of her. And why wouldn't it!? She's barely a year old, and she's had to worry more about crazy, evil, psycho people than anyone should. And now, to top off the tip of the iceberg, to put the icing on the cake, the freaking Justice League, the heroes of the world and the people she and he parents have looked up to in an effort to keep themselves motivated to be as heroic as possible, were looking for them and planning to kick their butts!

"What's that?" the bug boy said, looking at his backpack. "Another life form? Here? Where?"

Danielle gave a small gasp as she realized in horror that they were talking about her; she had been caught! Unfortunately for her, that small gasp instantly alerted Conner to her position behind the boxes. Turning invisible, Danielle prayed to the Realms that they hadn't seen her.

The others looked in the same direction that Superboy and Blue Beetle were looking, everyone at the ready for a surprise attack. However, nothing came and no one seemed to be insight.

"Where are they?" Mockingbird asked, her eyes darting around. "Do you think it's one of the Phantoms?"

Narrowing his eyes, Superboy turned on his inferred vision, scanning over the area, and stopping as he noticed the shape of a small figure, though the temperature seemed to be degrees lower than that of a normal person.

"Over there," he whispered, nodding in Danielle's direction. With a powerful leap, Superboy drew back before slamming his fist into the box that Danielle was hiding behind. The wood splintered as the box shattered, pieces flying everywhere. Danielle screamed as the force of the blow sent her flying back and into another box, her back hitting it painfully, causing her invisibility to drop. With a groan, Danielle looked up only to draw back in recoil as she stared into the dangerous eyes of Superboy.

"Check it out," Static said as the others jogged up to Superboy's side, their eyes trained on the startled Phantom. "It's one of the Phantoms."

"It's the smallest one, Ellie," Mockingbird said.

"Don't move!" Robin warned as his eyes narrowed at her. Danielle, fearing for her own safety, lifted her hands, both of which were a glow with green ecto-energy, and shot a blast directly into Superboy's chest, propelling him backwards. The other's dove out of the way as he skidded across the ground. Robin and Batgirl instantly went on the attack, throwing their projectiles at the girl, who turned intangible and slipped into the floor.

Mockingbird was at Superboy's side instantly, a tender hand on his chest as she helped him sit up. The young Kryptonian groaned as he shook his head to clear himself of the pain from her attack.

"Conner, are you ok?" She asked worriedly.

"Yeah, I'm fine. But that blast really hurt. I don't know what kinda energy she uses, but it packs a punch," he said.

"It kinda looked like kryptonite, only energized," Static said as he and the others looked around for any traces of her.

"No, it definitely wasn't kryptonite," he said with a shake of his head. "Trust me, I've felt it, and if it was, that blast would have put a hole through my chest with how powerful it was."

"The Scarab says it's never seen that kinda energy before and has no data on it," Blue Beetle said still looking around the room for her.

"Can you track her?" Batgirl asked, receiving a nod in response.

"Scanning…" he said, his eyes glowing a bright orange as he looked around. He paused, his arm changing into its Sonic Cannon form before releasing a blast from it. "There!"

Danielle screamed as she was once again thrown back, her invisibility and intangibility dropping as her focus was broken by the sound. Struggling to block out the sound, she began to throw ecto-disk at them, a rain of green energy hailing down upon them.

The team scattered once more, everyone ducking for cover to avoid getting hit. Robin quickly took out one of his Birdarangs, tossing it at her. The small device beeped as it neared her before blowing up and causing her to fall closer to the ground. Static jumped up, firing off a pulse of electromagnetic power toward her. Danielle was luckily able to recover in enough time to put up a barrier that deflected the blast back at Blue Beetle who shouted as he was thrown back from being hit by the surge of power.

Danielle touched down, looking up as a shadow descended upon her. Batgirl narrowly missed landing on her, continuing her assault as she tried to strike Danielle with quick jabs and kicks. Danielle was having an unbelievably hard time dodging the hits from the martial arts expert, causing her to nearly tripping over her own feet.

Mockingbird quickly jumped to her teammate's aid, attacking Danielle from the opposite side, throwing her off even more as she tried to defend herself against the simultaneous attacks of the two young women. With a series of quick jabs, Batgirl hit Danielle in the stomach effectively knocking the wind out of her before it was quickly followed up by a strong uppercut by Mockingbird.

Pain flared through Danielle's jaw, and only got worse as a sudden, very powerful punch to the face sent her crashing into a poor defenseless box which was instantly reduced to splinters from the impact. Superboy stood back to his full height, watching the young Phantom whose back was turned as she lay on the ground, unmoving.

Everyone moved in cautiously, waiting to see if she was actually down. As they drew closer, Danielle groaned in pain, carefully pushing herself up. The others went rigid in defense, waiting for her to make a move, while Danielle could only shake as the pain from Superboy's punch pulsated through her face. Danielle had never been hit so hard in her life, and she could say without a doubt that it hurt like hell.

A small trickle of green blood dripped from her nose and to the floor in front of her, creating a small puddle before her while her back remained turned to the heroes.

"Give up! You're outnumbered," Robin said, his staff pointed out toward her. No one knew what to expect from her next, but what happened was definitely the most surprising thing that they could have imagined.

Soft sobs came from the small girl, her body shaking slightly with each one. The team looked on in surprise as their opponent seemed to be…crying? No, that couldn't be right. Since when did a supervillain cry? They all looked at each other in confusion, their defenses slipping at the sight. Danielle sniffled, though it was hard since her nose was running with blood and most likely broken, making Superboy feel somewhat guilty. And why wouldn't he? He just decked a little girl like she was a heavyweight powerhouse.

"Dude…"Static said, guilt plaguing him. Looking to Mockingbird, he wasn't surprised to see a similar look on her face.

"What have we done?" Mockingbird asked, though it was more of a rhetorical question. "She's just a kid, and we…"

"We attacked her without even thinking twice," Blue Beetle said. Jaime could hear the Scarab saying something, but was too wrapped in his guilt to notice the very loud warning about Danielle's emotional state.

Walking past Superboy, Mockingbird drew nearer to Danielle and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder, preparing to apologize for what they did, when, to their surprise, Danielle turned on a dime and backhanded her with a closed fist, sending her flying through the air and straight into an unsuspecting Static, both crashing to the ground.

The others charged at her, angry that they had fallen for her trick, but before they could get near her, Danielle brought her hands together, building her energy in them before pulling them apart and sending a large arching wave of ecto-energy at them. Superboy was the first to feel the force of the attack, followed by Blue Beetle and then Batgirl, all three taking the full impact of the hit and crashing back by their friends.

Danielle turned around super quickly and darted into the air as fast as she could; this was her chance to escape, and she needed to take it before they got their bearings back and really let her have it.

"She's getting away!" Robin called out as his friends started to get back up, pain surging through them.

Mockingbird groaned as she rubbed her cheek, a look of hatred directed at Danielle's back. Pushing Static back to the ground as she hopped off him, she got to her feet and ran forward, calling out, "Hey, spook!"

Danielle turned around, eyes wide as the human girl took a deep breath before opening her mouth and using her mother's signature move, the Canary Cry. Danielle didn't even have enough time to protect herself as the waves of high frequency sound hit her, shaking her entire body to the very core of her being. She desperately tried to cover her ears, not even noticing the trail of blood that was running from them as she was too distracted by the pain erupting from them.

The rest of the team finally got back to the feet, watching as Danielle struggled to hold it together, her body folding in on itself as she tried to cringe away from the attack that seemed to never draw closer to ending. Mockingbird could feel herself running out of air, but continued to scream as hard as she could, determined to make this girl feel her wrath and to take her down.

Danielle was getting closer to her limits, and knew if she didn't do something soon, one of two things would happen; she'd either lose all focus and hold she had on her ghost form, which would be the absolute worst case scenario, or they would attack her and capture her, which didn't seem much better.

Anger pulsed through her every cell as she forced her eyes open to look at them with hatred. The adrenaline that pumped in her veins pushed her to focus, if only for a moment, as she tried to find a way out of this. Unbeknownst to Danielle, as she gritted her teeth, her eyes glowed brighter, a new sense, a survival instinct, fueling her as canines elongated, becoming long sharp points. Suberboy's own eyes grew wide in surprise as he watched the girl's top two teeth grow longer then the lower ones, her expression turning extremely feral and animalistic.

Danielle could feel a strong heat building in the epicenter of her core, growing hotter and hotter as it moved up into the back of her throat where it stayed, gnawing relentlessly like a dog scratching at the door, demanding to be let out. Danielle didn't know what this sensation was, but she knew one thing; whatever it was, it wanted out and she was going to oblige.

Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Danielle opened her mouth, drawing in a powerful breath much like Mockingbird had not even a minute before. Superboy turned to the others, shouting a quick command of "Get down and cover your ears!" but it did them no good as the young ghost girl released the most horrifyingly shrill shriek that any of them had ever heard.

Mockingbird's own attack was drowned out before she was launched and dropped in front of her teammates who were all on their knees, desperately covering their ears in pain. The bone chilling feeling that they all felt soon became too much as they all started to feel themselves going slack and lethargy washing over, their vision slowly turning black. The humans were the first to drop, Mockingbird falling face first to the ground as the last of her energy left her.

Static was next, followed soon by Robin and Batgirl who stood little chance, even with their noise canceling protective gear that they had pulled from their belts just before the attack. Superboy struggled to hold on, but with his enhanced hearing, there was no way he could for long and soon too succumbed to the sweet embraced of unconsciousness. Blue Beetle was the only one who remained, struggling to look up at her as the Scarab yelled warnings in his head.

"Dios Mio…La muerte ululante…" With his final words, he too fell out on the ground.

Danielle's scream began to die down as her clothes began to meld and mold with her costume, her pajama bottoms appearing on her, her hair turning back to black and her eyes going to their normal blue. Her teeth, however, remained long and sharp, though she had yet to realize that they had changed to begin with. Her body was throbbing, hurting all over as she began to feel herself losing altitude as exhaustion tried to take over her.

She panted heavily, taking in deep breaths as her throat seemed to protest at the foreign sensation, though in the back of her mind, she knew she had developed a new technique; her father's Ghostly Wail was powerful indeed. Except, for whatever reason, her attack seemed so much higher in frequency and more like a scream then a wail.

"Can't…think…about…it…now…" she panted between breaths. Drawing upon what little power she had left, she transformed again, before turning intangible and flying out of the warehouse.

She wasted no time in getting high into the sky, turning back to look at the warehouse in fear at not only what she had just done but what she had heard.

A hand landed on her shoulder, scaring her as she whipped around to look at them in fear. Her mouth opened to scream, but nothing came out as the ache returned with a vengeance, more powerful than before. Her green eyes stared into matching pairs as she looked into the faces of her parents. She quickly realized that the hand on her shoulder was her father's and breathed a sigh of relief as her pulse returned to normal.

"Danielle Lilith Phantom," Sam said angrily. "Do you even know how much trouble you're in!?" Danielle said nothing as tears of both joy and fright came to her eyes before she threw herself into her parents' arms, grasping them desperately. Danny and Sam looked at her in shock, though held onto her as she cried her eyes out. Sam's tone instantly dropped to one of worry as she asked, "Ellie, what's wrong?"

"Mom…I was…so scared…" she sobbed, gripping tighter onto them. "They were talking about finding us, and catching us, and then they attacked me-"

"Attacked you?" Danny asked, noticing the blood trail from her ears. "Ellie, who attacked you? And who's trying to catch us?"

Danielle looked up and Danny and Sam were shocked at what they saw. Her nose was indeed broken, still bleeding, which it would do until they reset it. There was a number of bruises that had already started to form and change color on her jaw line, face and stomach. But the scariest thing was the long fangs hanging in her mouth. The two parents could feel their ectoplasm running cold at the sight looking sideways at each other with a quick glance.

It's worse than I thought…her fangs have come in…but…she hasn't noticed. Maybe it hasn't set in yet. Maybe it was just a flare up caused by her hunger. Sam thought, first in panic, then optimistically. She hoped she was right, for her daughter's sake. Danielle wasn't ready for this, and if she had gone through the change alone, before she and Danny could have a talk with her, that would be disastrous.

This isn't good…I heard it…when did she have developed a wail? I didn't think it was possible...even so, I thought we'd have more time before she started developing abilities to help her with the change…Danny thought as he looked at the warehouse whose power and lights were out, as well as all the windows shattered. If Danielle did that as well as her fangs having elongated, there was a possibility, a very real, horrifying possibility, that there were dead bodies down there right now, and if that were the case…

"Danielle…what happened down there?" Sam asked slowly, trying to calm her hysterical daughter down.

"Those kids from the Nast Burger attacked me!" Danielle shouted.

Well that wasn't what they had expected to hear. They looked at each other in confusion before turning back to Danielle, whose fangs had receded, proving Sam's theory was correct and that the changed hadn't set yet. The two teenage parents would have breathed a sigh of relief had they not been so confused by what their daughter had just told them.

"What do you mean? Are you talking about those kids who were asking about ghosts earlier?" Danny asked.

"Yes! Them! I went into the warehouse to scare the people inside, and found them, and when I landed, I saw this red ship thing and overheard them talking! They were talking about trying to fight us!"

"Fight us?" Sam asked as she started to get unnerved by what she was hearing. "Who are these kids? Do you think it's possible that they are really ghost hunters?"

"Maybe they're part of the Guys in White," Danny said, his own nerves starting to react as well as he thought up different possibilities.

Danielle shook her head, which wasn't a good idea given the massive headache she had, as well as the possible concussion. "They are definitely not. They're worse, much, much worse."

"What could be worse than that?"

"Dad, these guys weren't ordinary kids. That Barbara girl and that Tim guy, they're Batgirl and Robin! And that Annie girl, she's Mockingbird! The Mockingbird! Sidekick to the Black Canary!"

"Danielle…what are you saying?" Danny asked cautiously as blood pumped into his ears at the realization of her words.

"It's not the Guys in White this time, Dad. It's the Justice League," she said, a serious, fright filled tone in her voice. "The Justice League is looking for us, and I don't think it's just to chat. Their sidekicks attacked me; I got a feeling we're in serious trouble."

Danny swallowed, his throat suddenly very dry as he tried to fully process this, something that was not going well. Turning to his also very startled girlfriend, who's eyes were on him, he said, "Call Valarie and Tucker, and tell them to meet us at the Fenton Works ASAP. We need to get to the bottom of this."
