Again, this is so late. I was busy with the TailsxAmy comic on DA, and somehow lost track of the days. I'm SO sorry! Again, to the commissioned person, I thank you a MILLION times over! You were so very patient with me and I appreciate it. I guess it takes me a month to do a chapter? I don't know. I'm weird.
Regardless, a hundred times over thank you again! I hope you enjoy the chapter!
A while later, sometime after 10 pm, Tails came up the stairs after hearing the shower in his home turned off. He felt a little awkward to go anywhere near someone else showering for some reason. It was as though the presence of them naked near by brought the boy into a nervous sweat.
He paused before the designated door he introduced her to, giving it a hesitant knock. "Amy?" he called out.
The door swung open not a second later and the hedgehog stood there with a broad smile wearing one of Tail's baggy white shirts and pants he hardly used. He was always naked or at the very most, wearing pants with a bandanna on. He wasn't the type to wear anything, much like Sonic and Knuckles. ...And a majority of their gang really.
"Yeah?" she asked, the sheen in her quills still visible from her shower.
He tried to ignore the train of thought on how the wetness made her fur shine in the low lighting of the bedroom. "Um, listen, if you need anything, I'm right across the hallway, ok? But um, before I go, do you...do you need anything? For anything that might happen at night you see..." he said awkwardly, aware he was repeating himself rather stupidly. He bit his tongue to keep from speaking anything more.
Amy kept her bright smile in place, shaking her hair letting a few droplets flying. "Nope! I'm good for the night! Thank you for the clothes by the way!" she said, tugging on the shirt. Tails wondered if she was comfortable in something so loose. He's always seen her in something that hugged her figure.
Tails once again forced himself to ignore that train of thought.
"Nah, I never use clothes half the time. I figured you'd need them more than me since you have-" he froze, face turning into a flaming bright red. "I mean-you would prefer something comfy to sleep in!" he quickly fixed, embarrassingly staring at the ground.
Amy didn't seem to take offense however and felt her own cheeks go pink as well. "Ah, well, that's the price you pay for being a girl, eh?" she mused, trying to make this less awkward for the both of them.
Tails only nodded, turning on his heel for a quick escape. "I-If you need anything!" he said, waving over his shoulder and disappeared into his room.
Giggling at his shy behavior, Amy closed the door, and went to bed.
"We seem to be low on some fundamental minerals."
What was going on? So much noise was roaring around me. And everything was pitch black. But not the kind that would have you thrown into a dark closet, but...like closing your eyes to remember something in your head but all you can remember is...
"How much lower can we be? We are in a place made of rock!"
...Voices...who are they?
"I understand, but this takes more than just oxygen, magnesium aluminum, silicon calcium, sodium potassium, iron-"
"Ok! I get it! Enough!"
I see a blurry image within this dark place. It was a distant orange light and the sound of...machines? Like big giant machines. But what else?
"We just have to dig deeper..."
"Well alright, but once we do...we'll get this thing up and running and finally get what we're aiming for..."
Suddenly the darkness overcame me and I became afraid. There was nothing but silence now. It felt more terrifying than hearing roaring machines. I don't like it in the dark. Get me out. Get me out! GET ME OUT!
I threw myself up from the bed, feeling myself drenched in sweat. I blinked my eyes, adjusting to the darkness. For a moment I panicked I was still in that horrible place and jumped to my feet get to a window. Light streamed onto my face. Painfully at first but I got over it. With a sigh, the view of the outside world greeted me, bathed in dawn's new light and waking up the birds just outside the glass.
That's right...I'm at Tail's place. He saved me.
More awake, I ran to the door to greet him! I paused though as I grabbed the doorknob. My brain felt a little fuzzy.
"What was I dreaming about?" I asked out loud, looking around the room hoping the answer would come to me. Nothing but light shining through on the simple bed and dresser. More and more the dream slipped away as I tried to think about it. I would have thought harder if not the sound of clanking of metal on metal and a soon after "NO! Augh, not again!" from an obvious fox boy.
"He's awake!" I said with glee, and ran out the door, completely forgetting about the dream.
Tails wiped some sweat off his brow. It was a chilly morning, yet he felt himself sweating up a storm in the garage standing so close to the engine before him. Somehow he found himself up before dawn and couldn't go back to sleep. So, to pass the time instead of fighting to get more sleep, he decided to finally work on a device for a company. They asked him several weeks ago if he could check it out for them since they claimed it was always overheating.
Overheating was an understatement. The thing was on for only 10 minutes and he was roasting in the room.
"Okay...what do you have wrong with you, my little friend..." Tails mumbled, walking around the machine to see the orange hotness already burning on the metal surface. He made a mental note to not touch it yet until he finds some heavy duty gloves. That can wait though after he inspects for the problem.
As he was circling the machine, he failed to notice the pink hedgehog step into the room. She had a bright smile on, and practically skipped to Tails side. The closer she got however, the heat became noticeably more intense and she paused just far enough away to watch the boy work.
"Wow! What are you making to make this THIS hot?" Amy asked, holding her hand up over her eyes slightly as the heatwave washed over her. The machine Tails was looking at was barely as tall as the two of them, but looked far more intimidating with the orange hotness burning from its inside. For a second, Amy stared at it feeling a sense of deja vu.
"It's an engine for a company." Tails replied without looking up, entirely focused on the task at hand. He fixed his goggles on, unable to squint any longer for clues. "Apparently they were having trouble with this-" he paused, whirling around to the girl standing there wide eyed.
Amy smiled at him, waving. "Good morning!"
"A-Amy?! You can't be in here now!"
"I can't?" she asked surprised.
"Y-Yes! This is dangerous! Get back inside before you get hurt!" he insisted, in a slightly panicky tone and shooing her away. He was always nervous when his friends would be around his work, especially work he felt were harmful.
"Oh, well, okay." she said sounding disappointed and stepped back towards the door. "When will you be done?" she asked with a fresh new smile.
"Huh? I-I don't know. This shouldn't take long. Not really." he said, looking back to the engine, still glowing orange. He didn't feel comfortable with the way it seemed almost hotter in the room with Amy inside.
Or maybe that was just him.
"Great! Then Ill make us some breakfast for both of us and we can eat together!"
"Sure. You do that." Tails said, nodding quickly and gently urged her to leave once more. He wasn't a rude boy by heart, but he really was scared for her safety. "I'll come out once I'm finished!"
"Okay! I'll just-" she paused seeing the door close on her. "...wait here then." she finished, biting her lip.
With a sigh, she turned to the kitchen and living room. It was still a little early for breakfast, so maybe the pink creature could do some other things to wait.
Amy started to think of ways to get on Tail's good side. Cleaning might be a good start, seeing how much of a mess the place was. Maybe cooking too. She grinned thinking how he would react with surprise and then admiration for the hedgehog doing him so many favors. She could already see the face he'd make now; glowing with pride and joy.
With a somewhat evil cackle, she set off to work of cooking and cleaning. "Oh, Tails is going to LOVE it!"
It was 2 pm when Amy finally finished cleaning. She skipped breakfast altogether when she asked Tails if he wanted anything and replied with a tired "No, thank you. Still working." Just getting close to the door Amy felt the heat of the engine through the cracks. Seeing how he didn't seem close to fixing it, she left him alone.
At this point, Amy was sitting on the couch, staring at the Tv screen trying to catch up on any news and maybe get a clue on what has been happening in her life. Anything. A Cafe she might have visited? A store she might have shopped? Her own home? Does she even remember any hobbies she had?
She looked on screen for this Sonic character, but nothing seemed to be on him today. He seemed to be a wanderer and wondered to parts of the globe with no telling where he'd end up. She glanced to photos hanging on the walls, seeing his happy grin, and felt nothing. No hints of her magically came up and even photos with her included didn't ring any bells.
The more she tried to think about it, the more the pit in her stomach grew into a cold piece of rock weighing her down. Bringing her legs to her chest, she stared at her unfamiliar feet dangling over the edge of the couch, feeling alien in her own body.
"I shouldn't be afraid...but I don't know what to do." she said. Without a chore to do, or an idea of what she should be doing, she felt truly alone and small.
The only happy thought was...
"Tails!" she brightened up slightly, looking to the door. Glancing to the clock, she pouted, wondering what the boy was doing. "He's been in there for over 6 hours! He should be done by now!" she said, standing and marching to the door impatiently.
With barely a knock, the girl stepped into the room. It felt like stepping into an oven. She threw her hands up in front of her face, seeing the engine had gotten from bad to worst. It was nearly white with heat on its metal plating and Tails was scrambling around it, shouting to the computers that kept announcing things.
"Warning: Overheat. Danger of damaging-"
"I know! I know!" Tails shouted, grabbing tools left and right. His fur was sleek with sweat and he ran to and fro like a maniac without his head on. "Turn on the cooling systems! Give me the scans on the machine!" he screamed. The engine was roaring loudly now, making the situation seem all the more threatening.
"System...scanning...scanning...cooling system damaged. Heat intensity fried fuse box. Status: Projects C-G are now withholding damages. Will need repairs."
"Well, isn't that just...perfect!" the fox yelled, throwing a ratchet aside angrily. "Great, just GREAT! Why don't you just cut off my tails and ship them to-" Tails stopped himself, mid curse to spot Amy in the doorway. "Amy?! What are you doing here? I told you to wait in the house!"
"What's going on?" Amy asked stepping in further, ignoring the fox's commands.
Seeing the girl wasn't listening (then again, he should have known better. Amy was stubborn to a fault sometimes), he threw his hands in the air in frustration. "The engine isn't responding to anything I do. Its blasting heat all over the place! And the controls literally melted off so I can't turn it off!" He growled. "Not only that, its too hot to even go close to it so I can't find a wire-"
Both he and Amy yelped in surprise when a gadget or something within the garage combusted in on itself, sending a flurry of sparks.
"It's not safe here!" Tails exclaimed, ushering her towards the door. "We have to get out! It might even explode at this rate!"
"But what about your machines?" Amy asked worried. Her green eyes darted to the beloved plane of the fox, feeling her chest tighten. If the thing goes off, wouldn't it take out the plane as well? It was his beloved creation...one he built from scratch and held dear. She just knew he loved it.
"There's no time for that! We have to get to a safe distance!" he repeated, now bodily moving her to the door.
Amy looked to the fox pushing her to the door. Then to the engine. The thing was now shaking on the spot, making thundering noises from within. It did look ready to explode.
It was all that thing's fault. If it weren't there, Tails wouldn't be struggling right now looking distressed. He wouldn't have to lose his plane and all his machines he was working so hard to make. Even now, they were practically melting off the shelves. Tails wouldn't have had to sacrifice his time and effort for someone else's problem.
And he wouldn't have missed their breakfast.
Amy felt a spark within her. She just CLEANED the house! If that thing blows up, it will take out all her hard work with it!
"This lousy..." Amy growled, pushing past Tails and marched towards the box shaped thing.
"Amy?! Amy what are you doing?!" the two tailed furry screamed in a panic. "Amy no! Don't go near that!" he begged when the girl kept on stomping towards it, pushing the sleeves up her arms and moving into a fighting stance. Tails felt his heart clench. Was she falling into battle mode now of all times? It couldn't be when Eggman was actually attacking or got pissed off later on.
The closer she got, the more it felt like Amy was going right next to a burning inferno. But that didn't matter. Amy was too lost in her fury to care. The urge, like a distant calling for her to just strike the thing was screaming inside her. Her fingers flexed and clenched into fists. She held up her hand, grasping for something, ANYTHING, to smack it down.
The Piko Piko hammer appeared in her fingers. And with that in hand and the battle instinct instilled into her soul from years of fighting, she swung her hammer down and hard!
"THIS is for turning the place into a sauna!" Amy shouted, slamming her hammer into the engine. A large dent was formed on its side, and that only seem to make it shake harder.
"Amy! Amy no, please! You're going to make it explode sooner!"
"And THIS is for putting us through this mess!" she screamed, ignoring Tails and slammed her hammer on another side of the engine. The heat grew. It was like a mini sun.
Tails couldn't bear to watch and bolted into the room, ready to grab her.
"And THIS is for making me miss a breakfast with my Tails!" she finished, slamming her hammer right on the head! The second she did, Tails tackled her to the floor just as the engine vibrated violently at its hardest. Despite its large shape, it moved around the floor for a moment, the sounds of an angry monster sounded off like it was rearing up for an attack. Tails covered Amy with his body, hugging her to his chest with the hopes of the explosion taking him out instead of her.
Then, quite suddenly, it stopped. Tails blinked in surprise to see the lights inside the machine cooling down and the white hot heat disappearing within seconds, leaving only the heavy warmth and a sweaty, panting duo on the floor.
Tails was beside himself with shock. "That...actually worked." he asked confounded by the results.
Amy looked over to the machine also in surprise, her anger dissipating along with the chaos. "I...did I do that?" she asked, looking to the three large dents on the machine. It was made of hard metal, so it didn't take any old blows to do that. It had to take something of a behemoth with intense strength.
The hedgehog looked down at her hands, seeing the hammer still there. "Wh-What?" she cried out, scrambling back from the weapon. "Where did that come from?" she asked, finally realizing the weapon was there at all. She watched it disappear and only grew more confused. She whirled to Tails. "Tails! Explain!"
The fox stared at her for a second before he narrowed his usually soft blue eyes at her. They grew stormy and Amy blinked in surprise, holding her hands to her chest. "First of all, what were you THINKING?!" he shouted standing to his feet so he stood over her. "You could have gotten yourself killed! I told you to NOT come into the garage while I was working!"
Amy felt herself frozen with fear and hurt. Tails shouting at her stung more because she admired him and the look he gave was something close to disappointment. She remained still for a moment before it turned into that familiar anger, jumping to her feet. "Oh yeah? I just saved your life! Had it not be for me, you would have lost your house!"
"Had it been up to me, you would have been out of harms way!" he snapped back. The fox grabbed at his bangs, struggling to calm down. His two tails moved around in irritated motions while Amy stood there to fold her arms. "I mean-GEEZ Amy! You just charged in like that without-it was-you-" his frustration showed and he walked in place unsure how to formulate the words to show how angry he was. Finally Tails stopped, glaring at her while she glared back. "If anything happened to you, I would have never forgiven myself, Amy. Do you understand that?"
That seemed to crack the girl's temper, and her features softened just slightly.
"I asked you to wait because it was too dangerous! That was sheer luck you hit the thing at the right spot and time to shut it off. The chances of that were so slim-" he stopped once more to sigh frustratingly, turning away from her to ruffle the back of his head. It was soaked with sweat still and the room had yet to fully cool off. He glanced to his machines and a big part of him was happy none of them were blown up. But he knew if Amy died in that explosion, he'd trade all his machines to have her safe.
Amy shifted her weight, rubbing her hands over her arms. She looked as guilty as she felt. "Tails..."
"Look...I know I ignored you today, but-"
"No, its not that." Amy broke in, stepping over to him and wrapped her arms around his neck. This took him by surprise, his ears and tails shooting up in a jump. "I'm sorry...I didn't mean to worry you like that. I was...I was just so angry right then. I couldn't control myself. I just...the hammer just appeared and I had to fight." she said, her voice small against his ear. "Please don't be angry with me..." she asked in a smaller voice, burying her face into his shoulder blade.
Tails bit his lip, shifting his tense shoulders. It was one thing to hear Amy apologize so sincerely, but another to have her pressed against him and right next to his ear. It twitched slightly under her breathe and he started to feel the racing beat of his heart.
He glanced back to her, and for reasons beyond him, noticed how her white shirt was soaked with sweat...and slightly see-through.
The fox snapped his face forward again, hoping she didn't notice where his eyes had just been.
"I-Its...um..." he sighed, reaching up to pat her arms around his neck. "Its fine. I forgive you. Just...don't barge in here like that again okay?" he asked, glancing back to smile tiredly.
Amy's face broke into a loving smile, nodding and squeezing herself into his back.
'Keep a clean train of thought! Keep a clean train of thought!' he told himself, forcing himself to think of ANYTHING but the way her body pressed into his back. The train was moving out of the station against his will though...
"U-Um, so! You were asking about the hammer?" he squeaked out nervously.
Amy jumped off his back, letting him breathe at last, and ran in front of him with a curious look. Again, Tails forced his eyes to remain on her face as she narrowed her gaze on him. "YES! What was that? Why did I get a hammer out of nowhere? Where did I get it? How did it appear in my hands? Am I always that angry? How strong am-"
Tails grabbed her shoulders, stopping her mid-sentence. "Whoa! Whoa! One at a time!" he said. "Lets answer those in the kitchen okay?" he said, grabbing his stomach. "I haven't eaten anything all day..."
"Oh! Oh yes! There's still breakfast to eat." she said, grabbing his hand and yanking him to the door. "And you'll love what I did with the place! I cleaned it from top to bottom!"
"What? Oh no, Amy you didn't!" Tails said, stepping into the main hallway and couldn't help but smile at how spotless the place was.
"Yes I did!" she nodded, rocking on her heels to watch his reaction carefully. "Do you like it?"
Tails turned to the girl, looking embarrassed. "Of course I do but...I didn't bring you in here to become my maid. You didn't have to do that."
"Forget about it. It was the least I could do for my darling hero." she cooed, smiling lovingly at him once again, stepping closer to him. Tails felt himself flush under gaze. Circling around her body like she was a tiger, the fox moved to the kitchen door before she could grab him into a hug.
"U-Um, let's go start on that late breakfast, shall we?" he said laughing uneasily and zipped in through the door.
The pink furred girl only giggled, skipping right after him.
TA DA! Finally done~ I hope you all enjoyed it~
