Chapter 4: Lucy, what are you doing?
Lucy woke up when the sun touched her skin, and halfawakedly found Happy peacefully sleeping on her pillow. She squealed softly in surprise, stirring him up a bit, before she shushed him back to sleep. Few seconds later, Happy's movements stopped, his breathing returned back to normal, and he was snoring slightly. The Celestial mage tucked the sleeping exceed in again, petting his head softly until the familiar vibrations of purring hit her hands. Quietly, she changed into a zippered, form-fitting short dress, comfortable black heels, and a magically-extendable purse. Lucy hummed and sat at her desk, taking a moment to write a quick note that showed:
Dear Happy,
You can stay in my house, if you want. If you can't find me, DO NOT panic, I'm just on a solo mission. Hope you feel better!
P.S. There's some fish in the fridge just for you, you cute blue Exceed!
With love,
Lucy H.
She left the letter next to the blue exceed and headed out of her house with her whip and keys. For once, Lucy was actually happy about doing a solo mission. She ran to the train station, with a feeling this was going to be her lucky day.
Lucy thanked all of her heel walking training as she arrived at Magnolia train station. She smiled warily as a child looked at her and pointed out to their mother," Mama, look, it's a pretty lady!" Lucy giggled a bit as the mother looked at her child, blushing softly from embarrassment. After snapping out of her thoughts, she ran to the ticket vendor and said," One ticket to Clover Town, please!" Without a glance, the Ticket vendor said," 50 jewels."
Lucy's smile fell, she remembered how she used her jewels to buy Natsu that lighter. She didn't have a lot left, so with a quick thought, she pulled down the zipper of her dress a bit, and leaned seductively on the edge of the table, clearing her throat. The male barely looked at her but that got his attention. Lucy smirked internally, letting a pout form on her lips, she whispered," Will you do me a favor, sexy?"
He just nodded, staring at both her pursed lips and her exposed chest.
"Can I please get this for free, I really need to go somewhere!" She added a wink to sugar it. It worked. The ticket vendor blushed and said," Yeah, sure!" Lucy smiled victoriously, grabbing the ticket from the vendor's hand. With a loud toot, the train was signaled ready to go, causing Lucy to rush after it. Looking back at the dazed vendor, she blew him a kiss, and ran into the Clover Town Train.
Lucy walked inside, barely making it. She took a seat, looking outside as the train started to move. Team Natsu made its way into her mind and Lucy shook her head, questioning why she was suddenly thinking of that now. She tried to forget about it but she couldn't. She just leaned her head against one of the windows and looked at the view, lost in thought.
Poof. Loke, or should I say Leo,suddenly appeared and hugged his master from behind, startling her in the process. Lucy looked at the lion spirit, blushing, when he leaned his chin on her shoulder.
"Lok- Leo?"
"Yes, Lucy-sama?" Loke smirked.
Lucy lightly glared at him and repeated," Loke, though I've said this many times before, you are my friend, not a servant."
Loke fired back," But every time you make it sound so beautiful!" Lucy huffed, flustered, before sitting back down. She didn't realize he got her to stand up. She lost thought again, looking outside, until Loke laid his head on her lap like a big, orange cat.
He was surprised that Lucy was wearing a different outfit than usual. It did look good nonetheless. Lucy's cheeks were, once again, red but it went away quickly. She decided to tease him back by doing something she wouldn't usually do. She twisted her position, pushing Loke up a bit until he was "comfortably" resting on her legs, and started brushing through his hair. She took off his shades and squished his face, cooing at him uncharacteristically.
Loke couldn't help but purr at the affection and stuttered," Lucy, what are you doing?" Lucy smiled at him, grateful that he hasn't changed in the past two months, and cooed," I'm just appreciating my cutest, most loyal and strong kitty."
Loke smiled, teasing her about her comment, before Lucy started to pet his head a little more roughly. It felt really nice, causing Loke to give out a strangled sigh. Lucy smirked at her accomplishment and put Loke's head back on her lap softly.
Loke, noticing the sudden change, felt a bit distracted with her petting in all the right places. With a start, he asked," Lucy, what's wrong?" She didn't really answer for a bit but he waited for her, keeping his eyes on her.
"I'm just glad you haven't changed. Things are getting back to normal but there's something wrong with Team Natsu..."
Lucy sprung off into a little rant about what has happened in the past two months, tearing up at certain parts, but Loke just listened. When she quieted down, he started," Lucy, I-"
Lucy softly shushed him, feeling more lighter when she found him with a dazed look. "Thank you for listening, Loke." He just nodded mutely, holding onto one of her hands in silent support.
"Hey, Loke?"
"Yes?"
"You mind if I share a song with you?"
"Go ahead, I'd love to hear your lovely voice." She rolled her eyes playfully before she continued to stroke his soft tufts of hair, feeling the vibrations of his purrs. The song lyrics flowed through her, gradually evening into a beautiful tune,"All of this isn't just a coincidence
Just, just my own feeling
The whole universe is different from yesterday
Just, just from your happiness
When you call me
I am your flower
Like I've been waiting for it
We bloomed dazzlingly
It is almost like the destiny of the universe
It is just how it is
You know I know
You are me, and I am you
As much as my heart flutters, I'm just as afraid
Fate keeps being envious of us
I am just as afraid as you are
When you see me
When you touch me
The cosmos moved for us
There was nothing slightly out of place
Our happiness was expected
Cause you love me
And I love you
You are my penicillium
The one who saved me
My angel, my world
I am your calico cat
One who came to meet you
Love me now
Touch me now
Just let me love you
Just let me love you
When the universe was first made
Everything has been decided
Just let me love you
Let me love, let me love you
Let me love, let me love you…"
(That's right, it's BTS Jimin's Serendipity!)
She closed her eyes, humming the last of the tune, before making eye contact with Loke, who was watching her with a flurry of emotions. They both smiled at each other contently before Lucy turned her head to the window, unconsciously petting Loke's hair.
The celestial mage was lost in thought until a speaker rang and said," 5 minutes until we are in Clover Town!" Loke looked up at Lucy, a cheeky grin suddenly appearing on his face. Without moving, he stuck his tongue out and licked her hand.
"Loke, ewww!"
"Ha ha! How else would I get your attention?"
"I heard the speaker just fine…. Gross."
The lion spirit got up, stretching like a big ol' cat, and asked," Lucy, where did you learn that song?" Lucy smiled, wiping her hand on her dress and whispered," My mom used to sing that song to me every night." Loke apologized for asking a such a personal question, but Lucy waved it off with a reassuring smile.
After getting out of the train, Lucy said a quick goodbye and force closed Loke's key before he could flirt to random chicks. She checked the mission paper to find the details of where to go, heading to the mansion on top of a hill near the town.
