Kid's p.o.v.
I woke early in the morning and prepared for battle, putting on my black suit and walking out of my room to meet with Spirit. He looked me deep in the eyes.
"Are you ready? It's time." I nodded and followed him out into the field, surprised to see all of the Death Weapons as well as most of the school in attendance. I stepped up to the stairs descending into the battle ring, surprised at how it was organized. Spirit looked at me with a serious expression. "Please don't get hung up on my lack of symmetry. Okay?"
"Sure. This fight is important." Stein walked up to me quietly, only to announce that Shadow would appear as soon as I entered the arena. Spirit changed forms and as I deftly caught him, I allowed a moment for him to accustom himself to my wavelength. 'The time has come.' Descending the stairs at an even pace, I made it to the arena within a minute, and took a stance. a black mist slowly appeared on the other side, and as it thickened, I felt Shadow's soul appear. Once it had cleared, I was at once enraptured. Her outfit was a corset with a black lace undershirt, and pants. The corset was a black and red Brocade pattern with black trim, eight buckles going down the middle, and four silver chains going over each side. the pants were black leather with red on the sides, crossed with black leather twine. Her eyes were black and red, a gleam clearly seen. She stood in a carefully made stance, keeping her symmetry.
"Begin!" I saw she made no move towards me, so I launched with Spirit at her, making a clear cut. Suddenly, A black and red blade was out of her wrists. She let out a small yawn, covering her mouth with the hand she wasn't using to block Spirit. DEAR SOUL! Is she even trying? She looked me dead in the eyes before smirking.
Shadow p.o.v.
"Believe it or not, yes. I am. ... Barely. He is a Death Scythe, and you are a Shinigami. I will give you and him the proper respect. I still won't move too much." I felt his mid brush against mine again, and I leaned into the thought with my own. Did father bring you out to hunt the Kishin? I looked at him solemnly. "I will not lie to you. That is half of why I am here." I smiled again. "Now more talking. It's battle time."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~TIME SKIP BROUGHT TO YOU BY A DANCING LORD DEATH ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The fight lasted two hours. Kid was breathless, barely able to stand, and Spirit wasn't in the best condition either. I had a few cuts and scrapes, but true to my word, I hadn't moved from my spot. I sighed, only mildly bored. I tilted my head up, making sure to amplify my voice to be heard.
"I give. You win Kid." Silence followed my proclamation and I slowly walked forward, my blades turning back to blood and re-entering my body, the cuts all healing closed. "I push you any harder and you'll get seriously injured, or you'll pass out. You survived two whole hours with Spirit. I have only had that happen once before, having a battle last that long... I'm proud. I will fulfill my end of the bargain tonight. 10 p.m." I disappeared into a cloud of smoke, appearing in Lord Death's room. He looked at me carefully.
"Well?" I bowed in respect before sitting down to answer.
""He is rather strong. He will most definitely survive the trials if he keeps his head. Which should I administer first?"
"Administer logic tonight. that will be the easiest, yes?" I thought about it quietly.
"Typically, either logic or death is given first. so maybe?" Lord Death chuckled.
"You gave in." I stood up, looking into the mirror as Lord Death showed Spirit being tended by Stein and Kid was sleeping.
"He would have either died or passed out. I would not risk his life out of boredom. You know that."
"I know. Thank you for that. It means a lot that you didn't actually harm him... All of his pain is exhaustion." I nodded quietly.
"His persistence earned him some respect. I actually had to apply some considerable effort to block his attacks. If we worked together, destroying the Kishin isn't a far stretch." I stepped away. ""I should rest sir. Good night."
I teleported to the store I said I would meet Blair at.
"How did it go?" I glared at her.
"That dumb-ass is stubborn as all of the shadow realms." She laughed as we walked around, window shopping for things we might want to buy later.
"Question."
"Answer." Blair looked at me mildly irritated, and I stuck my tongue out at her.
"Hahah. Funny. Why does the place you live in have your name?" I looked at her mildly surprised.
"I run it. It holds a lot of potentially dangerous objects and things that are people under species name only. That's where we are taking the Kishin when we capture him." she nodded.
"Seems legit. Anyway, We need to get stuff to do Kid's hair."
"Right."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Later that day~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We finally arrived at the room I was staying in, all the bags of things we bought weighing both Blair and I down.
"Thanks for the help Blair. I need to take a nap before I go to Kid's but we should do this again."
"Totally! I have to go anyway. Maybe next week?" I nodded and gave Blair a cheerful wave as she left.
Kid p.o.v.
I awoke in bed with Father and Stein staring at me.
"Good. You're up." I groaned as Stein checked my vitals.
"He looks fine. Healthy as before the battle." Father nodded and Stein departed to go check on Spirit.
"So son, Shadow took quite a bit of energy from you it seems." He chuckled and I smiled.
"I won though... even if it was only because she gave in."
"Yes, that you did." He sat down and looked at me, noticing I had something on my mind.
"Father, can we still help her get a familiar?"
"I don't see why not." He said chuckling. "She left you conscious after all."
