Hermione
We left the Hogwarts Express and saw not much people left getting onto the carriages. Noticing this, we quickly walked over to there to wait for the next carriage, not wanting to be late on the first day.
The ride there was pretty uneventful. Harry and Ron talked about Quidditch and what try outs would be like. Us girls just talked about our upcoming classes. Sadly, Ginny was a year under us, so we wouldn't be sharing any classes.
The carriage pulled to a stop in front of the main doors and we hurriedly made our way to the dinning hall. We sat down right before Dumbledore started the sorting of the first years.
"Hey guys," I turned to see Neville. We retuned our own greetings and quickly turned our attention to the front when Dumbledore started to speak.
When the sorting started, I didn't really pay attention. I was looking for the boy on the train but I couldn't spot him anywhere. I was starting to get worried, wondering where he was.
I tapped Ginny on the shoulder. "Ginny have you seen that boy from the train. I don't see him anywhere."
"No, but why are you worried so much? Got yourself a little crush?" She smirked. I turned a little red from the statement, which only caused her to giggle and raise an eyebrow at me.
"Of course not, I do not have a crush on him. I don't even know him!" She gave me a look that said you totally like him.
I gave an exasperated sigh. She turned around and faced Dumbledore again. I went into my own thoughts.
Before I knew it, the sorting was finished. I noticed about the same amount of new faces among each table.
Dumbledore gave his usual speech that he gives at the beginning of each year before telling us to enjoy the food. As the words left his mouth, I noticed that Ron had already started to scarf down food. I wrinkled my nose in disgust while Ginny giggled and Lavender just rolled her eyes, shaking her head.
Noticing that we were looking at him, Ron stopped eating for a moment. "What? I'm starving."
Lavender just shook her head. "Ron, you're always starving."
Just then, Neville spoke up.
"Hey have you guys seen Luna? I wanted to talk to her but I haven't seen her."
I tried to recall if I had seen Luna, but couldn't remember doing so. I just shook my head to Neville.
"Didn't see her either mate. Sorry," Harry apologised.
Suddenly, the doors burst open and the dinning hall went completely silent. I saw Luna and the boy from the train standing next to each other at the entrance. As everyone stared at him, I could see a faint blush creep up onto his face.
"Ah, , glad you could join us. May I ask why you are late and who this young man is?" Dumbledore asked politely, seeming to shoot the boy a mysterious look.
"Of course Professor, this is a new student. As to why we are late … well I don't know." Luna replied in that strange tone she always spoke with.
Everyone began murmuring when they heard the words 'new student'.
I heard Seamus ask Fred, "Hey who is that? New student? He looks sixteen, isn't he too old."
Fred just shrugged but I replied to Seamus, "I don't know who he is but he was in our compartment on the train. Though, he did spend the whole journey sleeping."
Seamus just nodded his head and faced the mysterious person again.
"She is probably lying. She probably talked to him about all those mythical creatures she claims to see and distracted him." I saw Draco snickered. I immediately rolled my eyes.
"Why don't you sit down, shut up and mind your own business." The boy scowled at Draco. I was surprised, and slightly impressed. No one stood up to Draco in fear of his father.
Draco's mouth was wide open. I don't know why, but I felt proud of the boy.
"Do you know who I am? I'll get my fat-" Draco began to yell, his eyes bulging out of their sockets, making him look like some sort of toad.
"That's enough Draco." Professor Snape quickly silenced him. I was thankful for that. I didn't want to hear about how 'glorious' his family was.
"Thank you . You may return to the Ravenclaw table. As for you young man. what is your name?" Dumbledore questioned, altough, I was pretty sure he already knew.
I saw Luna smile at the boy, before walking over to the Ravenclaw table. I got this weird feeling in my chest, but shrugged it off. Next to me, Neville muttered something under his breath. He looked a little upset. I figured that he probably like Luna, and was feeling jealous. After all, he did come and ask for Luna.
"Perseus Jackson, but call me Percy." the boy answered Dumbledore's question.
As soon as I heard his name, I let out a gasp. I quickly covered my mouth. Everyone around me was looking at me weirdly, but I was too shocked to care.
It couldn't be him. Why would he be here out of all possible times. What would he be doing here? This just had to be someone who had the same exact name as him.
He left for America nine years ago and I hadn't seen him since. So why would he suddenly appear out of no where. It was too good to be true; it just had to be someone with the same name and same look.
"Well , as a new student you must be sorted to see which House you will be placed in, just like the first years. Come along now." Dumbledore was waving Percy over to come and sit on the stool.
"Professor, how could he be allowed to attend Hogwarts. I thought they only accepted students for first year?" I heard a feminine voice call out, but I couldn't tell who it was.
"Well Lucy, there were some complications and exceptions. over here has a complicated story, but that is not for me to tell because it is his story. Should he chose to tell it, it will by his own desicion.
Complications? Exceptions? I needed to find out what they were. If this Percy was the same one she she knew from when she was younger, then he shouldn't be here right now.
When he got to the front of the room and turned around, I could see all the girls staring at him. I was getting annoyed, they didn't even know him and yet they already want him just for his looks. I hated it when girls liked guys just for their looks.
I will admit that he was very handsome though. He was tall, maybe around six feet, and well muscled. Not overly muscled that looked like too much, but athletic kind of muscle that was attractive.
Dumbledore whispered something into Percy's ear and he turned a bright pink. He rubbed his neck nervously. He looked cute when he was embarrassed.
"Now , please take a seat and sit still," Dumbledore ordered as he placed that Sorting Hat onto Percy's head.
Percy and the hat talked for a couple of minutes. The hat had never done that before. I couldn't help but wonder what was causing it to do that. At one point Percy paled a bit and this only served to make my curiosity grow.
But then, I heard something I did not want to hear.
"Perseus Jackson! You shall be placed in SLYT-" The hat went completely silent midway when he was going to say Slytherin. I was thankful for this because I didn't want Percy to be in Slytherin. If he really was my Percy that is.
After another two minutes, the hat shouted one word.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Our table clapped and cheered as they would for every new member. Dumbledore whispered something in Percy's ear before letting him walk over to our table.
On his way here, he was waved over by Samantha and some other girls. I rolled my eyes at this. I felt kind of bad for him, he was going to be stared at for the rest of dinner.
After dinner everyone went back to their respective common rooms. I didn't see Percy anywhere.
"So what do you guys think of the Percy?" asked Harry.
"He looks like someone we can get some pranks done with," said Fred and George at the same time.
"He seems okay, I have no reason to have any problems with him," said Harry with a shrug.
"He seems cool, but I think Hermione over there has a crush on him." Ginny grinned evilly.
I blushed and looked away which caused her and Lavender to roar in laughter.
"Is that true Mione?" asked Ron.
"Of course not you nit," I huffed, still red with embarrassment.
"I don't like him," muttered Neville, glaring at the carpet floor.
"Why? He hasn't done anything yet," Ginny asked, a puzzled look on her face.
"I just don't like him," Neville grumbled, still glaring at the carpet.
"Neville, does this have anything to do with Luna? If I remember correctly, you were asking for her at dinner, and when Percy came into the dinning hall with her you muttered, 'Who's this guy think he is! Coming in here like he owns the place'," Harry smirked knowingly.
Now it was Neville's turn to go red. I was glad I wasn't the only one getting picked on.
"Yes, I think I like Luna. But I don't know what to do."
"AWWW THAT SO CUTE!" exclaimed Ginny. We all looked at her weirdly.
"Sorry," she replied sheepishly. At that moment, Percy walked into the room.
Percy
I made my way over to the Gryffindor Tower. Before I went to the Gryffindor table, Dumbledore told me to meet him in his office and told me how to get in. As I was walking to the tower, I recalled our conversation.
*Half an hour earlier*
"Yes Professor? You wanted to talk to me." I asked as I walked into his office.
"Ah Percy come sit down, we have much to discuss." Dumbledore greeted, waving his hand at an empty seat opposite him.
"I assume you know why you are here. I must thank you for coming suddenly. I must really thank Chiron. He has told me all about you and your adventures, son of Poseidon."
I nodded my head. "Well what specifically would you like me to do?"
"I want you to befriend Harry and his friends. Get them to trust you, because you need to protect him. I won't be able to protect and watch over him every second of the day, so I trust that you will do that for me?" Dumbledore raised an eyebrow.
I nodded my head in agreement.
"Very well. I want you to inform me on everything you deem important. I trust you on this. Have a good night Percy," Dumbledore said while leading me out.
"Good night professor," I replied.
I walked to the Gryffindor Tower and stopped in front of a painting of a fat lady. She looked at me. "Who are you I have never seen you before."
"I'm Percy. I'm a new student here and I got sorted into Gryffindor." I explained, a little uncertainly.
"Okay, what is the password?"
Ah yes, the password. Dumbledore told me about this. I quickly told her the password and the painting swung open. I walked in to see a bunch of people in a red and gold themed room that had a lot of books and a fireplace with a couple of tables and couches. Everyone stared at me.
"Um hi," I said, rubbing my neck nervously.
A boy with black hair and glasses waved me over. I walked over and looked at everyone around him, four red heads, which two of which looked like twins. A black haired boy and a brunette girl. Then I saw her.
I stared at her in shock. I could not believe my eyes. I must have been imagining, or dreaming. Then I realized everyone was staring at me curiously. I shook it off and looked towards them again.
"Hey, I'm Harry Potter. Nice to meet you." the guy who waved me over introduced. I realised that this was the guy I had to protect.
"Well I'm Percy as you guys probably know." I grinned shyly.
I shook Harry's hand and looked at the others, waiting for them to tell me their names.
"I'm Fred and that's George," said one of the older red head while pointing to the other one.
"Twins?"
They smiled widely. I knew it.
"Ron," said the other red head boy.
"Ginny, nice to meet you," said the red head girl.
"Are you guys siblings?" I asked with a smile.
"I like him. He's smart," said George approvingly.
"Anyway, I'm Lavender," stated the brunette. She seemed a little snooty, but nice enough.
I turned to the the last black haired boy. He was glaring at me the whole time but I didn't want to say anything. Then he just got up and went up a flight of stairs.
"Um, did I do anything wrong?"
"That's Neville, don't mind him he's just a bit jealous," said Ginny, rollong her eyes in exasperation.
"Jealous of what?" Why would he be jealous of me?
"He likes Luna and thinks that she likes you," she replied.
"Oh," was all I could say.
Finally I turned to the last girl, who was looking anywhere but me. I knew instantly who she was. Hermione Granger. My best friend for my first eight years of life before I as forced to move to America. She was pretty then, but now she looked absolutely gorgeous.
I stared at her expectantly, "And you?"
She slowly turned to face me, "Hermione."
I knew for sure that this was her. After nine years, I finally see my best friend again. Although this was not the way I would have wanted it. On a dangerous quest to protect a boy who can save the wizarding world.
I never would have expected her to be a witch. Why do I have the slightest feeling that the Fates were up to this.
"So Percy, where you from mate? You have this accent." I turned to Ron to answer but before I could I was interrupted.
"Ronald! That's so rude!" scowled Lavender.
"It's okay Lavender, I know he didn't mean it like that." Ron smiled triumphantly. "See, he isn't offended."
"Anyway, I'm from New York."
"So your from the U.S! That's cool. Why are you here then? And whats America like? What about the wizarding schools there? How old are you and what year are you going to be in?" Ginny fired off her questions eagerly.
"Well my mom moved to London and I needed to finish my wizarding education," I lied. "America isn't too different, the muggles there are like here, they don't know anything about magic. The wizarding schools there were… different in a way. I wouldn't exactly call them schools. I am seventeen, but I will be in sixth year classes."
We spent the next couple hours talking about random things until I yawned, feeling tired from such a long day. My sleeve rode up a little, revealing the SPQR Trident tattoo with one line for service. I quickly covered it, remembering what Lady Hecate told me about Death Eaters.
"Well I'll be going off to bed. Its been a long day for me. I'll see you guys tomorrow morning. Good night."
With that, I walked up the stairs to the boys' dormitories and looked for my stuff. After looking around a little I found my stuff in front of a bed which I assumed was mine.
I plopped right in and fell asleep instantly.
Harry
"Did you guys see that tattoo Percy had. He must be a Death Eater. I mean, why else would he come so suddenly, especially as a sixth year. Hogwarts is only suppose to accept first years and 'complications and exceptions' aren't exactly trustworthy," ranted Ron. He was so paranoid sometimes.
"Ron, you don't even know him! It could just be a tattoo," exclaimed Hermione.
"Well sorry if I'm suspicious of your boyfriend," he huffed.
"He's not my boyfriend! I know as much about him as you do." I noticed Mione was shaking a little.
"Both of you, calm down no need to fight," I didn't want my two best friends fighting.
"Sorry Mione. I'm just worried and paranoid." Ron sighed.
"I'm sorry too." Hermoine smiled apologetically.
I was glad they made up.
Lavender yawned and rested her head on Ron's shoulder.
"Tired?" Ron asked.
"Mmm," was all he got in return.
"We should head off to bed," Ginny suggested. Everyone agreed with her suggestion and went off to bed except Hermione.
I noticed her still sitting there. I kissed Ginny good night and told her I was just going to make sure Hermione would go up to the girls dormitories. She nodded her head and left looking sleepy.
"What's wrong Mione? Something's on your mind. Tell me." I asked, concern showing on my face.
She turned to me, giving me a small smile. "Its nothing Harry, don't worry."
And with that she got up and went up to the girls dormitories.
As I watched her retreating figure, I wondered if she had any connection with Percy.
With that I went up to the boys dormitories and went to sleep.
Percy
I woke up in the middle of the night from a nightmare I had. It was of a pale bald guy who looked like he had no nose. I would've laugh had I not been in such a horrible dream.
I saw him standing over Hermione. He was slowly killing her. He was torturing her in the process. All I could do was watch, as much as I wanted to, I couldn't help. The scene was horrible. I knew I couldn't let anything like that happen to Hermione.
I decided to go down to the common room and look out the window by the fireplace.
I just sat there, staring out the window, thinking about what adventures I had been on in my life. Sometimes, I envied normal people, as they didn't have to go through this. I wished that no one would have to go through what I had for a very long time.
I don't know how long I sat there for but eventually, I heard foot steps. I didn't bother to turn around, preferring to continue to look out the window.
"Couldn't sleep either?" asked a soft voice.
I turned around to face a beautiful girl that had been my best friend. I stared at her and noticed that she had changed over the years. She got taller, her hair wasn't as bushy as it used to be, but it was still curly. She looked like a teenager turning into a young woman.
She blushed as she caught me staring. I muttered a sorry. She sat next to me and rested her head on my shoulder. I felt a shiver go through me. We sat in silence for a bit before she spoke in a small voice.
"Percy, is it really you?"
I just nodded to her.
"Percy where have you been all these years?"
I looked down at her, knowing that I could trust her with my demigod past.
"Hermione, what do you know about Greek gods?" I started.
"You mean like Zeus and Poseidon?" she asked, seeming confused as to what this had to do with my past.
I smiled when she said Poseidon.
"Well I know about the myths, why?"
And with that I told her about me moving to America and everything that happened up to this very point. She looked horrified at some of the hardships I went through and smiled at my selflessness. Hermione started to shake with anger when I told her about what Annabeth did to me.
I wrapped my arm around her calming her down, "It's okay. She broke my heart and I don't care about her anymore."
She smiled at me.
I decided to change the subject and asked her about her life after I left. She told me about all the adventures she had with Harry and Ron. It seemed like she had her fair share of dangerous adventures.
"Percy, I really missed you a lot. I can't even describe it. I'm so glad you are here. It'll be just like old times!" Hermoine sighed wistfully.
I grinned at her.
"I missed you a lot too Hermoine. I would love for it to be like old times. Best friends again?" I asked, looking straight into her warm, brown eyes.
"Best friends," she replied smiling.
3rd POV
With that, they fell into a blissful sleep. Hermione in Percy's arms leaning into his chest and wrapping her arms around him. Little did they know, they were both hoping that they could be more than friends. Their dreams would be of each other that night.
